Yaa seriously..! And thanks matt for making these kind of analysis videos that help us in positioning ourselves .. and also various tactics..! Thanks man .. great job 👍🏻
Honestly one of my favorite performances of you so far Matt. Your comfort on the ball and decision making was so fun to watch, not to mention the combination play between you and your team mates. All that consistent hard work has given you the consistency you need during the big moments. Great work!
Ohhhh man you are killing it this season really. Through hard work and dedication you became an indisputable starter in the USL. It would be insane to see you join an MLS squad or simply get a trial🙌⚽️
I'm 32 and decided to start playing again this year after over 10 years of not touching a ball. Your channel is a great resource for all things soccer, from tactics to technique to fitness and everything in between. It's great man. I'm also coaching girls varsity at a high school and all this info will be very helpful. Keep it up!
I’m following you from now on, I do play a left back position too and this video of you playing in the same position would definitely help in the coming days. I want to improve in many ways for sure. Thanks for the analysis:)
hii .... I got smal advicee probably you know of is just when u r on your way to cross try to perform cruyf turn or any type of turns and then make ur own decision to cross or to cut inside specially when u are right footed playing in the left back
Good analysis starting soccer now and decided on LB as my position and u have given me a good understanding on how to play and how to check ur surroundings thank you
I was a 2nd string center midfield on a top ranked D3 team... I once got a full 45 min half at Left Back. Coach never explained why he put me there but it's probably the easiest position on the field. Plenty of time on the ball, less fitness required than midfield, not as much accountability as center back or sweeper.
Somehow stumbled across your channel. I also played for Westside metros, coach was Monty Hawkins. Study Bitcoin. While you have downtime on the road. Good rabbit hole and worth your time. Keep going man.
5:57 Food for thought, had he touched the ball forward and clipped a pass into his left winger, he woulda possibly took 4 guys out of the picture and put his forwards a 3v3. Yea now just lmk why I’m wrong
It was my exact thought at the time as well. I just assumed either tactically the coach wanted them to play just safe balls and maintain possession or otherwise he just doesn't like to take alot of risks (which I honestly think he should take some more of but that's just me)
Was wondering if you could make a video on what separates an amateur from a professional? And I always wondered why some leagues aren’t as tough or competitive as another like la liga compared to MLS, a video on that would be great as well like what does it take to become world class footballer in a top team?
@@seanburst306 thats what I thought but also having a lot of stamina and being consistent throughout the match without making useless skill moves/decisions also help and of course other skills needed in your position but I think being consistent and high amounts of stamina is one of the top requirements
Movement off the ball, which a lot of people don’t see is very important too. If you watch premier league, movement off the ball is so much better than average leagues like mls, players know where they have to be at all times and are always looking for open spaces and moving to pockets where their teammates can find them easily.
Good 2nd half. Take a touch inward before your left footed cross. You’re swing is chopping across the body and there’s not enough pace on the ball from that far out.
I think what might he preventing him is his age. He's not old ,and I believe good enough, but MLS seems like they want younger blood unless they have played in higher divisions in other countries.
Matt when you were in high school did you have friends or people who would practice with you because I am 13 and feel like I am the only person in my middle school or even soccer teams who love to play the sport. If not how did you do certain practices that you need a second person for?
@@radin_mammudu I played 3 games once without eating, and mostly just water and it didn’t go too well, so maybe just decrease intensity since your body isn’t getting as much nutrients
Hey matt if im a LW and am going to press the RB where should i press? Should i make it so that he can dribble inwards? Or do i block the inside of the pitch so he can only have space in the touchline? Im confused in how to press as a Winger
it depends , (talking as a fellow LW) first thing u need to do is analyze him. what foot is he (most likely right footed) which foot does he dribble with? is he really quick? can he control the ball well while running or does he like to knock forward? ur first few times pressing, press him equally, not towards the center or the wing. (unless your coach says otherwise) let's say he's a right footed speedster. then I'd press him in towards the pitch because he can't run as freely or create with his right foot because there's less space. whereas if u let him run on the wing he could knock the ball past u and take off doing the same to ur left back or other players.
also check his dribbling skills, confidence and concrentration . you also have to stay locked in and focus so he doesn't hit u with a feint or a nutmeg and play with u however he wants. i would recommend playing a lot of 1v1s so u can be reliable in defense as well. i've received praise for that in the past from coaches and teammates but be careful that ur offensive game and shooting is strong so u don't get thrown at wingback or centre back. stamina is also key
Not sure what your coach wants from you in that position but I noticed that a few times you take a touch and make space away from your man and because you don’t see anyone open you pass back to your center back. Maybe if you took another driving touch towards the middle of the field you could find a new angle for your teammates as they move around you. Just an observation. Otherwise, keep up the good work bro!👍
I think that the back pass is exactly what the coach wants. For a lot of top teams now the top passers on the team are the center backs. No reason to dribble longer when you can give it to a player with more space and a better view of the field.
Matt I have a question. Is America a country where you can easily make it or is it at least easier than Europe? And also should I risk it to travel to other countrys for trials and how can I find when and where does trials happen? I really want a response to these questions bc I'm 15 and I wanna start investigating this area of the pro football business
