I’m soooo sad I am just now finding your videos!!! I feel a binge coming on!!! Pls don’t stop, teeth health is so important, and I feel so many of us weren’t taught the proper way of care!!!
Too bad it's been a year because I would tell you to not take her advice on toothpastes and mouthwashes. This video just seems like a commercial for Listerine and ACT. Two of the worst mouthwashes out there. TheraBreath is a good mouthwash. There are other good mouthwashes out there as well. But I do not use mouthwash on a regular basis. I use a tooth powder by Frau Fowler. It contains baking soda, pink Himalayan salt, and peppermint and spearmint essential oils. Toothpaste is not good for your mouth because it will dry out your mouth and gums with the ingredient, sodium laurel sulfate. That's what makes the paste foamy like soap in your mouth. Dry gums are bad. The tooth powder that I use makes your mouth alkaline. That's the best thing for your mouth and gums. If the pH balance in your mouth is off, problems will arise. Most any mouthwash will throw off the pH balance in your mouth and dry it out. So will regular toothpaste. I haven't used paste in years. And I rarely use the mouthwash that I have.
I’m a dental assistant and I’m obsessed with oral hygiene for myself since starting 5 years ago. Before I was in dental I had a few fillings and hated getting them done due to gum irritation from injection site and matrix bands. Since I brush and floss 3x a day and use morning antiseptic and evening fluoride rinses I have no cavities and my teeth always feel clean. Love your content and I find it educational for myself in reviewing OHI to my patients
The only time my teeth felt completely clean all day even after eating or drinking was when I would religiously brush twice a day with Arm and Hammer Truly Radiant toothpaste. The best I can describe it was like a continuous minty smoothness when I'd feel my teeth with my tongue that somehow didn't interfere with anything I ate but it's so hard to find now! I was so excited when I found it in Mexico but it wasn't the same. ☹️
I have a question. Can all types of bad breath be treated or cured? And I mean all types of various stages. Like severe halitosis. Or the severe ones cannot be treated/cured....please respond when you can
I love that you talked about this! Thanks. I asked my hygienist about them, and she said they're ok. That was it! I tried to ask specifics, and she said I should read the label. So thanks again!
I think you're hygienist was trying to tell you something. Like stay away from them! 😂🤣 Listerine and Act are among the worst mouthwashes out there. They will dry out your mouth. And if you don't think you feel dry, then you've gone "dry-mouth blind" if you will. When I stopped using toothpaste and mouthwash many many years ago and switched to tooth powder, that's when I realized just how dry my mouth was before. Yuck and Ew all over! 😝 I ran out of my powder and it was taking longer for the next shipment so I just used the paste in the meantime. Right after brushing with that awful paste for the first time in a long time, my mouth immediately felt dry again. Something I haven't felt in years after not using paste and regular ol' mouthwash. Never again with the paste! 😜 I make sure I order extra powder and I order the next batch when I still have plenty left.
@@1Hope4All damn you're right. I switched to powder too and after reading your comment I realized why my mouth was so dry before. And they "recommend" to leave your paste on your tooth without rinsing....smh
With anticavity mouthrinses, some container sizes have a lower concentration of fluoride, and are labeled to be used twice a day. If people only want to use the mouthrinse once per day, it's important for them to read the label and make sure that they are getting the more concentrated version.
@@partycrashers22 I haven't compared concentration levels, but Act Anticavity (recommended in this video) is recommended to be used once per day, so I would assume that it contains a higher concentration of fluoride than some other varieties.

Therabreath mild mint is the best mouthwash I’ve tried all other brands and this one works the best. No artificial color, no alcohol and it makes your breath fresh all day literally and no morning breath !
@@lovemuffin10101 apologize for the late reply but I had a quick question. Is it worth to buy Oxyfresh if you already have the TheraBreath mild mint mouthwash ?
Thanks for the info, didnt know bout this. Been using antiseptic mouthwash the whole time thought it was for my teeth since im cavity prone. Im gonna change mouthwash right away. Thanks again.
Thank you so much. I use the anti-cavity fluoride mouthwash with alcohol. I like to feel it’s burning sensation! No pain no gain. But don’t worry I floss and brush morning and night 24 and 365 days a year.
I used to think the “eye watering, intense burning” was cleaning my mouth and tongue and it wasn’t! The best mouthwash for me is Therabreath or Cloysos. The more alkaline the better!
I am So glad I found this video , I just purchased act mouthwash and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for . zero alcohol and leaves my mouth feeling fresh all throughout the night, thanks!
I went to the NHS dentist in early 2023 after missing appointments in 2006. The lovely lady didnt believe that I hadnt been checked in so long but have zero dental problems or issues. I brush twice daily & use Listerine purple. I don't drink or smoke but I do consume energy drinks & junk snacks daily.
I love watching your videos! They're very helpful and informative. I watch them to help me in school (I'm in a dental assisting program rn) Plus, I love the comedy that you add in your videos! Thank you for this!
Plax for a full minute before I brush. Then floss before I brush. Then wash out my mouth and finish up with a full minute of Listerine Antiseptic Cool Mint for a full minute. I use half as much as they recommend for twice as long. I have had my teeth cleaned twice in the last 10 years and have not lost a single tooth, instead of 3 cleanings and 3 teeth lost a year before. Works for me.
Two of your videos and am sold. Subscribed right there. At 48 yrs, just started wondering why tooth brushes have started having an attitude on me. Now am understanding everything. Thank you.
I grew up decades ago - dentists never offered any information about taking care of one's teeth - and years later, I realized they had no idea what they were doing - except pretending u had cavities - and drilling away. There were no dental hygenists at the time. The dentists in NYC/Brooklyn, NY cleaned my teeth - something which they had no training and did a poor job. The dentist I go to now, in southern Calif., has state-of-the-art equipment and a great dental hygenist. Dentistry has come a long way --- and the mouth-washes have greatly improved. I also had no idea they actually help with keeping ur teeth from getting cavities (fluoride) and helping with the gums. I've been using a sonicare electric toothbrush for 25 years - and I highly recommend. Costco sells sets of 2 --- and there are several choices. Read the reviews on their site. Thanks for ur video - such helpful information.
Recap Get Mouthwash with Zero Alcohol Use Antiseptic Mouthwash in the Morning Use Anticavaty/ Fluoride Mouthwash at Night (Best for braces and ortho treatment) Mouthwash is not a substitute for brushing or flossing. Wait 30 minutes after using Anticavaty/ Fluoride Mouthwash before eating/drinking again.
Great info. I was confused every time I was at the store and didn't know the difference in mouthwash. Teeth Talk Girl, you have a great personality that fits so good for your profession.
I was not aware there were different types. I have a prescription toothpaste for fluoride. And then I use Sonicare mouthwash. I have an electric Sonicare toothbrush. I just found your videos and find them enjoyable
this is so helpful. I didn't realize there are two main types of mouthwashes. I usually just buy the brown Listerine one which is an antiseptic. I'll now add this into my routine. thanks.
Oh, knowing this about what's best before bed, thats good to know. Or atleast to use the flouride one after I've used the antiseptic one after flossing in hopes its getting any bacteria ive just freed up and getting IN there. Knowing about how ur mouth gets dry when you sleep and THATS when cavities start forming....the flouride before bed makes sense. Moth toothpaste has it but....never thought to make sure 😅😳
I love the burning sensation, it makes me feel like "DIEEE GERMSSS" even if I'm tearing. It also points out the places where I haven't reached because they're not burning.
Who else brushes first, then flosses, then uses mouthwash? I personally use ACT but only anticavity. I had no idea there was an antiseptic for gums. Will buy asap
The burning in antiseptics always made me feel like they worked better. At least that's the correlation I made in my mind somehow, which... Obviously not based on any kind of science 🤦🏾♂️
It's the cetylpyridinium chloride which causes the burning sensation. There are other very good mouthwashes with good anti bacterial properties that do not contain cetylpyridinium chloride such as Dentyl pH, and hence no burning sensation.
At every dentist checkup, they ask if I drink coffee because my teeth are stained. I brush twice a day and floss at night. I was thinking about adding a whitening mouth wash to my mornings and ACT restoring after lunch so I can reduce the staining of the 1 cup of coffee I drink per day in the morning. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the video. Helped me decide the best mouth wash. I like the part you mentioned before bed and got that one. That’s my plan. Brush and use mouth wash before bedtime and it helps clean throughout the night without eating or drinking until the next morning.
Used to use colgate mouthwash and never felt like it was doing anything but now I only use listerine purple and it feels so much better and I love the burn.
The burn is the alcohol in the mouthwash The alcohol kills the GOOD and bad bacteria in your mouth! Listerine will help your teeth to go bad because of the alcohol.
Great video. Never knew there is a specific fluoride wash. When I brush my teeth in the evening, after my rinse I put a tiny bit of toothpaste on my brush and go around again but don’t spit it out. Toothpastes contains fluorides, so hoping that leaving it on during the night will help. The antiseptic one I’ve never used. I do not get why this is necessary. I’ve also heard it messes up PH levels in the mouth and kills good mouth bacteria but I may be wrong.
sounds like you're on team teeth! keep up the great work! and here's my video about the antispetics and how many of them are acidic so yep def messes up the microflora of the mouth -- hope you enjoy: th-cam.com/video/5aV1EeM9m-A/w-d-xo.html
I’m surprised that you haven’t mentioned Listerine gum therapy in your video. Apparently, it’s four times. Healthier, helps “ reverse “signs of early gum disease, redness, bleeding and inflammation.
I'm not one that's into pain or anything fetishy like that lol... BUT! For whatever reason I love the feeling that I get when my gums are in pain... I don't ever try to intentionally harm my gums to get that sort of feeling or anything haha, I ain't trying to mess my gums up! Just something I've always noticed. So when it comes to mouthwashes, I'm all over the ones with alcohol :). The pain you get on your gums from swooshing it around feels so good to me lol. Makes me actually want to mouthwash twice a day. I know this is extremely weird, I get it lol. Just wondering if anyone out there has the same sort of issue or am I just truly a weirdo?
So I have a very gingivitis and plaque prone mouth, and I have an oral routine with everything in it.What mouthwash do you think would be best for me? ( brand, type, etc)
What's your opinion on therabreath mouthwash? That's what I use since those other mouth washes would make my breath worse because of the alcohol..the color ones too. Now I wonder am I harming my gums with only using therabreath?
Would you recommend a mouthwash that contains Lactoferrin? Dental cleanings (scraping) are important to remove plaque, which is composed of a biofilm that essentially protects the cavity causing bacteria. Lactoferrin was originally used in the meat packing business because it is shown to prevent biofilm formation which in turn extends the meats shelf life. Biotin used to contain Lactoferrin but no longer does. When I used Biotin in the past I had no cavity check ups even though I brushed less. I contacted the maker of Biotin about this change but they wouldn’t explain why Lactoferrin specifically was d/cd from their formula.
My wife and I use the purple non-alcoholic Listerine, and every morning we wake up with a white, opaque film that lines our gums. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t happen with the alcohol version. Do you know what the film is?
One among my members of the family is struggling with foul breath. Her mouth can be closed as well as the smell comes through her nose. She did not find any help from popping tic spearmint gum and breath mints. Nonetheless, she was tremendously assisted by this smelly breath treatment BestBadBreathRemedy9.blogspot.com I`m really glad that it neutralized her breath. .
Listerine total care help to prevent or to cure tonsilitis, i have been using it for more than 10 years. I would say its more effective than taking a medicine, however it can cause dryness of mouth and throat.
Dumb question...What about mouthwashes that say "anticavity" But somewhere along the list of things the mouth wash says "kills bad breath germs".. is it safe to use twice a day? Or will i kill my good bacteria too of i do this?
I love ACT!! My dentist recommended it to me back in the 2000s and I've used it ever since. The cinnamon is the best!! My kids love the watermelon though haha.
Hello, I have brushed my teeth too hard and now I have loose teeth because the gum is almost half gone. I have a tooth pain after brushing. So what kind of mouthwash should I use?
I started using listerine blue and my breath started getting worse and worse after using it to the point it was unbearable, I stopped using it all together and it improved vastly.
In a later video, she explains it, but most mouthwashes, especially Listerine, have a bad pH level. Find a mouthwash with a pH level above 6 or 7, and you will be good. And don’t forget that it has to be alcohol-free.
So everyone says to go with an alcohol free rinse so you don't dry out your mouth (bad.) I am also against fluoride. That leaves zero alc. mouthwash like Listerine Cool Mint- which I like. Will this still help with teeth health e.g., defend against harmful plaque and bacteria?
after swishing the mouthwash for a minute and spitting out, how long should i wait till rinsing with water ? is it 30 minutes ? can you leave it on overnight ?
Great video! I have a question: I only use antiseptic mouthwash because I am prone to gum bleeding/gingivitis. Would it be helpful to also use fluoride mouthwash if I’m not prone to cavities (I’ve never had any afaik) or would it not do anything for me? I have had two root canal treatments if that makes a difference. Thanks!
Sooo toothpaste has more fluoride in it then Act so rinsing with Act actually reduces the fluoride you need to prevent cavities. Act also has propylene glycol, antifreeze as an ingredient.
Hey Whitney! I love your videos and I actually started the dental hygiene program yesterday. I was wondering how you feel about therabreath mouthwash. I’ve been hearing a lot of great reviews on it.
Hi Whitney, I have a question about mouth rinses. Since they kill 99% of bacteria, wouldn't usage of them daily (even those without staining ingredients or the non-alcohol ones) destroy even the good bacteria in our mouth? Wouldn't that be bad for our mouth? And how do we then replenish this good bacteria? I did not know that the mouth has good and bad bacteria just like our gut. Or perhaps I am wrong. Can you please do a video or short when you can? 😅
yesss! I did this about peroxide -- but same goes for the alcohol ones! hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/_AfaJf4M6Hg/w-d-xo.html thank you for watching!!!

Therabreath mild mint is the best mouthwash I’ve tried all other brands and this one works the best. No artificial color, no alcohol and it makes your breath fresh all day literally and no morning breath !
I used to use that then I changed to oxyfresh
@@lovemuffin10101 apologize for the late reply but I had a quick question.
Is it worth to buy Oxyfresh if you already have the TheraBreath mild mint mouthwash ?
Thanks for the info, didnt know bout this. Been using antiseptic mouthwash the whole time thought it was for my teeth since im cavity prone. Im gonna change mouthwash right away. Thanks again.
so happy to help!!!
I used to use Crest mouthwash, but then I read the label and realized that there was sugar in the ingredients! I used Listerine now.
Thank you for this!
thank YOU for this kind comment. I'm so happy to hear you enjoy! PEACE LOVE & TEETH!
Out of all the videos I watched researching mouthwash, yours is the best.
New sub! 😊
so happy to hear that! thank you for watching and subscribing :)
Two of your videos and am sold. Subscribed right there. At 48 yrs, just started wondering why tooth brushes have started having an attitude on me. Now am understanding everything. Thank you.
thank you for being here :)
I use blue Listerine it's for me the best.
I love Therabreath personally
I use Listerine Cool Mint and Act Anticavity Mint. My mouth feels so clean!
Recap
Get Mouthwash with Zero Alcohol
Use Antiseptic Mouthwash in the Morning
Use Anticavaty/ Fluoride Mouthwash at Night
(Best for braces and ortho treatment)
Mouthwash is not a substitute for brushing or flossing.
Wait 30 minutes after using Anticavaty/ Fluoride Mouthwash before eating/drinking again.
another great recap :) thank you!
Great info. I was confused every time I was at the store and didn't know the difference in mouthwash. Teeth Talk Girl, you have a great personality that fits so good for your profession.
Hello, how often should we clean our tongue in a day? And how many seconds should be spent to clean the entire tongue using toothbrush/tongue scraper
Because of my recent tooth extractions I was prescribed Chlorhexidine Gluconate. What a mouthful...
so cool how passionate you are with oral health. thank you for the info, definitely something learned
thank you for being here! and commenting kind :)
I use both Listerine and ACT . One for morning, one for night. I just came onto this video for confirmation that thats okay to do 😅😅
I was not aware there were different types. I have a prescription toothpaste for fluoride. And then I use Sonicare mouthwash. I have an electric Sonicare toothbrush. I just found your videos and find them enjoyable
I use Listerine Total Care in the evening and Crest Gum Care in the morning. Both alcohol free :)
this is so helpful. I didn't realize there are two main types of mouthwashes. I usually just buy the brown Listerine one which is an antiseptic. I'll now add this into my routine. thanks.
yay thank you for commenting! so happy to share this info!
Moth toothpaste has it but....never thought to make sure 😅😳
cheers for the session on mouthwash .. thanks to your youtube vids my teeth cleaning regime has upgraded to another level 🤗😁
yay! so happy to hear that! thank you for this!
I've heard after brushing that you should wait 5-10mins before doing mouthwash. Mouthwash will be not effective. Is it true?
I love the burning sensation, it makes me feel like "DIEEE GERMSSS" even if I'm tearing. It also points out the places where I haven't reached because they're not burning.
Who else brushes first, then flosses, then uses mouthwash? I personally use ACT but only anticavity. I had no idea there was an antiseptic for gums. Will buy asap
The burning in antiseptics always made me feel like they worked better. At least that's the correlation I made in my mind somehow, which... Obviously not based on any kind of science 🤦🏾♂️
same i could only have the burning ones
It's the cetylpyridinium chloride which causes the burning sensation.
There are other very good mouthwashes with good anti bacterial properties that do not contain cetylpyridinium chloride such as Dentyl pH, and hence no burning sensation.
At every dentist checkup, they ask if I drink coffee because my teeth are stained. I brush twice a day and floss at night. I was thinking about adding a whitening mouth wash to my mornings and ACT restoring after lunch so I can reduce the staining of the 1 cup of coffee I drink per day in the morning. What are your thoughts?
Love this I needed this! Got my ACT Flouride mouth wash today now I need to get my antiseptic one. :)
I use it too but it's so harsh, it pills off my inner lip
@@Mali-fm3rc same, got canker sores soon after using it
Great video.
I wish there was a mouthwash with both antiseptic and flouride 🥺
I have always been a Listerine lover, it makes my teeth so clean and fresh along with my Oclean W10 water flosser.
The gold listerine feels like hell but it’s the best one in my opinion
Gold is hard core and my go too
Gold is harsh, but that’s what I want for my teeth
It feels and TASTES like hell. But yeah it does the best for sure!
I know right it burns like hell and I have to swish it for 30 seconds and I am in
I’m surprised that you haven’t mentioned Listerine gum therapy in your video.
Same 😂 I like this pulsing itchy pain HAHAHAH 😂
So I have a very gingivitis and plaque prone mouth, and I have an oral routine with everything in it.What mouthwash do you think would be best for me? ( brand, type, etc)
What's your opinion on therabreath mouthwash? That's what I use since those other mouth washes would make my breath worse because of the alcohol..the color ones too. Now I wonder am I harming my gums with only using therabreath?
Therabreath is definitely the best in my opinion! My favorite for sure. No bad breath at all 👌
Would you recommend a mouthwash that contains Lactoferrin? Dental cleanings (scraping) are important to remove plaque, which is composed of a biofilm that essentially protects the cavity causing bacteria. Lactoferrin was originally used in the meat packing business because it is shown to prevent biofilm formation which in turn extends the meats shelf life. Biotin used to contain Lactoferrin but no longer does. When I used Biotin in the past I had no cavity check ups even though I brushed less. I contacted the maker of Biotin about this change but they wouldn’t explain why Lactoferrin specifically was d/cd from their formula.
Great Info and great videos! Thanks for helping others out with their oral health. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for watching! Sending positive toothy vibes your way :)
Can we drink it
My wife and I use the purple non-alcoholic Listerine, and every morning we wake up with a white, opaque film that lines our gums. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t happen with the alcohol version. Do you know what the film is?
You know I never would have pictured her to have this outro music, but I’m wit it!
So what’s the difference between Anti cavity and the Fluoride?
Super happy i found your channel! I decided i needed to take better care of my oral hygiene 🙈
Yay! I'm so happy you're here! Thank you for watching :)
and TOTAL PROPS for stepping up your oral care game!!! 100%

I know I’m sad but I love the act because of the dose measurement
D Miele 1224vac squeeeeeeeze
totally I love the built in cup too!!!
My favorite is the purple one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for educating us.
Big help 🙌
Dumb question...What about mouthwashes that say "anticavity"
But somewhere along the list of things the mouth wash says "kills bad breath germs"..
is it safe to use twice a day?
Or will i kill my good bacteria too of i do this?
I like the little burn cuz just feels like its working
Same
Never had a cavity in my life and have been using Listerine for about 30 years. Love the burn! ;-)
@@TheCrypticEspadahow do u know if the ph level is 6 or above??
@@TheCrypticEspadai use Act anticavity alcohol free mouthwash ..
How do you feel about the crest 3D?
My Dentist told me to use Act. I have used it for the longest time and like it.
I like the burning so much I wash my face and eyes with it every morning.
Oh-
@@psychopsycho837 I was only kidding.👍
@@lostboi3974 hahaha
Lol
after swishing the mouthwash for a minute and spitting out, how long should i wait till rinsing with water ? is it 30 minutes ? can you leave it on overnight ?
I didnt know this this now. I'm going to try both. I'll try the act one as well.
Crest Gum Care is great from my experience. It comes in a white bottle.
the burning sensation for listerine is just too much 😂
Does anyone know of a hydroxyapatite mouthwash? The whole ‘fluoride is toxic’ thing is concerning.
Thanks for another great video, Whitney
here is my video about hydroxyapatite and fluoride - hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/kQAPEZaqwfY/w-d-xo.html
Finally, an excellent informative video, Thank You!
