Too bad it's been a year because I would tell you to not take her advice on toothpastes and mouthwashes. This video just seems like a commercial for Listerine and ACT. Two of the worst mouthwashes out there.
TheraBreath is a good mouthwash. There are other good mouthwashes out there as well. But I do not use mouthwash on a regular basis. I use a tooth powder by Frau Fowler. It contains baking soda, pink Himalayan salt, and peppermint and spearmint essential oils. Toothpaste is not good for your mouth because it will dry out your mouth and gums with the ingredient, sodium laurel sulfate. That's what makes the paste foamy like soap in your mouth. Dry gums are bad.
The tooth powder that I use makes your mouth alkaline. That's the best thing for your mouth and gums. If the pH balance in your mouth is off, problems will arise. Most any mouthwash will throw off the pH balance in your mouth and dry it out. So will regular toothpaste. I haven't used paste in years. And I rarely use the mouthwash that I have.

I think you're hygienist was trying to tell you something. Like stay away from them! 😂🤣
Listerine and Act are among the worst mouthwashes out there. They will dry out your mouth. And if you don't think you feel dry, then you've gone "dry-mouth blind" if you will.
When I stopped using toothpaste and mouthwash many many years ago and switched to tooth powder, that's when I realized just how dry my mouth was before. Yuck and Ew all over! 😝 I ran out of my powder and it was taking longer for the next shipment so I just used the paste in the meantime. Right after brushing with that awful paste for the first time in a long time, my mouth immediately felt dry again. Something I haven't felt in years after not using paste and regular ol' mouthwash. Never again with the paste! 😜 I make sure I order extra powder and I order the next batch when I still have plenty left.

The only time my teeth felt completely clean all day even after eating or drinking was when I would religiously brush twice a day with Arm and Hammer Truly Radiant toothpaste. The best I can describe it was like a continuous minty smoothness when I'd feel my teeth with my tongue that somehow didn't interfere with anything I ate but it's so hard to find now! I was so excited when I found it in Mexico but it wasn't the same. ☹️

I'm a dental hygienist in the UK and I would never recommend using a mouthwash immediately after brushing. There is more fluoride in toothpaste than there is in any mouthwash. Just spit out your toothpaste and dont rinse, let that high concentration fluoride sit on your teeth for a while. Why would you rinse off something that's high in fluoride with something lower in fluoride? If you want to use a mouthwash, use it separate to brushing, in the middle of the day, or after lunch, so you don't lose the benefits of the toothpaste.

I’m so glad I found your channel! I’ve been through the wringer with my teeth. I was never taught to brush, and I’ve been through different scandalous dentists, replacing six front crowns three times due to improper ethics and work. Now I'm 24 yrs old. Recently I had an implant on one of them because it was shaved down like a toothpick to place on one of the crowns. Also, an infection on the top of that tooth from the root canal of the previous doctor. I can FINALLY say I found a dentist I can trust. Everything is good and healing nicely. I’m a clean freak about my teeth now. So thank you for being a real one and informing people on proper dental hygiene.
……… And for anyone else reading, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T neglect your teeth. Please do something about it before it’s too late.
I have one question, does the bottle have to say antiseptic on it? The one you recommend doesn't in the link.

Great videos! I have been a dental hygienist for 10 years and I really appreciate your time in getting the information out there. I thought I would mention, though, Listerine Zero is NOT an antiseptic rinse. We had a Listerine rep visit us in hygiene school who cautioned that it is basically a bad breath rinse and does not have the same therapeutic properties as their antiseptic rinses. If you check the label, it actually says "mouthwash" in the yellow strip where others will say "antiseptic." Great information otherwise. Keep it up!

    I have three questions.
    1) should you rinse the toothpaste from your mouth with water before using mouthwash or does it not matter?
    2) With the antiseptic, should you rinse with water afterwards or leave it like the fluoride?
    3) Should the antiseptic be the last step in your routine like the fluoride?

Great video! I have a question: I only use antiseptic mouthwash because I am prone to gum bleeding/gingivitis. Would it be helpful to also use fluoride mouthwash if I’m not prone to cavities (I’ve never had any afaik) or would it not do anything for me? I have had two root canal treatments if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I grew up decades ago - dentists never offered any information about taking care of one's teeth - and years later, I realized they had no idea what they were doing - except pretending u had cavities - and drilling away. There were no dental hygenists at the time. The dentists in NYC/Brooklyn, NY cleaned my teeth - something which they had no training and did a poor job. The dentist I go to now, in southern Calif., has state-of-the-art equipment and a great dental hygenist. Dentistry has come a long way --- and the mouth-washes have greatly improved. I also had no idea they actually help with keeping ur teeth from getting cavities (fluoride) and helping with the gums. I've been using a sonicare electric toothbrush for 25 years - and I highly recommend. Costco sells sets of 2 --- and there are several choices. Read the reviews on their site. Thanks for ur video - such helpful information.

So I’m fresh out of college and have decided to try and do some research and think for myself about my teeth for once 😂
I have literally only ever had one cavity my entire life. However, my teeth aren’t as white as I would like them to be. I’ve used whitening strips and they’ve worked for a short period but my teeth always become too sensitive so I always have to wait.
So I want to whiten my teeth while also keeping everything else healthy, what mouthwash should I use? I also was looking at toothpaste and I saw that Hello oral care activated charcoal is the best for white teeth...should I buy this and try it out or should I just stick with white I’ve been using my whole life?

I like the burn personally, I get it's not needed but it pseudo feels like its working more.
I always rinse after but I try to use mouthwash longer due to it, if I don't rinse it just makes my mouth water the whole time, it says not to shallow so it just pools up over time (kinda think this is also a psychological thing too) as it only happens after I rinse.

@Teeth Talk Girl Amen to all the above My Aunt is a RDH/Director of Dental I guess you'd say DOD. I will just say my closets always stocked with dental supplies. I am going to school following her foot steps. I currently work as a CNA while attending school. She says the same thing. And always tells patients that mouth wash doesn't replace flossing or brushing. And will just say my residents at work teeth are always clean when I work most of my coworkers can't stand teeth. I dont get it it's way better then some other things there. also it maybe because she rubs off on me but I dont change my brush every 6months after a visit or when the brush looks dull. I use a powered brush so I like changing it ever 3months or every other which ever I'm in the mood I know could be pricey but hey got connections to get more. 😎 Any how I love your videos they're very informative and fun to watch.
