To be honest when the blue tape went on I thought ohhh ummmm nooo please stop that 😆 but the twine you put over it totally rescued it. Phew! Looks great!
Hahaha 😂 I totally feel bad for doing it. But it was the fastest and the best way to get them to stay put xD I pack all my friends plants in that tape 😂
It turned out fantastic! The trellis is there to make the plant look good, not the other way around. I put off replacing the trellis for my Hoya carnosa this summer after putting it off for a year or so, and it`s no easy task to manage a bunch of heavy tendrils, each with a mind of their own. Good work!
Milo, using tomato trellises was a brilliant idea! I was thinking, "Oh, just cover it with twine or raffia and it will look... Damn, he's done it already... Great minds think alike! "
Haha :D Exactly! I think they worked out well ion the end and you can't see the tape anymore really. People who can't find trellises easily understand this struggle 😂
I loved how you made what you had work. The biggest plant chore I was putting off was cleaning al the dirt off my big plant shelf and putting up the new grow lights I got for winter, but I finally got around to it yesterday! I think the trellis definitely turned out better and you didn't break any vines! :)
I mean, I could have waited for a bigger trellis, but then who knows when this would get done. Oh, good you got that done! I need to buy more LEDs - another task I've been putting off for months. I gotta do it before December 😂 Maybe I will use Christmas lights as grow lights 😂
Doug Chamberlain makes trellises from fence :) they look great with these huge hoyas. You couldn’t have picked a more visible tape :D The result is great though.
I should have picked a golden tape. It would be fabulous. I use the rabbit fence for smaller hoyas :) I cut myself on the wire all the time. Maybe that should be a Halloween video - Bloody Hoya Trellising
They have nice ones in Sweden but they cost a lot! Also, not in all sizes. But I would never order them, it would cost too much with shipping. I will satisfy myself with my DIY solutions xD
Hi! Oh my goodness- when you got startled from that tape I really felt for you! I too, startle so easily. Glad you’re so quick to laugh it off =) And that Hoya is a QUEEN 😍 Much love from Canada. ☀️🌿🌻
I get startled like that every day, 10 times a day at least. Like, sometimes the hoodie on my sweatshirt shifts and it scares me 😂 Thank you for the nice words ❤️ I hope it's not too cold in Canada yet!
Oh, I feel you. I have glasses with water and cuttings everywhere. Literally months and months and months. I decided I won't cut my plants unless I have someone specidic in mind I want to gift a cutting to.
Hello Miro!!! Betsy Begonia recommended your channel. I actually was explaining to Betsy that I recently purchased a Hoya Macrophylla and she mentioned her experience with Hoya Macrophylla was horrific and she will not purchase this one again. Then I tuned into your channel and then voila!!!, you're re-trellising the exact Hoya I just purchased and mentioned to Betsy!!! Had no idea that this Hoya was renamed,... It is now the Hoya latifolia?!?!? I LOVE the heavy leaves. Mine isn't as big/long as yours but I'm really inspired by your video!!! Thank you!!!
Uuuuu nothing better than starting the day with one of your video. Love it 💕 Update Comment: Miro You did an awesome job. 👍 Laughed all the way through it.
Having seen 2 min of this video and an hour ago the one on Rhaphidophera (2 meter and no camera angel to show it) I was prepared for showtime when you introduced the very lively trellis - I was not disappointed. This is the most hilarious plant video on YT. Perhaps you shift to entertainment? I'm very impressed by the results you have got out of working with your plants. Contrary to what you say I actually got new info this time over.
I do have a B roll of Raphidaphora but it really didn't work in the video. It is just too big. I did try to tilt it a bit, but as you saw that wasn't the best idea. This video was just for fun :) It was something that had to be done so I wanted to do it on camera. I really didn't expect it would be funny. But I think it is good to have a balance of new information and entertainment as perhaps not everyone is able to listen to dry video filled with new info and also, I guess it is part of my personality too :)
The word peduncles just gets me everytime 🤣 This whole video is just me every repot 🤣💗 Plant project I'm too lazy to do- repotting the miltoniopsis. They're climbing out of the pots and upwards and I don't wannaaaa. But new root tips are drying. But it's going to take ages. Why do I have so many. They're annoying me now. Plant neglect 😅

I royaly messed up my oncidium type orchid (really it is not that, but I forgot how the flowers look like, I thought I would remember which is which without labeling and I didn't!) It is climbing now... but where?! No support for it. I will have to watch your videos on how to repot them properly so they can climb. Also, I dislike this habbit of theirs xD

Oh, I said that so many times in the video! I had to cut the other ones out, it portrays me as a very weak person xD And I feel your String of hearts pain. That thing is impossible to untangle. I actually was trying to find green raffia before the pandemic but I couln't find one!
I feel your pain for the lack of good trellises. There is a fancy Dutch brand making beautiful ones, but they cost more or less as a kidney on the back market. I might try my hand at making one in some point. The plant task I have been putting off forever is repotting my zz plant. The poor thing has doubled in size, the plastic pot is about to burst open and the branches are now taller than my 6yo, but I still think it can maybe wait till next spring, right? :D
We don't even have fancy trellises. Just plastic ladders that are not very tall. Oh I feel you! I need to repot my Cymbidium orchid - the roots are breaking the pot open, and I am like... "sooo next spring, right?" 😂

I already made a video about that - A Tale of Two Hoyas :) It was IDed as Hoya latifolia to me by an expert :) There is a big confusion about these two! (and many other hoyas sadly).
@@BasiePlants I referenced the page from your link titled, "Thehoyan." If you read it carefully, it appears as though the theory regarding macrophylla and latifolia being the same plant is pure conjecture. Is your authority solely from this one account? Or have you been able to find any other supporting documentation? I'm unable to find any material regarding marophylla portrayed as a variegated version of latifolia. Very curious!
@@BetterThanNada1 There is another link in the description, that should lead to a page A Hoya Study Corner by SC Plants. Hoya macrophylla and Hoya latifolia are not the same, but many Hoyas in the trade now that are sold as macrophylla are in fact not true macrophyllas. What I tried to explain in the video is that the confusion goes way back, and that it is no wonder that no one is selling this under the correct ID. It is not the only mislabeled Hoya - tsangii, DS-70, sp. aff. burtoniae are another example. And the whole confusion with parasitica and verticillata and many, many other hoyas. Christine Burton was in her time the head of International Hoya Association so I tend to trust this source. I can't say that all hoyas that look like mine are in fact latifolias but I do believe mine is since it was, as I said, IDed by a very well-known Hoya collector (the flower is only relevant - the corona and corolla).

You did an amazing job! It looks so good. Love watching all your videos ❤️ I was wondering, do the ends of the vines on your Hoyas ever dry out and die? Mine sometimes do that even when I don’t miss a watering. Not sure what I’m doing wrong 😕
Yes, this happens to me as well. It can happen for several reasons: not enough water, touching the vines as they grow, sudden change in humidity, spider mites. If it is care related/ environment related, than it is easy to fix. But I would check the vines to make sure it is not spider mite related. I did a video on this too and how to recognize the damage :)
I think it looks way better!! My procrastination project is re potting two of my orchids. They are consistent bloomers and I'm super worried that when I re pot, I will make them grumpy somehow😂
Oh, I feel you! I have those moments too with orchids. I usually check the roots and decide if it's okay for them to stay in that mix a bit longer or not. :)
I've had it for couple of years but it was quite big when I bought it. It didn't do much in the first year, but it has grown a lot more in the second year. I think it needed more time to acclimate. I would say it was 2-3 years old when I bought it. So probably, 5? I am not sure.
@@BasiePlants do you have issues with finding a proper stake for non-vining plants in semihydro? This is where the cage appealed to me bc I didn’t want to put a wood support in leca only to rot in the water 😅
Tape is scary. 😂 it looks great, better, and I can't see any blue tape. Want to come and repot my very prickly cactus? I've put it off for over a year. The headgear. LMAO.

If the vine points down rather than up it can dry up and die. If you help it to stay directed upwards it will continue to grow and produce leaves

I've had it for couple of years but it was quite big when I bought it. It didn't do much in the first year, but it has grown a lot more in the second year. I think it needed more time to acclimate. I would say it was 2-3 years old when I bought it. So probably, 5? I am not sure.
@@BasiePlants thanks for letting me know about your plant
I have a giant Dracaena tree I need to repot but I'm so so lazy!!! I think I'll wait until spring 😂
Spring of which year? 😂 I have been saying the same for some of plants since the spring of 2019. I guess 2021 is my year. Or not 😂
@@BasiePlants Hahahaha probably not!!!
I love it !!!!!
Turned out far better than I hoped! :D
After putting my Hoya multiflora in a tomato cage this is super validating haha
Haha 😂 Well, what can I say - great minds think alike? 😂
@@BasiePlants do you have issues with finding a proper stake for non-vining plants in semihydro? This is where the cage appealed to me bc I didn’t want to put a wood support in leca only to rot in the water 😅
You so emuse me , your sweet.
And nice job 👍
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it 😄
نبات هويا روعة شكرا ❤
Tape is scary. 😂 it looks great, better, and I can't see any blue tape. Want to come and repot my very prickly cactus? I've put it off for over a year. The headgear. LMAO.
It turned out much better than what I hoped for in the end. It is magic. xD Oh, no cacti repotting for me. They prick me when I don't even go near them. Especially Opuntia. I swear they hate me 😂
Watch Doug Chamberlain's video - How To Build a Rabbit Fence Trellis For Hoyas. You have such a huge and beautiful hoya.
I watch his videos all the time :) I use rabbit fence for smaller hoyas. Thank you 😊
Cleaning underneath planters and pots with disinfectant Dreg of life
Now that was fun to watch haha💗 turned out pretty well though! (I did not forget the tags btw.... I am still thinking about channels to choose😷)
I choose any channel I enjoy watching and I probably have chosen over a hundred there's no limit to how many you choose just may be a limit to how many you have the bell ring for you which I don't have any bells ringing. I'm subscribed to his channel I love his videos
@@kathleenmurphy2379 This was about the plantuber tag at the end of the video ' Zero Plant Haul' he did the sweetest thing and tagged my channel so now I am doing the tags in one of my next videos but I am still thinking about what channels I want to tag;) I would like to choose nice small plant channels that are just starting out just like mine.
It turned out MUCH better than I thought it would xD I was truly scared half-way through. I wish there were better trellises to buy here, but this will do :) I am sure the Hoya will cover it all soon too, so nothing will be visible.
Oh, also! Don't worry about the tag at all! But I bet people will love to see your houseplants too 😄
@@BasiePlantsI just uploaded a houseplant movie yesterday and when it was finished i thought damn forgot the tags! haha I'm so smart! And I think the trellis looks great even now you just see the plant that is beautiful. And this is reall life.. you should see me struggle with bamboo sticks and rope...
💚💚💚❤
Blue tape 😏
Raffia 😍😍😮😮🎉🎉
😂 Well, it worked! (better than I thought it would xD)
Hahaha yeh it does look better 😜👍 well I should remove the screen door on the balcony take off the finer mesh & and keep the bigger hole intact then put it back on so more light can come through. It might not work and might take up a whole day. Hehehehe
I think it looks better too! Oh, I sacrificed my curtains so more light could come in as well. Now, people stare in all the time xD You win something, lose the other thing.
@@BasiePlants hahaha for sure . I don’t have curtains in my unit . I do live on the third floor . I have plantation shutters instead.
Repotting my orchard after it fowers
Oh, I have few of those too!
For me Hoya Bella smells like very weak violet
It reminds me of a weak hyacinth smell I think.
I am too lazy....I just shove a stick in and clip the vines to it!
That's how I do it sometimes 😂 Shhhh 🤫
@@BasiePlants 💚
I need to get rid of my frozen tomatoes and other outdoor plants in my garden bed. Worst job ever.
Oh it doesn't sound pleasent. :/ I hope you can get it done quickly!
@@BasiePlants it is like a little funeral with each plant.
Repotting ALOT of plants
