I was diagnosed with 3rd stage Cancer 12 months ago and doctors were not sure if I cud be cured. At the same time my lover left me. So I had to not only deal with cancer but also with the heartbreak I received from my loved one when she left me. While feeling low about life, suddenly one question popped up in my mind. " Why do some people change their minds and become irresponsible when it comes to love and money?" The Book " Principles by Ray Dalio" gave me the answer. Dan, I saw you in facebook like 18 months ago. I watched most of your videos and even read your book FU money which is very motivational. I got to know about "Principles by Ray Dalio" from you around 12 months ago. This book saved my life from very critical situation. The book explained me everything about rationality and having open radical mind at all situation. The concept of " Higher mind' and " Lower Mind" touched me and gave me my answer that People who run after their lower mind always change their mind like Lizard changes color. But people who follow " higher mind" are open and conscious and big thinker. They own their outcomes and are radically open minded. This concept made me strong and motivated me to think big about life.
Today Its been 6 months since the cancer is gone from my body. I dont miss anything from the past coz I am guided by my future. I have completed 15 books already and already made a business plan which will change my life forever now and I am building it with my trusted childhood frn. It all started with me reading that book "Principles"suggested by you. Thank you Dan. I may not have dollars to enroll in your classes but I get the gist of your teaching and I am working hard on my own to build the riches around me and within me.

Reading for self improvement changed my life. When I was in high school I started reading everyday even on my break when I worked at McDonald’s. My family was poor and struggled a lot so I was determined to make something out of my life. Now I’m graduating college and starting my job on Wall Street in August.

I'm actually not so sure on this one. I do think it's a great book, but for a young person starting out the amount they have to invest is likely to be small, and as such Graham's teachings will be of limited use. Time spent doing the in depth company analysis and finessing a portfolio for an extra 1-2% per year will only be a few £/$/€ if you only have small amounts to invest to begin with. Would that time be better spent doing more of whatever you do to bring in money? Further, if you put your hard-earned £1,000 into a single stock and cock it up badly, resulting in a serious loss then it's going to be a terrible start to your investing career and likely to put you off entirely.
Instead I'd start with Common Sense on Mutual Funds by Fogle and put the investing on semi-autopilot for the first few years while you build up enough capital to take decent size positions. Then graduate to the Intelligent Investor if you feel you will be able to do better than the market or fund managers by picking your own stocks.

We read that book in in university. To be quite honest, once I got to internship.. and a job.. and professionally traded options/futures.. and became a business owner.. I realized, value investing based books like that are largely bs. In all honesty, value investing in the stock market is/has been dead a long time. P/E, EPS.. P/B... all that bs doesn't do anything to move a stock really.

@@wololo4761 you got a point there, but in my opinion, stock screening nowadays is far easier because of all of those investing platforms. Kids started to be financially literate earlier and some of them have made their way to become a millionaire in just 5-10 years by doing side hustle and investing their income to the stock market and beat the market by 5-10% or even more. So, this book is even more applicable now.

I just finished reading The Richest Man in Babylon. I would highly recommend reading this book. I wish I could have discovered it earlier in my life. Valuable is the wisdom within it's pages. I look forward to reading the other books on this list. I would be interested in hearing the Dan Lok perspective on The Richest Man In Babylon.

There are a few videos where Dan talks about the book The Richest Man in Babylon. Basically what he says is that he recommends to put aside (pay yourself first) way more than 10% of your earnings in this day and age in order to have a chance at getting rich.

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly-which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $125k bond/stock portfolio
