So this little phone right here is the Samsung Galaxy S24… regular. Just the S24, not the plus or the ultra and this is the one that is the smallest and most affordable in Samsung’s new flagship lineup. It offers the same powerful chip and many of the same features as the S24 Ultra but for a fraction of the price. But make no mistake, this is still undeniably a flagship and arguably the best flagship for most people to buy.

Additional review notes:
So first of all, even though this is the smallest, it is Now 6.2” instead of 6.1” and is definitely not a tiny phone by any means, but comparatively it is certainly more compact, weighing 28% less than the ultra.
Good for smaller hands, smaller pockets, or anyone not wanting 6.7” Plus 6.8” Ultra
My hands aren’t tiny but I still love small phones, and I also love boxy phones
Why I use the regular pro iphones instead of pro max
Boxier design!!!
Samsung finally made all three phones flat this year
The first compromise you will see here is the resolution at FHD+ but still 120Hz, dynamic amolde 2x with vision booster
Much like the Ultra, this comes in 4 colors Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet and Amber Yellow
But slightly different colors vs the ultra… weirdly
CAMERAS
Same specs as last year - 12MP selfie, 12MP ultrawide, 50MP primary, 10MP 3x tele
AI Features
Samsung baked AI features into the phone, with 4 main ones that stood out to me
There is an AI button throughout the UI now
i) Circle to search
ii) Chat enhancement (translate, change tone, check spelling/grammar) - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Hey Mike was s24 all series getting Snapdragon processor I heard only ultra has Snapdragon processor and rest of all are with exynoes processor
Im picking up a s24 with 716 euros (size of the phone and price to value), switching from oneplus nord from 2020 which is lagy by now , so im paying 743 with charger and a screen protector i say thats a good deal overall but the only choice i have in this Price range is iphone 15 which is 60hz , what you guys think should i get the phone ?
Love that you made a dedicated video for base model. Almost all s series videos are only focused on the ultra models and its soo irritating that you cant get detailed and specific video for the regular ones.
Ultra shouldn't have the S name, literally no way to search regular s series. All top results ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra fuccccc
That's been my frustration, since all the focus and talk is on the Ultra. The world kind of makes you think that big phones are the only way to go.
Honestly I wish the Ultra was still called the Note. Would prevent a lot of these headaches.
The ultra is too big for most people and its squared corners cut into your hand. I don't need or want the S-pen, nor the ultra's fancy camera features. I'm getting the S24 regular. Its resolution is just fine for a 6.2-inch screen and that extends its battery life too.

The 7 years os update thing is the best thing that Google and Samsung have decided to go with. The Google-Samsung collaboration is finally unifying the Android world.
sooo the s24 will get 7 consecutive years of software update? Even new OS versions?? Lol instead of two? Like previous models only got two years
Agreed
@@cautarepvp2079 No. Previous models get 4 years OS updates and 5 years or security patches.
@@cautarepvp2079so far, we were receiving 4 years of software and 5 of security I think. But yeah, big improvement.

Thank you for focusing on the regular model. Everyone keeps reviewing the Ultra
too bad it's coming with exynos where I am, Samsung doesn't even put it in the specs in their local site which is kinda iffy, reason why I just bought a regular s23 last month. will give the s24ultra a look, they have a good pre-order offer, but yeah it'll be gigantic for me.
@@metalsadman I was about to say, if you live outside the NA market, no Snapdragon for you, you get lumped with the Exynos space heater. Trash move by Samsung there, I can see why the chinese manufacturers are becoming more popular as they all offer the SD 8 gen 3 chip.

I'm so glad they're still making a phone small enough for my little hands and one that will easily fit into my front pocket. I'm so tired of huge phones.
Laughs in iPhone mini
I’m using the iPhone 15 Pro, which is nearly identical in size to the S24 and I must say, the phone is still quite huge.
The iPhone Minis fit my hand the best, sucks that most people prefer larger screens.
@@hongkong8907 yeah, I had the 12 mini, upgraded to 14 pro and tried to get used to it, after 3 months I sold it and bought the 13 mini. I felt so dumb wasting money on it so promised myself I’ll just use 13 mini until they make another one lol

S24 regular is underrated, while everyone just talks about the ultra which is just essentially the note reincarnate, seldom people mention the true S series which is the regular models and plus like s23/+ and s24/+ Thanks Mike for delivering us content about these ones. I was from the start only looking forward to the regular model given its size and other positives you mentioned. Other reviewers only pay attention to the ultra but for so many, ultra just isn't an option.
The 256gb is a big constraint when comparing this phone vs. others.
@@kelvinflowI have found as a professional photographer that uses his phone as a daily shooter that 256 is more than enough. I'm curious what your use case is that it isn't enough? Anytime I get close to "limit" I just offload my photos to my laptop or main rig pc, and that's where I'm doing my edits anyway.
The ultra this year Is more attractive to me because it’s a flat display

Agreed. When the note was around it was considered a niche product and got less attention. Now that it's basically just renamed ULTRA, it gets all the attention and the others are considered lesser phones. Just proves that marketing is everything and most people are willfully blind.

I doubt that small phones will be a trend because even now Samsung barely has a low end small phone, the A55 is apparantly going from a 6.4 back up to a 6.5 or 6.6".
And we don't get the A4x here in Europe which also hasn't had a 6.1" screen internationally since the A41 debuted.
As long as manufacturers put smaller battery and "worse" cameras, i doubt it will be a trend
I have the regular s23 and it's by far the best phone I've ever had. I sold my iPhone 14 pro and got that one instead and I never looked back. Literally perfect form factor for me and very responsive with long battery life. Will be interesting to see if it got an upgrade with the s24
why did you sold your iphone?
Off the top of my head: lack of universal back gesture, prefer fingerprint over face id, no native support for controlling Chromecast, very heavy, the notch (Dynamic island) was getting in the way of vertical content, bad keyboard (missing number row, prediction was bad, and can't move the marker where I want easily), and can't place apps where I want.@@scannner7499

Simple and straightforward review. Thank you
Thankyou for doing a solid review on the "regular" S24. So hard to find a review on the smaller size phones.
Phone nerds don't always want a phablet!
I'm running small S23. Quite frankly I love it's form. It fits in my hand and fits everywhere. Battery life with S8G2 is great (though I had doubts and concerns prior to buying it).
I like how similar it looks to the iPhone, I’ve never really liked the look of Samsung phones but the flat edges make it seem a lot more premium.
Wouldn’t curved edges make it seem more premium?
@@unknownplayer7667 Naw just a gimmick really, think about when Samsung used to make curved TV screens, now a thing of the past?
Thank you so much for this first look. This is the phone I'm buying (based on price and overall performance). Looking forward to a complete review with camera test. Thanks again.
The Samsung Galaxy Experience store in Kangnam, Seoul just put the s24 series phones out to try, today. Honestly, I think the Plus model will also do well. It isn't much smaller than the 24 Ultra (the thin clock line being the only difference in size), and has rounded corners. Was surprised that the 24's are quite a bit thinner in feel over the 23's. One thing I like about my s21 is that it's quite a bit thinner than the s22 and s23 base models and plus models are. It seems like they've gotten back to a thinner feel on the s24 base and plus models. Big win!
To be honest, I do feel the 24 Ultra's screen has lost a bit of pop and dimensionality compared to the 23 Ultra. The 24 isn't bad, but I didn't feel wow'd by it, either. Actually, I was surprised that the colors didn't really stand out like I remember the s23 Ultra doing in the stores. I might pick up a used 23 Ultra and save $500. Nice phones, but for the money, a used 23 someone is dumping for a 24 will be a bargain. I run the s21 and still don't see a need to upgrade. The base 24 and plus here are Exynos. I did feel some warmth on the base 24 model, but not the 24+
I went to a shop to see the phones in person, with S24ultra in mind mainly, but S24 base caught my eyes, next to S24ultra and S24+ it looks like such a cute little phone despite being 6.2"!
Looks small and slim yet perfect for on hand or pocket space, reminds me of iphone4!!
I am sort of confused if I should upgrade to S24 base or not, but paying 39% less money sounds cool.
Thanks for some top quality videos man.. appreciate your work!

I wouldn't mind 128 gb if there was expandable storage. But that simply won't do without it, especially if I'm going to have it for the next several years.
In the same boat tbh. There seems to be very few phones with SD cards other than Sony or older flagships
there's an offer on the Samsung website, the 256gb costs the same as the 128gb version
Remember that the iPhone 6s still had the 16gb option. That was definitely a nightmare.

And here we are in 2023 calling 800$ phones "affordable".
Screen Size is misleading. It`s still the same body dimensions
It`s 6.2 screen but LEGIT smaller than Zenfone 10 which has 5.9 screen size with THICK bezels
Excellent analysis! Thank you
Hi Mike, great job!
Thank you for your honest reviews.
Quick question. Do you know if the S23 cases will work on the S24?
Curved screen looks better, looks futuristic but it is a pain to install screen protectors. My wife had S8, and I was installing tempered glass almost every 2 months. Tempered glass breaks easily on the edges.
Finally a review on the s24 👍
Cool video. Translation feature is always been available with the SwiftKey keyboard very common on Android.. So not a big thing
So many reviews on the other models glad you do a review on the regular model.
S23 vs S24. Urgently needed.
Same same but different
Depends. S23 is worth $600, s24 is worth $800.
Using my S23 for a few months and STILL love it so much~ Would love that online exclusive blue color for the S24 tho ;;;
@@Seolhwaneulhow much battery backup are you getting?
I use the s23 and its freaking awesome. The s24 with a slightly bigger battery, more efficient chip and 7 years of promised update is just going to be better. Try getting the 24 with the launch offers if you are comparing between these 2. If you already have the 23, no point upgrading.

I haven't made up my mind yet. But I already decided that if I'm going to get any of these three choices, it'll be the S24 Plus. For once, it's closer to the S24 Ultra than the vanilla model.
Other than the size what how else is it closer? And if you want the ultra, why not just get the ultra not not the plus to be a wannabe ultra
@@Daniel-dj7fh Because first, I can't afford to pay the absurdly high price of the Ultra, even with a trade-in. Second, I don't need the S-Pen. Third, 3X optical zoom is plenty for me. If for some reason I need more, 30X zoom is more than enough for me. And lastly, aside from those previously mentioned features, the Plus shares all other features with the Ultra from the QuadHD+ display to the 12 gigs of RAM to the 256GB of starting storage.

The 1440p sells the s24 plus for me. That was usually the main reason for going with the ultras. To me, the 1080p displays make it feel lower-end.
Would love to see 4k in the ultra some day if it's possible.
the 1440p is actually impractical. Most laptops these days are still on 1080p and its plenty sharp. 1080p would actually be better for battery life. Unless you keep your phone extremely close to your face to the point that you want to see the individual pixels, 1080p is just fine
Because you'll notice the difference right.
The only thing different is how much faster your battery drains.
Like the other guy said, you can sill go by having 1080p on laptops because it doesn't make any sense, at 23" 1080p is at it's limits and on a 27" monitor you can see that it's not enough. I'm running a 32" monitor with 1440p and it looks great.
Here we're talking about 6.7" poopy sized screens.
@@Daniel-dj7fhbs. watch tests , battery drainage between fhd and 4k in UI is too small, I have experienced it years ago running 4K on a Sony phone with custom room, bumping up slightly brightness too, and the battery drainage was really small, at least they should pack 4K displays and add dynamic res like Sony phones, Sony runs FHD+ and it uses 4K for media.
@@Daniel-dj7fh we are closer from our phone screens than our monitors
@@anonymous-entity Anyone who says it's negligible either has very bad eyesight or that's your way of justifying not getting a higher end phone, which is fine. Also, the battery life difference is so small when it comes to resolution. Refresh rate makes a bigger difference.

UFS 4.0 on all storage options, or do we need to get at least 256gb? Also, all your AI demo's were with the Ultra. Are all these AI features on the smaller S24, too?
My only complaint would be the fact that, like the S23 before, this one also still doesn't have a 512 gigs version, I don't know why Samsung limits that to the Plus and Ultra models but it's still present this year. Hope they change that next year.
