There’s something beautiful about the reason Saint is most likely known as the greatest Titan who ever loved. It’s not because he could punch hard or keep walls standing, though he did both of those things. It’s because he was a selfless, dedicated savior.

@@Valiguss luckily, that was a likely future that vex'd created out in simulation. Osiris cheated his death by using sun dial that lead us to rescue him before vex sucks out his light. I hope that speculation is true.

Sadly he'll be there for a few missions, long enough for his to give him his shotgun, before he goes back to his own timeline to live out the same fate and start the "paradox" all over again.
Saint is pretty much the Doom Slayer of the Destiny universe, just a lot more kind in some regards

As Jasleen was from India that cloth ribbon is called Rakhi and women and girls tie it to brothers and people they trust to protect them and help them when they are in need. Just a side info if you guys are wondering.

@@aznjay94 It looks like he was on our version of Mercury in the trailer. I really hope he stays so he can fix the damn Vanguard. Ikora is damn near permanently depressed and Zavala doesn't seem to care about anything other than strikes or immediate threats. He's practically ignoring the fact that the darkness is on it's way, not to mention the ship on the moon. Come on commander, I liked you in D1.

This new Lore has given me even more respect for Saint-14. He really is the greatest Guardian to ever live.
I think that picture of Saint at rest has a pretty big message in it. People say, "Home is where the heart is." In a lot of this lore, it seems that Saint is always working alone. Without a fireteam. And that he cared little for boasting or stardom. Saint fought for what he truly believed in. And that was protecting others. Being there when they needed someone most and no one else was. Thats where his heart lead him. And seeing him in the end adorned with all his acolades. Saint wasnt alone. He was home.

Saint 14 is by far my favorite guardian in the franchise. I hope this next season is really good.
I have a question... If killing the undying mind has caused time to be screwed up and Saint can be brought back, doesnt that mean pahanin has a chance to be rescued from one of the timelines where he is still alive?
Not really. I'd suggest reading the latest lore entry on the bungie blog. It's about the Sundial and makes clear that this is not something that can be used more than once to bring someone back.
Blank am Pahanin was killed by Dredgen Yor, his story, unless I am missing something, is over. His arc has been closed, and he died intersecting the road sorrow goes.
Pahanin is dead. Do you perhaps mean Praedyth? He's the one from the original 3 man Vault of Glass raid that found himself trapped in time. Kabr and Pahanin both lost their lives. Kabr to the Templar and Pahanin to Yor

Personally, the thing I’ve found most interesting is how Saint was so close with the Sunbreakers, similar to Osiris, which really makes it all the more odd how Vuvuzela just seems to have it out for them
Will R That could imply that the Sunbreakers did something vastly horrible or traitorous inbetween Saint forging with the Sunbreakers, and Zavala taking over. How big? Are you familiar with Jupiter?
Zavala hated them because they didn’t defend the city, they basically acted as freelancers. Osiris tried to bring them in via a contract, but Zavala basically went on a rant saying they weren’t “true Guardians”. This in turn made the Sunbreakers furious, causing them to cut off all contact to the City and seclude themselves almost completely to Mercury. This would ultimately cause the end of the Sunbreakers, due to a large amount of them dieing on Venus during a job and and the rest being massacred by the Red Legion during the Red War.
Vampyrix this was during the time Saint-14 was on his Crusade against the Fallen, meaning Zavala was standing commander and had the last say. EDIT: NVM IGNORE ME I JUST FINISHED THE VID 😂

I think the instance of a guardian saving him when he was young is going to be us saving him from house rain on mercury after they kill all of the colonists he brought there
it baffles me that we haven’t had a mission where we just go save some refugees and get to know them as we escort them to the city, so they can revere us as the Legends we are.
Ah yes, the good old Comrade Saint-XIV; anectodal lore says one of the first Warlocks he met told him he should "use his head more". Never stopped using it since. 🤣
I can just imagine saint 14 going to the tower and seeing a bunch of titans wearing the helm and perfect paradox and internally scream
saint 14 has been one of my favourite characters since i first learned of his crusades & the headbutt, i love that they’re bringing him into the forefront of the game!
So I read Saint-14's name in the video's title and I smile in relief because I know it's going to be wholesome. Byf's gonna tell of a Guardian who fights as if he doesn't ever tire. I'm gonna listen to stories of a saviour and a protector who brings happiness where only suffering exists. And I'm gonna enjoy it.

Hey Byf,
Is it possible that Saint-14 was never killed, but slipped into a coma like state due to the constant drain on his light, that is why he is floating in a pool of light in his tomb, because a constant drain is keeping him from moving (so his body seems dead but his mind was preserved in a dream-like state)? And now that we have destroyed the undying mind, the constant drain is gone and his body is starting to reboot up similar to an old computer working once the power source is working again. i know this is a long-shot but it never seemed to me that he was dead. When Cayde-6 died he was dark and cold and no light shone from him or around him
But why would Osiris build the Sundial then? It wouldn't really make any sense, story-wise I think. Even though im Not Byf, or an expert on lore.
I teared up listening to this. Man is it well written/delivered.
Why this man isn't making some sort of animated series for bungie is beyond me. A guardian cartoon series explaining all this would be great.
I really want to see a cutscene or lore piece of Zavala talking to Saint-14. The conversation would be very interesting.
If memory serves, Zavala did look up to Saint like everyone else. So when Saint left everything to chase Osiris, I want to hear/read why Saint made that choice. Zavala must be wondering the "why" even to this day.
Personally, I've always wondered if Zavala thought of that when he decided not to pursue Cayde's killers. Was he afraid of making a mistake of leaving the city vulnerable? Does Zavala have any animosity towards Saint for leaving? So many questions, very few answers.
Saint left the city to go looking for osiris, the speaker didn't tell him to not go so its not like he abandoned the city.

That is where you're wrong. The Speaker having a say in his actions doesn't matter. Saint-14 chose to go after Osiris. I'm sure his intentions were good because he simply wanted to drag Osiris back, but the reality is he did leave. Saint went after Osiris instead of staying in the city.
Zavala was in a similar situation where he could have left to hunt the Barons, yet he did not. Zavala is still at the Last City as a Guardian who can defend it.

Again, you're incorrect, to some extent anyway. The Speaker and the Concensus were responsible for pushing Osiris away. Osiris leaving prompted Saint-14 to go after him. It is wrong to think that Saint wouldn't have gone just because the Speaker told him. Saint just simply would've found out some other way. Also, if I remember the grimoire correctly, the Speaker advised Saint-14 not to go after Osiris, but the Speaker knew what he said wouldn't change Saint's mind.
Sad part is the tragedy of it. Saint left to bring back one of the City's most powerful Guardians so they could both be there for the City. The reality of it was Saint never meeting with Osiris due to being trapped in a branch of the Infinite Forest. Osiris simply thought Saint was still at the City until our Guardian told him in CoO.
One thing that I love about the accolades that Saint-14 collected is the fact that he is an exo and it is typical for exos to lose their memory after a number of “reboots”. The accolades help him remember and maybe that is why he only made 14 reboots. Great lore very excited for season of Dawn
That soundtrack behind Byf's commentary, though. When The Farm began playing, I really started to feel the story. Beautifully done, Byf. The lore is part of the reason I love Destiny.
Byf and all others commenting here, a big thing I noticed from the Reveal Trailer... When we 1st see Saint-14 (the bit where he says "they call me the greatest Titan who ever lived") his armour is bare, as in NO ACCOLADES ON IT! So I speculate that we will rescue a Young Saint from a Fallen attack and in doing so inspire him to become the legend that he is known to be.
After the 3rd lore piece that dropped today I'm more convinced of the fallen thing
Thank heavens someone is going to relieve Zavala of command while some of humanity has somehow managed to survive his strategic incompetence.
I swear, it seems that guy gets more incompetent as the years go on. His most recent shenanigans, are ignoring the construction of the Scarlet Keep and he thinks that we'll defeat Savathûn simply because we defeated her brother. Zavala is perhaps the most naive and incompetent character in Destiny.

I dig this character. A gentle giant that isn't afraid to crush some skulls, and focuses entirely on others. Truly the greatest titan that ever lived.
It is so crazy that all along we were the one inspiring Saint to become the great Titan that he is. The perfect paradox being a weapon that we forged for him, because we know it is his weapon, although we were the one giving it to him in the first place. Cool Story moments bungie. Thx for that.

The new lore about Saint-14's 'Accolades" is among the best writing yet from Bungie. Thank you for reading it with such emotion and passion.
In dnd aspects, Saint-14 is warforged paladin-wizard: school of adjuration (multiclassing).
That bit with the old woman made me grin, a whole fight and Saint did not fire a single shot.

I have to say that Saint is definitely my favourite character after this. I adored his role in season of the splicer but after this I know he's the goodest bean.

I just cannot express how cool it is that we are the guardian that inspired saint-14. His story, especially if you have been a D-1 vet, has always been legendary so it feels really cool to be the legend behind such a legend.

Theory: We somehow travel back in time to the battle of the six fronts, maybe using the sundial. We then find Saint-14 and give him the perfect paradox. He goes on to fight in the battle of the six fronts and goes into the infinite forest to find osiris. The perfect paradox is destroyed while he is fighting the vex, and he dies. We then forge the perfect paradox out of the broken pieces. And hand it back to him in the battle of the six fronts. Again. It's a loop.

Imagine if Osiris understood Saint's Accolades. He might have stayed as commander if he understood his best friend just a little better. Just thinking about Saint's simplicity yet being such a complex person even Osiris couldn't understand fully why he fights.

I think he is actually talking about his reboots. Remember, Saint-14 is an exo and that number typically means they have been rebooted that many times. Although I do expect we'll find out the 15th wish soon.

A climactic battle against vex offensive 2.0
I hope Saint sticks around after Season of Dawn and such. Even without quests and such it feels nice to have an iconic Guardian in the tower to hear idle talk and just BE there. Ever since Cayde’s death the Tower especially the Hanger felt well *empty* hence why I hope Saint sticks around.
