So stop with hipocrisy or be consistent, as our planet cannot have billions of people enjoying equal privilege of using so much resources where they even spent some time having fun and not merely existence.

I really appreciate these talks. For so long we just had to listen to "interviews" with actors, models, sports figures... honestly, who cares what they think? They have nothing in common with me. And honestly, they're not qualified to have any particular wisdom.
Thankfully, other people's views- who are actually qualified- are a lot more accessible.

      I just watched your piece:
      “Slow Living Nature 2020”
Indeed you do touch the sky
there in Italia. Your sustainable gardens & panoramic views are simply beautiful! I enjoyed your work & simplicity in your lifestyle. It was especially authentic to me as I saw the firewood cook stove you use.
There was a deep sense of satisfaction conveyed in your
Presentation. I admire your commitment to your lifestyle.
All I could think of, aside taking in your view of beautiful surroundings, was the massive amount of effort & toil you give to your daily living.
It made me sad to think of you all alone up there without a helper or someone to enjoy your cooking. Goodness, your energy amazes me.
I also saw that you have studied psychotherapy. I imagined your Mountain View as an ideal place of respite from a strenuous mental work.
Then I came to appreciate your immersion into that remarkable
      Mountain View.
Aaaahhh, such a painter’s dream! Thank you for sharing.

Since I was a child I dreamed of living on a clean planet where one species didn't consider itself more important than anything else, including the very planet from witch they were created.
The recognition of the importance and power of humility is one of the things our species (collectively) lacks most.
It's also important for people to see how by raising up those around us, we also intrinsically raise up ourselves.

Hence why communist regimes always focused on eliminating illiteracy and providing education. If their ideals were ever to come to fruition the privilege of being well educated had to be universal. also a crucial privilege for a society is to be safe from foreign aggression, and have powerful friends, that was something communist regimes often struggle to provide, since the USA has it in for them.

The thing about privilege is to realise 'what levers are turned on' (to use his words) at each point in your life and make sure you use that to the best of your ability. If you are poor but manage to have access to education while you are young then jump on that occasion and make sure you share that knowledge somehow. If you are rich but female in a male dominated society and you dont have any 'rights' as we call it in the western world, then find a way to redistribute that wealth to others. It is always about doing the best with what you have and realising which privileges you possess at any given time as it is very unlikely that all levers will be turned off your whole life. And yes what is the end goal? People think its happiness but really it is the ability to help others and that can always be done in some form or other independent of privilege. Its just a question of changing the lens

The counter-attack to "loss of privilege" is not to consider a privilege in the firstplace whatever enters in the so-called human-conditioning field. If one just accepts the life and physical conditions of his/hers as a coincidence -either inherent or acquired coincidence- they will not suffer the loss. And it is, by all means, a sort of coincidence, even if, it is better thought of as a gift from the Universe. Accept what is, that is the dissolution of the concept of "privilege"

Inherited wealth is privilege (unmerited advantage), skin color is not.
Some people propagate an ideology that promotes the idea that white people have privileges because theyre white. If you dont have that ideological lens on it is clear that it isnt a case of _privilege,_ it's rather the case that white people dont experience the _disadvantages_ of being a POC. These 2 ways of framing the issue are distinctly different. The former is the result of a dehumanizing ideology that lumps human beings into essentialized, abstract catagories. The second is an acknowledgement that sometimes people arent treated fairly because of perceived race. The former promotes the idea that injustice solves injustice. The latter allows us to recognise one another as complex individuals with a common humanity, who require different kinds of support to create equality of opportunity, and to maximize flourishing across the board. The former is divisive, the latter is unifying.
Those of us who believe in fairness and equality of opportunity must not let the extremist idealogues divide us. Dont fall into the trap of using their manipulative language and objectifying fellow human beings under the misapprehension that it will create a fairer, more humane world. Complexity matters, context matters, nuance matters, accuracy matters because truth matters.

      @dylanrice5696 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Frederik sh I completely agree with you on the point that who you are born as decides most of your chances in life. It is unfortunate that so many are born to poor circumstances; nevertheless, when we consider merit from an economic standpoint, ability is all that matters in how it’s measured. Accounting for privilege as a corrective measure is impossible and leaves room for vast inefficiency in multiple ways. 'From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs' seems like a good idea but CANNOT be accomplished in a world with finite resources. Look into the horrors of the Soviet Union and then tell me that marxism can ever work. Postmodernism is destroying our society because of people like you who look at the world through their resentment rather than empathy. To truly make the world a better place, we need to give more opportunity to those who need it most in a way that doesn’t destroy and discriminate against those who don’t. No, this does not include equal education or healthcare; however, it should include basic health services and education. Capitalism is what allows all of this to happen in the first place. The unfortunate reality of capitalism is that it is not fair to everyone. Just live with that or else you are making your life seem worse and legitimately harming the prosperity of generations of the future by contributing to an ideology that doesn’t work.

In the mentioned talk about the great value of connections with other people, there's not a single damn word with whom we should have our connections. We can have them with other "privvileged" people and we can be happy even more, than when we make connections with the less "privileged" people.
Everytime when anyone tries to change my mind on any topic using charisma, jokes, cheap tricks, emotional words etc., instead of using just good arguments, that's when I sense BS.
Above I pointed the BS in this talk.
Another one is the insinuation that every privilege can be lost or leaved. He didn't said not a single word about all these privileges that we can't lost or leave. People that are pretty can't loose is that we like more the prettier people. People that are born more intelligent can't loose it that intelligence is one of the most important factors of life success. People that are born in happy families can't loose it that their life had much more better start than the less fortunate. He mentions the so called "toxic masculinity" as if it was a fact. Oh, I wonder what is his opinion about the toxic femininity. Probably never heard of.
This talk is harmful. It promotes the ideology that every privilege can be left behind, even the biological ones. It's plain BS wrapped in some nice and soft tricks.
