Everyone saying turn it off and close the lid needs there grill card revoked. It’s a gas grill not charcoal. That means the grill has vents always open to feed the gas fire so the grease fire will continue to burn with the lid closed. Bakeing soda is a better option or fire extinguisher
Exactly. You can't just close the lid on a gas grill to snuff out the fire, because of the way they're made. Gas grills have a long slot along the back that you canNOT close or block off. It's there to keep the grill from overheating. If that weren't enough there's another opening at the very bottom of the grill. It's there to funnel grease down into a small aluminum pan to be disposed of once it solidifies. That pan has to be cleaned out before you fire up the grill again. I guarantee they didn't clean that pan out from the last cook, the grease got hot and caught fire. Ask me how I know. With a charcoal grill you close the lid and close all the vents, the fire can't get oxygen so it goes out-almost immediately. In over 80 percent of all fires involving a grill, the grill was a gas grill.
And the only thing I can say me growing up here in Texas when we barbecue our food, we use a smoker homemade smoker attached to a trailer. Stay safe with your guys and girls. Viva la raza go Texas Longhorns.
After watching this & dealing with the same thing, I've decided to remain in charcoal team. Because that's more than enough fire for me to control, plus I don't need to worry about me cooking with a gas bomb waiting to happen if anything can happen to it.
This happened to me today. Turn off the gas, turn off the burners, then take off any food. Close the top for a bit to see if it helps lessen the flames. After it calms down a bit, take the tray out cuz most likely it is from all the food/oil drippings that haven't been cleaned from previous usage. I was told to use foil on the tray, use it a few times and then, take that off, clean it and put a new sheet of aluminum foil. Keep the areas in between the burners clean cuz they can burn as well. Good luck!
Turn off the burner. Close the valve on the propane tank. Shut the lid. Keep a water hose handy to keep all surrounding objects from catching fire. Don’t use water on a grease fire.
For everyone saying only to shut off the burners- You can do that, but you should also close the valve on the tank in case there is a leak somewhere that is causing the fire.
turn off burners, close grill cover, turn of valve on propane tank... disconnect tank if there's a danger of lines catching on fire... if the fire dies out, open cover and see what can be rescued on the grill...
I work at Home Depot. We had a BBQ for the employees due days safe or something. A supervisor walked in the break room and said she had a small grease fire going, got a cup of water, and walked out. I realized what she was doing, and yelled at her not to do it because it was dangerous. I ran out but wasn't fast enough. She said I was right after pretty good flare-up. She was okay, and I asked why she didn't listen. She said she thought I was joking.
Had this happen a couple times . turn everything off, close valve on propane tank. Get the hose and stand far back. Douse flames, slow at first with thumb over hose to get a gentle broad spray with water. It will put the flames out.

@@METRIKVX- Who said he left it unattended. That can happen while you are looking at it with gas and grease from steaks.
@@jasondeblou6226you still need to wire scrub it before cooking.
@@user-yd2ug9uf3fnah man, they likely cooked something fatty like burgers and never cleaned the catch pan so the rendered steak fat lit that bitch up
Ive never had more than a little flare up on steaks unless I left all the grease from my last burger cookout unchecked
First guy "when was the last time you deep cleaned the grill"? 2nd guy "deep clean"?
Yeah, you need to have that stuff handy and be ready ahead of time
Now thats a real fire man....
Now we re cooking...😂😂😂😂
You need to keep your grill clean.
Hey that bark on that steak gon be crispy tho! Lol
You know the first problem is you got a gas grill🤣
And the only thing I can say me growing up here in Texas when we barbecue our food, we use a smoker homemade smoker attached to a trailer. Stay safe with your guys and girls. Viva la raza go Texas Longhorns.
After watching this & dealing with the same thing, I've decided to remain in charcoal team.
Because that's more than enough fire for me to control, plus I don't need to worry about me cooking with a gas bomb waiting to happen if anything can happen to it.
That's exactly how I feel lol
Charcoal or wood is the best
The same thing can happen with it
I love how it looks like a massive wildfire is happening in the background with all the smoke and red sun
Good luck!
Its not burnt, its blackened.....😂😂😂😂
This could of been prevented by cleaning the grill, and cleaning off all the leftover grease with a degreaser.
How often
Once a year. Just use your grill...it will burn most that grease away long before you have a runaway
"Turn it down" "turn it off brother" 😂
"I turned it AAHHHH" 💀
best part of the video
Thats a type of guy tryng to act like he knows everything lol
That's what happens when you don't clean the grease in the grill.
Oh geez... turn off the gas at the canister and close the lid. Heat, fuel and oxygen. That eliminates 2 of those necessary conditions for combustion.
Burning shyt in every way! IM OUTTT!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Spray some water on the flare ups and close the lid. The steam will also help keep your food from drying out.
Too much fat runoff.
Baking soda !!
Turn off the burner.
Close the valve on the propane tank.
Shut the lid.
Keep a water hose handy to keep all surrounding objects from catching fire.
Don’t use water on a grease fire.
"Turn it off brother" hurt his soul 😂😂
“A clean grill is a clean mind”
For everyone saying only to shut off the burners- You can do that, but you should also close the valve on the tank in case there is a leak somewhere that is causing the fire.
Bro kept the lid open only to increase the fire by giving it oxygen. SHUT THE LID DUM DUM and turn it off. 😂
turn off burners, close grill cover, turn of valve on propane tank... disconnect tank if there's a danger of lines catching on fire... if the fire dies out, open cover and see what can be rescued on the grill...
Just one of the reasons why I don't fuck with gas grills, I'll stick to good old-fashioned charcoal or wood. 💯
