Oh my I remember my mom fixin salmon patties. I can close my eyes and see her standing at the stove . Good memories for me. I truly miss my mom though she's been gone since 1989. I reckon we all have memories we cherish. Thanks , Tammy y'all cook really home style love your show.
Looks delicious! Nice healthy fish. Mom made them when I was growing up alot and I still do. She added crushed crackers, lemon juice, parsley, egg etc. And we love mashed potatoes!
My favorite meal that mama made was salmon patties, cornbread patties, butter potatoes, and collard greens. Brings back a lot of memories! Mama doesn't cook much anymore but I can still see her making this in the kitchen while we were growing up. Thank you for rekindling the memories Mrs. Tammy! It sure looked good! Thank you for sharing!
My husband and I both love bread and don't really care for dessert so I would have made cornbread to go with this. I love your cooking videos. Reminds me when I was young my parents and my grandma used to go on Sundays after church visiting to my great grandparents farm. My mother, grandma, great grandma and I would sit around her table and eat cold biscuits with fresh tomato and onion from their garden. She always had fried chicken and some kind of pie. Your videos take me back to those wonderful memories when times were so much simpler.
Doesn't get any better than that ,what a meal. I take off all the bones and skin when I make my patty's pretty much the same recipe I use bread crumbs some times I grate in a carrot. Delicious. 😊❤🙏
WOW, what a different way to make salmon patties. I've been making them since I was a kid. My Mom showed all of kids how to make them. You put a little baking powder, cracker crumbs, egg, onion and a little green pepper if you like them. Season to taste. Coat in cracker crumbs and then pan fry. We always have sweet rice with ours. Everyone has their own and Momma's way of doing it. Yours looked really BOMB. Thanks for sharing Have a Blessed Day.
These made the best I've ever had (with lemon juice sprinkled on). I added a couple tsp Louisiana Gem sauce as someone mentioned below. My mom used to make Salmon Patties, but these were the jiggity-bomb!
My mother makes them with the exact same way except she uses bread crumbs in place of flour, mixes it all by hand and forms patties that way; delicious!!!
Thank you so much for this great recipe video. You are very clear & helpful with your instructions & I love your delightful Southern accent. My mother used to make lovely salmon patties but I never was able to make them to her great standard. We usually put breadcrumbs or mashed potatoes in the mixture but they are often stodgy when I do them. When I saw the mix you did just prior to frying it looked really good & more like the way my mother's did. I also like the way you didn't try to form or shape them into circles but spooned them into the hot oil. I am going to try this recipe for tomorrow's dinner (or supper, as you call it). I am subscribed to your channel & really enjoy seeing what you are cooking. The current lockdown has us all cooking more & I think your down to earth attitude is so nice. Best wishes from Sydney, Australia
That looks yummy 🤤 I like using can evaporated milk in my cream potatoes makes them richer tasting of course gotta have real butter...I swear you’re just amazing in the kitchen!! Your family is sooo lucky 💯
My mama made them just this same way back in the mountains of Virginia. I make them from fresh salmon ocasionally but not because it's my preference. And I only make around four patties that way . Just before the shutdown I asked my husband to get a can or two of salmon but he came back without because he said it was almost £10 a can...like $13. I am thinking about making some corned beef and potato patties as I got some cans of that for my shutdown pantry. And Spam! My British husband got a taste of that for the first time last week but it was a trip down memory lane for me! Thanks for putting this up. And I might just add a $13 can of salmon to my delivery this coming week just because I am craving it! ;)
Love salmon patties with macaroni n cheese, green beans, and always sweet potatos. Mama always let us kids have the bones.we thought it was neat that we could eat bones ! I like leftover patties heated with a shmear of mayonnaise...Yum.✅
My mama's recipe called for crushed saltines instead of flour, no need to add extra salt, just pepper, dash of milk and an egg or two depending on how many cans of salmon you use, mac n cheese, and baby peas with pearl onions, has to be my favorite meal of all time, at times she would make tuna patties the same way, both are delicious. Tuna being more economical, especially when she had so many mouths to feed, one patty is never enough, gotta have at least 2 or 3, lol
I Love ❤ Your Channel. The Traditional Southern Cooking You do is the same in Our Homes. And when I'm away from Alabama I can just click on your channel and feel Home. 😊❤ Thank You
I LOVE Salmon Patties!!! My mom used saltines in them instead of flour...I may have to try it your way! Your creamed potatoes is how we make mashed potatoes. We had creamed potatoes with ours but it was diced potatoes in a white sauce...sometimes with Velveeta in them :) The other night about 10 p.m. I watched your video on Onion Rings & Hamburger Steak. After words I decided to try making the onion rings. The kids DEVOURED them! I literally have had to make them onion rings every day since!! LOL Thank you for the recipe!!!!!
We love salmon patties at our house! We use a little bit of Ken's Steakhouse brand Vidalia sweet onion salad dressing on top of our finished patties as a 'sauce'. Think I'll make some tomorrow.
One of our favorite meals. We do baby English peas with ours, make a well in your potatoes. Yum yum. The only time I will eat English peas and they have to be lasaeur's, not sure of the spelling.
I make my salmon patties like my grandmother did. She added egg, flour and a little meal, but she added a little buttermilk in her's. They were oh so good.
mmmm! I think I'm going to plan on this for the coming week!! Got the Texas Hash with Beans going atm, When I was younger, we didnt have a lot of money, and instead of salmon patties we had Mackerel patties made with saltine crackers. That was always a favorite of mine. I wish I had helped more in the kitchen so I would have that recipe in my head files. I swear, when I watch your shows, its like going down memory lane at times of going to my grandparents house. Wish I could say that my mother was a good cook, hehe, she did make the best mac n cheese though!
Can you tell me exactly how you cook dried beans and peas in the instant pot please? This was the very first recipe I tried of yours...salmon patties...my all time fave. Then I made a chocolate pie and had the prettiest meringue. I was thrilled. Keep those videos coming! Love them! 😍
This reminds me of when my momma used to cook. She only used 1 peeling knife, 1fork and 1 spoon, 1 set of measuring spoons, 1set of cups, and 1 liquid measuring cup. She never used a spadula or scoop a day in her life.
Just cooked some up for lunch! My husband loved your recipe! I need more practice on getting the bones out, there was more bones that I remembered as I tried this one time probably 25 years ago!! Wow you made it look easy! LOL This old girl did not do it right! LOL

It really puts it over the top. Makes a huge difference. I'm gonna kick myself for this. Because it'll make me want some. But as far as ideas. I would put out a video for making homemade cream puffs with fresh whipped cream.. oh my. That is something most ppl don't make and it really isn't that hard. You might start something. They are soooo delicious. I haven't seen a video with you making that yet anyway. Now your settled in your house and in isolation. It's the perfect time to cuddle alot with hubby and make new memories. LOL that's some homework for you.
That you for this..I have missed my grandmothers salmon patties for years...now because of Covid..I've wanted to use the canned salmon we have (2.29 per can)..fried fish is the only kind he will eat ..lol..
I have been making my canned salmon patties like burgers, using 2 cans and thinking it should be enough for dinner plus leftovers for lunch but then the little piggies eat it all. (What a stupid thing for me to fret over!) But I liked to try this because it only uses one can. These are more like fritters than burgers. Tasty! They took plenty of oil! They were a little tricky for me because I use gluten-free flour but next time I’ll use 2 eggs. Since I didn’t want to go to the store I served them with Tammy’s hoe cake (gluten free again) and some collards because that’s what I had on hand. It was delicious and very filling. Thanks Tammy 💜😃 I believe my southerin husband is happy I found you
my family loves salmon patties and its not a hard recipe to make. I usually make pinto beans or white beans at least once a week .My daughter says she tired of beans well im not so im gonna keep fixing them.Shes 15 and shes been helping me some in the kitchen and I love it .shes been wanting differant stuff so we are gonna try chicken enchiladas.
I saw them for $4.99 in SC at a Walmart. I think the price has gone up since this pandemic started! I can get a lot more meals out of Sam's Rotisserie chicken.
Lookin’ good! Save some for me. I’ll be there in a couple of days. I’m in Brooklyn lol 😝 I made some of these patties long ago when I first got married. Like 41 years ago! But I had NO idea you were supposed to remove the bones and skin. I thought they tasted good, but I hated the bones which is why I’ve never made them since. Too bad they didn’t have TH-cam back then :( Thank you!
I like that tip to use a spoonful oh wow don't they look good, I'm making some tomorrow I have 6 can in the pantry. Oh they look so good I can taste them.
i will be making these because i been looking can salamon , but not salmon patties but i never seen this m but i will be serving rice and something green. thanks

I'm a southern girl, too. Will give your recipe a go. It looks delicious 😋. I'm hungry! Glad I found you! 👍

When I’ve had more mouths to feed, I’ve always added a can of tuna in and it stretches the mix. These look so good!
I do the same just for me it's a delicious combination
Good idea‼️...it’s good to vary things sometimes... thank you‼️‼️👍🏻
Good idea! Becz tunas cheap!!!!
Doesn't get any better than that ,what a meal. I take off all the bones and skin when I make my patty's pretty much the same recipe I use bread crumbs some times I grate in a carrot. Delicious. 😊❤🙏
My mother would save her potato water for when she made soup! It gave it a great taste. Great video!! Looks great!!!!
I made these for supper with the mashed potatoes! This recipe is the best yet and I try lots of recipes.

I really need to try cooking salmon croquettes!! Yummy 😋
These made the best I've ever had (with lemon juice sprinkled on). I added a couple tsp Louisiana Gem sauce as someone mentioned below. My mom used to make Salmon Patties, but these were the jiggity-bomb!
Glad you liked them!
That’s exactly how I make my potatoes. Salmon looks delicious.
Just made the salmon. Delicious! The trick I've been missing all these years is smashing them after flipping! Thank you! ❤️
I missed that
I'm going to start doing that, I can not yet cook them like my Mom 😇
My mother makes them with the exact same way except she uses bread crumbs in place of flour, mixes it all by hand and forms patties that way; delicious!!!

Try adding a little mayonnaise.
@@armeyf I can't eat creamed potatoes without putting in a spoonful of mayonnaise!...Yummy!
Condensed milk for mine. I use it for cream soups and gravy too.
Evaporated, not condensed.
Definitely evaporated milk for taters! My mama used regular milk but it’s evaporated all the way for me!!
My mama made them just this same way back in the mountains of Virginia. I make them from fresh salmon ocasionally but not because it's my preference. And I only make around four patties that way . I wonder how much it is now??? You better get it if they go on sale.
My aunt would cook salmon patties with biscuits & gravy. So good! That would be dinner & oh , so good.
I’ve been buying the salmon in the pouch. It’s so pretty..no need to pick through it at all... and 2 pouches are cheaper than the can
Where do you find your salmon in the pouch?
Betty June Walmart has it. It’s right next to the Starkist tuna in a pouch.
I might would buy your coffee mug. But when I go to Tee Spring it’s not even there. None of your things are there.
Really?what brand is it?

Yep! Le Sueur -Very Young Small English Peas. The ones with the the Red Label. They are a Southern Staple to me here in Southeast GA.
I made these tonight using sweet onion in place of green onion, and no cayenne. Absolutely delicious! Took a pic but no way to post it.
Great job!
Just like mom used to make 🥰
I love this meal! I grew up eating this.
I love salmon patties!! now i have a craving for them after watching the video- i guess that means a trip to the the grocery store lol ❤️🍽
I'm going to try this salmon patty recipe. Sounds good with the cornmeal. I bought lots of canned fish since this crazy pandemic started. Healthy too.
And all I have to add to this is....YUMMY.
Yummy. That would be enough mashed potatoes for me, I am a potato freak!!
Looks just like my mama used to do it. Taters abs all. Brings back good old days. I’m making this ASAP.
Looks YUMMY!
I make my salmon patties like my grandmother did. She added egg, flour and a little meal, but she added a little buttermilk in her's. They were oh so good.
Another great dinner idea TY!
I eat bones and all!😋❤️
🐟 I like the pressurized bones & skin too. Each to his/her own, of course.
Me too,my mom never picked them out
This opening is my favorite

Looks delicious! On a side note the video is crystal clear :) You can really tell the difference with the lighting in your new home!
Yay! Thank you!
Thank u CVC..good meal..
My mom used to just make a salmon loaf! Like meatloaf.. l think this recipe would be good for that if you didn't want to make patties. So good.
This reminds me of when my momma used to cook. She only used 1 peeling knife, 1fork and 1 spoon, 1 set of measuring spoons, 1set of cups, and 1 liquid measuring cup. She never used a spadula or scoop a day in her life.
Looks so good
Give me some tarter sauce and I'd be all over those Salmon Patties 😋😋 That whole meal looks DELICIOUS!!😋😋
Looks delicious!!!
Gonna have to give these a try.
Hello Tammy, there is nothing like good old fashion home cooking. Looks absolutely delicious. Will make it tonight for supper. Thanks😁

Hi Tammy! Salmon patties is one of our fav recipes from your cookbooks! We've enjoyed them many times! Thanks for another video, y'all!
Love the groovy bluegrass music
Looks great Tammy! 🤠 I made Taco Soup & Cornbread tonight! 🤠 Stay Well yall! 🌞🌻💐🎯
Sounds great!
Red Salmon is much tastier than the type you used.. really makes a big difference in taste. I would have chosen Green Peas instead of the dry beans.
Now here is a tip I've learned. The way to have less flatulence when having beans is to drain the water several times during the cooking process. Like soaking the beans overnight in water. Next morning drain all that water and refill. Then boil for half hour and drain again. Refill and finish cooking. This does work. First time I made fresh homemade refried beans I was shocked. They were soooo much better than canned. But the longer they sit the more they will begin to taste like the canned ones. And as far as Mexican food goes. The restaurant I love here, they only use a finely chopped beef for their tacos etc ..... they never use hamburger.. and they serve a little on top of their Mexican rice on each plate.
I'm drooling up here in southwest Virginia! I know what we're having one night this week. Thanks, Tammy! 💕
BLESS YOUR HEART
😀😀👍👍👍👍
GODBLESS EVERYONE.
My grandma made salmon patties a lot. Always had fried potatoes and mac n cheese with it. Delicious but you could smell the salmon for about two days
This gave me a hankerin’ for some

I have been making my canned salmon patties like burgers, using 2 cans and thinking it should be enough for dinner plus leftovers for lunch but then the little piggies eat it all. Omg, did you say $5 a can, I only pay 2and some change for the exact brand here in VA. I love salmon cakes.
They go on sale here in Memphis for $1.25 a can at this store called cash & save that's when I stock up on them...$5 and $13 a can no way!! 😃
I saw them for $4.99 in SC at a Walmart. I think the price has gone up since this pandemic started! I can get a lot more meals out of Sam's Rotisserie chicken.
That's the way I have always made mine too Mrs.Tammy! Good stuff 😆🤣. Stay safe and God bless y'all 🙏
OMG! This looks so good. :)
A nice thick slice of tomato would look great on your plate.❤️ This will be our supper tonight. Thanks Tammy.💁
