My son as a little boy loved everything pink. Pink dummies, pink teddies, pink toys. (I did actually draw the line at a pair of very sparkly, pretty pink ballerina shoes. Lol) Now he is over six feet tall, very manly, has a very physically demanding job and also has had a beautiful girlfriend for a few years. My point is... I never once thought for one minute my son was gay. He was a little boy who liked the colour pink...

My sons love pink.. And black and green and red etc.. They have had long hair and once a son said "i want to be a girl" i calmly asked why.. He said they get to wear colourful clothing! So from then on i got him colourful boys clothing. He's a lizard catching, dusty rumble tumble boy through and through.

      tip of the iceberg
this is a good comment!! boys and girls can like whatever kinds of toys and clothes and colors they want and this doesn't define their identity. if your kid likes "girl toys" don't discourage or encourage it, rather just let him make his own choices (as you did!!) it would be a different situation if the child described having dysphoria to you (aka saying they want to be a girl/want a girl body.) identity is very different from interests. plenty girls like pink and plenty don't. the same goes for trans kids. don't push a child to question their identity just because they like a certain kind of toys, allow a child to live freely and wait until they tell you what they are experiencing. it may just be a case like you, where your son was happy being a man and enjoyed these stereotypically "feminine" toys. all love to you and your son!!!

my son is two and a half , he likes cars and building games as well as a dolls and sometimes dresses, I guess he finds them pretty, because dresses are indeed pretty and colorful. Since he's two and a half years old he has no idea of what "boy" and "girl" "means" , sometimes he says that I'm a girl and I correct him "I"m your dad, I'm a man, your mum is a woman" . sometimes he says "I girl" I correct him , sometimes he says "I boy " and I tell him he's right , I'm okay with him playing with whatever he wants. Katharine Hepburn today would have been told that she should transgender into a man because she didn't really like wearing dresses she loved wearing slacks and sweaters and loved being out in her garden and the reason she got along with Spencer Tracey but she'd go with him do things with him unlike most women who didn't like to be out fishing etc. Lauren Bacall with Bogert same thing if you like the man you're with you'll go fishing with him.
I was a Tom girl as my dad's fishing partner love to be outside, riding my horses working in the garden, I could come in and my Mama go oh my God would did you do because I'll be covered in mud. I was a girl I loved to dress up, but I wore jeans all they do time. I don't think I wore dresses to school more than maybe 10, 15 times. This world is crazy, this honestly has been a money grab for the doctors and psychiatrists and psychologists are messrd up themselves. They're required to have therapy, and usually they've gone into the field, because they had something wrong. They had to get therapy, and then they decided to give therapy to others.

Thank you for sharing. If my parents & my pediatrician had sat me down when I was around 7 - 9 years old and told me that I had the option of becoming a boy instead of a girl, that would have been the happiest day of my life so far. I loved sports and playing with bugs and building little toy inventions. I got along with boys easier than girls. Being a boy would have made so many aspects of my young life easier.
Then when I turned 13, I grew out of it. I started liking girl things (while still enjoying playing with bugs and boy toys) and I embraced being a girl. I'm now a straight 34 year-old woman who loves dressing up and riding my motorcycle and cooking and carpentry. If I'd been put on a path to transitioning to male as a child, it would have ruined my life.

There must be millions of women who were tomboys as girls and had they been given a chance to become a boy would have leapt at the idea. God knows I certainly would have!! But then puberty kicks in, you grow up, feel less inclined to want to be a boy, and realise that you actually want to be in a proper, complementary, man + woman relationship. I was a trans kid growing up in a strict Christian house it wasn't easy and transitioning was not an option. I looked like the opposite gender, I behaved like one and was often confused by strangers as being the gender I desired. I loved that. I wanted to transition I was not happy with my changing body as a teen. I was embarrassed, ashamed. I was suicidal and had depression with basically no functionality. Then when I was about 25-26 years old everything changed. I somehow embraced my birth gender and lived a happy life ever since. I am very happy that I didn't get to transmission because that's permanent and I have still a long life ahead of me. It was a hard childhood and I wish I had proper therapy and support, but I am very glad that transition was not an option as a teen. I would have definitely pursued it. And I think now it would have been a great regret now. I think young people need more education and we shouldn't say that transitioning is the only right thing to do. Kids need a lot of support to find themselves.

Interesting. What thoughts did you have initially about wanting to be the opposite gender ? How old were you, when you started having these thoughts ?
I often wonder if, say a young girl who likes things considered socially as "masculine" (say, she's more interested in boxing, or hunting), would even ask herself the question "am I the wrong gender", if we didn't put labels on boxing, or hunting as being masculine. If advertisers didn't have cars marketed to women, or cars marketed to men.
If both girls and boys could just do whatever they wanted, without ever having to question, "am I being too manly/ girly ?"
Because, modern society advances the notion, constantly, that altering one's gender is a solution to a huge range of mental health issues.
Issue that affect both girls and boys, issues that are common in adolescence.
Frontal lobotomies were once seen as a cure-all, for lots of mental illnesses. Irreversible damage was done.
Irreversible damage is being done to people now, and in ten years, we will see, huge health impacts from people taking up to 16 medications daily, from surgeries, and so on.
I cannot fathom how this is acceptable. Shouldn't we have, at the very least, at least a year of "devils advocacy", before a person can undergo surgery - so the person and their parents, must be exposed to scientific, and rational, arguments as to why gender alteration can be harmful.

I'm a straight man that played with Barbies and other dolls as a child in the early 90's, mainly with my sisters. Hearing about all these instances of what in my estimation amount to child abuse makes me extremely thankful that I was raised when I was and by parents that didn't push this agenda. Children are easily manipulated, so I too may have been coerced to believe that I was in the "wrong" body under different circumstances. As it is, I never questioned my gender and grew up comfortably in the body I was born in. This, I believe, is a much healthier outcome, and what we should strive for as a society instead of filling children's heads full of the idea that their body is "wrong".

Some were done on circumcision accidents. Some were twins where they transitioned one and not the other. The conclusions were what I mostly recall. It did not improve the lives of these patients. Depression remained. Notably about 2 years of euphoria. Followed by return of their original depression. Most had underlying psychiatric disorders before any treatments were started and they felt treatment of that should have been done instead of surgical or chemical treatments. The patients were not able to have normal sexual relations or sensations. Even children that weren't told that this had been done 'felt' something was wrong. Like I said it's been several years since I read it. I'm sure it's buried somewhere because it doesn't support the current agenda. I think it is a good idea for most people to become more educated and aware regarding the topic, however I would defer to medical professionals any treatments required or chosen by the patients themselves. People who are genuinely transgendered are not all that many in the overall population. Those so affected live a tortured life until they can achieve a reasonable balance that will allow them mental peace within themselves. Properly trained and experienced therapists are well equipped to allow patients the extremely important sounding board to vent their emotions, frustrations and to help them achieve the balance I described above. Additionally, it is important to take note that actually and genuine patients first realize they are different within the first five years of life when they perceive their physical bodies do not make sense to them. That is instinct talking from a surprisingly early age. It is best to wait as long as possible to make certain the dilemma is long lasting and profound. Any clinician will tell you that such patients are simply not treated sufficiently by conventional talk therapy. In those cases, only transition works. While even them it is difficult, at least if they take their time and go through the proper steps. chances are they can be helped immediately. In terms of calling a dedicated surgeon a butcher. That comment is beneath contempt. No competent surgeon of any stature would operate on a TG person without completing a myriad of psychological safeguards, and this involves a real-life test that can take up to a year.

Transgenderism happens in utero. The brain and body develop separately, and the brain is triggered to take on a male or female structure by the presence or absence of a surge of testosterone. TG is the result of a misfire, resulting in a male-structured brain in a female body, or vice versa. This can be verified on MRI. So it makes perfect sense that TG patients would start showing symptoms around the time they begin to understand concepts of self and gender.
I'd say body/genitals define your sex, and your brain defines your gender.

You listen to children, treat them with respect and let them find their own path through life, as long as they aren't harming anyone. If they turn out to be hetero, gay or trans thats wonderful. You can't ask them to decide the sex they want to be immediately and when they are so immature. There is regular blood work done to make sure your hormones are in the goal range and everything else about your blood is OK. The problem is when people who aren’t actually trans are pushed into transitioning or decide on a whim to get hormone treatment without first being evaluated by a professional.

I transitioned to male in my 20's, after having been struggling with accepting my body since childhood. I found out about trans at age 15, and started taking testosterone at 21 and had mastectomy at 25. Then I detransitioned at 29, last year. I still like the changes I got from the hormones, although I quit taking them, and I miss my breasts. So I won't reverse everything, but I'm fine with being a woman now even though I don't look much like one anymore.
I thought I was trans because I had dysphoria. But in reality it was an escape mechanism from my past traumas and misogyny. I'm still traumatised but going through my rough past and processing it has made most of my dysphoria go away, and embrace my womanhood. I no longer want to be a man. My parents never tried to make me be trans, they don't even believe it's a thing.
They've always been fine with LGB though. Although I didn't figure out I'm a lesbian until my detransition, and a lot of my trauma comes from that I forced myself to be with men, and was sexually assaulted by some of them, which hurt me a lot. I still have a lot of internalised homophobia to deal with. But I was never a stereotypical lesbian, as a kid and growing up, I've always leaned more feminine and was a weird goth kid. My straight mom is far more masc than I've ever been, and we've always been close. It was my body that I hated, not feminine things. In fact, being masculine always made me feel even worse.
Now I love my body, despite, and because of, everything it's been through. It's a harsh situation to be in, but I'm sure I'll make it. I think there will be more detransitioners in the future. Transition is way too often held up as the only solution to what's considered gender dysphoria nowadays, instead of as a last resort. Feeding people the idea that if they don't transition they will kill themselves and there's no other option, is very dangerous. Cause I thought it was my only hope to survive, but now I'll never have a normal life because of it. Knowing I could have saved my life in other, much less devastating ways, kinda sucks.
And now my gender therapist, that I had to go back to to get my legal and medical stuff changed back, doesn't want to write me off as not trans cause she doesn't wanna accept that I no longer prescribe to gender ideology. Saying "I'm a woman cause I've a uterus" apparently doesn't go over well in that kind of office... She wants to write me off as "non-binary" even though I don't even believe in that stuff! Just because I don't fit her idea of what a "cis" woman can be. I dunno but I think that's wrong.

It’s because your gender therapist doesn’t want to admit that they have cases where they gave the wrong advice and so “non binary” is a middle ground she is pushing on to you in order to not be completely wrong in her methods. Anyways I’m glad to hear you’re recovering and love your body.

    • @ryptoll4801
      @ryptoll4801 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

@@dishonest-corset4942 It could be that, but I think the issue is that she has a completely different mindset/ideology around gender than I do, and she's ignorant about what I mean, either willfully or not. But also I don't think they have any label for someone who basically takes a "nonbinary" path in terms of gender expression, but doesn't connect that to how they see themselves as male or female. They focus so much on the body in regards to gender identity, where as I think I'm a woman regardless of how I want to look physically, because I'm bio female. I focus on just being me and loving my body. Then however the fuck other people see me (or "misgender" me) is not so much of my concern anymore. My body is not for other people's approval, which my therapist didn't seem to understand.
However she did tell me, after the session, that she literally cannot diagnose my "gender" cause it really is only about making sure it gets right this time for me, and that above all else it's about what I want. But they're also utterly terrified of screwing me up a second time. And they're terrified of me suing them for having fucked up my body. So they're more than just a little on their toes about how they treat me. So I (want to) think it's just a misunderstanding cause of having different perspectives.
I bet they don't get many detransitioning radfem's explaining their view on gender in such great, and very personal, detail. Although I never told them I'm radfem, just explained my view on how I see my gender situation which just so happens to align with that. And as you may or may not know, the radfem view on gender pretty much clashes with the transgender view. So that was a damn challenge to try to convey in a non-political way with that therapist!
But it did go through my head that they might be trying to make me still consider myself some, any, kind of trans by coercing me (unsuccessfully though!) to take on the "nonbinary" label, so that it won't be a serious "regret case" cause that's bad reputation for them. I was persistent and refused to let them label me anything against my will though, but after the appointment I had to leave it up to them to figure it out. But if they fuck it up, I'll claw their eyes out... metaphorically.

I’m aware of the radfem view.
My issues with it is some trans activists pushing myths about sex and sexuality. E.G promoting the myth of a male and female brain to support their view that gender identity is innate.
Many gays and lesbians experience gender confusion and grow out of it. But in todays climate they would be at risk of being diagnosed and transitioned into “heterosexuals.”
I agree with you that this should be a last resort and not the first option. Emotionally blackmailing parents that their children will definitely kill themselves if they don’t let them transition it’s dangerous and illogical appeals to emotion.
I also hate it when people compare it to sexual orientation... you don’t have to remove healthy parts of your body in order to be gay, lesbian or bisexual so it’s a flawed comparison.
People have legitimate reasons to be concerned about the methods of gender clinics since they are mistakenly leading people to consent to irreversible procedures.

Parents need to stop jumping to conclusions if their boy wants to play with dolls or their girl wants to play with trucks. My mother grew up with 4 brothers and was a self proclaimed tomboy. Never did my grandparents encourage her to be the other sex. She grew up, got married and raised 7 children of her own. 6 boys and 1 girl. My sister had the same experience as my mother. Now married with 2 boys. The point is any child growing up may enjoy aspects of the opposite sex because that is what the see and are accustom to but that does not mean when the grow up they will yearn to be that sex. No child under the age of 18 should ever be put own drugs to facilitate a change in their sex. A human brain isn’t even fully developed until about 25. What the heck does a kid know about themselves at 2-18? It’s madness to make a determination about their life that young. Wouldn’t you, as a parent, prefer your child to grow up as the sex they were born? Give them a chance and let things play out before such drastic decisions are made. Don’t let some self described expert tell you otherwise. After all it’s not called the “practice of medicine” for no reason. They DON’T have all the answers. It would make far more sense to error on the side of caution so you don’t screw up an otherwise normal child.

Took a long time to learn to read, was bouncing off the walls so to speak. Solid C and D student. We finally agreed to try medication and the change in his schooling was remarkable. He went from never reading to reading a book a week. Became an A B student, graduated from college (he stopped using meds in college) and is now a scientist at a major pharmaceutical company. I don't think so, however, I do think that if someone is exploring their world and identify later on in life as something they are not then that's when they should meet with doctors and therapists to determine their next step, but that should be done after the individual has the medical power themself to go through transitioning. I do not think that parents should be allowing their 12 year olds to transition. Transitioning is irreversible. Things don't go back to normal after taking the medicines. It is a decision that should not be made quickly or on a whim.

My now 10 year daughter used to tell me repeatedly that she was a boy when she about 3/4. We never took her seriously as being rational parents we understood that the arrival of her brother after 4 girls was highly celebrated as he was the first boy in over 30 years to be born in our family. What I am getting at is we understood that because of the huge fanfare due to a boy arriving she thought that being a boy was something special and she wanted some of that attention. We just made sure to tell her how special she was for being a girl and the brilliance of woman. She hasn't mentioned it for years and is very comfortable with being a girl. You have to allow children time to develop and really look at what is going on at the time in the family before jumping to conclusions that the child is in the wrong body - something I do not believe is possible.

If a man with mental capacity presents at hospital with body dysmorphia, claiming his healthy arm doesn’t belong to him and demands the doctors remove it (yes this has happened) , that person will be given therapy, BUT the offending limb will NEVER be removed; if a pre-pubescent boy with little life experience says “I think I’m a girl, this penis doesn’t belong to me” the doctors will give them therapy and could ultimately remove the offending limb!
Personally I’m past careing either way, I just like consistency .

I'm still a tomboy! But I love my heels, glam, makeup, camping, and sports at the same time. We can do both! Just the same there are men who have feminine traits who are totally straight. My boyfriend is one of those types and we balance each other so perfectly. Funny thing is we both thought the other were gay then one day we were out and he asked me if I ever considered dating men. I said, "Dude I'm straight what are you talking about and I don't like blind dates because it's weird. ". He said, " I'm not talking about a blind date. ". I said, " So.... What are you talking about?". Then he said, " I've always wanted to ask you out on a date but I didn't want to offend you. ". Then I was like," WTF YOU'RE STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!...... ". We had the biggest crushes on each other for some time and assuming things was such a waste of time.
We then had a shot and laughed everytime we made eye contact.
And there you have it. Best man in the world! Funny thing is through us being together we both found that we are outwardly confusing to people but in a home setting it's the total reverse. Weird but that is our dynamic.

What you're talking about is not gender dysphoria or a dislike of your body or genitalia. You're talking about androgyny. What's going on now is androgynous teens are cross dressing and wearing makeup and this is more accepted. And there is a push to give young children puberty blockers to prevent sexual development in their biological sex if they consider themselves trans. But there is a trend to do this younger and younger which is crazy. No one should get life altering surgeries until they are legal adults and after they have years of therapy AS ADULTS. And cross dress out in the real world. Not in college. Those are tests that test the person's resolve. Stats show that 60% of youths claiming trans status change their minds. It's fasionable to be trans right now. Just as it was to be bisexual at one point. One thing about hormonal therapy, most of it can be reversed. But sexual reassignment surgery can't truly be. That shouldn't be rushed into by overzealous parents or therapists or very young teens or adults.

@@shirleykitchens5878 There's a trend to rush children into hormone therapy to prevent puberty in order to ready them for sexual transition because they claim to be transgender as little children. Some 2 percent of children may actually be transgender. Parents should support them until they are past 18, get them into supportive therapy, have them try cross dressing, then move them into hormone therapy. By the time they're 22 or so, they will have lived as the opposite sex for a few years and may decide if they want or don't want sexual reassignment surgery. This surgery is very painful and complicated and expensive and requires a long time for recovery esp female to male. Its not something to rush into.

    My story.
I was raised by my Mother, my Step Father was abusive.
My Dad, whom I adore so very much, I saw him on the weekends, he was my refuge from the trauma happening at home.
He moved away when I was 11, to live across the country.
I internalized hatred from myself because he left me at a moment in time when I needed his support.
My Dad had no idea about the abuse taking place in my house when he left, I kept that part of my life away from him.
I was afraid he would take me away from her, and I wanted to protect her from the beatings.
I was always naturally a tomboy, an only child, with an older male cousin who I looked up to, that was the only thing I knew of other children, a boy, and he was a rough houser, so I was a little scrapper.
Long story short, I over heard my Mother on the phone saying that my Dad always wanted a boy, in fact he was hoping I was a boy, to carry the family name.
After that, I hated being a girl, I went through every possible emotion.
But then my heart fell back in place, and I began to marvel at my feminine energy and my desire to be the best damn girl I could be.
I wasn't a boy, I was better a girl able to do everything a boy can do.
And growing up, my Dad was so cool, he told me I could do anything I want, and to never ask permission for anything you deserve.
I had a Daughter of my own, after finding the biggest sweetest man I ever met, been together for 17 years, I have a career, I have ample gay friends that I adore, I gave birth to the most awesome human being.
Imagine today, what society would do to me.
Abuse me in the ultimate way, by stealing my journey to selfhood.
Never tell a child that being masculine or feminine is necessary a sign of gender alone.
Being in touch with a masculine or feminine side I think it's normal to explore both sides of ones mind.
Joan of Aches are not a ladies lady, shes a man's lady, tipping the balance of her feminine spirit with a bit more masculine energy, that's bad ass!
    😘
Just be yourself until you figure out who you really are, let the nature transformation take place, most of the time it will change your mind.

He had been the centre of his parents undivided attention until the birth of his a baby sister. Who was born severely disabled and required 24/7 care by the parents which was understandable . The young child therefore associated attention with being a girl to young to look further into the change of his life. Subconsciously or consciously. No one had sat down with this child to talk listen and explain the complete change in this child’s life had nothing to do with gender but medical needs. The child transitioned with all the associated medical intervention. Maybe only one story but how many others cases are out there? Caused by death, divorce, abuse, expectation, separation and beliefs of the parent/s and adults centre of their life but not realising it.

I transitioned to be a male in my early 40’s. I had all the classic childhood symptoms that would say that I am transgender. I am now 50 and Christ came for me a couple of years ago and I since stopped taking hormones. I had major depression and high anxiety which only worsened after transitioning. I was maxed out on Zoloft and that stopped having any effect. God had me stop taking medication and healed me of depression and anxiety. I am living for the first time in my life and have a peace and joy I’ve never known. All glory to God for what He has done in my life.

It’s a breath of fresh air to hear people who really and truly understand this issue lay it all out like this! I just want to pray for everyone affected by this! As Christians we are called to live according to the SPIRIT and not according to the FLESH! I have hope for anyone with troublesome flesh! God is so good!

This is madness! When I was a child I was 100% tomboy...I even looked more like a little boy than a girl! But in my day of growing up this insanity was unheard of! I eventually started liking boys and liking girl stuff and somewhat grew out of my tomboy ways...grew up with the freedom to be who I am. Today I have a husband and three lovely children. Had I been told I could choose my sex I would now be a suicidal freak of nature which is what alot of these kids have to look forward to! I can't believe the amount of sickness going on in society today! God help this planet!!!!!

Tam Vondayne what if one of your kids our trans and hiding it because of your point of view? what if one of them no longer trust you because of this what if they have plans that once thier 18 to run away and never look back because of your hate? you may say they would never be that way but even if they are over 18 have repressed it leading them to become deadly to them selfs because of your vocal hatred?

My heart breaks for these kids! Instead of responsible adults telling them its OK to feel uncomfortable in their bodies...that its OK to learn about their sexuality and gender and give them TIME and support...they are giving them options they shouldn't have...making doctors and pharma rich!!

Same Julianjuluan8806 I wasn't either but I feel like half these stories of detransitioners actually hurts us too because people have tried to tell me I will too. Like y'all don't know how many years of therapy from 11-16 I had to go through to actually transition and I've never been happier as a woman. A transwoman. But still I just wish people didn't weaponize it against us. I do agree tho anybody under the age of 18 shouldn't make life impacting decisions like that tho unless they know for sure through years of therapy
