I find it interesting that a child is considered to have unilaterally made up his/her mind to transition but if that same person decides to de-transition- it is a result of societal influence.

Yes, you can make up your mind or change your anytime you want, but you cannot change the procedures, if you already went under knives or hormones as easy as changing your mind, you see. The problem is that we have a section of our society that is profiting from people and children who happened to have those conditions and they are taking advantage of that. It's justified in the mind of that person because to them being transgender is something you're born with, so if you think you might be trans then you are and were born that way, but if you think you aren't after you thought you were then you're betraying that way you were naturally born. Obviously, that's a very poor line of thinking but that's what they have going on.

It's a matter of not physically and psychologically and spiritually messing up/abusing children and interfering with the healthy development of their bodies, which will leave them mutilated/not fully developed and therefore severely psychologically (and physically) scarred for life. This is terrifying. I'm a gay male in my 30s and my family recognized that I was probably gay as early as age 5, because I was effeminate. If I had been born in 2014 there's a very real chance that I would be undergoing chemical castration starting in 2022, as arranged by my well-meaning, well-educated liberal parents.

But they haven't actually identified any pathogens yet. (Nor are researchers eager to look for them.) It kills me. I have worked with kids for 25 years and I'm not sure why we treat a psychological issue with hormones and surgery. We are ruining kids lives before they have become ego formed. If a child wanted their legs cut off we would get they psychological help, and we would not cut their legs off. I find this disturbing and the adults involved should be held criminally liable for what they are doing.

One thing I have learned from being a parent is that you don't have children, they have you. Mine all grown up now and missed all this confusion.
Our job is to turn that vulnerable blob of humanity in to an individual that can function properly in society. To even start, they need a solid sense of identity. It's best to stick with what biology dictates and work from there. The idea that you might not be what we all think you are is just not going to cut it.

I wore my moms dresses around the house for almost an entire year when i was around 7 because they "looked and felt good" and her high heels because they were "fun to wear" i grew out of it and am just a regular guy with a healthy sex life but back then i could have easily said i feel like a girl or want to be one and I wonder how many children like i was are being completely destroyed by crazy doctors and parents these days. Its truly disturbing to imagine what my life would be now if my parents would have done something like put me on blockers because of it

I've always been perfectly at ease with my sister being a lesbian, ever since she came out about 33 years ago at the age of 18. My whole family have never, ever had a problem with her being gay, any of the relationships she had, and have always welcomed with open arms any of her male and female homosexual friends who came to visit.
The last conversation I had with my sister, and this is possibly the last ever, was in January this year when we were at a BBQ together and the discussion turned to Trans athletes, specifically Trans Men (XY) athletes competing in Woman (XX) categories and how consistently and overwhelmingly this meant that the Men would beat the woman, and how this meant that the woman were loosing out on scholarships, prize money, opportunities due to what was no more than cheating in sport.
My sisters response to this was that it was the reason why children who even mention being gay should be given hormone blockers, irrespective of age, to prevent their bodies developing until they have made up their minds......
That was the last conversation I have ever had with my sister, I cant talk to her, I cant get over that disturbing statement.

Is this driven by adult females/mothers? Do they want MALE children to be female, thus "brainwash" their children into this form of body dysmorphia? I have recently seen in the media a mother who "supported" her young boys wish to dress as a girl and even had the boy participate in the local gay pride march. He was actually the head of the march itself wearing his dress and all. The Mother was "very proud".

When I was in school, I had to get a parent’s permission to take Ibuprofen, which was fine in the eyes of the law. But, somehow, a school nurse not telling a child’s parent about their child potentially having gender dysphoria gets a pass from the legal community. Unbelievable.

Wait until he’s a teen and he surprises you with the unexpected ( which is what happened in my case with my daughter who has now developed severe anxiety and depression . I feel it’s because she couldn’t tell anyone she felt male instead of female . you’ll realize your comparison of pretending to be a super hero to someone’s gender identity is like comparing apples and oranges.
I’m not saying your son will be among those that do question their identity. Chances are he won’t be but if you walk a mile in my daughters shoes you’d understand better . My views have changed drastically. I was wrong . Now I’m my daughters ( or sons …. I’m waiting and letting him figure it out before anything major BUT I’m doing it with love , acceptance and understanding…. More understanding than I’ve ever had about the LGBTQ community before my on child’s mental health took a huge hit because of the worlds lack of knowledge and understanding about these things. Keep in mind people have committed suicide over such a lack of understanding in this area .
I’m not saying the medical intervention is the answer . I suggested to my child to wait until she’s an adult and until the age when the brain is fully developed ( 23-25 ) but also told her that no matter how it turns out I’ll love her/ him regardless and if she decides she’s definitely Trans and has talked to counselors to help her navigate these years , that I’m fully accepting of it. For now we’re saying he instead of she and let her go by a different name ( but haven’t legally changed it) because I heard that how they figure it out is to “try on “ living as the opposite gender to see if it feels right to them. I’ve heard of stories where they needed to do that just to figure it out . I truly feel that once you’re done developing you know without a doubt what you are . Sexuality is not just something you can do and not recognize when something doesn’t feel right . They’ll figure it out . I’m watching this video to inform myself because I know when my child turns 18 she plans to transition so I won’t her to be informed before she does. Do what you will while they’re kids but once they are adults they’ll do what they think they need regardless and they’ll either be traumatized by their families lack of understanding or one of the ones that actually did just need some time . I think we have to be careful with thinking in absolutes or having any lack of acceptance of who they feel they are and just guide the kid to being able to see how THEY feel without these outside possible influences and if they feel they just know they are the opposite gender and have felt this way since an early age then chances are that is their true identity.

You are using Anecdotes that do not correlate to the subject at hand. I myself thought I was MTF, for about 8 months. You know why? Cause I hated my father, and he caused a lot of trauma, so I automatically don’t want to be like him and thanks to the trauma want to be away from the person who experienced it. In my confusion I wanted to become a female. Also at the same time, teens are super fucking confused, I’m a teen myself and I will change significantly until I’m 18. So no I don’t think kids should be able to transition. I really don’t. Nor adolescents. It fucks with their bodies and minds. A 30 YEAR study was conducted in Sweden on sex reassignment surgery’s and it found a massive proportion, MTF and FTM, ended up going down hill mentally and physically after about ten years. With most attempting or succeeding in suicide. So yes we need more research on this. Also Sweden is way more accepting of trans people than the USA so take that into account

@@kateofone yet Sweden is the least discriminatory over most others? What I’m saying is that there is much deeper underlying issues. For most trans teens, they aren’t trans, they have been abused, traumatized and have a lot of underlying issues. When I was in school last year I met a lot of girls especially who said this “yeah I thought I was trans, for about a year to three years, and then I just kinda grew out of it. It seemed really popular” people who saying being trans is a social death sentence does not go to modern schools. Being trans now in schools mean you are very quickly more popular and treated much better. Again, people can much more easily leave a religion in most cases not all. I’m an atheist FYI, and also your anecdotes literally are meaningless here. They hold no real value to the topic at hand. Yes trans teens do exist and do deserve happiness but *a lot* of them end up growing out of dysphoria. And putting them on cross-sex hormones will end up screwing with brain development. I’m not saying trans people aren’t valid. But teens should not be transitioning. Period. We are way too fucking confused to decide this for ourselves, we all are going through puberty where we have tons of hormones going through us already and going and adding more in will seriously fuck us mentally.
I did research work with a medical sociologist looking at the views of young women who'd been tested for carrier status for haemophilia as teenagers. All of them had of course given informed consent to the testing. But over and over, when they were interviewed a few years later, the young women would say, 'at the time I hadn't really realised what this could mean, that I could have a baby with haemophilia'. We concluded that as teenagers, the reality of what it was to have a baby, and the ability to look to the future in a realistic way, wasn't adequately developed. How much more serious for the case of surgical and hormonal interventions.
what a tragedy that these people sometime in their adult years will look back and wonder who supported their decision when they were too young to realize the lifelong repercussions. They are being used as guinea pigs by the people who are allowing this to happen. It's a big societal science experiment.
I am a professor of medicine and biochemistry. I run NIH drug trials from time to time. The only field where such risk is taken is confronting terminal illnesses with no effective current treatments. The people experimenting with these chemicals ought have their licenses revoked, and would in any other field. Reminds me of when in the early days of HIV homosexual men insisted they be allowed to donate blood despite the known risk resulting in the death of thousands of hemophiliacs. There's a madness that surrounds sexuality, like Amok Time of the original Star Trek. Culture has for thousands of years placed barriers and warnings around sexuality for good reasons. We ignore these cultural warnings at our peril.

I suffered and struggled with gender identity disorder throughout my whole childhood into my late 20's. As a result I was a tomboy, I had short hair and I loved to do primarily masculine activities, however I was still attracted to boys. In my late teens early 20's I looked into transitioning but I was discouraged when I saw photos of the results of transitioning and how Frankenstein-esq they looked. I knew that no matter what lens I looked at it through (i.e. theological, biological) that ultimately, regardless of how many surgeries I had or how many years of hormone treatments that I had, I could never truly become a man, I could never grow a penis or have a man's flat chest or have the ability to reproduce. I thank God that the transgenderism popularity phase was not around in the late 80's and 90's when I was growing up and that my parents helped me figure out what it really means to be a woman. Looking back on it, as a child we have these preconceived notions built from a very small amount of data and experiences that shape an image in our mind of what a man and a woman is, so as a kid I thought that a woman was an introvert, subservient and weak, 3 traits that I did not possess and I abhorred, whereas a man was an extrovert, a leader and strong. These ideas of what I thought a man or a woman to be shaped my personality and made me determine to prove that women were just as capable as men. It wasn't until my late 20's that I finally realized that a woman can be whoever she wants, a woman is not a list of characteristics, it is a gender of ulimited traits, characteristics, attributes and capabilities. This is ultimately my point, a child has no idea what it means to be a man or a woman, most men and women don't know what it means until they are way into adulthood, so it is quite inconceivable that a 4yr old kid can choose to change to their gender when they know next to nothing about either gender.
Damn, sorry you had to go through that. I've always felt comfortable being male. My mom actually used to make me watch movies like Braveheart and the Patriot, pretty much action movies to show me how men acted since I was raised only by her lol. I loved those movies anyways =P
This man speaks 100% sense I am a trans person and I agree with him, people can say what they want how can a trans person agree with him, it is easy I have a psychological disorder but I am not delusion to the point that I cannot tell what is good and bad, I do not want surgery or cross sex hormones as I do not want to regret and be a destranstioner and can never get back what was taken and I agreed to that because some medical practitioner told me it was the best solution. Eliviate your symptoms by dressing they way you want to be, be like the gender you think you are male or female, go to therapy, peer group sessions etc. There has to be a better way to treat your affliction than going to the extremes of CSH and surgery. Doing all that to kids that have not even developed is so dangerous and can have u told consequences to them if it is allowed to go through. Once you are a legal adult make that decision to alter your body etc. But not to small kids that do not comprehend what is going on and let them express themselves without influence, then time will tell if the child is effeminate or masculine as they might not be trans and could be an effeminate gay child or a masculine lesbian child, or neither just gender non-conformitive, these days people are so quick to label their children as trans without exhausting other options rather than pumping the kids with hormones and blocking their natural puberty. My opinion and views and it is not been said I am speaking for everyone in general, just me that is all.

He is so so right, when i was 13, i didn’t want my breasts because they were large and uncomfortable, to my 13 year old body, but now i’m older and although i am still unhappy with how big they are, i think i would regret getting them reduced or chopped off, in short its normal to want to change your body when you are young, you just shouldn’t let it effect your later life.

Reducing breast size is a crime against humanity.
Breast reduction is VERY different than full mastectomy. There's many good physical reasons for a very large breast that causes back pain ect to be brought down a size or 2. Also, if someone has an extremely high risk of breast cancer due to, for example, the brac gene mutation (family history), well mastectomy is a rational choice not the only alternative but a rational one).
These mastectomies have NO medical benefit. They're done for mental illness.

I grew up in a strict European family where girls weren't allowed to do all that much. So at a young age I constantly told my mother I was a boy and not a girl and preferred dressing as a boy and playing with boys. I hated playing with dolls all I wanted to do was build the tree houses, hunt for frogs get dirty in the mud basically what we used to call back then a tomboy. Thank God I did not grow up in this era, because had I, I would now be on some form of hormone replacement therapy permanently destroying my female body which I cherish today. Because at the age of 13 I realized I was a girl always had been and wanted to continue to be so. Leave children alone, they do not know what they want and the reasons they say things are completely different than what you presume they are. All I was really craving was the same kind of Freedom that the little boys had. The only way I was able to express that at the age of four was to say I was a boy.
I'm horrified they are using Lupron in this way. I used it twice to get endometriosis under control as an adult and knew it would put me at risk for osteoporosis later. How does a prepubescent kid know what that is???!!!

How is affirming to a child or adult of his or her transgenderism different than affirming that a child with anorexia is terribly fat? I was able to visit a young woman in an in-patient clinic for people that actually BELIEVE and FEEL that they are fat and totally disgusting. This young woman was probably about 5'7 and weighed 100 pounds, but she believed that she was morbidly obese. Can you imagine if we treated people with anorexia the same way as we treat children with gender dysphoria? If we gave them drugs to help them lose weight, allowed them to get surgery - say liposuction - and maybe even removed a few ribs to make their waists smaller? Of course, at first, those people with anorexia would feel great, but their mental illness will only crave more dieting, surgery, and liposuction. How is affirming transgenderism any different? This is absolutely demented! Shame on those that push this ideology on our culture, families, and children!!!

Well thank you. As a father of a girl brainwashed into thinking that she's a boy I can tell you that parents, especially divorced fathers, have very, very limited influence in this type of nightmare. You cannot believe how horrified I am by the thought of my little girl being mutilated, but my influence in the matter is almost symbolical. Been fighting for 2 years.
Please pray for her wellbeing. I know it's one of the few things I can still do for her at this point as she doesn't want to see me, for not being tolerant enough. It's like she's in a cult and I'm not invited. Absolutely horrible.

After 12 years they are now with me and both were feral. They were in a real bad state: One accidentally broke a plate and was cringing in a corner because I thought I would beat him. Four years on and they are flying, doing well at school and much more confident boys. There are still some issues but its getting better.

I read an article years ago about a transboy in the Denver 5280 magazine. In that article the author interviewed a psychologist who specialized in treating kids with gender dysphoria. A high percentage (80%) were able to accept their biological gender but the emphasis in the article was that the compassionate thing to do was to affirm the child's desires. That seems to be the standard position now even though so many would be able to accept their biological gender with therapy. Make no logical sense unless it's a decision based on ideology.

the lives of these children are not in danger of being lost in any physical way, if a doctor is needed to preform a lifesaving procedure, thats what theyre for. they will perform the surgery in a way that successfully repairs the patient, the symptoms end, and that is the end of it. there is no medical procedure to change a male into a female, there is no surgery which can alter their chromosomal makeup, there is no transplant which can allow a patient to experience what its like to be the other gender, ever. the patient has only ever been one person, with one gender, and have never nor can they ever experience what it feels like to be the other gender other than the one they are and have been and always will be. since theyve never been the other, theyre incapable of saying they feel more man, or more woman, because there is no experience of the other for comparison to differentiate between the 2. given that impossibility, coupled with the fact that there is no faulty part in their bodies that could be repaired and the symptoms end, that we have found, makes comparing it with a visible, measurable, physical defect in the body and treating that with surgery at which point the symptoms end, with that of an ongoing hormonal regiment which statistically increases the symptoms, and the surgical removal of functioning organs, is not a valid comparison and no valid argument for you to compel the physical manipulation of their outer appearance to more resemble that of the opposite gender, leaving the patient scarred, and the emotional state the same as before the procedure, or worse emotional state post op. there are no measurable benefits, there are many measurable harms. doing that to a child is wrong. if they want as an adult to do something to their bodies, it is at that time when they will be responsible for the choice they make. any age prior, it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure the safety of their children by law, and to put a child through an unverified, illogical, measurably harmful procedure which is unnecessary to remain living, is a crime. by law.

My step-grandmother, whom I call Baba, had to get a double mastectomy because of breast cancer. She has made it clear that she doesn’t have the same sensations in her breasts like she did before the cancer and mastectomy. When you get a mastectomy, you are not just removing the fatty tissues. You are removing nerves and muscle as well. Simply getting fake breasts put in doesn’t restore the sensations that real, fully-formed breasts have.

I remember back when environmental pollution was still the biggest problem.
One of my sisters is doing this to herself. Shes changed her name and cut off all her hair and wraps her breasts up to make them flat, shes stopped shaving her legs and body and dresses like a man. It's been for years. I remember being told by my younger sister to not use "pronouns and call her by her new name" and I refused...not out of anger or hate or judgement or anything negative but out of love. It's almost like my sister is killing herself slowly. Murdering who she is, little by little, until shes completely replaced her identity with one she made up herself. The hair I used to brush is gone. Though she still has the same face it's not her. Her eyes are different, her soul or being has changed, it's this distant look in her eye. I know that sounds really dumb or rudimentary but it's true. It's someone or something else looking back. I havent seen her for two years because I just want to cry and its like shes already gone.

really? the doctors wanted to push anxiolytics on me like candy. I guess it depends where you are. It is still heavily overprescribed (benzos/anxiolytics) but some places have luckily woken up about how dangerous such drugs are and aren't just handing them out for a single panic attack anymore.

@I love pork I have mixed feelings because yes, they even saved me in a sense from wanting to off myself from chronic insomnia and neuropathy. But even still I think they're best as a last resort. Which sounds like you did so no judgment from me. I'd just be careful to resist the temptation to continually up the dose every time the effects start to dampen. That's the key way people get in trouble. And because that does inevitably happen with anxiolytics if taken daily, it makes it so that their therapeutic benefits are only temporary.
In the end I had to address the root cause of my illness...after a year and a half of rehab getting off a benzo

This is beyond horrifying. It's disgusting. I was a tomboy until my twenties. I hated dresses, playing with dolls, and mostly hung around boys or other tomgirls. I WOULD HAVE BEEN LABELED TRANSGENDER- and I am NOT! I may have been medicated, possibly even surgically modified. My son wouldn't exist let alone the ability to breastfeed.
