- A tutorial showing how to play the intro for Mr. Tambourine Man on a 12 string without fingerpicking. Not sure why I was referring to this as 'Turn, Turn, Turn' in the video commentary. Uhh Duh.
You do a great job for figuring this out from what you hear in the original recording. But you can get the instruction from the man himself in the video "The 12-String Guitar of Roger McGuinn". He breaks it down and at the end of the video he talks about how the sound was achieved by playing into double tube compressors in the studio board. Great stuff. Oh, and he endorses and uses JangleBox Compressor/Sustainer live, which he says has the same elements of the unit built into his RM signature model 370/12. Jangle on!
In your video you say Turn Turn Turn but this is obviously Mr. Tambourine Man.
Thank god somebody knows how to play this song. The other tutorials on TH-cam are so sad.
Beautiful guitar, great sound ! Sounds exactly like Roger McGuinn.
Nice job!! But, you really should turn up the TREBLE!!!! The intro is very trebly. yours is way too bassy!!!!
Sounds good. However, I do think one must fingerpick to get it really right.
tnx 4 sharing this... it sounds REALLy nice and spices up my "so called" version of Mr.Tamborine Man:)
Really nice...very clear and clean playing...well done.
The pleasant wing coincidently choke because kettledrum oddly answer alongside a eager side. magenta, caring french
Almost right. Only the third last note is a d on the 2nd string third fret. At least if you want to play it exactly like the Byrds.
I lilke the variation gives it more bells, is it a Am7 chord? I been trying for months to work this out lol
Thanks for putting this together ...wonderful !!
Learn the tune, play the tune, then add your own flavor to it...that way you're not totally plagiarizing it 😉 nah seriously though, adding your own spin is never a bad thing, ta heck with the critics. 👌👌👍
Thanks for making this video. It's interesting to me that before he got his Rickenbacker 360/12, Roger McGuinn had a 12 string acoustic guitar with a pickup mounted in it and he wasn't satisfied with the sound.
Thanks, from San Antonio , Texas
Nice 660/12! I'm thinking of acquiring one.
Close but not exactly correct.
Did he not say turn turn turn.
Sounds good to me 👍
Thats not turn turn turn 😂
My god that Ricky sounds good
cool 12
I like the Extra note variation. Very good! To note: Roger didn't add the extra note, but...should have consulted You on that.
Like the added notes makes the song awesome
I think you got it perfect, thanks
Very nice!! I like those ascending high notes at the end!!!
Nice guitar ,but if you want Byrd tone you must use compression!! M x r makes a decent one for around 90 bucks you will like it .You can get better for a lot more money .
A musical score is incorporated in anthems etc. The exhibit for the Universe must be Mr Tambourine man.
Both songs really need a 12 string. Play it the way you want to.
Give me the tabs your killing me here
You're*
That Yamaha guitar does sound great
Sounds right on to me.
Sounds right to me
That Rickenbacker!!!
Beautiful now play the whole song
The E min 7 makes all the difference

Turn, turn, turn?
Did you say TURN TURN TURN??? cause thats not this song
Jim mcguinn
Hi, does someone what’s the name of this Rickenbacker ? And what amp is he using ?
It's a Rickenbacker 620-12. No idea what the amp is, but it sounds Fendery...
Model is 660 12. Amp is mesa lonestar special.
A real Rickenbacker?
sehr gut! 👍
Nope, not right. You need to use those fingerpicks if you want to sound like RM.
My2ube He just stated that this version is not with fingerpicks. I think with a bit of compression on the tone it will be close enough .
@@45zapatero I have an inexpensive 12 string, a compressor pedal helped, an EQ pedal helped more. Used metal banjo picks for the first time yesterday - that was really jangly and great fun.
Its does not sound twangy enough
Apparently a Janglebox is needed to get that classic Byrd's sound. There's a couple of demo videos to be found on TH-cam.
I think it sounds great.
Anyone with a RIC will find a Janglebox affordable. For those (like me) on a tighter budget, a compressor pedal helps, and an EQ pedal helps further. Slap some metal banjo picks on and your almost there.
I think you have it to a T on the fuller version, I take it this is the bar that leads into G? So the first time you omit the 2 bass notes? Then play the fuller part leading into G, is this right?
What you say is correct, at the end he adds the two bass notes (E0/E2, E/F#) leading into the G chord. Prior to that he adds an extra B3/D).
