I think with a starting price of $1198.45, a 400 nits 2.8K display, 1080p webcam with auto framing and blur effects features, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is a neat business laptop that will satisfy the needs of the business community as well as the casual user. This laptop will give you a lot of bang for your buck for sure! Great review as always Andrew!! 👍😁
I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that is at least 3 generations prior. It still works great, good for browsing, email, word processing, etc. I had the Slim pro 9i but just couldn't live with the battery life. When Apple announced the New MacBook line I decided to trade in my M1 on the MacBook M3 Pro in black. I love it I can use it all day and never have to worry about it dying or slowing down. I have never been an Apple fanboy but I have to admit that Apple has done it right. Thanks for the review Andrew, it's appreciated.
Nice PC. Camera is good. Keyboard is good. Like the dark keys for good contrast with backlight. Only other negative you did not point out is there is no sd card slot. This still is a minor detail. Display looks very good. Appears to be a good value with the discounts offered. Great review.
I have the last gen, X1 Carbon Gen 10, which I love. I will probably upgrade to the Gen 12 or 13 depending on real world battery life of the 14th gen and newer Intel chips. I would highly recommend repasting these with decent thermal grease, liquid metal, or PTM7950. The stock paste is trash. You will get better sustained performance out of them, and they will run cooler. I personally switched to PTM7950.
One day, about ten years ago, my laptop Thinkpad X220 refused to boot the operating system from the mSATA SSD. At that moment, I was in a hotel in a small city in the far north, and I urgently needed this laptop to perform urgent tasks. In this situation, I simply booted a second operating system that was pre-installed on the second hard drive. Since then, I have believed that a laptop has no right to be called a “business laptop” if it does not have a second drive on which to install a second system. I have the same opinion regarding laptops without a flashlight (the X220 laptop had a flashlight «ThinkLight»), regarding laptops without a trackpoint, and, more recently, laptops without customizable backlighting for each key, and laptops with matrices subject to PWM flicker. And unfortunately, not a single modern laptop fits these requirements. I hope that Lenovo will someday release something that meets all these conditions, or ASUS will overtake them if they add a trackpoint to the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip, or ASUS will overtake them if they add a trackpoint to the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip IPS.
In my practice, this was an isolated case, and it was not caused by the operating system. I have no complaints about Windows other than their new Start Menu. I described in my post one example of why having a second drive is important. But people's lives depend on the reliability of some laptops, and for this reason, increased fault tolerance is required from these devices. For many businessmen, it is important that the failure of the ssd during an important business meeting cannot cause its interruption, or cause the loss of at least one minute of work records. Therefore, it is important that information is continuously duplicated onto a second disk for backup. But many modern laptops do not have a second drive, and for some reason manufacturers position them as business laptops.
It is a tough battle between the X1 Carbon gen 11 and the HP Dragonfly G4 for best traveling business laptop. That Intel 13th gen U series CPU give good battery life and excellent single-core performance for both laptops. - HP Dragonfly G4 has the style, display resolution, weight (less than 2.2lbs), and web camera advantage. Getting access to the SSD isn't easy because it needs a special size screwdriver. - The X1 Carbon gen 11 has the brightness, easy access to SSD, and sound system advantage. Dolby Atmos sound refinement system is noticeably better than HP audio for Edge.
I find the highest (i7 with 1280p) X1 Carbon get pretty hot on the buttom-left side, its also not powerful enough and the viewing angle for the 1080p screen pretty bad, is there another Lenovo that is a little bit more powerful with matted higher-res screen that is just a little heavier than the X1 that you recommend? The workstation might be too heavy...
I love the X1 Carbon and Thinkpads in general, but when will they get rid of the disgusting rubber coating on the chassis? It's baffling that they even keep using it. It's not just a fingerprint magnet, eventually, it becomes dull and discolored in spots and looks just plain nasty.
What about the touchpad? Is it a good one? Is it the same that is used in T14/T14s models? There are quite a few complaints about the "cheap" feeling of the T14(s) touchpads, especially the clicking...
The touchpad is a glass one which is different from the t14/t14s that you mentioned. It feels good, has a nice texture to it, and the clicking is silent and nice feeling. Almost like a macbook touchpad. However, like the rest of the laptop, it shows fingerprints easier that I'd like so i put a skin on the laptop and touchpad (which doesn't feel as good but protects the laptop underneath)
Any thoughts about Dell latitude 9430 vs thinkpad x1 gen 11 both i7 ? Looking a lot of videos, gen 11 has newer gen intel .. what is your thoughts guys? Thanks in advance
Given you mean the M series that intel had in the early 2010s and earlier (35w tdp) then this is pretty much the same. My unit can sustain 30-35w under full load
It's the premium materials that drive the cost up. I've been a Thinkpad user since the early 2000s but never had owned an X1 Carbon, one think I dislike is reparaibility, for example to replace the keyboard the process is more elaborated compared to the bigger counterparts.
Hey Andrew, can you do a review of Acer Nitro V 15 with an RTX 4050. i'm thinking of buying this budget gaming laptop and i want to know what's your take on it. Hope this message reaches you and you make a video on it as soon as possible. Thank you !!
X1 Carbon configurable with 1370p. 13 gen Intel 1370p faster 30% than 1355/65u in multicore. Intel 13 gen have 8k 60p decode hevc,vp9,av1 ,encode hevc,vp9. Plays eazy TH-cam 8k 60p
I have an X1 Carbon Gen 7. The 11th generation doesn't offer a 4k panel like my 7th gen has. I hope future generations have it or else I'll end up getting something else.
I felt the same way but I am pleasantly surprised by the 2800 X 1800 Screen. Typically I like the 4K version and have a 4K 10th gen. I wanted the 5G WWAN so I upgraded. I now think that this screen resolution and the Legion 9 resoultion of 3200 X 2000 may be the perfect balance between the 4K and QHD+ screens.
@@JASCancerDoc If I had to buy again the Slim Pro 9i might be what I'd get. It's small and light and it has close to the resolution. The Legion 9 is 16" and after having the Carbon so long, I'm having trouble liking the Zephyrus M14 as 144p and it's a bit heavier but man it smokes the Carbon.
Can you really not do 4K video editing with ease given the i7 processor, 64GB RAM and 2TB storage ? How would this fully loaded model compare to MacBook Pro for 4K video editing/uploading?
@michaelpujos3827 Except it's a worse laptop in nearly ever way. The chassis is less premium. The touchpad is much worse. The keyboard is worse. The ports are worse. It's literally a f**k you to AMD.

Think I should wait for the 12th gen or take the deals with the gen 11 and just max spec it out
I’m waiting for 12th gen x1c. I heard that the cooling will be improved greatly
Seems that the 12th has less battery life!
@@joneslukas Interesting. I was going to build the 12th gen but now I am looking at the 11th.
The SSD prices are highway robbery. A 4TB 990 Pro is $200 cheaper than 1TB from Lenovo! Glad it’s user upgradable.
Patrick bet David is lucky to get all of these laptop insights from his brother
Can't decide between gen 11 and gen 12 because of the battery life! Would gen 12 with 1920*1200 screen last as long as the 11th gen?

Hi, I ordered this with the 2.8k oled display. I wonder how much will it affect to battery life. Do you have any relevant test results?
Unfortunately I don’t have an oled unit to compare
If it has M-Series Chips, this would have been a perfect laptop. Good keyboards, durability and efficiency.

Very impressive, but vpro makes me not wanna buy it. And the “nonvpro” version has only 2xPcores which makes ur vbox lag
Yeah, AMD 7040U is just better in every way compared to Intel's U series.
@@cameronbosch1213which laptop would you buy
Why? Is Vpro have a problem?
Unfortunately, In India, it is double the actual selling price. Extremely expensive. In India, it starts with Corie 3 at $1999 for basic confirmation

What does the 1370p do to the battery versus the 1355U????
Will this run some light games like MTGArena for example?
We need to pressure lenovo into adopting a force touch trackpad, along with the upper buttons.
Is the Gen 10 Intel Core i7-1280p chip more powerful than the Gen 11 Intel Core i7-1365U chip?

Framework 12th i7 1280p 64 or ThinkPad 1365U 32?
I have the Framework 13 AMD not the intel version so I cannot comment.
@andrewmarcdavid Just Josh got the AMD 7040 U Framework 13 and he recommended it over the Intel version.
Where is the T14 GEN 3 review 😢😢😢😢
They should do a AMD APU version of this.
Absolutely. AMD's Ryzen 7 7840U destroys Intel's equivalent U series.
