For just 250 euros, base spec but I'll buy cheap upgrades off amazon or something. Love it, minimal damages keyboard and everything is flawless 🔥🔥🔥
Picked up the 8th gen 7, with m.2 and 11pro installed for $114 plus shipping on eBay. Got lucky! This laptop is great for everything. School, work and play. Even with upgrade costs, better than the new ones coming out these days. Upgraded to 2tb and 32gb ram. Batteries still at 70%. So those might be next. Great video showcasing the little beast.
Nice man, got i5 gen 8, battery, charger, and good condition for $119. Will do the same with mine of upgrading to 32 gb and 1-2 tb nvme. Maybe get duel heatsink since people are saying it’s good

It’s funny your i5 CPU performed better than my i7-8650U by 300 points (R23) even though my CPU has a better cooling system (dual heat pipe which only comes with dedicated GPU). My laptop stutters a lot in Minecraft and other games compared to you, and the display is not even Full HD!. I think I lost the silicon lottery. I’m still thankful I own one of the greatest laptops out there, I didn’t buy it for gaming in the first place. I appreciate your video 👍.
I have exactly the same t480 as you. your instance probably has poor CPU and GPU cooling. you need to check the density of pressing the planes of the copper radiator to the planes of the CPU and GPU crystals. stamping of copper plates can have small defects in the form of protrusions, which makes it impossible to press the cooling radiator and chips. it is necessary to align the planes as much as possible, by the method of grinding and polishing, constantly applying, to compare the contacting planes. one more nuance, the temperature sensor, which in the form of a wire, is pressed against the side plate of the radiator, reacts too slowly to the rise in temperature, and it needs to be moved to the heat pipes. then the fan will react faster, increasing the speed earlier than now. thus cpu throttling will not be as critical. Also, it's a software problem in temperature and CPU frequency management, which drops when the mx150 GPU exceeds 70°C. also, before starting the game on t480, give the laptop some time for the antivirus to scan the system, and only then start the game. try it good luck
I have the ThinkPad T480s. Intel Quad-Core i5-8350U with 1.7GHz, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD. It's a Linux machine now. I plan on more mods, but I can't seem to find time and access to another laptop to do everything at once. Dual fans, memory expansion, possibly a touch screen mod, but performance first.
I highly recommend undervolting the CPU of your Thinkpad T480. Previously, my i5-8350U scored 3300 in 3 passes, now it can get 3900 for 3 passes, or over 4k for a single run. (Cinebench R23)
@@benchmarks31 Are you suggesting that the temps are higher because of the undervolt? I doubt it's because of that. You might want to check other metrics in ThrottleStop. Personally, I'm fine with my CPU running at max temps under load. I got a 4234 Cinebench multi-core score with 4 passes this morning after trying out a bit more undervolting.
No, you misunderstood. The temperatures are high before undervolting. Even in the video you can see that the temperatures on stock settings are very high - 90 degrees Celsius during gaming.

The touch screen is practically no different from a regular FHD. Battery life may be slightly lower, but not enough to worry about it. I was skeptical about laptops with a touch screen, but after purchasing the X1 Yoga I completely changed my mind and I think it is quite a nice and convenient option.
@@benchmarks31 ..interesting. I have never viewed the two screens (touch vs non-touch) side by side. Is it possible to notice any differnce by simply looking at them? The Lenovo specs lists the same brightness etc. Wish there was a side by side video on it. The battery life is over 9 hours so I doubt all those who say it kills 30 percent of battery life.
30 percent less battery life by using a touch screen? That can't be true. Unfortunately, I don't have a touchscreen T480, so I can only rely on what I can see on TH-cam or read.
@@benchmarks31 ,,i suspect that you are correct. I doubt that there is any difference, or at least no measurable difference. In fact, I doubt that the screen even appears different.
