Glaisnock Mansion House, n 1833 this grand house was built for a large family (The Allasons), in 1968 it became a school for rural students of the area and in 2015 it became fully abandoned.
    Glaisnock House
The house has been extended over the years to what can be seen today.
Little is known about the Allason's accept they were high ranked in the military and involved in politics.
In the mid 1800s, the Estate passed from the Allason family to Captain Robert Campbell of Auchmannoch in the parish of Sorn.
The estate was broken up around 1949 with the mansion being bought by the County Council. The Council opened Glaisnock in 1952 as a junior secondary school. The school specializing in rural education, took in boarders as well as day pupils. Glaisnock was operated as a four year school from 1968 until its closure in June 1973.
The house was built around 1833, it was designed by James Ingram of Kilmarnock for a Mr James Allason however the house has been extended over the years, not much is known about Mr Allason except that he ranked highly in the military and had some involvement in politics.
The estate was then bought by the County Council and opened as a secondary school in 1952. The school took in boarding students as well as day pupils from 1968 until its closure in June 1973.
The house was bought by a Chinese man in 2014 but he died suddenly from a brain tumour back in August 2015, the result of this was that the plans to renovate the building into a Chinese language and cultural centre were held up, all work stopped at the building back in 2015 and it has been left derelict ever since.
Although the 19th Century Mansion House isn"t on the top ten of the country"s Most Haunted list, it certainly has its fair share of spooky sightings and ghostly goings on.
The huge house is said to have a window for each day of the year but not all of these windows can be looked through.
One room was boarded up so no-one could see in or out and the story goes that it was here that a woman was kept hidden from the world"s gaze. The reason for her imprisonment is open to interpretation. Perhaps she was insane and, like Mr Rochester"s wife in "Jane Eyre", kept locked up. Perhaps, like other noblewomen, she had been unfaithful and placed under lock and key by a tyrannical husband.
Whatever the reason, it is believed that room became her world - and it was within those four walls that she eventually died.
It is this tale that could have given rise to the sightings of the "Green Lady" stalking the halls of the house over the years - perhaps using the afterlife to visit the places in the house where she was forbidden to go during her life.
There are also reports of people visiting the house when it was a residential school and being kept up by weird noises in the night.
On various ghost-spotters websites there are also several reports of a ghostly figure of a child, standing below a large tree in the grounds of the garden.
These sightings go hand-in-hand with a story that somewhere in the estate lies a forgotten burial ground.
There could be a historical explanation which ties in with these reports. In the past when someone was found to have committed suicide they would not have been buried in a graveyard.

Many thanks for watching Jules.Yes it was beautiful.I hope someone buys it and restores it to its best self again.Apparently a Chinese businessman bought it in 2014 and pledged £6 million to restore it, but he sadly died of a brain aneurysm, shortly before work was due to start.Let's hope someone else comes forward.
