I agree. I could trip my air intake sensor on a new stock air filter just by pulling out and passing on a hill the sensor would trip the dash light to tell me to replace my air intake filter. My S&B filter never does that. So the stock filter is choking your engine plus the cost on a stock air filter is off the chart.
Under the hood nothing is cold how they can call it cold air intake 😂,,,the best way to try 'em is not only by talking but putting it on a dyno b4 and after,,
I always ran cold air intakes on my trucks. I’ve noticed better throttle response better sound and better mpg. Not only that it makes the engine bay look nicer! 👍
I'd like to add, if anyone has problems with check engine lights, it was probably because they didn't disconnect the negative battery cable before they unplugged the sensors and that is what caused the issue. Disconnect the cable, then gently disconnect your sensors and be careful with them, I wrapped mine in clean rags as I removed them. Perform the installation, yes getting the filter on the end of the tube with the filter in the air box is a pain in the ass, but have a small flat blade screwdriver available to help get the last of the filter lip over the tube. After that its pretty easy. Here's some recommendations: If you even think you might be close to needing to change your serpentine belt, do it while you have the box out. Per alldata, you should remove the airbox to change the belt anyway. I have a 2020 Ram 3500 and I wish I would have thought about doing that when I did my install. As far as sound goes, I rarely hear the turbo but I definitely have a deeper growl with the engine brake, but I do tow a lot with my truck.
I always buy the wet filter. I think it’s more of a preference more than anything. I treat it like my dirt bikes, oil the filter and let it catch the dirt.
My wife has a 21 Ram Rodeo 2500 Diesel. I've got a question about these cold air intakes from BANKS and S&B. I understood from your video about the intake baffle and the directional air it provides to the turbo, and that if the baffle is removed then air displacement to the turbo is deficient and causes stress on the bearings. These two brands eliminate the baffle, so are these causing possible harm to the turbo? Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Oddly enough, the 5th Gen trucks don’t even have that come baffle that the previous generation trucks did.. I was surprised myself. Must’ve done away with it at some point. I feel like 80% of diesel truck guys run a cold air intake without any issues. Mines been golden thus far 👌🏼
