Healthy 'Fast' Foods - Veggie Burger, Hot Dog & Fries

  • Please READ this box for more info. Burgers, Hot Dogs and Fries are just some of our favourite fast foods. According to a recent article on Huffington Post, Americans eat nearly 50 billion burgers a year. And according to the survey done by The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, they estimated that Americans consume an average of 20 billion hot dogs a year. On top of that the average American eats 29 pounds (13kg) of french fries a year.
    Considering that these research and surveys are only based on Americans, as a whole, we consume a lot more burgers, hot dogs and french fries across the world. Hence, that is why the global fast food sales are projected to reach $239.7 billion this year (2014).
    While I do enjoy my occasional fast foods, they never leave my body feeling good afterwards, I tend to feel really bloated. That's because fast foods are mostly high in sodium, unhealthy fat, sugar, calories and low in nutritional values. So instead of avoiding these fast foods, let's make our own healthy burger, hot dog and fries. Let's go back to the basics of these "fast" foods and use minimal ingredients with high nutritional values.
    1) SWEET CHILLI VEGGIE BURGER
    2) LEAN HOT DOG
    3) BAKED SWEET POTATO FRIES
    All these recipes can be made in bulks and stored in the freezer, just like the store bought versions. The next time you're craving for fast foods, go into the kitchen and make your own healthy "fast" foods instead. These "fast" foods are high in nutritional values and taste even better! So be good to your body. =)

    Definitely going to try the veggie burger. I already knew how to make the sweet potato chips as I've made them a couple of times in the past 2 weeks. They're delicious and I can't get enough of them! I put garlic on mine.

    I tried the vege burger exactly as you outlined. The only change I made was to use slightly cooked oatmeal and oil instead of cooking spray on my baking sheet. The results were delicious.

    this is an excellent way to cook . I will cook my man this. He isnt fond of healthy stuff, n if i dont tell him what im making n he eats it, he will love it, i know. he loves my cooking and always has for 5 1/2 yrs now that weve been together. thx for posting this Joanna.xoxo

    I make my veggie burger almost exactly like you, but instead of sweet chili sauce, I use Worcestershire Sauce. oooohhh sooo yummy. Then ,I add black beans with the chickpeas too n multi colored bell peppers instead of cumin. I also use 2 eggs in it n a lil italian breadcrumbs. Yours sounds healthier. I may give it a try

    For the hot dogs you should try to used one quarter of the water and put a lid on and cook slowly or use a tiny bit of oil in the bottom of the pan and cook with the lid on slowly I think this will give you a better hot dog I do this for my turkey burger and Mine always turn out perfect I never use any water and I never use any oil to cook them but ofcourse the leaner the meat it may cook a little different the meat it may not do the same but I will try your way also thanks for the video I loved it
