Mad props to anyone with the patience to camp, wait in line, etc. I can't do the lines... For anything. I also collect records and just like bourbon, people line up for an event called Record Store Day when limited edition, exclusive pressings etc are dropped. I can't do the RSD lines either. Nice haul, especially for being so much later than you planned!
I think the state-run lotteries are smoother and make more sense. Living in Colorado, it's all up to individual stores to do lotteries, which is usually based on purchase amounts through the year to get entry, and the cost to be "competitive" (i.e. get in more than 1 store's lottery) can get astronomical over the course of a year with no guarantee of getting anything in return. The rest of the stores will hide their stash for their favorite customers but still typically charge 2-4x MSRP for them. Some will put them on the shelf, but that's Weller green for $125, not BTAC or anything. I'm about at the point where it's not worth the time or money for the hunt, and I'll just start looking for interesting pours when I'm out to eat/drink.
That is a great haul, the system with multiple tables that your state has is a great system. Here in Kentucky when there is a lottery you get one bottle, only can choose one bottle, unless you have multiple friends that don’t want to drink the bourbon and are in line with you you only get one bottle. So count yourself lucky that your system is like that.
Thanks Thomas! This is our first sponsored video on the channel. We've done some review of things, but it's good to try and recoup some of the costs of these videos.
I won spot 97, I ended up with a King of Kentucky at table 1, Stagg and Old Fitz 17 at table 2 and various other things like Bardstown Chateau de LaBaude 2

Ironically since I turned 18 my dad has become an unaware whiskey drinker and runner. Im 25 now and have my small collection of whiskeys that value at total about $900, with 18 total bottles. With the scandal involving the governing body of alcohol distribution here in Oregon recently being brought to light I was surprised for him to drive across state to find blantons, four roses, eagle rare, makers 46, stagg and a few others for him and his friends to split. In total it was 18 bottles or something.
Now watching through the video I realize you are at the S Donahue Dr location, I should've been there but figured it would have had more people in the walk up line, See you next year for sure

Honestly if my state would do the state ID requirement, our drops would be so much easier and better for the locals. Our drops always get posted all over TX and KS groups and it ends up about 50-50 split between locals and outtatowners
If it’s state run… Find the person in charge, and after every drop have every in state person you can find e-mail them and let them know that out of state people are flooding in and making it difficult for locals to get the good stuff and request that they require in state ids. Might take a while but it’ll work. Go up the chain to the governors office if you need to.
How does the end of the year in 2023 event work? Is it just 150 total winners for the whole state ? Spread out between all the stores or 150 for each store?
