They find Emma's "White Queen" moniker a whole-ass problem (which it is?) Imagine the reactions when Kitty tells these kids about Emma taking over Ororo's body.
Kitty and Emma give off more "little sister with a overbearing big sister" vibes now, which i like. I liked them working together during the krakoa times. Plus how it showed that kitty is one of the few beings that Emma actually truly cares for.
This issue really clicks 100 percent. Emma's dynamic with Kitty is fun, and its nice to see her come around and meet her in the middle. Emma's pragmatism about training mutants makes sense because ...inevitably mutants are often targeted and vulnerable. Which is one of the parallels of real world minorities that never stops feeling relevant. Also, Pritti is the hero all of them needed.
I still have an issue with the fact that Melee has the exact same power set as Cipher, who was just completely brushed aside and forgotten. Melee is getting the story line Cipher should've gotten.
While I agree I don't like Melee having Cipher's powers, Cipher doesn't need to be here since she already has control of her powers. I wish Melee had different powers and that Cipher was here EX in the place of both Emma and Kate lol.
@@1187underground Having lived more than half her life in close proximity to Jean Grey, Psylocke, and Professor X, Kitty has developed incredible resistance to mental attack and sensitivity to such effects - the fact that Emma was able to 'brain-ride' her sensory output without Kitty knowing is actually pretty BS, TBH.
The lack of knowledge on understanding what White Queen means is a lack of understanding its origination in this context. Chess is still very much in existence and practice. If Emma is no longer operating as a member of the Hellfire hierarchy, then the name/title could be put aside. Context is always important. I am more concerned with names such as Black Lightning where the context is very clear. Love the character as I was introduced to then Black Vulcan first, but do we still need the full name? The other reason the kids may not know Emma is that they may not have been anywhere near the social circles of the Hellfire Club. They don’t know the names or identities of most politicians or scientists either.
Emma's moniker comes from the Hellfire Club's obsession with chess. White Queen, Black Queen, White King, Black King, etc. I wouldnt really consider it problematic, knowing the history and that shes still very active in the Hellfire Club. I like how Bronze is being written as the "heart" of the team and I like Axo's powerset. I agree that Cipher should be involved in helping Melee with her powerset too, because they are so similar. Im interested in seeing who else is going to become a part of the New Mutants team. It feels like Uncanny and Exceptional are basically taking the same route of introducing newer, younger mutants to drive the plot points
I agree on your thoughts that Axo resonates with current Kitty and Melee represent Teen Kitty..but would add that it would older teen Kitty. From Issue #1, it's been obvious that Bronze has some similarities to the younger teen Kitty when she first joined the X-Men: eager, and sunny outlook. Just like when Kitty was 13, Bronze is the plucky youngest member. I like the flashback that Kitty had and we saw some accurate moments. Almost no one remembers the time (think it was Savage Land?) where X-Men fought that former high priest that had a crystalized body and in a former encounter with Storm had him fall in to a lava lake that left part of his body a melted mess. For some reason in that 2nd encounter that Kitty was along for, when she dived through his body, phasing HURT him. We never got an answer to WHY.
Personally not a fan of the direction they're taking Emma Frost, making her more of a Magneto-kinda leader I always felt Emma's "cornerstone" is helping and teaching children, her loosing pupils before does make sense that she would want to teach them how to survive, not necessarily how to fight. But directly pushing them into dangerous fighting situations (Or controlled dangerous situations) seem like a lot of mental damage to their trust towards her. And she knows how to manipulate people, it just seemed a bit out of character for her. And what is with that telephathy-fighting style she got going on all of a sudden?
"White Queen" represents the white colored QUEEN chest piece. Thinking anything beyond that seems to be searching for an issue. Overall very nice review
emma having telekinesis just ruined her character for me. it seems all the psionics now have telekinesis and/or the ability to create psionic-energy constructs.🙄
YIKES these mutants suck. Axo 's power is.....??? "gaydar? None of these are interesting. Where is Monet, Penance and Chamber? I was soooo into that team. These gender fluid mutants sigh. .... not even powerful or interesting.

And then spill the Betsy-Kwannon tea 🤣🤣🤣

Has anyone mentioned how Emma's power had a PROFOUND effect on physical objects in her fight with Kate? When did that become a thing?
and when did Kitty learn to basically become immune to a high-level telepath's powerset?

This is probably my second favorite From the Ashes book so far.
What’s your first???
But, keep in mind that it really refers to the “White Queen” chess piece. That was the theme of the Hell Fire club. It’s kind of that simple 🤷🏾♂️
I think we all know that, the optics over it are still bit problematic. And in-universe I can def see a Gen Z kid questioning the name lol.

I like how emma always wants the attention for herself and carnero’s art make her look more brilliant that the others

I agree 1000%!! I'm so TIRED of it it Legitimately pisses me OFF at this point 😮💨
Keep up the good work!!!
Axo has a sort of Spidey “skinse”
Damn, between Kitty and Anne Marie, Scott ain't looking too hot over there 😂🤕

All of the newcomers have some pretty solid abilities
And make it look easy!

Hope you'll have a good day
Please o please….do a Kitty Pryde=Karen video! Hilarious, and awful.
(“white woman melt down” still making me giggle here on the subway)
Does Emma officially have telekinesis now?
the Five in One do over in NYX and personally, I dont think they should
Stevie Hunter has Stevie Wonder hair.
❤❤❤❤
“Before Sis goes Super Saiyan on us” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kitty had every right to bring up the n word in relation to the Mutie. Anyone that can’t see that is not viewing this from a human rights standpoint
New Xmen names…I will never live down Safespace and was it …Snowflake?…😂
Axo seems to have a power set like a combined Empath/Doug Ramsey.
This was some good character growth for Emma and kitty . Axo has gotten some good exposure of what his powers allow him to do.
👍🏿👍🏿
I watched you and tried
.your good..this book straight up sucks ..and so does the nyx

How do you get “gaydar” from what is a more advanced “spider-sense”?
