Ive had malfunctions with the Glock 43. The Sig hollowpoint ammo would "land" on the feed ramp, and would completely jam the pistol. It happens, some guns DONT LIKE certain specific ammo.
Those neutered magazines would be my guess as to why it malfunctioned so much, unless I missed you using standard capacity mags. Glocks are designed with standard capacity mags in mind. Once states like California and such cause design changes it compromises the pistol in my opinion.
It happened even with the standard cap 15 rnd in the video.... even those 10 rounders are no different in any way from the 15 rounders other then not allowing more than 10 to load so that doesn't effect the gun lol..
@@jmanownz985 Yeah, I was agreeing with you. I replied to the guy complaining about "neutered magazines". My understanding is that any generation of Glock can use any generation Glock mag.
The 10 round mags use a different fallower that causes the round to tilt down when it’s being extracted from the magazine mostly on the last round that causes more of a issue with hallow points. If you change out the fallower with a standard double stack fallower it fixes the issue just doesn’t show the round count properly through the witness holes
I keep hearing the 15 round mags don’t malfunction at all. Your probably right about the fallower. Whats your favorite kind of 10mm ammo to feed your 20?
Unfortunately, I also had malfunctioning with the Glock 20 Gen 5s. Failure to feed. I purchased a Glock 20 Gen 5, 6 months ago, had malfunctioning and sold it. About a month ago I figured I might just have had a lemon, and purchased another Glock 20 Gen 5, again had the same malfunctions. Like you I've rarely experienced problems with Glocks. I decided to buy a new Glock 20 Gen 4 and have never had any issues. The only changes Glock made, with the 20 gen 5 that might be the problem is, the additional slide cuts and slide optics cut maybe is just light enough to have changed the geometry of the slide to frame?
My experience with the G20 has always been love/hate. It's such an awesome package but just isn't as reliable as you expect from a Glock. I had several malfunctions just like this, where it doesn't feed the next round. And I'm not even limp wristing.
I find that with my GEN3 G20SF this can happen with an aftermarket recoil spring/rod. When I was running a Wolff 22 lb setup it would happen every once in a while. I haven't noticed it with my current Wolff 20 lb spring, and with the factory guide rod/spring assembly I can't ever remember a malfunction. Really, with this said, even with a 22 lb recoil spring it wasn't a very common occurrence. Maybe once every few hundred rounds I'd get either a FTF or FTE. I think I even caught a stovepipe once. Also it didn't matter, it could be very hot ammo, or very watered down ammo. It could do it to either. The stiffer spring sure did make it shoot like a Cadillac though. I feel sure I've probably got going on 4K rounds through this gun, and have probably experienced 5-6 of these types of instances.
I have a g20 gen4 with zero malfunctions in prolly 1000-1500 rounds. It’s my favorite Glock to shoot and have had no malfunctions out my g29 gen4 either in my experiences.
Do you believe it’s the loose tolerance’s in barrel causing case bulge? I have had issues with both of mine. Changed to heavier springs but have not yet put an aftermarket barrel with tighter chamber support.
Alaskan Ballistics was having reliability issues with the G20 gen5 and recommended cleaning the gun thoroughly out of the box (most Glocks havent needed this in the past). I cleaned my G20 gen5 pretty good out of the box and its had zero malfunctions in a few hundred rounds (4 different kinds of hollow points including underwood, hard cast underwood and 3 types of FMJ).
Wow Hickok I have been watching your videos and you can shoot just about anything and with amazing consistency. I recently bought a new Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS to replace my S & W Shield +. The first time out while it cycled ammo really well the trigger break was horrible. I mean really hard or stiff! By the time it would finally fire I had lost focus on the shot. So much worse groupings than my Shield. So I bought a new Timney trigger and that made all the difference. That and I also bought it a Holosun SCS Green dot sight. Now it is a nice improvement over my Shield even though I still like my Shield. So far I have fired about 250 rounds of Blazer CCI and some Winchester ammo without any failures. While it's my first Glock after doing some upgrades it is now a really nice pistol to shoot!
HickHock, I know you’re told this often, but you’re aim is insane man. All the best to you and your family, and I always come to your channel whenever I’m looking for a new sidearm.
It could have possibly been the mag that caused the malfunction… I’ve got one certain Glock mag that causes a malfunction in my 19x every time I use it and never had any problems with any others…
My Gen 1 Model 20 has been flawless for almost 30 years. I developed a load using my Dillon SDB, and once I got the taper set correctly, they never fail to fire.
Sure seems like it's got a lot of flip compared to the Gen 4, and the heavier ammo casings seems like it's on trajectory for the next county. I wonder did they lighten the spring or slide some?
Multiple malfunctions. The one I bought had multiple malfunctions every other mag it seemed. The Gen 5 20 is almost entirely different than the Gen 3/4. The slide is significantly lighter, there is a lot of steel removed from inside the slide and outside where the front is rounded off and the slide serrations and the slide cut out making for a much faster slide speed and I assume would batter the frame more. This would also explain why my brass was ejecting literally 30+ feet away, my Gen 3 is only 10 feet with the same load. The recoil spring is longer and entirely different from the Gen 4 making aftermarket support impossible for the forceable future. No barrels are available however KKM is working on one and the G20 Gen 5 shares the same lockup as the G29 so any aftermarket G29 extended barrel should work. I sold mine a couple weeks after having just bought it and bought a Gen 3 Glock 20. No malfunctions after 400 rounds now.
Had issues with my glock 20 gen 4, the trigger wouldn't reset, no issues with my 19x. Wonder if glock really should just stick to making 9mm for anything newer than gen 3
I was thinking about purchasing a model 20 gen 5, but now I might wait for awhile and see if this is a recurring problem. You might have to do a chapter 2 in the near future. Thanks Hickok.
It seems like a failure to feed, probably due to the mags, as you can see that with the first failure, the extractor failed to grab the casing so that tells me the round wasn't properly seated when the slide went forward. at that point usually the extractor should hold the rim just fine. I would say it's either the mags or the gun needs to be fired more to loosen up a bit.
I fell in love with the front separations on the GEN fives, but that is it. I would stick to GEN three. They are the best. The most reliable. The most proven. They have the most aftermarket support too.
I took the Glock armourer course, I don't know whyglock doesn't brag about all the internal improvements, my guess is the malfunction thing is some little tweak in a mag or extractor or something. No doubt in my mind it will be addressed. Sadly seems like you want to avoid the first few months of production. Saw it with gen 4s then later with the 42 (took them 3 tries to get the mags correct). I trust my Glocks to work just perfectly as long as I do my part. But any gun has to prove itself especially the first few months of production.
I’ve seen others have problems with their thumbs riding the slide lock and causing malfunctions on the Gen5 pistols. Something about the amount the slide lock protrudes maybe? That said Hickok has been shooting Glocks longer than some members of Congress are old, so he’d know.
Sheesh, Gen 5. In the People's Republic of Kalifornia we're in a time warp. Can't sell the latest stuff in this state because of our loooney state government.
My Gen4 G40 had a couple failures to feed in the first 200 rounds or so but since then it's been perfect (have probably over 600 rounds through it now). Maybe the large frame Glocks just need more of break-in.
My suggestion is to buy a Taurus G3C ..They don't malfunction at half the price...plus they have a better grip...metal sights...better serrations...They just work

My 19 is a Gen 4. I thought I would like the finger grooves on the grip, but I don't. The gen 3 is better IMO. Maybe I'll go for a Gen 5, but sticking with 9mm.
I used to own a Gen 4 G20. I didn't care for it. I thought it had too much recoil for the caliber with the standard 180 grain at 1200fps round. Now I'm no sissy. I shoot 44 mag, 357 mag and 454 Casull on a fairly regular basis. The recoil from the G20 wasn't as heavy as a 44 mag but it seemed "sharper". Sometimes even slightly painful to shoot. Also, mine would not cycle using 200 grain hard-cast from Grizzly. Since I purchased mine for bear defense, I didn't think it was reliable enough to carry for that purpose. I sold mine and replaced it with a 1911/5" bbl chambered in 10mm. The heavier platform handles the recoil from the 10mm very well. I would equate the recoil to a +P 45acp round. I have run several different loads and bullets through mine without a ftf. I purchased the single-stack (8 round) RIA (ROCK ULTRA FS) in 10mm. They also make a double-stack that will carry 16 rounds. There are also several other makers of 1911 that will chamber them in 10mm. If you love Glocks, you might like the G20? Personally, I'm not a huge fan but I will agree they are well-made and usually very reliable weapons.
@@mikek5298 they probably have a different spring and stopper that isn't the same as the factory magazines that are supposed to come with it. Different spring tension may be causing the rounds to not cycle properly
I just got a G21 Gen5 and had several nose up FTF malfunctions. Sent is back to Glock. They replaced the ejector and it seems to run fine now. I've read several other youtubers experience malfunctioning with the G20 and G21. There are issues with these models. Buyer beware.

i noticed the malfunctions were with a older gen 3 mag. im sure hickok has put thousands of rds through those including being londed for extended time.
it was with a older gen 3 mag, so im definetly leaning weak spring with hot ammo. hickok we know how great glock mags are, but that may be one thats had just got weak over being loaded and shot for yrs. God bless
if you spend some time researching the g20 this has been an issue for a long time that glock doesnt acknowledge. I had a glock 20 that constantly malfunctioned with all types of ammo. I even sent it back twice for them to look at and nothing was wrong with it. I made sure I wasn’t limp wristing it and left it all stock. I believe it has something to do with the 10mm rd in a polymer frame.
Have to be careful with older generation mags in the gen 5 glocks because they don't have the relief cut for the slide lock on the side. This causes the slide to lock back.
There's a lot of 10mm handguns out there now from S&W, FN, Sig, Glock and what have you. Can you do a video one day comparing em all and giving your opinion? Yea! Life happens Right!!!
Glock IMperfection!
Yep they malfunction too. Lol
Sounds like my P322
If you watch the malfunctions it's from where the pad of his big hands is hitting the slide release on the right side of the gun.
Thank you Hickok45 for the awesome gun video and I have a glock 43x and I haven't ever had one malfunction and I have use all kinds of 9mm ammo
WOW 😳, I was shocked how many times , of malfunctions ! I have same Generations, in 20&29 never had a problem, just goes to show you different reactions with different ammo. Thank you
This man never misses.
For real. The man could aim straight up and hit the 80 yard gong.
Rarely, but when he does miss, he doesn't edit it out.
Ive had malfunctions with the Glock 43. The Sig hollowpoint ammo would "land" on the feed ramp, and would completely jam the pistol. It happens, some guns DONT LIKE certain specific ammo.
G17/19 eat everything
A simple fixe is polishing the feed ramp.
It’s not the Glock it’s just single stack period not counting 1911s
My friends glock hated hollow point, it refused to feed the last round
Because it’s sig 🤮
Picking one of these up this weekend. Got a Gen 4 29 a few months ago and have fallen in love with 10mm.
Except he's using standard capacity Gen 3 or 4 mags...
@@seanscott9186 that doesn’t effect anything I use them with my gen 5 model 20 with zero issues
@@jmanownz985 Yeah, I was agreeing with you. I replied to the guy complaining about "neutered magazines". My understanding is that any generation of Glock can use any generation Glock mag.
really do see it all on this channel. thanks for the many years
Hickok, can you also do a review of the Glock 21 Gen 5? Thanks a lot
When you were hitting the gongs in a certain pattern, I could've sworn I was hearing the first few notes of "My Country 'Tis of Thee" lol
"perfection"
I have a g20 gen4 with zero malfunctions in prolly 1000-1500 rounds. It’s my favorite Glock to shoot and have had no malfunctions out my g29 gen4 either in my experiences.
I own a Glock 19 gen5 and have had zero malfunctions.
There’s a video called “Glocks secret new 10mm” that channel tested this particular gun extensively.
I just bought a Glock 40 MOS gen 4 (i guess the only Gen for the model 40) and it runs perfectly, any ammo ive tried so far.
@@Peter-nm1pshell yeah just stuff 3 rounds in the bore and see which rim gets struck
Mine is flawless as well!
11:35 I’m not sure that Glock understands the definition of “perfection”.
All the best to you and your family, and I always come to your channel whenever I’m looking for a new sidearm.
been waiting for this video. i got mine like in march and no malfunctions whatsoever. luv the videos
So... What happened to federal ammo?
cant say i been a fan of it

I had my first squib this weekend, I'm so glad I noticed it while shooting and I didnt explode my barrel
Love Alabama holsters have a few of them myself
Got that bad boy on 02/09/2023 for my birthday from my older sister, best pistol ever
Nothing better than a 10mm hitting steel!
new hickock45 = a good night
Sure seems like it's got a lot of flip compared to the Gen 4, and the heavier ammo casings seems like it's on trajectory for the next county.
I wonder did they lighten the spring or slide some?
Finally! Been waiting on a Gen 5 G20. Thank you!
Been waiting for this one.
20 or 21 🤔
45 is classic
10 is just awesome
Both is probably the only real answer
3 malfunctions?!?!? 🤔
IMO .45 should only be for 1911’s, I’d get a 10mm Glock 20 though😂

My grandfather got a gen 5 the day it came out and it is sweet!
I put about 500 rounds through mine. Luckily no issues for me
Glad I went with the XDM Elite and saved some money.
Had issues with my glock 20 gen 4, the trigger wouldn't reset, no issues with my 19x. Wonder if glock really should just stick to making 9mm for anything newer than gen 3
@@patrickferryman6579 I have a Gen 5 27 and 22 and no issues so far.
Excellent info. Thanks.
I have owned Glocks 17 gen3, 26 gen3, and currently own a 19X. No problems. But friends buying gen 5s have had problems.
I was thinking about purchasing a model 20 gen 5, but now I might wait for awhile and see if this is a recurring problem. You might have to do a chapter 2 in the near future. Thanks Hickok.
He is
This could also be mag related since he was using older gen mags
It seems like a failure to feed, probably due to the mags, as you can see that with the first failure, the extractor failed to grab the casing so that tells me the round wasn't properly seated when the slide went forward. at that point usually the extractor should hold the rim just fine. I would say it's either the mags or the gun needs to be fired more to loosen up a bit.
@@huracan200173 yup
Rule of thumb for anything.
Never get buy it when it first comes out. Wait for the "bug testing" to take place first
I’ve seen others have problems with their thumbs riding the slide lock and causing malfunctions on the Gen5 pistols. Something about the amount the slide lock protrudes maybe? That said Hickok has been shooting Glocks longer than some members of Congress are old, so he’d know.
It really is bad ass how H.45 and the H.Outlaw a shoot so far with hand guns
Not so honest "outlaw" edits his shooting footage Hickok is legendary and accepts his misses (the very few he has)

Glockmalfunction®️
I'm thinking it might those 10 round magazines that are making it hang up.
Why?
@@mikek5298 When you modify a big magazine to only allow 10 rounds, it's easy to screw it up.

Buyer beware.

it was with a older gen 3 mag, so im definetly leaning weak spring with hot ammo. hickok we know how great glock mags are, but that may be one thats had just got weak over being loaded and shot for yrs. God bless
How do you get the pro grips to last? Mine didn't twice.
if you spend some time researching the g20 this has been an issue for a long time that glock doesnt acknowledge. I had a glock 20 that constantly malfunctioned with all types of ammo. I even sent it back twice for them to look at and nothing was wrong with it. I made sure I wasn’t limp wristing it and left it all stock. I believe it has something to do with the 10mm rd in a polymer frame.
Surprisingly, being in Cali, my Gen 3 Glock 20 hasn't jammed up on me yet, just other people for limp wristing. Was my first firearm and I love it!

Have to be careful with older generation mags in the gen 5 glocks because they don't have the relief cut for the slide lock on the side. This causes the slide to lock back.
