    I really like this approach. Both training and diet. After stints with soccer, hockey, MMA, crossfit, climbing and more for over 30 years my body has some issues. So focusing on mind-muscle connection and skipping inflammatory foodlike substances has really made a huge difference in my overall quality of life. Another big take-away from this video is to approach end range, stretched positions, cautiously. Thanks guys

    Ben and company. Thanks for the great content. It is invaluable to stress the basics. Same way both you and Stan are successful in business-keeping a stranglehold on the fundamental building blocks of which processes will lead to long term growth.

    I always use bands in dips, you can add a band and almost create a drop set style to your calisthenics.

    Hi Ben. 53 years old this year and still struggling with "what I used to do and look like" Stan's views and yours, on longevity through training are appreciated. Have you considered the 50+ crowd and training/nutrition tips? Thanks, Andrew P.S. - I belive your gym is in "Toronna" Ont.?

      MI40 Muscle Intelligence Ben where can I learn more about what you said at the very end, regarding the "remove all stimulants first" statement?

    • @KingRockets
      @KingRockets 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      foxxrider250r if you're thinking about pre-workout supplements, that's not what he is talking about. He was talking about certain medical conditions such as diabetes and GERD, which can mostly all be treated by removing the stimulant that is causing the condition (ie shitty diet, lack of exercise), instead of applying a band-aid solution (ie relying solely on taking medication). This principle of addressing the actual root cause can be applied across all aspects of life.

    • @foxxrider250r

    What's that about chicken being no good for you? That's the second time I've seen that mentioned in a TH-cam video or in the title.

    • @torynichols2413
      @torynichols2413 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      TheDiMono I think he believes there are more nutrient dense options when considering protien sources. He's big believer in beef, bison, etc. More bang for your buck type of thought process. His videos on vertical diet explain it more

    • @torynichols2413
      @torynichols2413 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stumbled across this and I think kinda sums up red meat over chicken. th-cam.com/video/PwIWs-g7KiI/w-d-xo.html

      Eveytime Stan recommands something,he is talking about the most optimal way to do things. Its not that he believes chicken isnt good,he just thinks steak is a much more superior choice.

    • @meowmeowone8479
      @meowmeowone8479 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What if I can't digest the steak/goat/lamb etc as easily as the chicken & eggs? Say I've more or less been on the chicken, eggs, rice and green leafy/stalky veggies diet for about 7-8 years, even though the workouts are inconsistent at best BUT I eat that way because it seema to be the easiest way to eat? It's not like I haven't tried to switch over to the calorically denser meat options, just can't seem to get the body to accept the change.

    Don't you think when you hit 50 the key to longevity is less weight and body mass, but still lean and muscular! Having healthy joints is one thing, but what's going on inside is another!

    • @auralplex
      @auralplex 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bingo!!! Look at the Ultimate Warrior, looked like Stan Efferding till he was 54, then dropped dead of a heart attack. It always cracks me up when these mass monsters talk about the "health" in regards to only joints, tendons, and injuries - when the most important part is THE HEART/CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM. You are on point with your thoughts... Stan being that big and cut is not good at all. His breathing seems strained, he doesn't sound healthy. I wish him the best though.

      anthony tavarez My wife a physician and scientist and we own a hormone replacement clinic in South Florida. What’s wrong, I make a simple comment and you’re triggered? Rest assured I’ll take my wife’s Ivy League education and 23 years of practicing medicine over Stan’s. Where do you think he gets his knowledge from?

      sct11s45 You probably don’t follow Stan that closely then. The guy is actually in really good shape given his size. And as far as the breathing goes, they were in the middle of a workout it seems so of course he’s gonna be out of breath. If you watch his Rhino Rhants, you’ll see that he can talk for a half hour or more straight and he doesn’t strain for air like a lot of big guys would. Just my take on it.

    lol thumbnail has him doing dips, while the title says training for longevity. dips are one of the worst exercises for joint pain, injurys etc.

    • @Ulysses6806
      @Ulysses6806 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jason sheedy that's a misconception, dips, like any exercise, 'done wrong' can be bad, as can bench presses, squats, shoulder presses etc, etc. I've been dipping heavy for over 30 years with not one single problem, but benching destroys my shoulders for example...

    • @auralplex
      @auralplex 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not a misconception. I have no elbow pain, but soon as I do dips, I feel all kinds of elbow pain. You might be a lightweight, hence why you don't feel it. I weigh 245 lbs. The problem with dips is you can only do your body weight, or more, unless you are using that machine that gives you help by pushing you up. It's very bad for your elbows. Benching with the bar is bad for you because your arms are held in an unnatural position for the duration of the push (and negative). Use dumbells for that so your wrists can twist the way they're supposed to. And you get much better results with dumbells because you use more of the pec than the bar, which uses more triceps and back. Also you can cheat with the bar by bouncing it off your chest. With the dumbells, you do all the work, but it feels much better.

      sct11s45 that's funny because I have elbow tendonitis and pressing with dbs hurts and benching with a BB doesn't. Plus dips don't hurt it either. I guess everybody s different.

    • @HaydenGladstonePT
      @HaydenGladstonePT 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No sunlight, fed Soy, horrible caging conditions. If you are confident with where your eggs come from, then they are a great source of many important micronutrients

    😂 if they could just get the motivation to stimulate the movement !!!
    Damn that's sad. I'm not saying you have to be a bodybuilder or I'll world-class athlete or even an Athlete, but you should naturally be motivated to move

  • @functionalfanatic9016
    @functionalfanatic9016 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    there is no human functional reasoning for doing dips, heavy work should be done in the sweet spot of the shoulder mobility, not the very edge of mobility, the arms have that mobility for maneuvering and wiping ur a$$, but doesn't mean it should be turned into an exercise, just like standing on your head imho
