    In 1969 I got a Z50 when I was 13 y/o for Christmas. My Dad brought it home on Christmas Eve. It was the beginning of my addiction to motorcycles. Went on to race Moto-X, Hare Scrambles and Enduro's. The Z50 was my gateway drug and I still have it!!!!!!
    It's been stored in my climate controlled crawl space since 1986 when I bought this house.
    Watched the entire video. What memories that brought back.
    Thanks for posting Matt!!
    For those that want a shorter version, you could take out short clips of each step and edit them together at the end for a quick step by step review.
    If there were questions then they could go back for the detailed version. JMHO.
    Thumbs up.

    Thanks so much for a fantastic video. I gave the carb on my z50 a good clean today after hard starting and bogging yesterday. I stumbled on a few things doing, checked the issues against your video (didn't realise there was a specific way to insert the throttle needle until it reved crazy high after startting it!) and it sorted me out. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video. I have a 1968 Honda Mini Trial. That was the first year with this model. It came with white handle grips, no key and no head light. I got the carb rebuild kit and this video will help a great deal.

    Just got a 1968 z50, no element in the air cleaner. Idles fine but under load cuts out. Will the air flow increase cause this? I’m ordering the little round air filter today that goes inside the housing. Thanks and great video. Also can you tune the carb without the actual filter element? Or will it run different with the element in?

    I have a 69 with no key I was able to start it. Just wondering if you knew the key position or if yours is able to run with out a key. I was thinking that the key slot was worn out that's why it could run with out the key. I saw that you moved the key once it was running. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    • @jeromek2321
      @jeromek2321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The key is basically a kill switch. When not in the circuit, the bike will start and run without a key. Without the key, you need to create a short or cut the fuel to stop the motor. Taking a look at the wiring diagram helped a lot with this.

    I recently acquired a 1980 Honda CM200T. It came with a knock off chinese carb so I got an exact fit OEM carb off of ebay and I am now in the process of rebuilding. I have a question that I cant seem to find a straight forward answer to. The pilot jet in the original carb in the "pressed in" type. I have read a lot of forums and people seem to have been able to remove them to clean them with vice grips and tapping them back in when finished. I cant seem to find any videos or more in depth details about this. Any tips or tricks that you have for these pressed in pilot jets? Thanks in advance!

    • @HTMR

    Just completed a carb rebuild kit on my K1. Bike was running great prior to the gas going bad from not putting Stabil in one winter. Went to start it and it was instantly over revving. It seems that the throttle slide going into the carb isn't closing completely. It's lined up properly so the idle screw will catch on the little notch, and it's re-installed per the clymer shop manual. Any thoughts on why the slide won't go down? I even disconnected the throttle cable just to see if the needle and slide would go down more and if doesn't. I'm completely stumped!

    The parts cleaner your using I think says that you can only soak parts in it for 3 hours. I have the same stuff in my parts washer and I wrecked a carb just like that and a few years newer z50 carb. I had then sitting for a week. The finish was ripped off and it started to eat away at the aluminum. Had to replace the one that's worth more and more expensive. Just for future experiences. Maybe I'm wrong on the 3 hour thing but read the can so you don't mess up someone else's carb.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. You can't leave it in there too long. The chem dip I have states 15min, however, on nasty carbs I do leave them in longer to get them to clean up.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @aspireeripsa
      @aspireeripsa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MatthewMCRepair yea sortable like from high rev to mid rev it drops normal but for mid rev to idle it takes a bit to come to idle so if ur driving it it sticks but the slider is going going down in the carb and it doesn't feel sticky

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +insane_ivtec Assuming that the throttle slide is not the issue, a lean condition can cause that. Check for a dirty carb and vacuum leaks. You can do a quick test by turning the choke partially on and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then it is lean.
