Most don’t know this but that pilot jet is not straight through, which is why it’s almost impossible to get a wire through it. And if you manage to force a wire through it you likely have bored out the hole too big causing it not to run as it should. Issue is that pilot tube where it meets the carb body is offset. Wire will catch on a lip of carb body when trying to push it through. Unfortunately no easy way to clean this effectively. If your lucky, carb cleaner with a tube on it or air compressor may help. I’ve also heated up pilot tube to expand it and then shoot cleaner and air through it. Some have removed tube to clean it but it’s difficult without crushing it…

Awesome story! Thank you for sharing. I would hold onto it too. I wish we never sold my brothers 86 that he had in the late 90s

Hi there! I really don’t know what size it is off the top of my head as it was done before I got this bike. I do know it’s a tiny petcock and is OEM.

Try adding Archoil 6200 to your gas. Had the same recurring problem. Out of frustration/desperation, added Archoil to my fuel and it hasn't happened for several years...for what it's worth.

And you use such small amounts that a bottle will last for a long time. I just add it to all my fuel now....my 96 XR400 loves it.
