    I don't know why it seems like Alexandra gets so much hate! She is completely self taught, has her own unique "brand" of styling, and makes everything she uses available to her viewers (and usually shops at affordable places). She also customizes spaces for people who hire her and as long as THEY love their space, that's what matters! Keep doing great Alexandra, I watch every video every week and as a beginner to interior design, you've helped me learn so many tips and tricks.

      They hate because they don’t have a clue. As a designer you talk to your clients and usually get an idea who they are what they like and dislike. You’re also given a buget to work with, most people are well aware that you get what you pay for.lastly she is An amazing young woman. And that’s part of the reason why she’s hated by some.
      Lo ya, Alexandria

      Who said they " HATE " HER???

    • @s.zander6211
      @s.zander6211 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What does it mean to hate...? It's just that everyone can design their home in the best possible way if the money is loose in their pocket. Most of the content shown is not feasible for most people. And the reason why people watch such videos at all is because they are looking for solutions to problems with complicated living conditions. And the solution can't be to get a workshop or expensive furniture. And the budet-friendly solutions are really not that nice. To call criticism hateful, I don't really know..... 🤷🏼‍♀️

    While I can see in a sense where people are coming from with thoughts that Alexandra's designs look the same, I think that it's also important for designers to develop their own personal style/niche. Her brand is a certain aesthetic (boho, cozy, fun, etc.) and people love that, myself included. I've been obsessed with interior design for a few years and I can definitively say that every designer I've watched and LOVED is very good at their craft and has their own unique style that sets them apart from others, hence you kind of go to them for a certain "look" that is unique and that they have really perfected/established. To me, it seems insane to expect a designer to have a super strong grasp of every design aesthetic. There's a saying that I think fits here, "Jack of all trades but a master of none." If Alexandra was just this designer that did whatever she wouldn't really have her signature look. I will say that she's definitely mixed it up at times, especially when designing for a male client so I think she can go outside of her regular style aesthetic too. I think that a lot of women gravitate towards her because we enjoy the looks that she creates and we also expect that she will be doing them somewhat inexpensively where possible as part of her brand I believe, is creating looks with pieces that are accessible from places like IKEA and creating looks that won't exactly break the bank for the most part (with DIYs etc.). Anyway, these are my thoughts. Take them for what you will.

      I agree! It's the same way with being an artist (like a painter, etc) or a musician, or any kind of art! If you have your own unique style, that's what's going to keep people coming back!

    • @Gabriela-zp1kj
      @Gabriela-zp1kj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Wisegirl1121 I think that’s when you see the difference between someone who studied art and design (Mr. Kate) and someone who didn’t (Alexandra). Not saying Alexandra doesn’t have good style, but the repetitiveness of her styling choices definitely arise from a lack of education in design.

      @anneburroughs3039 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      My thoughts and feelings exactly. I watch Mr.Kate, The Sorry Girls, and Mia Maples. No one’s aesthetics come close to AG’s. I enjoy them all, and find lots of ideas to take away, but I really want to replicate Alexandra’s.

    The room is very minimal and comfortably sweet and the clean palette is welcoming ...the only drawback are the lamp cords that are hanging noticeably under those adorable side tables , otherwise really an exact fulfilled concept . love it though and your recipient can hide the cords herself if she decides to. Alexandra is such a great choice to help those in need because she fulfills wishes while thinking with her heart.

    I am a senior citizen, way past senior, and I downsized to a house built by an older couple. I hate the fixture over the small dining table and the bathroom fixtures, they just look like old people. I’m thinking I could get a wicker basket and hang over the existing light, maybe take the shades off, and it would modernize it quite a bit. I have a lot of Mexican inspired pieces to add color and to remember my many trips to Mexico. The wicker would go well with that for sure. Now I just have to figure out where to get a basket.

    Beautiful job Alexandra- the dusty plum linen duvet on the bed made the room. However, as nice as the bedside tables are-$100 each is kind of pricey. As usual love the wooden pieces and accent lamps. I would have added curtains to soften the coldness of the room a bit more ( maybe a lighter dusty blue to filter the sunlight a bit. ❤️ your style!

    One thing I noticed about the gallery wall when you first walked in that is such a decorating mistake is that people put up pictures way too high on the wall. The anchor piece needs to be eye level. It feels awkward when it’s all mounted too high and people know it feels wrong but no idea why. I love the side tables you found. And I love the comforter color. I love warm colors and natural wood. I live near the ocean so I have shells and beach glass and driftwood decorating my bathroom and sugar pine cones decorating my office and living room. Snd beach rocks too. Quartz, jade and other very pretty stones. I love natural items in my space.

    I always enjoy these room makeovers Alexeerendr'a style is not really my style as I am an older woman who prefers higher end design but even though that is true,.I learn a lot from her blog/vlogs ( great sources for lighting for example.) I enjoy seeing new and fresh pieces that I might newer had discovered, how things work in Canada and what I enjoy most of all is that Alexendra is a true entrepreneur. She knows how to market herself,,she knows her to build her brand how to build partnerships with businesses and her unique "remote" restyle option. I believe her niche is for the younger person who wants a makeover, a person in the "staring out" stage of life, hard-working millennials -again not me - but finding your niche in business is the absolute key to success.

    I actually like this. There are a couple of details I would have done differently but the overall result is calm yet warm which was the goal. I was glad to see that it didn’t end up overdone or overcrowded and there’s a balance in the color palette.
    I personally would have added a bit richer hanging plat (that one string of leaves seems a bit sad to me), rotated the chest of drawers 90 degrees and centered it under the fan (I might have played with leather or natural wood handles/knobs to see if they make the unit a bit warmer but who knows if I would have stuck with it). I personally don’t think the other side of the door needed a picture (another hanging plant would have been my choice instead of the floor one), I would however have mixed one or two wooden frames into the gallery. And I would have picked a different shade of linen (some warm neutral or muted yellow or light warm brown that’d tie in the color in the prints). I would also have moved the pouf into the corner by the window (where the floor plant is now), as It makes sense to me that someone would sit there with a cozy blanket and a cup of coffee to browse the morning news while it’s raining outside. The uneven placement of the beads on the mirror would drive me insane, but I’m sure she’ll change that anyway.
    Still, I think the end result worked well enough and I particularly loved the nightstands and all the light fixtures.

    It's a nice makeover, although I see the same type of decor. The same paint colors, art work, mirror use, and light fixture. Maybe incorporate a variety of different designs?

      Isn't design supposed to suit the client's needs? The client happened to want this style.

    • @AnaGarcia-gy5oo
      @AnaGarcia-gy5oo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mediumpurple4994 A designer should try to venture out especially if you want a larger client base. A designer shouldn't only pick clients that have the same taste as the designer. I'm not doubting that she gives practical tips, but try to challenge herself and incorporate other things that will give that same cozy feel

    Did anyone else get the vibe that Alexandra may have been going to work in shades of blue?
    I wonder if the crumpled nature of the linen [look] would be sufficient for me to brave using a solid colour rather than a print on my duvet? I have pets who enjoy a little snuggle on the bed with me on weekends 🐕🐩🐈
    I do like the pared back styling of this bedroom 🌌

    As usual the room turned out great. Immediately I was hoping the walls, or at least an accent wall, would be painted a mid-tone to dark color! There is so much light from that amazing window that a darker color would have been so lovely.

      They are beautiful, and inspiring, tho'. I love looking at those Homesense tables. If they're real wood, it looks gorgeous.
      I've been thinking about how to DIY similar tables, because $200 for side tables is not in my budget. Also because it would be fun to make.

    • @shellsisacoolpear

      I think cause she moved it away from the window and added side tables with a lot of empty space under them made it seem more roomy.

    My mom told me that if I put a mirror near my bed my evil mirror-dimension twin will visit me in my sleep amd steal all my energy. I was like 7-years old and it really freaked me out.
    So I don't put mirrors in my bedroom no matter how tempting the extra light may be

    • @absolutelyakanksha
      @absolutelyakanksha 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Funny that books on Asian arrangement of living spaces almost have similar suggestions but different logic, ofcourse. According to Vastu(Indian)and Feng shui mirrors bounce off energy so placing a mirror right opposite to your bed may hinder your peaceful sleep or even cause restlessness, though you can put a mirror in your bedroom just chose a better wall 😛✌

    • @dlutz7248
      @dlutz7248 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Tbh it kinda makes sense. In the bedroom you're supposed to relax. Catching your own movement and reflection all thr time when a mirror is opposite of bed will inevitably distract you, its like having an additional person in the space. As such, you won't relax, part of you will inevitably follow the reflection.
      At night its even worse, because imagine if you wake up in the middle of the night, and the first thing your brain registers as you sit up in the bed is SOMEONE MOVING WITH YOU IN THE DARK. Hello, freakout.
