Parking ticket in visor is a really useful tip. Also, programming the buttons. I have the idrive 8 and it has a lot of menus. To be able to program common activities is great!

Glad they were of value to you Ivonne! Some higher end BMWs such as the X7 and 7 Series did have the option to add fragrance through the climate system but that isn't the case for the X3. BMW makes some really good air freshener ents on their website, I would check those out. amzn.to/43zA6aI

Greetings. Thanks for this great videos explaining all aspaect related to BMW cars. I bought a brand new X5 2023, and the vehicle has a function that the car turn off when I open the driver door, even un parking mode. So, when I need to open the door for something quickly (pickup mail or parking receipt, etc) the car turns off. Can you tell me how to deactivated this feature or a trick to solve this?

It’s a very popular question unfortunately it’s a safety feature so it’s difficult to have a patch for it.
Couple things you could check. In settings under doors and access try turning off the box that says turn off vehicle when opening door.
If that doesn’t work you may have to put the vehicle in sport before exiting the vehicle.

Thanks for the sub! Few things to mention with Apple CarPlay on 2018s.
Apple CarPlay is subscription based on that year, if you’ve never got it to work I’d check on connectedrive.com to subscribe to it. It’s about 300 dollars for the life of the vehicle.
If you did have it working but it’s no longer connecting I’d recommend checking out my Apple CarPlay fix video on my channel. I have two of them but they both share the same info just different cars, they’ve helped a ton of viewers.
Again if you’ve never used it on your vehicle there could be a chance that it’s not compatible since it was just released the year before. If that’s the case reach out to your dealer and have them check your vin to see if it is compatible.

Mine stopped working because my iPhone needed an iOS update. It worked after that.
@@simia4100 Correct Simi, the latest iOS update messed up a lot of apple CarPlay world wide, waiting for bug fixes and updating is one of the 4 ways to resolve the issue.
Love all these tips. One thing that I don't like and in a way HATE is the relationship you know have with Sirius XM. These people will NOT leave me alone. Letter after letter, call after call, I don't want this service, I never even listened to one second of the free trial. I dealt with them before and they make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel their service so I will NEVER EVER deal with them again. I guess when I bought the vehicle, the dealership provided all my information to them and they will not leave me alone. This is like a crazy X that just will not leave.
Agreed, not a fan at all of Sirius and their marketing tactics. Every single time they always try to upgrade the plan for no reason at all. Glad I made the switch to Spotify!
When driving in normal mode, lift the fod from gaspedal/cancel Cruise, then two klick with padle+ towards the steringwheel, the transmission gets in “sailing” ( kind of neutral) Usefull if you want the car to roll longer/without engine brake. 😎

Thanks RS, It should default to going into carplay as soon as you get into the vehicle. If not, try refreshing the idrive system by holding down the volume knob for until the screen goes black, takes about 30 secs.
Hi BeamerView, thank you for your video, you mentioned the digital key ( card) only work for 1 year? I have 2022 BMW M3 G80 competition xDrive, also 1 year for XM radio?
Correct, it's a one year subscription for all BMW's last time i checked. XM Radio is also a 1 year trial.

@@cpham5566 That's BMW being BMW. The card is eventually going away soon because new vehicles are starting to allow to use phones to work the same way as the card.
@@BeamerView Thanks D, I got my iPhone working with the car, but as you mention, the card is way convenient for running or gym, bike without carrying the bulky key. yeah you are right, that's BMW... my brand new M3 got blow out tire after 2 weeks, took 3 weeks to get new tire.. ( Pirelli tires).

@@fredperry212 yes, I am pretty sure that they can program another key.
I do believe that the key would have to be purchased through the parts department, and then it’s pretty easy to program it to your vehicle.
FYI, “Beamer” refers to BMW motorcycles and “Bimmer” refers to BMW cars.
I must admit I have learned a few things from this channel after my recent 3 Series purchase but I also must add a lot of these 'hidden' items are not exactly hard to find if you read the manual, and quite a few are repeated from previous videos. Minor gripes I know but hopefully feedback to make the channel better!

Yes the manual can be a bit daunting and not completely helpful at times - I learnt how to do the kick move for boot opening from you, not the manual, but some people don't bother reading them at all then wonder why they don't know things.
One point I will make to you that has been said in a comment by someone on another of your videos - please slow down in your delivery, you'll come across much more professional. Being English I'm a bit more laid back than you! 😆

Is there a way to adjust how much the curb view mirror adjustment moves? With mine I can only see the area directly next to the passenger door. I'd rather see the rear wheel and behind the car.
If there was a way, try adjusting the mirror when it goes into the curb mirror mode. It should just show near the rear wheel area.

Is there any way you can turn the volume up on the cross traffic warning system?
I do not believe you can. It's worth checking but in the settings try to look for the SOUND menu or, you could try hitting the PDC button (P with the Cone Beside Button) and go into settings.
If there was an option to change it, it would be beside some of the other sound settings such as the GONG sound or PDC sound adjustments.

I have a 2023 X5 sdrive 40i and cannot find a way to have an audible sound when changing lanes and a car is in my blind spot. I have the steering wheel function turned off so the only thing alerting me to a vehicle in my blind spot is the blinking triangle in my side mirror and the slight shake of my steering wheel. My previous car gave me a beep and I like the added security. Do you know if there is a beep feature for blind spots?

Try using the BC button on the turn indicator stick. There should be a menu that shows your mpg
I’m ordering a 535e. Does the car have an extending sun visor? When I test drove the car it didn’t seem to extend.
We have 530e here in the US. I feel it should have it since much of the interior should be the same as a regular five series. I could try this out in a regular 5 series to confirm it on Tuesday.

It's highly likely that it will have it, being that it will be a newer BMW. Many BMWs built after 2020 have this feature.
Can you adjust the air suspension?
Only if the vehicle comes with it. There will be a lever below the idrive controller
I just got a 2020 x5 after having a 2016 x5 and I'm so bummed there's no heads up display! How do i know what operating system I have and what does it matter?
2020 X5 will come with the iDrive 7. The heads up display is an optional feature, i believe you have to have the premium package in order to have it. Operating system doesn't matter much as this point in time. Idrive 7 is the most popular one currently, and they just rolled out with iDrive 8 which many are not fans of.
You may not have a heads up display, but if you use your BMW maps, you will be able to see the map in the instrument cluster work almost like a heads up display in the sense that it's right in front of you.
I have the comfort seat on my 2021 X5, how can I adjust my headrest forward or backward since the comfort seat doesn't have the button on the headrest????????
Your X5 most likely has multi-contour seating which won't include the headrest tilt feature since with multi-contour there is an adjustment that controls the upper portion of the seat and works in a similar fashion as tilting the headrest.
Question about the climate controls: I have a zone for the backseat. Often my dog is back there and he likes it to be way colder than I want for my zone. I don’t when his air is on or off. Right now, I’m stopping the car, twisting around, and trying to adjust his temperature. Is there a better way?! Thanks!
Hey Jen one thing you could check for, and this is different for BMWs but it may have a auto setting back there where you can keep a set temperature.
Another thing to play around with is the synchronize function that is in the climate control menu.
Maybe you could hit the sync button, set the temperature to what your dog would like, then un-sync and adjust yours?
Never tried it but worth a try!

My sunroof wont open and I have tried do the reset by holding up on the button and it still doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions?
Couple things to make sure.
Car has to be on, and yes holding down the tilt button for about 15 seconds or until it begins to move.
That’s usually how you do the reset. If it persists I’d bring it in to get it checked.

How do you adjust your settings for going through a car wash?
Some BMWs that have the 3D view package have a car wash option which is convenient to use since it helps you align your tires to the railing.
Another feature you could turn off is PDC which is the beeping sounds the vehicle will make when it gets close to an object.
You can turn off PDC by pressing or holding down the PDC button near the gear shifter. It looks like a P with a street cone beside it!
So I went to a burger place and decided to eat in the back seat of my X3 where it's less likely to get crumbs into stuff. You guessed it: the child lock was engaged and I couldn't get out even with the key in my pocket. The lock button was raised but latch wouldn't open. Luckily the left side door's child lock was not engaged so I just slid out. Had they both been locked I would have had to climb to the front seat or maybe the rear. And THAT is how I found out about the child lock.

For that car, if it has it, look on your left knee side where the headlight controls maybe, if it has it it would be around there. That or check the settings.
I do have a question, I saw where you did the trip computer... I'm still a bit perplexed.... can you explain if there is a way to do trip A and trip B?
For example I set the trip to zero I've driven 140 miles on Monday and Tuesday total of 280 miles, I fill up with gas and i want to reset trip A to Zero but i want to keep trip B to 280 miles...
to continue showing how many miles I've driven in the month.

Might be a issue with the button, you could try using voice command to switch the mode too, but if its still not I would get that checked out.
How do you see the gas gauge on the screen
Gas gauge should be located on the lower left side of instrument cluster screen. It may be hard to get a read for it when you have a full tank, but as the tank gets half empty you will start to see how the fuel gauge works, it should also let you know how many miles you can drive before the next gas station visit.

@@BeamerView was 4x4 instructor for them. LR engineers did develop the system really well with terrain response. The TC system brakes the wheel 16 times a second. i am good but i cant replicate that with cadence braking to put resistance to spinning wheels, also I have to do on all wheels not just the one that needs it.

How do you delete saved destinations
Try hitting the option key while it’s highlighted. Should give you a option to delete.
My lights stay in when key us left in car and car parked in garage. How to set lights to go off with key in car?
2 ways. The best way is to lock the and not leave the key inside. Another trick you could try is after turning off the engine, hold down the volume knob for about 3 seconds, and that should turn off the screen.
Keep note that the BMW can detect the key in the vehicle thinking that you are still in it, hence why it's staying on.
Sirius only on U.S. models of course, and Hill Descent Control only on SUV's...

I see. You could try to order one from the parts or service department.
I would check to see if your vehicle is compatible with your phone to use as a digital key. Works the same way but phones are more convenient.
Note about the key cards is that they are subscription based and are only good for a year. At least out of the factory that’s the case.
My phone is connected to the car, and trying to hold down the microphone down to change to the temp or roll down the window doesn’t work.
2 ways to use the voice command.
If you TAP it, it bring up the BMW voice command (This is what you use to control the windows or temperature)
if you HOLD it, it'll bring up the phones voice command, which will not work to control your car.

What about a compass
One of the ways you can get a compass to pop up, is to add it as a widget on the home screen. If you click and hold one of the widgets on the home screen, it brings up a customization menu and you can use that to find a Compass
Also another thing you can do, is have the compass pop up and the split screen whenever you are using the BMW Maps
Interesting that you can’t close the window with voice command, my 2022 X3 you can, and that goes for all the windows but not the sunroof.

However, you shouldn't say that these tricks work on "all bmw's". I have a 2019 3 series for instance: my sunshade doesn't pull out and raising the headrests is manual (with a release button) and not electric...

I bought a 2023 X4 M package have any of you had issues with hearing the noise coming from the windows too much airflow. It seems to be a manufacturer issue. BMW needs to fix this issue. I'm going to probably make them give me my money back and put me into a new car this is not right it should have been fixed were they built this car in Atlanta. How can they let a car leave and facility and deliver it to today dealership with this issue. Especially when you're going over 55 when the wind is blowing outside it is terrible you cannot even hear someone speak on the passenger side
Im sure you've already taken it to the shop to fix it. I agree something like this should be addressed better and only let it leave the lot as a true BMW.
I have taken to the shop I had also called BMW North America instead of the case with them as well. I'm supposed to hear back from someone within five business days. So far I've heard nothing

I stop in my driveway and go to the mailbox when I get back in the car it has turned itself off. I thought I didn't have that feature turned on
I haven't heard of the vehicle turning off while you're away.
But it's very common that if you open your door that the engine will turn off as a safety feature. A way to counter that would be to push the gear shifter to the M/S mode right before you exit, so that the engine is not in "auto / start / stop mode.
And then shift it to park so the engine is running, then go ahead and leave and come back, the vehicle should be running. Let me know if that made sense or not.
