At the same age as CR7 pre injury R9 had 150 more goals and over 100 more than Messi , he was called the phenomenon for a reason . Name one other player in football history that could lose half of his ability and still win a Ballon dOr , that’s exactly what this guy has done , fat with a destroyed knee having barely lucked a ball in two years he was still the best player on the planet .

after he came back in his era he wasnt the best striker, henry was the best, and to prove it to u in fifa best player awards 2003 zidane came 1st, henry came 2nd, and ronaldo came 3rd, and as of goals henry scored minimum 25 goals in the league alone every season from 2002 until 2006 not to mention the assists, in 2004 season he scored 25 and made another 25 assists ! and in 2006 champions league match between madrid and arsenal, henry ate whole madrid team alive and scored an amazing goal running 50 yards from midfield where he took the ball from ronaldo , dribbled him, than got by other 4 players until he scored in their hometown at bernabue! so dont u dare say he was best striker in the era after he came back from surgery! u r foolin yourself with all the facts i just stated.

He had pace, scored super easy, left foot, right foot, chips, screamers, curls, headers, he was as complete of a number 9 as you can imagine. I would say the only player to rival him as a pure striker in terms of ability was Van Basten. But Van Basten had to quit at 28, and did not have the pace and technique R9 had.

The only thing I would change about the statement is that it's probably more like 'Best players, best player'. There's a reason people refer to him as the real Ronaldo.
Obviously CR7 is one of the absolute greatest of all time, but the only player that is competing with Messi for the actual GOAT is Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, aka Il Fenomeno or R9.
His goal vs Compostela was one of the first times I saw him play. I😊 was watching with my grandad, and he said to me after that game that even though he had been lucky enough to see the greats all the way through the 50s all the way up until 2007, that night he saw the best player that he had ever seen.
There wouldn't be a competition for the GOAT if he hadn't been cursed with the injuries he had. Just incredible
