There are so many cool little symbolic details in this show. One example, at the concert, you see Prof Heimerdinger blissfully enjoying the music with his eyes closed like he's literally blind to the corruption happening around him.
CUPCAIT!!!! Also, that's an outstanding reaction. I've seen ALL the Arcane reactions on TH-cam and yours is top five easy. I'm very impressed at your analysis and how well you follow along.
Good catch of the bunny on the wall. And yes, I'm sure the Madam at the brothel knows about Powder/Jinx. (Most people in the Lanes probably do.) But she didn't have the heart to tell Vi, so she just nudged her in the right direction...
To be fair to Jayce here, he was always the one playing it safe. That's why he couldn't get it to work in the beginning. It was Viktor's idea to "crank it" that led to them getting Hextech working.
Jayce wasn't necessarily playing it safe, he just as well needed the push Viktor gave to him to go further. I mean in the first place storing some unstable arcane materials in your room was a very hasty an careless move especially as a scientist.
You're not wrong when you say every scene is "rich" with details. One of the best things about the show is how re-watchable it is. For me, it got better and better each time I watched it again. I kept noticing more and more details. The efficiency of storytelling they manage to squeeze out of each frame of this show is awe inspiring. To me, the most impressive part is the amount of information that is conveyed through the expressions and body language of the characters. It's unlike anything I've ever seen.
I've noticed a thousand details by now and yet she still managed to find one I hadn't seen with Vi's symbolic crucifixion. This shit is the gift that keeps on giving, I love just how rewarding it is.
@@Arkayjiya I'm not sure if it's Vi. Check alarichrul6639's comment below on that one, but I take your point. That's one of my favorite things about watching reactors, getting to see what they noticed that I didn't.
"The animators absolutely outdid themselves. Like how they make an animated character seem so humanly emotive, as if were live action, is beyond me" Once you've finished watching Arcane, I strongly suggest you watch the five part official making of Arcane "Bridging the Rift" videos on TH-cam. They are excellent and give some real insight into the skill, artistry and creativity poured into making this.
"she was expecting an attack" Yes, the way Vi rolls her shoulders, bracing herself for getting the shit beaten out of her is such a tragic detail. "What will it be, men or women" Yes Vi has all the finesse of a sledgehammer. The funny thing is that despite seemingly fitting the dumb brawler stereotype at first, she is actually smart, but what she is not is subtle xD
Excellent reaction! Your commentary is spot on. Arcane is an absolute masterpiece from every angle of production. Adorable to see you actually blush @13:00 mark.
It's true! Although while I always thought Mayor Wilkins was a great character and a great villain, the writing, arc, and performance for Silco are imo a whole next level above the great job BtVS did with the Mayor. It'll be interesting to see what (if any) parallels Jinx's arc in S2 and beyond have with Faith's arc after S3.
I hope I'm not too late, but you should watch the official video of "Enemy" (the opening song) before episode 7. It gives another vibe to what happens in that episode. I love how at the beginning of this episode, Grayson asks Caitlyn "what does she shoot for", telling her she used the gun to protect people. Caitlyn doesn't respond.... and in the end, Caitlyn shoots to protect someone.
What Marcus was essentially a half measure. He wasn't strong enough to stand up to Silco, but at the same time he couldn't kill a child in cold blood. So what does Marcus do? Locks her up in the deepest cell and throws away the key. Then he tell Silco she's dead. Marcus isn't my favorite person, but he's one of the more fascinating characters. His situation with Silco is essentially the inverse of what Grayson had with Vander. You can also tell he'd love more than anything for a way out, he just doesn't see how. Silco has his claws way to deep. Pitiable is the best way I can describe Marcus's character.
My favorite theory related to Marcus is that he got the way he was in ep 1 because his wife was killed by someone(s) from the Undercity. Basically, Marcus' attitude towards trenchers is a parallel to Vi's attitude towards enforcers. But where Vi has Caitlin to disprove her ingrained prejudice, Marcus only has Silco which reinforces his. They have similar blind spots for similar reasons, but in the end Vi is the version of Marcus that not only got some support, but was strong enough that she *could* have pulled the pin.
Hyperstesia, huh? 🤔 That's an interesting theory. Personally, I think it's more likely she has hyperacusis, phonophobia, or misphonia (sound sensitivities). More likely hyperacusis because of the chronic proximity to explosions, a possible head injury (she did fall quite a long way in episode 3), or even possible damage to a facial nerve (which controls the stapedius muscle in the ear) when Vi punched her. But that's just my theory. You'll definitely see she reacts to sound more accutely, but I do think touch plays a role in there somewhere--possibly a PTSD response.
Doctor Who's Family of Blood too However I think a more interesting fun fact, given that SoFie is also reacting to Lucifer, is that Jayce is Detective Dan, Trixie's father/Decker's Ex.
I think Marcus is, in a way, trying to make up for what happened to Grayson by following in her footsteps and working with the leader of the undercity. Except instead of someone like Vander, he's working with someone like Silco now, so he's constantly having to compromise his morals in order to keep the "peace" He's another tragic character, but of them all I have the hardest time sympathizing with him, probably because he's a topsider who has so much contempt for the people of the lanes
I continue to find it odd and interesting that people who haven't been to prison or probably not watched anything talking about it think people in prison are treated fairly and honorably. I'm also confused how many people can't see what the writing and story is doing with Marcus over being emotionally judgemental over a fictional character. Same with Mel.
"Yeah she betrayed Vander" nnno she didn't. For a betrayal, first you need a confidence, a trust, and then that needs to be subverted. Sevika walked up to Vander, who was a community organizer rather than her boss, and told him to his face that she was no longer going to be siding with him, then went to work with Silco instead. It is entirely unlikely that she had any secret or sensitive information to offer Silco about Vander, either. What Sevika did was QUIT. If she's not at liberty to do that, then Vander must be a slaver. Sevika didn't betray anyone.
Sevika told Silco about the kids. That was how Silco had the information to make a deal with Marcus. Sevika gave them up to him and his goal was to kill them all.
That's not Vi's bunny, it's a new one without patches and represents Powder. You can see both bunnies from time to time. Moreover, Powder probably is well educated, Silco is one of the richest people in the Undercity, he could afford a teacher, like the doctor who developed shimmer. Jinx uses chemicals in her bombs pretty much the same as that doctor uses. Apart from that, killing the bird scene is not just about ruthlessness, the bird is a crow, it is a symbol of misfortune, bad luck, being jinx. So killing the bird is an attempt to say that she is not Jinx, at least, not completely. And important note, Sevika, bionic arm woman is not a traitor, Vander betrayed her first. He had no right to have secret deals with enforcers behind people's back. Sevika is an extremely interesting underestimated character, hope to see your reaction on her arc.
"And important note, Sevika, bionic arm woman is not a traitor, Vander betrayed her first. He had no right to have secret deals with enforcers behind people's back. Sevika is an extremely interesting underestimated character, hope to see your reaction on her arc." Okay while I don't see Sevika as a traitor either (for different reasons), Vander betrayed no one. He made it pretty clear that he did everything to protect people and prevent another war they would lose. Doing anything that serves to achieve that goal that he's been very open about cannot be betrayal just like Sevika isn't really a traitor because she made her goals very clear and remained faithful to them. Working with enforcers might feel like betrayal to her but feeling like a betrayal and actually being betrayed are two different things, which is exactly the same reasoning for why Vi calling her a traitor isn't quite right.
Jinx was just pure chaos and really annoyed the hell out of me. Easily the character I most despised in the series. With Silco, you at least understood his ambitions and motives, driven as they were by his legitimate grievances with Topside, plus he had a certain degree of honor and loyalty.
@@cherryfreckle None of that detracts from my assessment of her. She was pitiable only up to a point. I'm sure a-holes in the real world have some sob story to explain why they are the way they are, but that doesn't change the fact that they're a-holes.
Okay, but what did you expect from a mentally ill and deeply traumatized teenage girl? Of course she won't be reasonable. Jinx is a very sad character, influenced by circumstances and her own instability. It doesn't justify her actions, but it's not like she can change the way her brain decides to cope with things. She needed proper help, and never received it.
