@@ClaudieTV Well, Amanda and some of the voice talent actually do stuff with reaction channels and content creators. The videos I’m aware of are on NotSoAverageFangirls Channel if you are interested. Amanda is very open in her support of queer themes, I mean she wrote this episode 😅 Maybe there’s a chance in the future to make a video with them ;)
Amanda said in an interview, that Caitlyn gave Vi the freedom to choose, by sending the guards away, she let Vi break jinx out. She went down there not knowing if vi would run away with jinx But she did it because she loves Vi and wanted to let her choose her own path and be happy even there’s a slight chance she may never see her again. This is her way of showing her love for vi and to right the wrongs. She’s willing to let jinx go .. the person who killed her mother. She forgave, for Vi.
I think that “who decides who gets a second chance” line from Vi really hit her, Vi was saying it about Jinx but she also kind of says it to Caitlyn as well. I think Caitlyn realized that if she wanted Vi to give her a second chance she might need to give Jinx one and she sees that she loves Vi more than she was capable of hating Jinx.
As deserved as the hype around Ella and Hayle are, Kaite is kinda nowhere to be seen in the media work that they do, which is sad. She is the definite caitlyn, great work by her.
When Caitlyn finds Vi alone in the cell, she realizes Jinx left without her. Vi's self-reproach is palpable, admitting her faults and expecting Caitlyn to berate her, to affirm the voice in her head that says she fails everyone. Yet Caitlyn's reaction is anything but condemning. Sensing Vi's internal struggle, she approaches with warmth, countering Vi's mental breakdown with compassion.Playfully yet sincerely, she reassures her: "You idiot, I trust you. That's why I gave you the choice to do what you thought was right. You haven't lost everyone-you still have me. I've realized that my love for you is more important than any revenge." And these words served as a lifeline for Vi. Caitlyn likely didn't approach Vi with romantic intentions for two key reasons: 1) She had mentally prepared herself for the possibility of never seeing Vi again. 2) She wasn't sure if Vi, after everything they'd been through, would still want a romantic connection. To be fair, Vi could have easily grown distant or lost interest in Caitlyn after everything that happened. Caitlyn, through her actions, hoped that Vi would give her a second chance, but she wasn't entirely sure. She likely didn't expect that it would take only two seconds for Vi to respond. I don't think any other scene between them has as much depth as this one. The scene in Caitlyn's bed from episode 1x08 comes second.
Your reaction to THAT scene was absolutely perfect i was smiling the whole time and the way you went over it so many times was the most real thing ever i felt like it was my first time watching as well I LOVE IT SO MUCH! this made my day!
It always struck me just how gentle Caitlin was with Vi. Every time she touches her, it's so soft, like she's worried she'll break her. Vi's not used to anything gentle. Quite the change from "spit on my face, for reasons...."
@@Ladco77 Hey there was a very good reason for the "spit in my face and snarl at me" bit... I don't know what it is, but there was a VERY good reason for it. Just trust me.
There are interviews with the writers of Arcane where they talk about how Caitlyn is a character who rarely shares her emotions in words, but instead shows them with her actions. And in the same way, in this episode she doesn't apologize with words, she apologizes with her actions. She shows her deep regret not by promising to be better… but by just BEING BETTER, and not expecting or even asking for forgiveness or anything in return She chose before to try and protect Vander and that commune of peaceful Zaunites over maintaining her alliance with Ambessa, someone who was sketchy but a powerful ally that promised Cait justice and safety for her city and until that point had delivered. While Vander was a broken man who could do basically nothing for her, who would in fact make getting her revenge on Jinx harder, but had a good heart and had just been treated terribly by the world and turned into something he never really wanted to be… (sort of like Zaun itself maybe??) Then she chooses to stand in a room with Sevika, who literally tried to murder her a couple episodes ago, and lets her walk out not in handcuffs even though she doesn't have to And she chooses not only to wait for Vi to make the decision with her of what to do with Jinx, she even secretly HELPS Vi free Jinx when that's what she chooses to do. Like Ambessa said, Cait has found the strength she never could when it came to her own nemesis, “to forgive and trust in tomorrow.” To not repeat the mistakes of the past and instead very decisively change her behavior for the better. To let go of the hate and anger that pushed her to make those bad decisions and hurt both Zaun and Vi, and from now on choose love and care and sympathy And even though she doesn't ask for it, by doing so she gets Vi's forgiveness, because Vi knows her and understands exactly what is happening even without the words
Yeah I learnt that, as I went through the show. Cait isn't good with her words, really up until the talk with Ambessa, in the office. She fumbles alot! But her actions speak 1000X louder!
Doesn’t she also give up her family’s seat on the council so that Sevika can represent the under city on it as well? Also •SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE• She literally fights Ambessa with a dagger in her stomach and loses an eye while helping to save the world.
A detail I noticed recently: When Cait pulls away to tell Vi about Maddie she actually moves out of the light they've been in and is completely in shadow, until Vi says she doesn't care and pulls her back into the light again
This is absolutely the best reaction I've ever seen on this episode. You are THE ONLY ONE that give them (and that scene) "justice". I'm not kidding, it was really amazing to see someone actually react like me. Bless this episode and bless you! The scene is gorgeous, tender, extremely sexy and state of the art animated. I don't know what else to say other than thank you for sharing this with us.
"state of the art animated" it's completely insane. there's a bit where cait is clawing at her back and the tattoo on vi's skin deforms slightly as it's pulled. that's an insanely detailed rig for a split second shot. what a labor of love and testament to skill by fortiche
@@aljmayr4826 Yeah I've got no idea how they did that 'skin pull' same things happen when something brushes Vi's cheek, her VI tattoo moves, it's mental!
Ambessa: “The core Noxian principle is that everyone is equal on the battlefield.” Also Ambessa: “I’m going to make a magically-empowered unkillable army so that we’re superior to everyone else on the battlefield.”
I absolutely love that you shared your full reaction to the Caitvi scene. It felt so realistic because I also had to watch it repeatedly before moving on. Just pausing to sit and process, or rewinding again and again. I will never get over that scene!!
Another great detail about *that* scene is after Cait tells Vi that she saw someone while they were separated is how terrified Cait looks while waiting for Vi to respond. When Vi says "Cait" you can see her eyebrows raise up, poor girl is terrified this fact is gonna cause Vi to leave her. EDIT: Also I don't think Cait knew what was going to happen between Vi and Jinx, she made her choice knowing that there was a chance that Vi and Jinx would just leave and she would never see Vi again, but still made that choice, for Vi.
@@ClaudieTV You’re as innocent as we all were in the first few days after Act 3 dropped, until one fan pointed it out and everyone lost their minds. We all thought they were hugging. 🤣
Yes, I could watch the entirety of the King’s Speech in two hours….but Claudie is reacting to a show I’ve already seen. My hands are tied is what I’m saying.
Unrelated, but every time anybody mentions The King's Speech now, I immediately think about the fact that it was directed by the same filmmaker who made "Cats."
The fact that they always caress each other cheeks as their love language and Caitlyn only touching Vi's back until she confesses "i saw someone". The second she hears Vi say "Cait, i don't fucking care" does she raise her hands to Vi's face and then they both smile at each other?!!! Ahhhhhh. God i love them so much
I don't think there was a single person on this planet that was expecting them to go this far with the scene :D There were people in denial that cait vi was even a thing in more than subtext.
I should note that I meant to say they were in denial before the onscreen kiss happened. Not until the scene this episode in particular 😅. Still no idea though, short of the characters looking into the camera and saying directly to the audience "i am attracted to this other character", I don't know what they would have needed to do before.
The jail cell was certainly an… interesting choice of location for this scene lol, but in a way weirdly fitting for the two of them?? But honestly I really like the fact that Vi just impulsively jumps Caitlyn because she's so overcome with emotion in that moment She was at her lowest right before, having just lost Vander AGAIN and now believing that she made the wrong decision in trusting Jinx and because of it has probably lost both her sister and Cait too. But Caitlyn, in just a few words, tells Vi that she hasn't lost her, that in fact she thinks Vi made the right choice. And maybe the two of them just need to trust in Jinx and it'll pay off this time Also, she admits to actually helping Vi get Jinx out, so even if it does turn out to be the wrong decision, they made it together. The blame, the responsibility, isn't all on her for once. They share it equally, and Vi can finally take some of that weight she's been carrying alone for near on a decade and share it with a partner Plus, by freeing Jinx from a cell, Cait reminds Vi of how she freed her from one when they first met. Making her realize that despite all that's happened and changed since then, deep down Cait is still that same person who will take a risk and give a second chance to someone she has every reason to distrust or even despise. She's still the same person Vi fell in love with
'I really like the fact that Vi just impulsively jumps Caitlyn' - me too! I'm glad we finally got to see that, she was always so hesitant, well, they both were, but to see her finally reveal that was awesome haha
In a way, the cell brings things full circle, as Vi and Caitlyn first met in a prison cell (although this time it is probably a former basement under the council building).
And if you stop to think about it, what Caitlyn did there was extremely romantic. She showed Vi in the best way possible that between the desire for revenge and the love she feels for Vi, she chooses to love. She knew that Vi would go after Jinx, so she opened the way for her to do what she thought was best. She let her escape, giving up on revenge. The look on Vi's face when she realized this and the kiss.. and everything, my heart can't take it ❤ Your reaction was great as it always is!! I also watched it several times and when it got to the part with Mel and Ambessa my head was still in that scene lol
This is my first time watching a reaction from you, but I'll have to rewatch the other episodes and season 1 because you're great lol. Between the stopping and telling us to shut up and looking around at nothing, just a great, genuine reactor. Thoroughly enjoyed the video and the episode again!
I was laughing the whole way through *that* scene. I dont know why its so satisfying to watch someone else go through it for the first time lol Also to your edit about Cait's line. Its even a bit more than that. Amanda said in an interview that in Cait's mind, there was a very good chance that Vi would leave with Jinx and she'd never see her again. She wasn't just giving Vi the choice to save Jinx, but was potentially giving up Vi in that moment because she loves her and trusts her to make the right decision.
@ClaudieTV I think she would have. Only because at that point she didn't know Cait had sent all the guards away to help her. She thought she had gone behind her back and even says as much to Cait. She even says because of her decision she's lost everyone... fully expecting Cait to be angry with her. As you know... you would expect if you just released your girlfriend's mom's killer behind her back lol so... thank you Jinx for locking her in there? Anyway really looking forward to the final episode! Sad that its gonna be over for you but at least you can finally binge all the fanart and stuff!
the Cait and Jinx parallels continue with both *breaking the cycle*. Jinx does it by escaping (and leaving VI) and Caitlyn does it by effectively letting Jinx go by reassigning the guard. episode 9 here we come... btw "i'm tired of people not being in love with each other" - well there's always *that* scene... should be good enough.
I just binged all your videos and it was an absolute blast rewatching the entirety of Arcane with you! Love your sense of humour 😂 But also the way you analyse each scene so thoroughly and pick up on so many small details. This episode in particular hits different for obvious reasons. It’s been living rent free in my head ever since I first saw it. I just find it amazing how the writers can pack *that* scene with so many storytelling and character development details in the middle of everything else that’s going down (yeah I said what I said). Best of luck to you and your channel, and happy holidays for now. I’ll for sure be sticking around, excited for all the extra Arcane content!
@ClaudieTV not only that, there is an indentation in the pillows next to her that implies someone had slept there, and also someone washed the oil slick out of Vi's hair.
@@ClaudieTV You expressed curiosity about exploring Caitlyn's office. I believe the spiral staircase we see leads to the bed she shared with Maddie. It's attached to her military quarters.
Whatever your partner of preference, fumbling with uncooperative clasps on clothing and sharing a giggle is an experience that likely unites us all. The one detail I adore most is that when Cait removes her own top, she intentionally takes a step backwards, just to give Vi a better look. Say what you will about Caitlyn, she's pretty confident about the quality of her 'cupcakes' - hey, you called them that first Claudie. 🤭🤣
The Caitvi scene make me f*cking cry cause I remember how was Vi at the begining of the episode 5 from season 2. It's so beautiful & emotional to see Vi recieve tenderness & sexual love; she finally know happiness since longtime😭😭🥰 And the symbolic is strong : in a prison, same place where they met. Caitlyn save Vi
If you don't understand what would Caitlyn say, what I understand is she send a big numbers of guardians out of the jail. She decided to give a chance to Jinx, to let Vi chose what she want to do about Jinx; let her go, let her in prison. I don't think she totally forgive Jinx but she understand and choose to break the circle of the hate. She finally understand that If Jinx become a criminal it's not juste her fault but Piltover's governement to ! Maybe Jinx have blood on her hands but Caitlyn understand she, like Piltovers people are not innocent in this big tragedy T_T Caitlyn realised her love feelings are stronger than her hate. (I'm french, if my english is incorrect, well, sorry ;D)
“Look at Vi’s back” (while she was pacing in the first Cait/Vi scene) and “I just wanna see someone in love!” both made me smile knowing what was happening later 😊
@@ClaudieTV You were so fearful they were giving you a Cait/Vi fight in the cell your powers were momentarily interrupted when they went in a different direction. Cait (then Vi) threw you upside down in that moment.
Everyone usually talks about the sesbian lex this epsiode, and I get it, it's amazing, but I love Vi's verbal jabs also. "The self serving warpig oinked poison in your ear" I think it's such a fun line.
I agree with you claudie... the prison scene.. Vi was so cute... I don't think we ever seen her so out of her character portraying a bad ass throughout the 2 season. She was so open and innocent there... the writer did a really great job😂😂😂
Btw cait kept jinx in a bunker and not jail. Bunker is a plave to keep safe important people, documentd and artifacts. Cait is not that mean by keeping jinx in stillwater.
It's so funny to see both you and Elijah completely freak out over "the" scene, but in your own unique way. This is why I watch reaction videos! ❤ Gotta rewind, for "science" and for the "art". 😇
Cause in that moment, Vi was like, "oh, I thought we were just gonna kiss no?", and Caitlyn's like "no, no no no, we're going to do more than that". hahaha
I love your reactions! The cait/vi scene is one of the best wlw moments I’ve seen in a show tbh. Thanks for spending the extra time appreciating it! These scenes are often rushed or feel exploitative (or aren’t included at all) and my gay ass was so happy for these characters. I think the only time they smile/laugh this whole season is when they’re together. 😭
Pretty much. There is so much pain and tragedy they both suffer though and they finally get a moment for themselves. It drives me crazy that there are some who don't think this scene was necessary when Cait and Vi's relationship has been building since season 1. There is a TON of investment fans have for this couple and their happiness.
I don’t want to see people talking bad about Caitlyn ever again. That woman literally forgave Jinx for her own good and bcz she wanted to see the love of her life make her own choice. A lot of “fans” see Caitlyn as “the girlfriend” who has to be always emotional available but she her own person and she has her own story. Imagina is the sibling of your boyfriend/girlfriend murdered your mom, someone who you love deeply. I’d move the earth and sky just to bring justice to my family. People don’t get that Vi and Caitlyn are soulmates, that’s why Caitlyn put all her hate behind bcz Vi made her go back to her senses, to the values they share. Caitlyn forgiving Jinx and giving Vi the choice to be happy with her was the biggest sacrifice. She thought she was never going to see Vi again.
I don't think she can forgive Jinx. I think she's so tired of hating her for what happened. She's choosing to let her hatred for Jinx go because her love for Vi is stronger than the hatred she has for Jinx.
50:30 Jinx was not trying to swallow the gemstone, because it wasn't real. When she "spits it out", it never lands back in her hand, even tho she moves her hand a bit, pretending to catch it, her palm is empty.
@@ClaudieTV Yeah, all three gemstones they had was in the gun, Isha overloaded it to blow it up. Even if Jinx would have one on her, I assume it would have been taken away when she was arrested, especially since she surrendered, she'd have given up the gemstone herself.
Thanks for adding the note about not confusing actors with their roles. Emotionally investing in characters is great; forming extreme parasocial relationships with their actors, whether of the stalking fan or the threatening hater variety, is not.
@@ClaudieTVyeah thank you for speaking up against what is happening to actors and voice actors who plays the villian. I remember how people were terrible to drako malfoy in the past. It was terrible. And joffrey in GoT. They are just actors. Why are people confused about that?
when Jinx asks Vi if she will never give up on her, I think it's also a realization from Jinx that Vi will never be able to put herself before Jinx. In fact, she then tells her that she needs to stop feeling guilty about being happy, that she needs to enjoy the happiness that Caitlyn can give her and that Vi will never be able to achieve as long as Jinx is in her life
Alright, stuff I loved about THAT scene: - Your reaction in general 😊 - 1:11:58 Cait goes „yea I know I’m hot, you like?“ queen 👸 - 1:12:53 that shot of Vi‘s back… that slow reveal still has me saying out loud „holy shit her fkn back“ that physique.. 😅 - 1:15:16 The giggle. So cute. So real. - 1:15:58 Like you said, cait is tall af, still Vi is literally shielding her from our gaze with that GODDAMN BACK - 1:17:11 obligatory „the undercity is gonna eat you alive“ This was all I needed, you saved my day. Thanks ❤
During the scene where Jayce gives the speech about the coming war, he refers to Zaun as Undercity then it immediatly cuts to Zavika looking p*ssed which I think is a big reason why she left as it shows there's still a lack of respects & recognition towards Zaun. Also the women who was in the alternate reality was also in episode 4, she was the one who put her hand on Jinx's shoulder in the prison.
Great video, love your reactions! Btw I also didn't get the line about the guards at the Hexgates initially and then when Caitlyn said "Vi I saw someone" my dumb ass thought she meant she saw someone walking somewhere outside of the jail, like an enemy or something 🤣🤣
I think you found the pacing to be okay because you watched it at your own pace, 90 minutes lol, rewinding, rewatching scenes, taking long pauses.. Then it's fine indeed! When you watch it all at once, it's an insane roller coaster and it fries your brain. That's not OK, I think. Thanks for this super delicious entertaining reaction video! :) And you are not alone: I had to look up on reddit the "You really think I needed all the guards at the Hexgate" thingy as I was watching the episode.
@ClaudieTV He's such a well written character. I'm glad we got little snippets of him in S2. I think a mini series/movie about his and Vanders fallout would be AMAZING.
I really never write a comment, but chick! I was screaming with laughter at your reactions and comments. I.broke! Almost fell off my couch....thanx for this...but really: thanx
Remember that Claudie who could just sat calmly reacting everything and analyzing every details. Yep, no turning back now. Who needs a candy cane if we have arcane.😂😂😂
I've been watching your reactions all day today, I'm not even kidding, had a free day and I have no regrets, I literally coouldn't stop watching! Caitvi scene...holy shit! I couldn't stop smiling watching your reaction, seriously you're so meeee and a lot of us! It was fantastic, f**cking fantastic!!! ♥ gonna finish this journey with you and i'm not ready!
On another reaction i saw in the comments someone said that the council usually happens during the day and that day they made an emergency meeting because Caitlyn and Vi was about to tell them what they found in the undercity. Jinx only wanted to blow up the building because its significant enough but she couldnt have known that they are there, it was an emergency. So Jinx really did tell the truth, she didnt know they were there.
32:13 I think you missed a point here, caitlyn said "our", she's holding herself accountable for the things she's done as well, implying that she intends to make amends too or something along that line, its was a thoughtful detail in this conversation
Cait realise that in order for her to forgive herself, she needs to forgive jinx too. She now understand how the vengence mindset can cause so much destruction. Glad she took the path of healing and choose love over hate
Your reaction is adorable 🥰 can’t unfortunately hit all likes it the world it deserves. I guess most of us reacted the same way pausing and rewatching this scene many times. I’m surprised the petition to full scene release didn’t hit 100 thousand signatures yet thou
I can't how adorable you trying to figure out what "Do you think i needed all the guards to the Hexgate" again and again. Pure scientist's work, the big brainstorming
1:32:18 Idk but this transition is so funny to me. From future you (being more level-headed, articulate, focused and already figured out that single line of Caitlyn) to present you (panicking, can't concentrate, forgetting that there's an actual main plot and that Ambessa is Mel's mom) while still talking about Vi's back tattoo. It's like seeing Powder from eps 7 to seeing Jinx in eps 9 lol
About to start watching the video and immediately saw the length of it, and I get it.I myself had to pause and pace around the room to get through this episode
I don't know about the other birds, but from what I understand, crows can sometimes be a symbol of change or transformation. Death, in a metaphorical sense. IIRC most of the scenes they appeared in during season 1 were scenes where Jinx was grappling with her identity between Jinx and Powder. One shows up when she has her breakdown in the arcade, then again in the scene where she reunites with Vi. And then when she shoots Silco and cements herself as Jinx rather than Powder in her own mind, the camera cuts to a shot of crows flying away, as if the transformation is complete. I'm not sure we've seen any scenes with Jinx and crows since then. We do get this one with Mel, though!
Omg thank you for explaining the part about the needing all the guards at the hexgates because I was SOOO confused as to why that was like the OK for them to start smashing....I was like what does that even MEAN?!
***Claudie, avoid reading this comment if you haven’t watched the finale yet - because mild spoilers ahead*** YT also won't let me add everything in one comment. So I will add the remainder as reply to this same comment. This episode led to SO MANY arguments and discourse within the fandom. So things I've said in this comment absolutely need to be addressed before the same tired arguments blaming the writers for CaitVi and/or the "sesbian lex" scene flood in. Just in case. It’s frustrating to watch headcanons being treated as gospel while the actual plot is ignored and then writers get unfairly criticized. I'm also using quotes from Amanda’s Gizmodo interview as support. 1) “Jinx is suicidal, how could Vi be so selfish and just leave her? Why didn’t she go after her?” Did Vi know Jinx was planning to end her own life? No! I don’t understand how people are missing this. When Jinx says she’s going to “break the cycle”, Vi interprets it as Jinx stepping away from the cycle of violence and finding a place where her existence won’t cause any more problems. Because Jinx in her mind believes there’s no “good” version of herself that will lead to anything positive. This is why Vi tells Cait, “I really believed she'd help" and nothing else about Jinx. She just thought Jinx escaped. And by the time Cait arrives, some time has already passed, Vi has had time to process and believes Jinx is long gone. She also assumes she’s already lost Cait because she believes she betrayed her trust by going behind her back to free Jinx (though little did she know!). Vi’s entire life has been defined by her inability to let go of those she loves. She’s a protector who loves deeply, and that quality somehow brings her misery over and over. Losing Isha made Jinx realize that she has to be the one to let go, because Vi never will. She explicitly says to Vi, "You’re never going to give up on me, are you?". And the last thing Jinx says to Vi is that she doesn’t have to feel guilty about choosing happiness, happiness with Cait. This is the first time Vi chooses what makes her happy, yet people label her selfish? Did we watch the same show? If the creators hadn’t shown you in Episode 9, a big part of these people probably wouldn’t have even actually believed she was going to off herself. People are using this argument just for the sake of it. As the audience, we saw her trying, but Vi didn’t. It’s ridiculous to think Vi would be with Cait if she knew Jinx was planning to end her life. 2) “Where is the apology?” Writers were definitely right to do it through actions rather than words. Because there are no words that'll make being a dictator and striking the person you love while saying that they're just like their murderous criminal sister okay. There's no verbal apology that fixes that. But letting go of the hate you hold for the person that murdered your mother and tortured you, putting her life in the hands of the person you love and trust the most, knowing that she's probably going to leave with Jinx so you won't see her again, thinking she'll never forgive you and that you don't deserve it? That's so f*ing romantic and way more powerful than any verbal apology. And you can still see how regretful and guilty Cait was with the way she looked at Vi and gently touched her wound during sex scene. Amanda: "Actions are far more powerful than words. So we always knew that Caitlyn’s apology to Vi would take place in the way she was able to forgive Jinx. She had Jinx in custody. She could have gotten the justice that she always wanted. Instead, she chooses Vi. In letting Vi escape and have the key, there’s a world where Vi and Jinx disappear, and she never sees either of them again. So she very selflessly gave up anything she wanted at that moment to try and take an action that would be doing the right thing-that would be atoning for those mistakes. Like she says, you can never take back the mistakes. You can only try to make up for them. And so, I think that “I know” is her acknowledging to everyone that “I made mistakes, and I can’t take them back, but I can certainly take action to try and fix that”. And in the end, she gives her eye. She’s willing to die and give her eye to try again, to try and keep making up for those mistakes." Considering Cait's whole arc in Act 2 and 3, She betrayed Ambessa to help Vi. She let Jinx go. She led the battle against Ambessa in the finale. She kept fighting even after getting stabbed, lost an eye and nearly died. She gave up her seat on the council to Sevika so that Zaun could be represented. Does it fix everything? No. Systems of oppression aren't fixed with a handful of well-intentioned actions. But Cait DID feel remorse and DID make attempts to reverse her wrongdoings. People who aren't satisfied - did you want Cait to change, or did you just want her to be punished? Because, LET'S TALK ABOUT IT! Most have no problem with the rest but Cait! - Jayce? His focus on Piltover’s prosperity came at the expense of Zaun’s suffering, neglecting their issues until it became a threat. They never gave the benefits of Hextech to the undercity. They built Hexgate failsafe underground, ensuring that any damage would hit the Undercity (IDK how Viktor was onboard with all this!). And in S1 Jayce’s inexperience and impulsiveness led him to take military action against Zaun, escalating tensions further. - Viktor was supporting Jayce in S1, and again, never helped his own Undercity with Hextech. In S2 he was trying to "cleanse" the world. - Jinx? Bombed Piltover twice, her paranoia and trauma led her to kill and harm people including Silco, and her actions often had no strategic purpose. And she did whatever Silco wanted her to and more. - Silco? He manipulated Jinx, exploited her trauma, and fed her paranoia to turn her into a weapon for his own ambitions. He allowed the Shimmer epidemic to ravage Zaun, profiting off its spread while the Undercity suffered. He betrayed countless people to secure his own power, orchestrated violence that deepened the divide between Piltover and Zaun, and ensured that Jinx’s instability only grew worse under his influence. - Sevika? She had a major role in enforcing Silco’s rule, violently suppressing dissent in Zaun and ensuring Silco’s rise to power and helped spread Shimmer. - Heimerdinger? Despite being on the council for centuries, he did nothing to address the suffering and inequality in Zaun. His focus remained solely on Piltover’s progress (Yet Ekko welcomed him with no questions? he was pissed at Cait in S1 just because she was a "Piltie" though?). How do you ignore all of that and just say Cait deserves all the blame and that she’s the only one who should "apologize"?
3) “A jail cell?” Yes, the jail cell! It’s a perfect callback/parallel to their first meeting creating a full-circle moment. Even the starting shots are same. In 1x8, Oil and Water, they parted ways. In 2x8, they become a couple. To Vi, jail cell is a space that once symbolized confinement and trauma but now represents freedom, trust and love because of Cait. For Cait, it’s the place where her world started changing, the place she met Vi, which opened her eyes to the facade of the privileged world she had grown up in and helped her understand the harsh realities of the real one, all while falling in love with Vi, someone from the opposite side. Amanda: "Honestly, the first time that was pitched to me-it wasn’t my original idea-I was like, “Really, the jail cell?” Whenever you strongly react to something, I think that’s an indication that you need to lean into it and explore. That’s what storytelling is: having strong emotional reactions to something and then figuring out why. And I was like, “Oh, well, this could be a way for Vi to reclaim that space for herself and use that to work through some of her past trauma or to reframe things that had been negative in her life to something positive”. I was like, “We’re gonna have to work really hard, you guys, to make this the right place for this moment”. I think with the lighting, the framing, and the way that the directors orchestrated everything felt beautiful." "There have to be dramatic twists and turns that happen in that action that reveals something about the characters, from how playful they are, how vulnerable they are, and the way they look at each other. Every single moment of that, you had to learn something new about their relationship. It says a lot about the action of the apology, the action of Cait having regret for having hit Vi at the end of episode three. All of that is in there. That’s why I’m really proud of how much that scene says about them, the climax of their arcs, and the forgiveness that they’re both willing to have for each other in that moment. To me, that the most important thing to do." "When we got to see her tattoo for the first time-everyone wanted to see her whole tattoo- I was like, “Well, that’s gonna happen in that scene”. The way we reveal that got to be really beautiful and special for both of them-Cait’s reaction to seeing Vi's tattoo [and] Cait’s reaction to everything in that moment. Everybody worked really hard to make that location work and I think everyone has a visceral reaction to that. That’s what you want as a writer. You want your audience to feel something visceral when they see something. So I was really proud of the team for making that work." Also, why not Cait's bedroom? Maybe they did go, after all, the original scene was longer and parts of it were cut. But even if they didn't, practicality, Cait’s mansion is likely under guard due to ongoing attack/defensive planning, and Maddie is still lurking around. The jail cell is in a BUNKER too, it's not like Stillwater. It offered them much needed privacy away from everyone (luckily it became a two birds with one stone situation - thanks Cait), and they let go of everything else in that moment and were having sex just for pure joy of each other. For them, it was also essentially the end of the world, so they might not have much time left together and they had a brief escape into happiness, away from all the chaos surrounding them. 4) "It's too long" No, it’s not. The sex scene itself was a little over 1 minute. Besides, CaitVi have been the OTP in Arcane from the beginning, as intended by the showrunners Christian and Alex. The points I’ve made above explain why the scene is the way it is, and it’s not out of nowhere. It’s perfectly timed and stays true to the characters and the overall story. Their tension has been building for a long time, and the stress of Vi’s feeling like she’s messed everything up and lost everyone she loves, along with the relief she feels when she realizes Caitlyn freed Jinx and still loves her, are major emotional drivers for the scene. Personally I don't think they were going to wait to get to the mansion or even the elevator before they start up. For those who think the scene felt stiff, I believe it’s because parts of it were cut, which disrupted the natural flow of the scene. Amanda: "Our guiding light was that this was the culmination of love and a romantic relationship in our series, so it had to be better than that Jayce and Mel sex scene. It had to show more. It had to bring to life everything that these characters were and had done." So all in all, I don’t think the criticism this episode is getting has anything to do with bad writing, it’s more about some people’s inability to understand and comprehend what’s happening. Yes, I would’ve loved if they had more time to develop the story and let characters have some "conversations". They could’ve also spent less time on the AU, or adding another Act or season would’ve been great. But it’s still NOT BAD WRITING! They did the best they could with the limited time they had. Writers shouldn’t have to spell everything out on screen, it’s not their problem if you can’t see beyond the surface level!
@@ud2278 The past few years, 90% of the time(hyperbole) when people complain about bad writing, it's good writing. It's either they believe their bad fanfic is better, or they're functionally illiterate. It's like a harlequin romance reader claiming Austen is a bad writer. Or a rockem sockem paperback reader thinking Joyce doesn't know what he's doing.

@@ClaudieTV Well, Amanda and some of the voice talent actually do stuff with reaction channels and content creators.
The videos I’m aware of are on NotSoAverageFangirls Channel if you are interested. Amanda is very open in her support of queer themes, I mean she wrote this episode 😅
Maybe there’s a chance in the future to make a video with them ;)
@@Kenobeno I know it i saw her take on the scene shes a fan of her own creation 😂
If there's anyone who doesn't agree with this? You're wrong.
@@stephenasmithfanfan5971 + she told vi where's jinx location - and vi surprised

@@Kittyfantastico I agree, I love the interaction.
@@Kittyfantastico HAHAHA that was so hilarious 🤣 i couldn’t stop laughing honestly
Truly love your points ❤ well said
Your reaction to THAT scene was absolutely perfect i was smiling the whole time and the way you went over it so many times was the most real thing ever i felt like it was my first time watching as well I LOVE IT SO MUCH! this made my day!

Oh she was 😂😂
"Caitlyn, be gentle..."
😂
Yeah, she um... well... they wasn't in the end were they 🤣 Went better than I thought it would 🤣
I also died at that comment
She shows her deep regret not by promising to be better… but by just BEING BETTER, and not expecting or even asking for forgiveness or anything in return
She chose before to try and protect Vander and that commune of peaceful Zaunites over maintaining her alliance with Ambessa, someone who was sketchy but a powerful ally that promised Cait justice and safety for her city and until that point had delivered. While Vander was a broken man who could do basically nothing for her, who would in fact make getting her revenge on Jinx harder, but had a good heart and had just been treated terribly by the world and turned into something he never really wanted to be… (sort of like Zaun itself maybe??)
Then she chooses to stand in a room with Sevika, who literally tried to murder her a couple episodes ago, and lets her walk out not in handcuffs even though she doesn't have to
And she chooses not only to wait for Vi to make the decision with her of what to do with Jinx, she even secretly HELPS Vi free Jinx when that's what she chooses to do. Like Ambessa said, Cait has found the strength she never could when it came to her own nemesis, “to forgive and trust in tomorrow.” To not repeat the mistakes of the past and instead very decisively change her behavior for the better. To let go of the hate and anger that pushed her to make those bad decisions and hurt both Zaun and Vi, and from now on choose love and care and sympathy
And even though she doesn't ask for it, by doing so she gets Vi's forgiveness, because Vi knows her and understands exactly what is happening even without the words
Also •SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE•
She literally fights Ambessa with a dagger in her stomach and loses an eye while helping to save the world.
A detail I noticed recently:
When Cait pulls away to tell Vi about Maddie she actually moves out of the light they've been in and is completely in shadow, until Vi says she doesn't care and pulls her back into the light again

Oh god that is true, good catch! She doesn't really touch her face until after she mentions Maddie. That's a really great point!

There were people in denial that cait vi was even a thing in more than subtext.
How can they even be in denial? 🤣🤣🤣
@@ClaudieTV maybe they watched the chinese edit where Vi and Cait are never shown closer than around 18 inches
I should note that I meant to say they were in denial before the onscreen kiss happened. Not until the scene this episode in particular 😅. Still no idea though, short of the characters looking into the camera and saying directly to the audience "i am attracted to this other character", I don't know what they would have needed to do before.
The hyperfocusing on that one scene with Caitlyn and Vi CRACKED me up. It's the way you're paying attention to EV ER Y TH I NG! LOL!
That was the shortened tame version of Caitlyn and Vi. I still rewatch that scene at least a few times a day.
Might be joining you 🤣
The jail cell was certainly an… interesting choice of location for this scene lol, but in a way weirdly fitting for the two of them?? But honestly I really like the fact that Vi just impulsively jumps Caitlyn because she's so overcome with emotion in that moment
She was at her lowest right before, having just lost Vander AGAIN and now believing that she made the wrong decision in trusting Jinx and because of it has probably lost both her sister and Cait too. But Caitlyn, in just a few words, tells Vi that she hasn't lost her, that in fact she thinks Vi made the right choice. And maybe the two of them just need to trust in Jinx and it'll pay off this time
Also, she admits to actually helping Vi get Jinx out, so even if it does turn out to be the wrong decision, they made it together. The blame, the responsibility, isn't all on her for once. They share it equally, and Vi can finally take some of that weight she's been carrying alone for near on a decade and share it with a partner
Plus, by freeing Jinx from a cell, Cait reminds Vi of how she freed her from one when they first met.
@mullwormthis time is a bunker
Omg over 30 minutes of just that scene 😂😂 we were all right there with u the first time. Had me dying laughing tho
It is very romantic yes, I it has intimacy that is sometimes lost in intimate scenes

Also to your edit about Cait's line.
Ah gotcha, hadn't processed the concept of Vi leaving completely, I don't know if she would have tbh but in Cait's mind she could have yeah

Ah damn, good point yeah maybe she imagined it
@@ClaudieTV Yeah, all three gemstones they had was in the gun, Isha overloaded it to blow it up. Even if Jinx would have one on her, I assume it would have been taken away when she was arrested, especially since she surrendered, she'd have given up the gemstone herself.
Episode 8 may not be the finally but it was certainly the climax
Dear god, you lot 🤣🤣🤣
@@ClaudieTV 😇
For the first time probably ever, Vi put herself first. And I'm not surprised that you spent so long rewatching it. I love those goobers.
Very true! I love those goobers too 🤣
Thanks for adding the note about not confusing actors with their roles. Emotionally investing in characters is great; forming extreme parasocial relationships with their actors, whether of the stalking fan or the threatening hater variety, is not.
Had to say something, when I found out the VA behind Maddie was getting hate. Don't tolerate that sort of slander round here ☺️
@@ClaudieTVyeah thank you for speaking up against what is happening to actors and voice actors who plays the villian. I remember how people were terrible to drako malfoy in the past. It was terrible. And joffrey in GoT. They are just actors. Why are people confused about that?
Omg I love your reactions!! ❤
Aw thank you so much!
when Jinx asks Vi if she will never give up on her, I think it's also a realization from Jinx that Vi will never be able to put herself before Jinx. In fact, she then tells her that she needs to stop feeling guilty about being happy, that she needs to enjoy the happiness that Caitlyn can give her and that Vi will never be able to achieve as long as Jinx is in her life
Yeah, I read that line more as a more exasperated "you'll never effing quit, will you" rather than thankful.
Exactly what I was waiting for haha
So if Caitlyn is the cupcake does that make vi the cherry on “top”?
Nah that is a good one 🤣
"Just a phew phew with the hair, Caitlyn you filthy lil ughh" 😂😂😂😂😂 Same girl, same
🤣
Alright, stuff I loved about THAT scene:
- Your reaction in general 😊
- 1:11:58 Cait goes „yea I know I’m hot, you like?“ queen 👸
- 1:12:53 that shot of Vi‘s back… that slow reveal still has me saying out loud „holy shit her fkn back“ that physique.. 😅
- 1:15:16 The giggle. So cute. So real.
- 1:15:58 Like you said, cait is tall af, still Vi is literally shielding her from our gaze with that GODDAMN BACK
- 1:17:11 obligatory „the undercity is gonna eat you alive“
This was all I needed, you saved my day. Thanks ❤
Thank you for the time stamps 🤣 Very helpful list 👌
1:05:54 "What’s gonna happen here?"
me:"Oh, you have a big storm coming"
Oh yes I did 😂😂
This scene is perfection. If they ever do release the extended cut we’re all in trouble. 😂
Well that tip toe is because of Caitlyn and her knee😏
I havent finished your reaction😂, am loving this so much ahahhaha
It does make sense when you see that Caitlyn also raises just one foot instead of both, and said foot just happens to be the one between Vi's feet.
@Kalaida exactly, and Vi's reaction
So damn cute aint it 🤣🤣🤣
@@Kalaida why would Caitlyn do the knee thing and then _immediately_ step back to take off her top?
During the scene where Jayce gives the speech about the coming war, he refers to Zaun as Undercity then it immediatly cuts to Zavika looking p*ssed which I think is a big reason why she left as it shows there's still a lack of respects & recognition towards Zaun. Also the women who was in the alternate reality was also in episode 4, she was the one who put her hand on Jinx's shoulder in the prison.
Ah gotcha yes, very well could have been
The name of the "love interest" of AU Milo is *Gert*, btw.😉
@mullworm Thank you, I wonder if it's short for Gertrude.
1:17:35 Vi had already promised Caitlyn in S01E05 that the Undercity was going to eat her alive.
🤣🤣🤣
Great video, love your reactions! Btw I also didn't get the line about the guards at the Hexgates initially and then when Caitlyn said "Vi I saw someone" my dumb ass thought she meant she saw someone walking somewhere outside of the jail, like an enemy or something 🤣🤣
🤣 don't blame yourself, we were all very distracted haha
hahah same happened to me! 😄
Yeah damn good point 🤣 I got it eventually thank god, was way too focussed on other things haha! Glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Even in death, Silco drops the hardest lines.
He actually is so cool though ain't he 🤣
@ClaudieTV He's such a well written character. I'm glad we got little snippets of him in S2. I think a mini series/movie about his and Vanders fallout would be AMAZING.
those aren't his words though, those were Jinx's. Silco doesn't talk like that.

Yeah... shes gone now 🤣 She's never coming back!
Ah thank you, I'm so glad you're enjoying the vids :)
@@ClaudieTV Oh sooo much I'm actually rewatching it again lol
On another reaction i saw in the comments someone said that the council usually happens during the day and that day they made an emergency meeting because Caitlyn and Vi was about to tell them what they found in the undercity. Jinx only wanted to blow up the building because its significant enough but she couldnt have known that they are there, it was an emergency. So Jinx really did tell the truth, she didnt know they were there.
The Line is probably my fav soundtrack this season, beautifully haunting
32:13 I think you missed a point here, caitlyn said "our", she's holding herself accountable for the things she's done as well, implying that she intends to make amends too or something along that line, its was a thoughtful detail in this conversation
Good catch
Cait realise that in order for her to forgive herself, she needs to forgive jinx too. She now understand how the vengence mindset can cause so much destruction. Glad she took the path of healing and choose love over hate
I was completely expecting THIS episode to have longest reaction lololol
😂
Your reaction is adorable 🥰 can’t unfortunately hit all likes it the world it deserves. I guess most of us reacted the same way pausing and rewatching this scene many times. I’m surprised the petition to full scene release didn’t hit 100 thousand signatures yet thou
Thank you so much, I'm glad you've enjoyed it 🥰
I can't how adorable you trying to figure out what "Do you think i needed all the guards to the Hexgate" again and again. Pure scientist's work, the big brainstorming
1:32:18
Idk but this transition is so funny to me.
😂😂 that's a good correlation tbf
Your voice is so pleasant to listen to. Such a great reaction too!
Ah thank you so much! That's very sweet 🥰
About to start watching the video and immediately saw the length of it, and I get it.I myself had to pause and pace around the room to get through this episode
i love how you kept rewinding over and over on the sesbian lex scene lol😭
Someone has to 😉
I don't know about the other birds, but from what I understand, crows can sometimes be a symbol of change or transformation.
😂😂 no worries, took me a bit of time lol
1 hour 45 minutes? LETS FN GOOOOO!
***Claudie, avoid reading this comment if you haven’t watched the finale yet - because mild spoilers ahead***
YT also won't let me add everything in one comment.
Why didn’t she go after her?”
Did Vi know Jinx was planning to end her own life?
2) “Where is the apology?”
Writers were definitely right to do it through actions rather than words.
Amanda:
"Actions are far more powerful than words.
She’s willing to die and give her eye to try again, to try and keep making up for those mistakes."
Considering Cait's whole arc in Act 2 and 3, She betrayed Ambessa to help Vi.
3) “A jail cell?”
Yes, the jail cell!
Amanda:
"Honestly, the first time that was pitched to me-it wasn’t my original idea-I was like, “Really, the jail cell?” Whenever you strongly react to something, I think that’s an indication that you need to lean into it and explore. I think with the lighting, the framing, and the way that the directors orchestrated everything felt beautiful."
"There have to be dramatic twists and turns that happen in that action that reveals something about the characters, from how playful they are, how vulnerable they are, and the way they look at each other. To me, that the most important thing to do."
"When we got to see her tattoo for the first time-everyone wanted to see her whole tattoo- I was like, “Well, that’s gonna happen in that scene”. So I was really proud of the team for making that work."
Also, why not Cait's bedroom?
4) "It's too long"
No, it’s not.
Amanda:
"Our guiding light was that this was the culmination of love and a romantic relationship in our series, so it had to be better than that Jayce and Mel sex scene. It had to show more. It had to bring to life everything that these characters were and had done."
So all in all, I don’t think the criticism this episode is getting has anything to do with bad writing, it’s more about some people’s inability to understand and comprehend what’s happening.
@@ud2278
The past few years, 90% of the time(hyperbole) when people complain about bad writing, it's good writing. It's either they believe their bad fanfic is better, or they're functionally illiterate. It's like a harlequin romance reader claiming Austen is a bad writer. Or a rockem sockem paperback reader thinking Joyce doesn't know what he's doing.
