  • This HUD allows you to more easily keep an eye on your speed and also easily flick between MPH and KPH travelling around Europe. I didn't want to spend a lot, it was just a test really, but this product is great and far surpasses my expectations.

    Thanks for your help John. I bought and fitted the identical unit. So easy and it has changed my life, no more peering into the dashboard. Plus my wheels are small and the speedo out of calibration so I used the French speed warnings to set the correct speed and tested the accuracy throughout Europe. Brilliant.

    That looks a good bit of kit. I have a self built Peugeot Boxer camper and can agree with you about the speedo display being difficult to read, especially in kph. I did 3000 miles around Europe last summer between two F1 races. Great trip, but I did fall foul of a couple of speed cameras. So I think I'll be investing in one of these. Thanks for the review,

    Only just found this vid, would have been ideal for my current French/Spanish tour. The dials on the Ducato really are bad, I use the speed readout on my Garmin Sat Nav as I just cannot see the kmph reading, it’s tiny. Anyway it’s in my Amazon basket for when we get home in a couple of weeks! Thanks John.

    That’s the First thing I noticed when I test drive a Ducato - how am expected to the see the instruments
    HUD is a great addition 👍
    Thanks John
    Another issue is the seat height
    With the swivel base the Ducato seats sit too high for tall people.
    I’m 6ft 4” and had to duck down to see through the windscreen 🙁
    The first mod when my van arrives is to somehow lower the drivers seat base
    May there’s a lower one available 🤔

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I struggle too, bang my head getting in and out and the ignition key touches my knee.

    • @tornado1005
      @tornado1005 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep they do em John 👍
      Lowers the seat 40mm so in effect compensating for the addition of the swivel
      Expensive though at £145
      Not sure if the handbrake lever will be in the way after though - will it stop the seat swiveling ?
      Seem to remember it was placed in a silly place and catching legs getting in and out 😂
      Can’t have it perfect
      But all these little mods help 👍👍

    Hi John, you slipped in the word "connect the power". Is that separate to the data plug thing? It's so hard to read km in mine I just use the trip feature all the time; ridiculous.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the confusion, it’s just the one cable for power and the data for the display. So just as easy as shown in the video to setup.

    • @ianmay4368
      @ianmay4368 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I followed the link to buy it but the reviews mention connecting to cigarette lighter socket. So for clarity, there's one data plug which picks up the power for the unit? Also one person said it was slow to respond, did you find this too? Thanks for great videos, looking forward to your travels but hope you don't buy land in Portugal and start doing whaky vids about toilets and stuff.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the review that mentions cig socket is from someone who fitted it wrong, it wouldn't get the data about revs or oil temp etc unless it was plugged into the OBD port. You can see very clearly on my video how I fitted it, that's the only way you are supposed to fit it.

  • @andrewchesney
    @andrewchesney 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Great video, just to be aware that since 2001 (I think it was 2001) most speedos are over-rated by 10% so if your speedo shows 77mph, you actual MPH is 70 - this make a big difference on very long journeys. Great product and reasonable price too.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it’s considered that speedos are allowed to be 10% out but 99% of speedos these days are quite accurate.

    Hi John just going over old videos during this lockdown period on this hub your display is showing a double image which I believe is because of the laminated windscreen can you get a hud that won't show double image !

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since all windscreens are laminated the only way to avoid this is to project onto something else, like a bit of Perspex, but then you still might get a feint image on the windscreen. To be honest it’s not a problem as it is, it works great and after many thousands of miles the hud is really easy to read.
