I had the original, sold it used after 2500km and it showed no signs of quitting! Even rode it in the salty Canadian winters here in Ontario! Was planning to buy the Apollo City Pro at the end of the summer (pro just because I wanted the longer range) but this does everything I wanted out of a Ninebot Max Successor and replacement for me. Just pre-ordered this one through your link. Thanks for everything you guys do in supporting and educating the electric micro-mobility community!
I love mine! I took it out on a record hot Lincoln, Ne 105 F day. I went 26.6 miles from a full charge riding in sport mode. I only weigh 140 pounds and my scooter did not overheat and managed to stay at least 20 mph until the very end of the ride. When I got back home I had only 7% battery left. Overall I was very impressed and yes this is a great joyriding vehicle!😊
I own the original Ninebot Max and now own the much more luxurious Segway P100. I've also owned an Apollo Phantom scooter, which I sold soon after buying it. Of the 3 scooters I've owned it's the Ninebot Max I love the most. The riding position is so comfortable. Just about every upgrade in this Segway’s MAX G2 scooter is exactly what I would want as an upgrade to my original MAX scooter. Slightly larger deck, suspension, higher top speed, I get 30KPH (18.6MPH) on my MAX an extra 5KPH on the MAX G2 would be nice. The extra 100W would be nice for hill climbing. I like the wider handlebars and the indicators also, but I would think that your arm would get in the way, therefore block the indicator lights for drivers from behind you. On my P100 the indicators flash 5 times before turning off automatically, it doesn't appear that the MAX G2 has this option. I find my P100 scooter goes too fast and I can't resist hitting top speeds, 48KPH (30MPH), I would not want to have an accident at that speed, but 35KPH (22MPH) seems a lot more ideal top speed for fun versus safety option. I look forward to at least trying this scooter.
Thanks for commenting! You're the first person I've heard from who has a P100. It seems like a mini-GT1, including the self cancelling signals. Sounds like we both got the same top speeds on our G30's. You have 18.6 mph and we measured 18.4 which is within our two margins of errors. For my height, my elbows are well out of the way of the MAX G2 turn signals. We tried to show that in the video, but didn't quite get the shots I wanted (I wish we would have shot straight on view from the front and back, ideally in traffic). -Paul
It was overdue for sure! But I think they spent extra time on it because they knew they had to get it exactly right! Good to see you. I hope you're feeling better! -Paul
I bought a Ninebot Max in October 2022. I do live upstairs and I also store my Max under my cubicle desk while at work. So not happy with the weight and size gain, but as a scooter it looks so much better with suspension and bit more speed. If it has the same solid, steady, safe feel my Ninebot has it should be a winner, also I work in product certification so seeing the UL rating on the battery and charger is nice peace of mind when charging.
Ooh! Good point! I need to start looking for UL and reporting on that! This is why I love hanging out in the comments section! Thanks for letting us know what you like/don’t like and how you’re using your scooter. All of it helps me write better reviews. -Paul
ummm being a female, you should literally grovel to every single male you ever come across ,as they are the ones who provide you with the world you live in in every way shape and form that you take for granted and complain about. without them, you'd still be living in a mud hut without electricity worrying if ur gonna even survive everyday. stop complaining.
The smart peak-limiting charging for while in storage sold me. That paired with the FindMy feature and new suspension it's a win. Shame about the added weight but that's how compromises work.
The charging thing was one of the biggest surprises. Though, it feels like something scooters should have had since the beginning! I love seeing new features show up for the first time and knowing that a year from now a ton of other scooters will have them too! -Paul
I think a few other segway models have the charge limit feature as well. My E45 has it as well. My E45 will charge to the set percentage, then beep and stop charging. After a while it'll start charging again, then it'll beep again. Does the G2 do this as well? Its super annoying with my E45
It makes sense they would add it across the board where the scooters are capable of it. Was it part of your E45 from the beginning or did it just show up in the app one day? I haven't noticed any excess beeping from this one, but we've only put a few charge cycles on it and it's been a crazy couple weeks, so I could have missed it. -Paul
I'll check it out on our E22 and the G30 and G30LP! Very curious to see if we have new features. I'm guessing that our old G30's BMS might not support it, but we'll see! Thanks so much for the heads-up! -Paul
The G2 Max pushed it over the top for me. Pair it with the 5a charger and all of a sudden this scooter becomes a whole different beast. It gives you a similar experience of EV's but in PEV form. I own a Vsett 8 w/ 4a charger but even that's not comparable due to the fact that 30mins charge gives you more on the Max. Range on both is the same (27mi). All things considered, the Max G2 actually edges out the Vsett 8.
Thanks for the review Paul! I think the G2 would be good for a certain type of commuter. The lack of folding handlebars and being over 50lbs I think makes it much more difficult for mixed mode commuting. It is much harder to deal with on a train, bus or tight storage situations. I take Caltrain to work when I have to go into the office. I get to watch a wide variety of scooters coming and going from the train. All the handlebar non-folders have problems when the train gets tight and they can't just use another seat to hold their scooter. The handlebar folders can get their scooter small enough to be less cumbersome and can even stow it in the overhead storage area spaces. Brompton bicycles are great for this as well as I watch them on the train and those are amazingly compact. As an experiment I also brought my Mosquito on the train and it was super easy to keep near me without having to take up another seat. I still would prefer to bring my electric unicycle but wanted to see how the Mosquito was in real-world commute scenarios. The G2 would be a pain the ass for that use case along with a variety of other mixed-mode commutes. If I am going into the 50+ pound scooter world I would much rather a dual-motor power scooter so I could take advantage of being in the street when possible. Ironically I find it more dangerous to be in bike lanes vs. being in the street and keeping up with traffic. When I was still a primary e-scooter rider having my Dualtrons and Mantis scooters in the street help me avoid all the people blocking bike lanes in addition to being door swiped. There is also just a lot more debris in bike lanes that are rarely in the main street. I think I would rather spend a little extra and either get the new Emove Cruiser or spend a little bit more than that and get a dual motor scooter.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I was thinking about what the ideal use case for the G2 is and strangely enough it is the scooter-sharing companies. They don't need to worry about being compact for mixed mode commutes and want to keep the speed low enough to help avoid serious injuries from tourists that really don't have the experience or protective gear to ride quickly.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Try putting 2-3 G2s in the back of your car vs 2-3 Mosquitos or Inokim Lights. I don't think it would be possible without losing your back seats. I have also been in the predicament and made it very clear to me why you need folding handlebars for the "personal" aspect of a PEV.
The difference is striking. My car has a narrow trunk, so I had to fold down a seat to get this in. We were going to mention that, but then tried it in Mitchell's trunk and it fit fine, and his is more typical. That said, I've piled 4 or 5 Unagi scooters in the back of my car, and Mosquitos are similar in that you can pile up a fleet of them! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I would think through all the scenarios you plan on doing with your scooter and if there is a good likelihood you will need to to lift or store consistently you should be thinking of an ultra portable. The G2 takes up the same amount of floor space as most of the mid-tier dual motors. The G2 has all the same disadvantages of a big dual motor so really think if you want a tweener in terms of size and performance. If you are going to go that big then might as well go all the way. I also wouldn't add weight to the scooter by always having the charger weight included with your scooter. If range is the big calling card for the scooter why move the weight burden into the scooter vs something you can keep at home and lose 3-5lbs from the weight of the scooter.
Thanks so much for all the previous reviews you've done that have made me a well informed scooter buyer. I purchased this the day it came out on Indiegogo and am stoked for the June delivery. This review just sealed the deal that I made a great choice for my very first escooter. Keep up the good work!
@@willbearheart7919 delivery was late as it got stuck in various ports, but it's been rock solid since. Kinda glad it tops out at 35kph as it feels like that's a good beginner speed
Absolutely love the improvements, and the very reasonable price. I think Segway/Ninebot has set a new high bar for mid-range / entry level commuter scooters. Outstanding and very informative review.
I like my Apollo Ghost but I can respect Segway for making a pretty solid looking scooter. Suspension actually being good is nice to see. My Ghost uses springs which is kinda sad. Too noisy when the bolt hits the frame after compressing.
I just bought my first electric scooter recently. Always thought I would get a Segway, but ended up getting a Fluid Horizon v2 and couldn't be happier.
*_I just use my Segway Ninebot Max G30 regularly and only connect it to the official mobile app once in a blue moon. Thank you so much to this video that I tried connecting it again and found the zero start and it works! This is something small but big in the real world. Cheers!_* *And, yes, I would still love to have this G2.*
Wow! Thank you so much for letting me know! I haven't tried our G30 with the updated app. I really should have done that! We helped each other out! -Paul
I loved my Ninebot Max G30. It had great range, but because it lacked suspension, I had to get rid of it. The roads here are very bumpy at times, and I got seriously bored having to be constantly alert not to drive over bumps and small holes. It actually was dangerous to ride at times, and often I had to drop speed to 15km/h because the ride was so rough. But this G2 seems to improve things. Very interested about this. But why cannot they add some kind of hole or loop to attach locks better? Some scooters have those, and it makes locking much more easier. Great video. Enjoyed watching it :)
I mean you would probably want to be careful even with good suspension. These things aren't like vehicles where the body has so much mass that they don't have time to really drop, and their mass allows them inertia to keep going forward at the lip of a pothole. But a person on a scooter is just asking to wipe out by going over any bad road. It's not a question of if, but when. Just the right geometry for your wheel to get caught and you're going to have a bad day, even with knee pads and a helmet.
I crashed my old ninebot max and ended up fracturing my skull. Please wear helmets while riding 🙏 with that being said i think I'm ready to buy a new scooter and ride again
Wow! So sorry to hear about your injury. Glad you’re feeling better! We definitely agree with you about wearing helmets! Off camera I’m wearing a full face motorcycle helmet most of the time. -Paul
I am a heavy rider at 250lbs and 6'4", have to say the G2 works great in my area with lots of hills. Some of the streets are too steep, but there are lots that I can make it up, although be it at the 10-12km speed. We are weekend warriors who just want the scooter for fun, at this price point the limitation on tackling all hills is great for us. Note we first tried the D38U and while it was amazing on flat roads, it had no power to tackle even a small incline at out weight. We were doubtful the G2 would work and were worried we were looking at $2000+CAD price. My only complaint would be the poor warranty, battery, throttle and breaks are only 180 days. Costco carried them in Canada and that may be the best place to purchase if you have issues, easy return.
@@papijaddy2963 Zero maintenance on the G30 other than having to air the tires up a little after a couple years. I’ll be honest it’s probably due for a battery because it’s definitely runs out of juice a little faster and slower acceleration than it used to be. My Emove cruiser on the other hand required a stupendous amount of maintenance in comparison lol
I had the first generation G30LE while living in Florida. Last year I moved to Portugal so I sold it, and this morning found an incredible sale online here in Portugal ( 719 Euros shipping included) for the MAX G2E and could not resist . I'm receiving it tomorrow, thanks for the video, amazing
Thank you so much! As a former mechanic of both my own race bike (roadracing) and vintage European racecars (including one powered by a Ferrari 250 motor) taking stuff apart in videos is one of my favorite things to do when time allows! -Paul
I owned the original, build quality was excellent. Lack of suspension was a let down. And changing the tire was beyond bad. I understand they have puncture-resistant tires, but I still got a flat. And changing it was madness. The amount of screws and cables you have to remove just to take the tire off is mind blowing. And getting the new one on beyond tested my patients. I understand most people ride there thousands of miles and never get a flat blah blah blah. Maybe I got unlucky but I got 1 after about 200 miles, and the self healing didn't heal it. This looks like the same scooter so I'd have nightmares the tire-changing process will be the same here. 22mph is a good step up from the 18 of the G30 Max. And outside of getting unlucky with the flats I think the G30's pretty fantastic. Segway and Ninebot really know how to build quality scooters.
The self healing tires definitely aren't 100% effective. We tested it on the Wolf King GT and found that while at first it appeared to work perfectly even with punctures longer than 1 inch, the re-seal wasn't complete. So it would help you get home, but still leaves you with an annoying slow leak when the nail is longer than an inch or so. I think if I were commuting a lot, I'd keep a spare around, but you're right about there being a lot of fasteners. It should be the same in the front now, but I don't know if it's better or worse at the rear of the scooter now that it has suspension. -Paul
Personally, I prefer pneumatic with tube...but with puncture tape between tire and tube + SLIME for the inner tube. These additions, coupled with correct tire pressure...has helped me completely avoid frequent tire changes. With enough distance travelled, any tire requires replacement. DO NOT forget to heat the tire in hot boiled water for 10 the 15 minutes, just before install. Have on hand the dishsoap (lubricant) and a few tire mounting tools to do the job. For the rear of my M365 pro, I installed a shock/spring dampening kit coupled with a DOUBLE honeycomb SOLID 10 inch tire (which uses the factory rim)...this has made my ride very smooth and with the solid tire...no more rear flats!
This has about everything I'm looking for in a 40~60 lbs scooter. Would like it to be 5~10 lbs lighter and a better dash(as was mentioned), but other than that, everything seems great. Was thinking I would have to settle for a Fluid Horizon or similar to get the range and speed I'm looking for... But the features here just blow everything else away (if the price holds to around $1000) AND you get the range and speed. Segway brand + App + Zero Start + Turn Signals + Traction Control + Front and Rear Suspension AND Tubeless Air Tires + Smart Battery Charging.... Seems one can't go wrong here.
I really thought the price would end up at $1,200 seeing all of the stuff it comes with, so if they actually keep it below $1,100 they are going to sell piles of these! -Paul
I swear this scooter is the best scooter I rode it in the rain and the back tire was flat I rode it for 8months like that until the motor broke and I installed a new one and it still worked
The new valve stems make it easier to get air into the tires too. It was a little too much detail for the review. I wish it was even longer though, because some pumps still need an extension to get air into the tire. -Paul
Paul, this is just a wonderful review. Thank you for going into such great detail and comparisons to the original, your enthusiasm made me even more excited to grab one! And a special thank you for the side view of different sized rider, that was super helpful. Terrific work!
I just sell my old G30 and ordered new G2. So many improvements and worth of every penny! Suspension is biggest difference and will make ride 10 times comfortable.
Yeah, this scooter really surprised us. I thought we were going to get something very similar to the G65 in Australia (no signals), and thought the suspension would be more like the ES4 (not good), but the front suspension is not like the ES4 at all and really works well on the G2. The app features were a big surprise too. I thought this was going to be an easy review to write, but then kept finding more and more and more things to write about.... which is why its sooooo long :-) -Paul
Still a Big Fan of the M365 Pro, with some relatively cheap and available modifications: 1) dual shock fork suspension for about $50, delivered; 2) rear shock system kit for about $50, delivered; 3) 10 inch dual honeycomb solid tire for the rear ($22 for this tire, which uses the factory stock rim)...also, the larger rear tire levels the deck due to the front fork suspension raising the front of the scooter; 4) shim ($5) for the rear fender to accommodate the solid 10" tire; 5) V3 controller ($30) with stronger traces and mosfets, to handle more amps; 6) SLIME and puncture tape for the front pneumatic tube and tire, resp. All together, about $160 in upgrades that substantially improve performance. Custom firmware freely available to increase max speed (and torque) up to 35kmph (22mph). I initially did mods 1, 5, and 6.
I’m torn. The suspension of course, but probably the turn signals are number 2. I wonder if they’ll bring out a smaller version like they did with the G30LP?
Hi Paul! Amazing in-depth review as always. I still love and commute with with my G30max to work everyday, but is just lacking that extra speed when you needed it the most, with zero suspensions, I feel every slight vibrations in my bones. I really think is time for and upgrade, but I need your expertise. Am stuck between the Segway P100se and the new Max G2? I know you haven’t yet reviewed the P100se yet. But what do is your intake? Thanks and keep up the good work
This for sure is nice and a big step up in a sense from the Max G30P, but for the pricepoint the Max G30P is getting cheaper and cheaper to find, sometimes making it a better buy if your obsessed with saving money. Just bought a Max G30P.
It's still better than lifting a whole mountain bike three flights of stairs and it has the rear wheel suspension that the iron- Air doesn't have yet( You use lift- Heel suspension, instead :-)
I am going to get one on my birthday, I was thinking of getting an f65, but this g2 sounds better, thanks ( from australia ) for informing everyone about the details! P.S you looked like you didn't really want to drop it a 8:38 lol
I would say that this is more of a sport version of the G30P. They could make another version that is a copy-paste of the G30 but with the upgrades the G2 has. Because for some people, the added weight is cumbersome.
It will be interesting to see how their product line changes following the introduction of the MAX G2, and whether there will be more versions. I honestly don't know what's next from the G series. -Paul
That Find My feature is a huge added bonus. Im new to your channel as i got my first scooter before looking for reviews but still, thank you for these reviews.
Yes of course. I already did. Some of these scooters are not available in my country, but i still find the content and reviews entertaining and informational to watch. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more reviews in the future!
Awesome! Thank you so much! Since we added Mitchell to the team recently we'll be covering a lot more scooters this year. Hopefully many which are available where you live! -Paul
I ride the Max g30 15km round trip every day include 2 big stiff hills throughout the year, and this is an area where it rains a lot, and I leave it on the company wall, and it is a big advantage that there is no problem even if it rains all day. The downside is that if the wind blows even a little, the speed is not good and it is difficult to climb the hill. My heart is now set on the Apollo City Pro for my new escooter
I like my new Apollo Air 2022 and i have the new handlebar upgrade with turn signals ordered. It goes 22mph as well and has managed to go up every hill around me so far though it does struggle slowly up the biggest. Weighing only 125lbs i should get around 50 mile real world range estimated from my lower range rides and battery life. Being only 5'1" tall i like the 40inch handle bar height as well on it. I really only use the regen brakes unless need stop faster. Being light it is very easy shuffle around in the elevators here.
Thanks Paul I've been looking into scooter for a minute and have my eyes on the G2 and hearing your breakdown of I'm sold the comfortable ride and I don't need to go to fast and the range it has is just right thanks
Great review! I'm happy with my NIU KQi3 Max, but the Segway MAX G2 design was well thought out. Not needing to carry a charging brick is very convenient. I wish it was a little bit faster (25 MPH), but the MAX G2 is a good compromise for most riders.
I have a KQI3 Pro and very happy with it so far. Got it like new for $360 online but this G2 is looking fine! I'm looking to hack my Pro to run the "Max" software for speed. To relocate "APPLE FIND" I installed a gps tag. How do you like your Max? Anything cool you can share?
I love the new upgraded specs on the G2 except for 1 thing…..it’s 10lbs heavier! 😬 I have the G30P w/Max seat, & that’s 47lbs….so the G2 w/a Max seat would be 57lbs. 😬😬 Folding it up taking it on a train/bus/car trunk etc…like I’ve done is going to be a hassle @ nearly 60lbs. Assuming that the Max seat can still fit on it, since the deck is newly designed. I still love what they’ve done to it tho! 🥰 Suspension ✅ 0 start ✅ Wider handlebars ✅ Turn signals x horn ✅ Traction Control ✅ Weight 🚫
I think they're going to need new seat for this one. My understanding is that the old seat won't fit because the new deck is 1/2 inch wider (that part we have verified). -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide After rewatching the vid, a few more good points: Adjusting the rear suspension using the “Allen key” instead of your fingers. ✅ No one showed that prior to this video, good stuff. There’s a warning label too “pinch.” The folding stem no longer has that “ring closure.” ✅ I just hope they make that Max G2 Seat quickly bc after a year they still haven’t made a P or GT series seat kit! That’s why I sending my GT2 back. Dualtron > Kaabo(voro motors) > Vsett(alien rides) all have seat kits for their “super scooters!” ✌🏾
Thank you so much! This is such an important scooter I made sure to spend a ton of time on it to be as accurate as possible. Comments like these mean everything to us! Thank you! -Paul
So happy to hear the suspension is good. My daughter rides an E45 and it's very clunky, sometimes I wish it had no suspension. G2 looks like a fabulous unit.
This scooter has been available in Australia for nearly 9 months, lol at the crowdfunding campaign. Also why did we get it so early? We never get stuff early? Am I an upside-down guinea pig for Segway?
It definitely surprised me when I saw the G65 showing up in videos there so early. It's also interesting that they make such a subtle variation in the scooter: no signals, different power specs and different top speeds. -Paul
Nice review Paul. Even though I already bought the Apollo Air 2022 (thanks to your recommendation in another video, by the way) I still would like to see a comparison review with this Segway. Seems like a good upgrade from the previous one for sure.
Thank you Carlos! I don't think we'll do a head-to-head, so here'a a quick take on the two. The Air was the best handling scooter in this category and possibly best ride quality, but now it's got competition. The Air's front end is about as smooth, and even though the rear of the Air doesn't have suspension it's a surprisingly smooth ride over all. Other things I love about the Air are that it's super super easy to pick up and toss in the trunk. The bars are a little wide, but weight wise: I'm surprised every time I lift it, by how light it is. It also out stops the G2. I love the regen-only brake and it's the main brake I use, other than emergency stops. The new G2, on the other hand is quicker, has longer range and has a lot of new features to get excited over. Both are great scooters. I'd say the main dividing lines are range and weight, and then the Air leans slightly more towards comfort and the G2 surprisingly leans more sporty. -Paul
can you please make a xiaomi mi electric scooter 4 ultra review and compare it to the segway? its really hard to decide between those 2 based off the on paper specs
Given Xiaomi's habit of disappearing from the US market, I'd go with the MAX. I'd be nervous about Xiaomi until they show a commitment to hanging around in the USA. The m365 was available, then not available, and supported under warranty, and then not supported. Good scooters, but support feels inconsistent so far. That could change though! -Paul
Paul, after watching this review I have so many regrets. I just bought a P65 ten days ago and I am enjoying it so far but I wanna be able to experience a very smooth ride with the help of suspension. Plus the P series don't have much accessories available here in the US.
Echoing some other comments I think folding handlebars are missing here! Scooters are great to store with folding handlebars as they can go tight up against walls without protrusions. Not everybody has lots of room. Still believe rear turn signals are useful also. Other than that what a great update and great to see the suspension is good quality! Be great to see how this stacks up against the new xiaomi pro 4 ultra!
I like the idea of folding bars, but it seems like they always wiggle or come loose somehow. I'm still waiting for the perfect folding handlebars. The signals should be really visible from in front or behind. We didn't show that as well as I had hoped in the video. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Paul check out the folding handlebars and turn signals on the pure advance and pure advance flex from pure electric. They have a good folding handlebar mechanism patent pending, alas no suspension on their scooters but apparently breaking into US market soon! I’m really torn between the max g2, xiaomi ultra, and the pure advance as my choice for a commuter/general purpose scooter!
Thanks for the heads up! I haven't seen those bars yet. I'll have a look. Exciting to hear they may be finally coming to the US. They've been pretty agressive on water-resistance, so it would be great to see them pushing everyone on upping their water resistance. -Paul
Thanks for your comprehensive review! G2 Max looks great-but the only thing that holds me back is the stem angle. I've found that only a few degrees in stem slope can make a big difference in how stable and comfortable a scooter is, especially at higher speeds. If you compare this Segway's stem angle with, for example, that of a Niu KQi3 Max, you'll see the Niu's 75° stem is noticeably less vertical, allowing better, more natural control. I'm sure you've ridden both and noticed the difference, but I'm surprised you don't mention it very often.
I'll vouch for a more vertical stem. It leaves a bit more room in the cockpit so it's far more comfortable for folks a bit thicker in the front. Plus most of the time you should be steering with your feet rather than the handlebars anyway. I have the unagi Voyager and it has a bit more of an angle though not as intense as the kqi line, plus the Voyager's stem wiggles a bit. Frankly it's less comfortable leaning back while breaking in a more angled stem than it is on a vertical one I find. Plus angled stems don't allow as much room to lean forward for acceleration uphill. I personally find more flaws in an angled stem. The room needed to lean is too important and while yes the center of gravity shifts to stay closer to the middle of the deck and prevents noobies from doing a front flip I'd rather take the extra space and control. Plus for those of us who had an escooter 15 years ago it was all vertical stems and wide handlebars with a finger trigger rather than thumb throttle or twist throttle. I learned to ride that way. These are my excuses anyway
I was looking to buy the Max G30 with a seat until a friend told me about the G2. I really like the upgraded Max G2. Does the seat from the Max G30 fit on the new Max G2?
It doesn't fit. The G2 deck is 1/2 wider in our measurements. I don't know for sure, but I expect that they will make one. They should make it taller too, to match the taller bars. -Paul
Normally I'd agree with you, because higher voltage is usually higher efficiency, but somehow they've squeezed a ton of efficiency out of this scooter in terms of miles per watt hour. -Paul
Gets. This video is a great piece if content. I lived the review! It well thought, footage is on place, speaker is great, break down is on point and covers all the aspects of the device. Big THANK YOU 🙏🏻
I am about to get my very first scooeter in a few months, and I have landed on the Max G2 for my introduction, I am using it mostly for commuting, as I relly on public transport to get around and this will extend the range a great deal.
I am seriously considering getting two of these for the wife and I. My only question as someone getting into scooters for the first time. What is a practical method for locking these outside if we ever want to zip around the city and stop somewhere for a meal. Are there specific lasso-style locks for these? I worry someone can just grab them and go if they aren't "chained" to something when parked. Thanks for the very informative video, you damn near sold me on it :)
Looks to be an exciting scooter and im glad the original got a healthy upgrade. I just had one concern. I know you mentioned it but the tires are basically puncture proof correct?
I’d say more puncture resistant than puncture proof. If you get a very long nail in the tire it will go all the way through the coating and sometimes not seal completely when removed and sometimes result in a slow leak once removed. -Paul
Quick question! Does the Find My feature act as an airtag when it comes to theft(Someone steals your scooter) minus the notification of someone following/stalking you with an airtag (If the thief has an Iphone)?
It sure seems like it. I believe it works much the same way (pinging off of nearby iphones). I was even able to monitor the scooters rough state of charge "your battery is low" and it would ping me when I left work every day to let me know "hey, you left your scooter behind". Neat stuff! -Paul
Please compare this to the NIU Kqi3 Max in terms of power, build quality, and ride quality. To my eyes, it looks like the NIU is a little better with some nice quality touches. But the Ninebot max G2 does have suspension and some new features. What say you?
I'm around 179cm 101kg/222 lbs naked. I've been riding ninebot max wearing clothes (phones, wallet etc.), carrying water bottle, battery charger, some tools, locks in a ninebot front bag, for 2+ years. I get around 30km (S mode around 22km/h average flat+uphill+downhill). D mode cannot carry me uphill. E mode can barely carry me 10km/h on flat roads. Folded it fits very snugly in the back of Tesla. I'd say the lack of suspension is a minor concern for me (my knees are still working okay as suspension). Range is not 65km obviously, but given I'm easily pushing past the payload capacity, I'm not complaining about it. The big complain I have is, my feet don't fit comfortably on the deck. Its so bad that after riding for 30 min or so, I get pain in my feet. I feel my feet, especially rear foot falls asleep, as part of it is half way out of the deck. Front foot is also out of the deck but it's less stressed in riding position, so it goes longer without pain. Even in that 30 min, I have to keep stretching my feet while riding. From the looks of it, while G2 added suspension, it didn't improve range that much, kept almost the same deck and made it worse to fit in the back of Tesla sedan. I was able to comfortably ride the Lime scooters, so I'd say the issue is not my body, rather the deck area, where I can't find a comfortable placement for my feet. In conclusion, while ninebot max allows me to go for a quick fun joyride (getting fresh air) and occasional last mile coverage in the city and country when using public transport, it appears the max g2 is not a fit enough upgrade for me. Before anyone suggests, I don't think electric scooters (of any kind) are worth more than a grand. I'll be getting an ebike soon, for my actual (hopefully pleasant) non-car commute.
I once did a ~65km trek on the ninebot max. I rode it approximately 45 km (never on S, mostly on D, last 5km on E), while walked it (all the uphill and then some) the rest of approximately 20km. It took me around 7 hours. I was limping for the next 2 weeks (due to the feet issues described above). Also, the last 5km ride on the ninebot max, is pretty shabby experience as the battery power output is sad, iirc I was getting it to move on E only on flat going around 5km/hour. So, to be fair, the ninebot max is a beast of a commuting scooter and I think max g2 is definitely a nice upgrade (if it kept the same build quality as the original). However, a certain level of fitness is needed to enjoy it more (I.e. be around 165 lbs while carrying everything else😂). Lastly, the regen works amazingly well on ninebot max. All the internet content around regen on electric scooters and ebikes suggest, it won't replenish too much energy or work so well. But at least for ninebot max, gets me through hilly rides, thanks to downhill recovery.
I understand why the max speed is so slow dmv standard. But to be safe in traffic I would prefer reaching 45m/h myself. Most roads have no bike path. Not a complaint on the scooter itself. Im looking forward to getting a new scooter in a year or 2. New features are sweet.
At this weight and larger handlebars, I think I'd just jump up to a dual motor scooter with a lot more speed. It would likely cost more, but at least you can get out in the street and flow with traffic on something like a Mantis V2 and it's not much more weight or that much larger.
The shaft on the shock looks super beefy. Way thicker than what you usually see on a normal scooter shock. Servicing is a good question. It's definitely buried in there. Even if it fully failed to damp someday, the spring and shaft would still be way better than the spring and hex shaped shaft on the ES4. -Paul
I wonder if the rear fender gonna be easy to break off like the max g30 v1. I can clearly see it made of plastic and its going for the looks, rather than utility.
Picked it up yesterday . I was within the 2 week return period at Best Buy for the neon pro so I returned it and just payed the difference to get it. I may or may not have lied about the neon pro having overheating issues…. just to ensure the return but that’s not important!! The only reason I got it was because of this video very persuadable !!!Have only been able to ride it once but very fast and very comfortable!! Also the app is much better than neon pro neon pro took off the no kickstart function
from first impression its MUCH faster than the neon pro. Paul was right about what he said in the nui max video there is a huge difference betwen 19-20 mph and 22 mph so i have to get use to that.! like it really gets going! havent had any off days from work since i got it so havent really rode it like i want to (tested battery, range). nothing against the neon pro by the way.. besides the terrible app..it was pretty good!and i do still belive it has more range than the g2 so if they rejected my return i would not be dissapointed. but like i said after watching your review i had to try to get the maxg2 and glad i got it!
Got my G2 yesterday, it's a clear winner in its price range on market.... Fine my device support on iphone is AAA+.... no other can compete at this moment. And ensure go get the official speed charger! Additionally, I am extremely surprised the detail handling of the design. Now I wanna even sell my Apollo Phantom V2 (broken stem bolt fxxxxck!) and my old Xiaomi Pro2, and my old Segway ES4. I can live with G2 pretty much with super confidence.
just fyi Im 320 lbs and ive been riding a 30 max for a year now every day in the woods and on roads outside campgrounds as I live full time in an RV. This thing is indestructible.
thanks for the in-depth review! Curious, though. You mentioned that the rattle on the rear fender was "nit-picking". I am the type where I don't consider that 'nit-picking' at all, and _any_ rattle of *any* kind would drive me absolute bonkers. I had to line the rear fender of my G30P with dynamat to get rid of mine after the very first ride, which I cut short due to how insane it drove me, and I refused to ride it before I could get ride of it completely. Is the rattle on the G2 something that cane be completely removed through similar methods? Is there any kind of rattle from anywhere else, no matter how "subtle", or "small"? Thanks in advance!
Just booked my pre order using your link! Thanks so much for this review. This will be my first e scooter and I'm really excited. My new job is only 2 miles away. Why drive when I can scoot?! Lol. Wanted a great quality scooter under that 1k price. Cant wait!
Seen the new rear air suspension kit from Monorim for the Ninebot Max G2? As a fellow ride quality aficionado, would love to see a review & know if the results warrant upgrading! ❤
ooooh! I haven't seen that. Sounds awesome! The rear shocks definitely aren't as good as the front on the MAX G2, so now you've got me really curious. I am a ride quality nut. -Paul
i'm in the U.S., bought my max g2 from best buy in utah and cannot seem to access ultra in "S" mode or even increase my speed from the default 20mph to 22mph. ..what am I doing wrong? your thoughts. -thanks in advance!
Hello! I've just found your review - it's amazing! I'm looking to upgrade my Ninebot Max G30, I'm between the new G2 and Mantis 8 (same price here), also considering Mantis 10Plus - what do you think?
Not that bad. I opened them up and put them back on (both our G30 and G2) to check out the insides for this video. It helps to have compressed air (gas station will do) to get the tire back on the rim when you're done. Some of the 11" tires are nearly impossible, but these were much easier. I've heard that solid tires can be almost impossible too, but haven't ever changed solid tires. -Paul
I've never changed solid tires, so I'm not much help with those. I've only done tubed air-filled tires and tubeless air-filled tires like the ones on the G30 and G2. I use three tire levers and sometimes a pair of channel locks (huge pliers) to break the bead (the initial pinch of the tire that moves inward from the rim, so I can get tire levers under it) -Paul
So since it’s bad keeping the battery at 100 percent for long period of time what you recommend setting it to ? Like 90-95?? Haven’t used that feature yet
Is the battery fully balanced, after it reaches 100%, but you have to wait a few extra minutes until the dashboard shows no more negative watts going into the battery, even though it states 100%? How bad is it to not top balance the pack & unplugging it prematurely?
I have a question. I just got a Segway P65 for 999. Its pretty amazing. What would you recommend the max G2 or the P65? Thank you appreciate your help.
Considering buying the A variant of this (Australian model) but really hope a region unlock will be available. I did unlock my F40A this way and got 30k instead of 25kph.
Amazing review...subscribed. I have the Max G30, 8000 miles on it haha, time to go, battery is almost done and fender and other parts giving up...now I am thinking either this one or the P65, they are only 100 bucks difference. Would you recommend the p65 over this one? Thanks
Great video!…One question, You mentioned it has an “Extra lip”… I currently have a seat on my Maxg30….I wonder if I could put the same seat on this Maxg2 one also (Assuming I get one!).. Thanks for this awesome review!!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideThis new heel heel thing is the only thing that has kept me from buying this max g2…, I have a motorcycle, 2 electric unicycles, a maxg30 a gt2p but my favorite is the max g30. I have put thousands of hours on it and the suspension to put on both front and back and it has made a huge difference… I ordered aftermarket Ulip suspensions for front and back and it was a pain but worth it. Anyway… I am an older guy and after a long days worth of work on my feet I don’t want to be hovering on my feet for another 40 miles…. Very long story short, if I buy the Max G2 can I remove that heel and slide my seat as far back as possible to have better balance ?…
My buddy has the first-generation gmax 30 scooter and the only knock against knock against the scooter is how difficult it is to change the tires. To do both is about a 3-4 hour project.

Just got mine today… friggin awesome!!! Love my Ninebot Max happy to have the new one too I call the regular max cause it has out lived my explore phantom and mantis (yes it’s way slower) but the built quality surpasses the others I need something reliable for my daily NYC commute to work
Ok, I'm super curious what everyone thinks of the new MAX G2! Fire away with questions or comments! -Paul
I have the original, and Iv been looking at the GT2, but now seeing this upgrade to the one I already own, the suspension might just sell me
I had the original, sold it used after 2500km and it showed no signs of quitting!
Awesome! Thank you so much for letting us know! -Paul
i love it one problem i live in sweden and i cannot order it from the website so i dont know how to get it
Hopefully they'll have it fully released there soon. We'll put up links on the RiderGuide site as soon as we have them. -Paul
Overall I was very impressed and yes this is a great joyriding vehicle!😊
the scooter community would NOT be the same without you. your videos are the best :)
Wow thanks so much for the kind words! -Vosk
Agreed! It's what helped me buy my first scooter. Was debating between this and the Apollo Air. Went with this one.
😆
-Paul
I own the GL30, G30 and the P100S. They all have their uses. The P100S is a beast but not so portable as it weighs 72.5 lbs.
Are you from Europe? How did you manage to unlock the top speed on P100s?
The ninebot max is the the scooter every budget commuter manufacturer copied! Nice to see an upgrade to a classic scooter
It was overdue for sure! But I think they spent extra time on it because they knew they had to get it exactly right!
Good to see you. I hope you're feeling better! -Paul
Carefull overheating problem with heavy riders
-Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide it's been there since the start for me. If you updated the firmware on the E22, it might be an option on that as well.
Great insight! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! -Paul
Super insightful! These bars are wiiiiiide!
Thanks so much for commenting. On fast scooters feel more comfortable flowing with traffic too! -Paul
Awesome. You're going to love it! -Paul
How's it holding up?
@@willbearheart7919 delivery was late as it got stuck in various ports, but it's been rock solid since. Kinda glad it tops out at 35kph as it feels like that's a good beginner speed
Absolutely love the improvements, and the very reasonable price.
I think Segway/Ninebot has set a new high bar for mid-range / entry level commuter scooters.
Outstanding and very informative review.
Thank you so much! -Paul
Great scooter! Enjoy! -Paul
*_I just use my Segway Ninebot Max G30 regularly and only connect it to the official mobile app once in a blue moon. Thank you so much to this video that I tried connecting it again and found the zero start and it works! This is something small but big in the real world. Cheers!_*
*And, yes, I would still love to have this G2.*
Thanks so much for the kind words! -Vosk
Yeah a lock loop should be standard for electric scooters.
I crashed my old ninebot max and ended up fracturing my skull. Please wear helmets while riding 🙏 with that being said i think I'm ready to buy a new scooter and ride again

@@howled0 Thanks for asking. I'm doing well now. I was going like 16mph
I have mine pre ordered with Bestbuy for $799.99 plus tax which came out to a total of $875.99 USD not bad for what it can do.
Is that for the max G30?
My wife is still using her Max G30 4 1/2 years later. It has been one of the most solid scooters we’ve owned. I think it has around 1000 miles on it
Awesome!
Any maintenance you guys did to it in 4.5 years?! That’s awesome

-Paul
自愈轮胎不适用于大伤口和侧面
Thanks for the kind words! We really appreciate it. -Vosk
So glad we could help! Thank you for watching and commenting! -Paul
I just sell my old G30 and ordered new G2. So many improvements and worth of every penny! Suspension is biggest difference and will make ride 10 times comfortable.
You’re going to looooove this, coming from the G30! -Paul
Having bought my G30D in november, i sure wish I had known it was coming then. Not that my g30 is bad, but the g2 is offering that more
Yeah, this scooter really surprised us.
Still a Big Fan of the M365 Pro, with some relatively cheap and available modifications:
1) dual shock fork suspension for about $50, delivered;
2) rear shock system kit for about $50, delivered;
3) 10 inch dual honeycomb solid tire for the rear ($22 for this tire, which uses the factory stock rim)...also, the larger rear tire levels the deck due to the front fork suspension raising the front of the scooter;
4) shim ($5) for the rear fender to accommodate the solid 10" tire;
5) V3 controller ($30) with stronger traces and mosfets, to handle more amps;
6) SLIME and puncture tape for the front pneumatic tube and tire, resp.
All together, about $160 in upgrades that substantially improve performance. Custom firmware freely available to increase max speed (and torque) up to 35kmph (22mph). I initially did mods 1, 5, and 6.
Thanks for sharing! Very insightful
This looks so much better than my Ninebot Max G30!
Thanks for the detailed content!
Thanks for commenting Matt! What's your favorite feature! -Paul
I’m torn. The suspension of course, but probably the turn signals are number 2. I wonder if they’ll bring out a smaller version like they did with the G30LP?
I love when Paul says, “…Every scooter should have this front end…Ooh, man, that’s a strong statement…Sorry everybody else…” 😂🤣🤣🤣
Thanks and keep up the good work
Thanks so much for the kind words! -Vosk
Very cool review, also top notch production quality! Can't wait for my Max G2 D (German Model) to arrive later this month hopefully...
Thank you so much! Enjoy your G30D! Solid scooter! -Paul
This for sure is nice and a big step up in a sense from the Max G30P, but for the pricepoint the Max G30P is getting cheaper and cheaper to find, sometimes making it a better buy if your obsessed with saving money. Just bought a Max G30P.
G30P will be a classic
It's still better than lifting a whole mountain bike three flights of stairs and it has the rear wheel suspension that the iron- Air doesn't have yet( You use lift- Heel suspension, instead :-)
Always great to see you Ash! Heel suspension. I like that! -Paul
-Paul
this looks like a absolute commuter banger those rear shocks are sexy, i just bought a dualtron eagle pro but this is def a nice one.
That Find My feature is a huge added bonus. Im new to your channel as i got my first scooter before looking for reviews but still, thank you for these reviews.
Thanks so much! So glad you found us. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. :-) -Paul
Awesome! Enjoy your new ride. -Vosk
The regen brake lever feels so good on the Air! -Paul
Thanks for the kind words! Stay Safe. -Vosk

I think they're going to need new seat for this one. My understanding is that the old seat won't fit because the new deck is 1/2 inch wider (that part we have verified). -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Ah ok, thanks for that info Paul!
Happy to help! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide After rewatching the vid, a few more good points:
Adjusting the rear suspension using the “Allen key” instead of your fingers. ✅
No one showed that prior to this video, good stuff. There’s a warning label too “pinch.”
The folding stem no longer has that “ring closure.” ✅
I just hope they make that Max G2 Seat quickly bc after a year they still haven’t made a P or GT series seat kit! That’s why I sending my GT2 back. Dualtron > Kaabo(voro motors) > Vsett(alien rides) all have seat kits for their “super scooters!” ✌🏾
Very attractive and correct presentation and analytics!

I'm on the your side and support you accordingly, Paul. 😇
Congratulations!
Good suggestion! Noted. -Vosk
The P65 is a great looking scooter though, you get a little more top speed, a disc brake up front and that dashboard is one of the very best! -Paul
You get used to it honestly! -Vosk
-Paul
Outstanding review. Comparison with old model and competition is very informative.
Thank you so much! -Paul
the only downside is the system uses 36 volts, i wish it use 48 volts.
Big THANK YOU 🙏🏻
We have a clone ninebot g30 max original (known as E-wheels E2S V2 MAX) and even after doing 22,000 km+ it still works like a charm!
I am about to get my very first scooeter in a few months, and I have landed on the Max G2 for my introduction, I am using it mostly for commuting, as I relly on public transport to get around and this will extend the range a great deal.
Sounds like a great choice, especially for commuting!
Ideally park them next to where you are eating outside. Locks are good but it’s a short term solution for 15-20 min.
I researched it, and it have a built in apple locator. It means it have a built in gps.
-Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide so I should be solid going over small rocks and minimal off roading on pebbles?
I'd feel totally comfortable doing it. Just make sure your tires are aired up!
Good suggestion! We will take a look!
Very insightful! Thanks for sharing. -Vosk
I understand why the max speed is so slow dmv standard. But to be safe in traffic I would prefer reaching 45m/h myself. Most roads have no bike path. Not a complaint on the scooter itself. Im looking forward to getting a new scooter in a year or 2. New features are sweet.
Thanks for the stopping by! -Vosk
At this weight and larger handlebars, I think I'd just jump up to a dual motor scooter with a lot more speed. It would likely cost more, but at least you can get out in the street and flow with traffic on something like a Mantis V2 and it's not much more weight or that much larger.
It feels like no matter how big you go, it’s always tempting to go even bigger. ;-) -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Very true, but if size and weight are a real concern, you have to draw the line somewhere for your own application!
100% agree. We have an updated search tool on our site now to help people find the scooters that fit into that cut-off. -Paul
Shocks must make the ride more comfortable and steady. Love to try it out.
I wonder how safe that front shock is, also how easy it will be to service it.
It is stronger!
Any preference vs the new Apollo air on ride quality? Torn between the 2
Can’t go wrong with either to be honest!
How do you like the new scooter ?
from first impression its MUCH faster than the neon pro.
Just purchased the G2 ...I researched for a while ..was on the fence... you pull me to the Segway's side ..

Got my G2 yesterday, it's a clear winner in its price range on market.... Fine my device support on iphone is AAA+.... no other can compete at this moment. thanks for the in-depth review!

Hello!
I've just found your review - it's amazing! I'm looking to upgrade my Ninebot Max G30, I'm between the new G2 and Mantis 8 (same price here), also considering Mantis 10Plus - what do you think?
If there is not much hills this Segway is an excellent choice! Check the link in description for the lowest price.
Great review, seems like a solid upgrade over the G30lp.
Thanks so much! I totally agree. It's a much bigger upgrade than we were expecting, especially in the fun-factor. -Paul
how hard is it to change those tires tho? they are eventually going to wear out and you will need to change them
Not that bad.
Drop under 50% for long periods
Is the battery fully balanced, after it reaches 100%, but you have to wait a few extra minutes until the dashboard shows no more negative watts going into the battery, even though it states 100%?
How bad is it to not top balance the pack & unplugging it prematurely?
Should be no issues at all
I have a question. I just got a Segway P65 for 999. Its pretty amazing. What would you recommend the max G2 or the P65? Thank you appreciate your help.
Max G2
If I wasn't into faster 40+mph scooters I would totally get this. I've always loved their built-in charging brick
Yes that’s a very attractive feature! -Vosk
I guess the only thing that I can afford is to watch reviews about e-scooters 😅 Sana all.

One of the most thorough reviews so far! Would the g30 segway seat work on max g2 or the deck is different and does not work?
Not sure about the seat honestly!
Doesn't fit
Amazing review...subscribed. I have the Max G30, 8000 miles on it haha, time to go, battery is almost done and fender and other parts giving up...now I am thinking either this one or the P65, they are only 100 bucks difference. Would you recommend the p65 over this one? Thanks
We have not reviewed the others! Max G2 is a very very solid scooter
Not sure because p65 has no suspension.
How is repairability? Is the rear wheel as difficult to remove as on the G30?
Should be the same on this model!
Great video!…One question, You mentioned it has an “Extra lip”… I currently have a seat on my Maxg30….I wonder if I could put the same seat on this Maxg2 one also (Assuming I get one!).. Thanks for this awesome review!!
Not sure about that one!
Great review, but how does it compare to xiaomis 4 ultra. Does the 42v instead of 32v motor make a difference?
This is an excellent scooter!
My buddy has the first-generation gmax 30 scooter and the only knock against knock against the scooter is how difficult it is to change the tires. To do both is about a 3-4 hour project.
