The Empire Strikes Back was to be filmed on this very same stage in London, but filming of The Shining fell behind schedule, so they had to build a new stage on the same lot from scratch in order to film the Dagobah swamp scenes.
My husband went crazy and tried to kill us. Not that difficult. It’s also not that unbelievable considering that the Overlook has had a documented history of having specifically that happen within its walls before (ie a man going crazy and killing his entire family before taking his own life).
The reason why Danny was able to get out of the maze it’s because he used to play in the maze all time so he knows the layout and he knows how to get out and he knew how to trap jack inside
It's extended string techniques, like hitting the bow of a violin against the bridge or using it in other weird ways to make crackling wood sounds. Penderecki, the composer, was a pioneer of that sort of thing.
What if the Overlook wasn't evil ? think about it . In this clip the Overlook actually helps Danny& Wendy find each other by 'scaring' them to their meeting place outside the maze entrance! What if the Overllook is like Danny, innocent, a victim of circumstance, it was built , and by some freak of nature it 'Shines', just like Danny was born with the 'Shine'. Evil people are attracted to its power. The Overlook just reflects the evil that's been done there.
The Overlook (or rather the demon that took it over) is evil but it is able to mask its evil, e.g. in the on-season when it's full of vacationers no demonic activity happens there. Only in the winter when it gets 1 or 2 guests and can take a victim in secret.

The Empire Strikes Back was to be filmed on this very same stage in London, but filming of The Shining fell behind schedule, so they had to build a new stage on the same lot from scratch in order to film the Dagobah swamp scenes.
1:11 when I was younger her face used to freak the shit outta me
Because you can feel the terror in it or because its skeletal and thing.
Disturbing
If Jack only had an axe or something to chop through the bushes of the maze.
Not easy
I was worried that Danny and Wendy were not going to make it.
It suddenly struck me for just the first time last month : The Endings to The Shining and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are •exactly• the same.
Trapped in the maze, just like the minotaur.
I watched a scene without everything that happened before it and I was caught. I really have to watch that movie.
Best movie ever made.
I love this movie
2:01 DANNY!!!
The ending in the book was more satisfying.
I always wonder how does his wife and kid explain this to the cops?
Husband catches cabin fever and attempts to go on murderous rampage
My husband went crazy and tried to kill us.
Not that difficult.
It’s also not that unbelievable considering that the Overlook has had a documented history of having specifically that happen within its walls before (ie a man going crazy and killing his entire family before taking his own life).
Especially considering the fact that this was the eighties and domestic violence was becoming more and more made aware of
Idk maybe I watch to many crime documentaries but a mother pr father going crazy and trying to kill their family seems a bit common 🥲
Truly, Mr. Torrance becomes Jack Frost.
1:04 Huh? Usually the blood gets off at the second floor.
The mom looks so traumatized at the elevator scene
Her eyes are fucking scary lol
The reason why Danny was able to get out of the maze it’s because he used to play in the maze all time so he knows the layout and he knows how to get out and he knew how to trap jack inside
@@charlieu2b329 well yeah. Well done Danny!
Gotta love how in decades of horror movies, one of the smartest protagonists is still a little kid.
@@dksoulstice6040 right the hell on!!
When a 6 year old child is smarter than most horror movie protagonists today
Jack’s death is Justifying, when first watched this, I cheered.
It's not his fault he went mad. Nobody could have predicted that the overlook had a malevolent mind of its own.
@@warrioroflight6872 ikr
@@warrioroflight6872 Jack kinda seems insane right from the start of the movie.
@@warrioroflight6872 The old classic, lets build a hotel on an ancient indian burial ground. Rookie mistake
RIP Shelley Duvall 😢🕊️
This was me in Texas this weekend, things really sucked.
Lmao yeah we lost power for like a whole week
0:15 what’s that instrument?
Probably something that crackles might not be an actual instrument
It's extended string techniques, like hitting the bow of a violin against the bridge or using it in other weird ways to make crackling wood sounds. Penderecki, the composer, was a pioneer of that sort of thing.
Egg shakers 😂
Wendy sees the Elevator Bleeding and she's gets even more Paranoid
This is my favorite scene!
In that hotel there's good and bad ghosts,
The bad one made jack mad
That Red Elevator just looks like a old rusty Elevator
Jack remember be a good person

Me when I stand up while I’m on my period
Danny is so smart!
2:14 the first time i saw the movie, i truly thought that jack had a plan when he smiled, thankfully i was wrong and Danny made it

Danny and Jack turned into a horror movie version of the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.
1:48-1:59 I love the music at this part.
run this by me.... Why didnt Jack just follow the footsteps back to where he came from after he saw them end?
He was basically insane and suffering from hypothermia at that point, which causes confusion.
Hello everyone anyway I am very sad to tell all of you this so Shelly Duvall the actor of Wendy Torrance and the wife of Jack Torrance and the mother of Danny Torrance she has passed away so rest in peace Shelly Duvall and thank you so much for doing a really wonderful job as Wendy Torrance the wife of Jack Torrance and as the mother of Danny Torrance and Shelly Duvall will be forever remembered as a legend amen:(.
There is no one in the world, just a failed attempt to pull closer to hope for happiness and a real act of walking away.
পৃথিবীতে কেউ কারো নয়, শুধু সুখে থাকার আশায় কাছে টানার ব্যর্থ প্রত্যয় আর দূরে চলে যাওয়ার এক বাস্তব অভিনয়।
Danny mother gave him "permission" to protect himself. She tells him to "run and hide'.
Man Danny tricked his dad real good
How many gallons of fake blood can an elevator hold?
What about Dick Hallorann? He's gone and disappeared in the lobby because of shutting off the lights at the lobby and becoming skeletons with cobwebs.
Aww poor jack 4:44
Init
the sad thing is that not many people seem to mention in the comments is that even his dad to a small percentage was also a victim as well seen as the place was cursed if i remember it correctly and it drove Jack made and the saddest part is that he didn't seem to really realise that he was becoming unwell both mentally and emotionally and I don't know wherever she could or not or was to scared or not but if only Wendy would have been able to contact someone then they most likely all would have survived and hopefully Jack's mind wouldn't have been cursed a little bit like that film Amityville horror I think where the dad I think it was got really ill and they either couldn't save him or was at the very least was severely mentally and emotionally messed up and that was also based on a true story as well if I remember it correctly which if it was then it makes you wonder how many people that have sudden mental and emotional break down also have some kind of mental emotional physical work relationship family issues going on even including spiritual paranormal issues like in this film Amityville and the exercist films for example

Wendy say to danny ready? Ok ! One . Two . Three. Pulls

Stanley Kubrick forgot to add breath coming out of their mouths when they are outside in the maze which you wouldn't expect a Director like him to miss.
Nothing he could do on that. It was 90 degrees in that hedge maze.
I actually have the translations of his wild roars in the maze.

The Shining, this scene is beyond the Twiling Zone
This scene scared me so bad i was so on edge i was gonna cut myself
Jack Nicholson’s acting and facial expressions combined with the sound design snd shots of Danny knocked it out of the goddamn park
I think the girl is scarier then jack
