I’ve watched so many hoarder episodes where the women are “crafters” and the men are “handymen.”
    Nothing ever gets made.

Oh no! We aren’t hoarders yet, but that is us to a tee. 😅😂

I think it’s the thought of having a project to take on is a way to cope with the pain of loss(?) I’m a “crafter”.

It’s not the alcohol, it’s the individual choosing to drink. Her space was more livable and organized but Mary needs continued help. George is a gentle giant and a saint.❤

So very sad. She is depressed and lonely. This contributes to her hoarding.

Cats go where they feel safe, clean, and have privacy. If you don't clean the litter box or it's in a vulnerable place they'll find another place that you didn't pick

I understand her statement about alcoholics. My husband of 20 years died suddenly at 48yrs of a heart attack. He never found piece with his addiction. It destroyed our family. I am the opposite. I like everything organized and tidy. Its control in the chaos of my grief.

Two days is not long enough to achieve any real change.

Sometimes, a person just needs a hand to get things started. Looks like she's on the right track now. I hope she's doing well.

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was at college 30 years ago. At the expense of my personal and social lives, I was so focused on tidiness and cleanliness. Although the condition is quite different from hoarding (clutter and filth trigger my disgust reflex), I can empathize with the inescapable feeling that hoarders and OCDers feel of being "lost" in habits that evolve into routines, and eventually becoming the only way one knows how to survive.
While I've successfully sought treatment, some residual symptoms occasionally flare up - as happened during the height of the covid pandemic (in fact my habits prevented me from ever getting it). I have learned how to manage OCD, and part of my strategy has been placing the greatest emphasis on my values, such as connecting with family and friends, embarking on a career and educational pivot at midlife, and setting myself up for a healthy next 40-or-so years. "Would I be willing to relinquish that for a life mentally, emotionally, and physically focused on my material surroundings?" I think to myself. No.

When she said that her husband was an alcoholic but she wished he'd been a womanizer so she'd have a chance, I felt that. Many, many years ago I said something quite similar to my first husband who was a crack cocaine addict. I said to him- if it was another woman that took you from me, I'd have a chance. But I can't compete with the crack that's effing your brains out.

I dont get why owners blame the cats for pooping outside the litter box when the litter was is such a bad condition full of pee and poo. Like if your toilet would be full of poo and cant clean it youd go outside as well cmon ! I have 3 cats and they are the most clean animals i ever had i clen regularly to make sure they are happy and healthy

As far as clutters go (from what was shown at least!), that one really wasn't that bad! Not saying there wasn't a problem though, just thinking about cooking in that kitchen gave me anxiety. But I've seen enough episodes to say this one wasn't so bad.
Yet, they barely made it, and there's still a lot of work to do... Hopefully she'll keep it up, and get it done.
But she might need help mentally to do so. It's been years, yet she's obviously still grieving her husband...
