Having a friend with this addiction I’ve given up cleaning and organizing her house. I just stand in the door and wait for her. I can’t do it anymore.
The ladies that want to help her are wonderful
"The whole place has got to be done!!!" Sandra says and does little...
It’s so disgusting. I don’t want my home attached to hers!
Wait you're the neighbor?
Compared to American hoarders her home is pristine!!! Here in the US there are usually mice and rats and roaches and spiders and fruit flies and just plain FILTH, with non-functional bathtooms and kitchens.
Yes but she has moths and moth maggots!
There are many different degrees of hoarding all over the world.
It's a matter of levels, American hoarders focus on people with level 5 hoards. (likely because of the shock value, but also these people need the most help) This is a level 2 or 3. I have a feeling that British viewers would have less sympathy for hoarders at a level 5. It's important to remember that no matter what level, hoarding is always due to some kind of mental disease and we need to have the same level of compassion for them as we do for someone who has a disease of any other organ of the body.
Sandra is sitting on her watoosi when the the Divas do all the work. She doesn’t appear to be ready to let go of stuff!
She won't. She'll get right back t it as soon as they are gone. She said, "Oh it's echoey and empty". Red flag!
Shopping addiction needs to be handled then the hoarding
L❤VE Sandra. She is so genuine and sincere and very aware of her challenges and frailties and still has a sense of homour about herself and her situation ❤
❤ how thoughtful and compassionate the declutter ladies are ❤
I always say to my kids, if you want to find something, clean up. Imagine if she spent 2 hours cleaning up instead of looking for something. But I understand, it's not that simple. i wish her well.
Well, a shopping addiction is one thing, but I think the problem is she compensates that she's lonely and has got nothing useful to do with her time.
Maybe supporting less fortunate (, financially speaking) people or finding a hobby she loves (not shopping).
I know from my own experience with hoarders that cleaning up for them doesn't help in the long run without them seeing the problem(s).
She says it's annoying not finding things. She doesn't say it's too much stuff and that it's ruining her beautiful home.
I hope she gets the psychological help she needs, because it's not the life anyone should be living.
Raid everywhere, that poor dog
I know. Poor little thing.
Totally my concern.
This is just so damn dangerous!
If you work like 40-70 hours a week and you love what you do, it becomes your whole life.
Unfortunately this life will come to an absolute standstill the moment you retire.
My fiance showed me that you need a hobby, another purpose to your life to not get dangerously bored the moment you feel lonely and empty.
He is documenting statistics and wrote his own pen and paper game.
I have a little shop where i craft handmade gift cards/ birthday cards.
I think she needs to do a course. Buried in Treasures based on the book for Hoarders. It includes NON shopping trips, (distress tolerance exercises) and lots of insight building. If she could be prudent she would realise she only needs to buy human food, dog food and toilet paper and paid her bills and rates. If she put the rest in a term deposit,? so she does not touch it. Otherwise it looks like she needs a money manager….as she is so quickly rehoarding after having it all done with so much assistance previously.
Sandra's home is a shambles. I hope she gets professional counseling for her hoarding disorder.
This is nothing compared to some of the American episodes. Sandra's house was cluttered, but NOT squalid with rotting food, pet and human waste, etc.
She could afford professional help if she didn’t buy so much. It’s a sad cycle.
@@Lunafallsthe moths weren’t enough?
i wonder what her income is that she can just buy buy buy
I wonder that about a lot of them.
They said she was a legal clerk and is now retired. She probably worked her whole life.@@einahsirro1488
Dang, I’d rather have moths than spraying Raid willy nilly! There’s got to be a better way to get rid of those dang things! But I love how kind y’all are. ♥️
Sadly, most of these people, if not all, will go right back to hoarding afterwards.
If she is willing to sell her belongings for a dime on the dollar and her primary concern is to pass the stuff on she can be successful, that is what I do with stuff I don't want anymore, or find a good charity shop that actually gives back to the community instead of a profit secondhand shop, both of these choices are very rewarding to me
Here in Australia we have op shops that are by charities, great places to shop
Thx for inspiring me to give most of my stuff to the Salvation Army instead of Value Village where I can get a 20% off coupon off every purchase, more attractive than my 10% discount on stuff at the Sally Ann unless I spend $20 to get 20% off. Easier to spend less and get a bigger discount but VV is a for-profit place that often gouges.
I like that this version of the show trusts the subjects to talk intelligently about how they experience life and how their illness works. It allows them to explain in their own words and provides clarifications from people with professional perspectives, and any progress is victory no matter what might happen next. I'm sure the events are brightened up somewhat but producers but they people who are on this show always come off as pretty comfortable talking as opposed to the dramatic american version which does some of this but in a less kind way.
Anyway just be good to people even when they're not good
That's why I do curb side pick up at Walmart especially!! To easy to over spend when I go in!!
Yes! I do that too since covid, so much better!
I know that hoarding is a mental disorder and when I watch these shows, I have full empathy for the person who is fighting their inner demons. But there's something about Sandra that tells me she craves the attention she is getting for this disorder. To have a team bring your home back to a livable condition and then refill it again goes beyond comprehension. Maybe it's me being judgmental... for some reason Sandra irritates the hell out of me and doesn't seem genuine.
She never had balance in her life. Her life was her work--100 hours a week! She lost that, she just found a new obsession to delv fully into.
She has a lot of money but cannot hire one maid😅😅😅😅
A maid would run the other way. They cannot clean with that much stuff filling the rooms.
And they are always too exhausted to help but absolutely fine to go shopping and shopping and shopping
Sandra is only paying lip service to the ideas expressed here. She says "because my mom died I do this" and then forever uses it as an excuse. People give her space and attention which enables the toxic trait. She says she needs an activity to fill up her time (hoard her attention) to prevent hoarding. The real issue here seems that she is deeply uncomfortable with the quiet moments where she is alone with her thoughts and body. I hope someone can guide her through this
I love Sandra!!!
The Diva cleaned this woman place 2 years ago. Now they are cleaning it again cause she hoards again and filled her house. They should tell her that if she hoards again they will not be back to clean. Cause she’s going to do is argue
I like the way Sandra talks. But I feel sorry for her. As the hoarding is to full a void in her life.
"A hole in my soul."
instead of shopping, why not spend her money on ttavelling?😂
😂😂 to spend2hours to try 2find something, it quicker2 go2 the shops!! So true!❤😂
These hoarders complain about how messy their homes are; they can't find anything and how they hate living like they do, but it's themselves that have created this mess. Stop wallowing in self pity, and clean up your act!
IN AA, there is a saying, "Self-awareness avails us nothing". After Step 1, you have to do the next step, and the next, and so on. Most people who suffer from any addiction are aware they have one. Almost none will ever recover.
We all need to STOP conspicuous consumption. Think of all her wasted money. 💰
She wants someone else to do it for her. I would be so embarrased to have those ladies back 3 years later.
Take your dog out side away from moth spraying.
I’m surprised the dogs survived
That voice...like listening to rough rocks being dragged down a chalkboard!
I don't understand why, in the British/UK version of this show, the hoarder just sits around and does nothing, and the cleaners do every last bit of work. The hoarder never learns one single thing of value, and as another commenter pointed out, she's just going to fill the cleared out space up aqain. Probably already has, this episode having been done in late 2021-ish.
If they help then they just get in the way. Plus having a mental disorder has nothing to do with learning anything.
I’m just wondering how they can afford so much shopping? Almost non of the hoarders earns proper income 🤷🏽♀️
I don't have a lot of confidence that she'll succeed. She loves the open space; will she want to fill it now? What is the plan for finding an activity that is satisfying and not harmfully addictive?
Yes, she needs therapy
Has she undergone treatment? Has she explored this compulsion in therapy? Is she ready to make any changes? Guess not...I suspect this is just 'her chance to be on telly as a star?" Ugh...
lovely ladies
Thank you
"It feels empty" o-oh...
I think she layered everything all over the house and clamed that she's a horder, just to get people to do it all. The reason I think this is because the horders I've seen, their homes are absolutely disgusting. Full of dirt, old food, mold, webs, anything else you could think of. I've even seen carpets haved to be pulled out. So that's why I thought that. All her boxes and stuff is clean, even the floor.
There are degrees of hoarding; Sandra's situation was relatively tame. It seems to me her underlying problem is compulsive shopping.
She's a horder (moth infestation and all), she's just only had 3 years to fill it because they already cleaned it out.
This is the *SECOND* time 😮
What is a box room?
Unfortunately mental illness is very very real.. a lot of these people have severe mental illnesses... and in the United States the hoarders show.. at least 10 people ended up in a nursing home.. group homes.. because of their severe mental illnesses.. you should not judge these people until you hear the story behind it..
I would clean that place up no trouble - however I’d never let my place get like that 😂
It is shocking to see how much money people are willing to waste on meaningless things. Rather contribute toward charities reaching out to the poor, homeless or veterans suffering from PTSD.
September 2024. She needs years of therapy. Tina, Al's wife
Daughter of a hoarder myself. There was also a huge moth investation in the entire house. I am still very scared of months and maggots.
"Before i pop my clocks"! 😂
This women, if she had a billion dollars, she would spend it ALL on herself and her hoard, just selfish, and very unsanitary 👎👎👎
Honestly I don't care for little nick nacks!! They just collect dust and I don't need the extra work!!
I love British people!
There are reasons for hoarding that go to the root of our psyche, but the real reason is, we have a hole in our hearts that only God can fill. It’s a God shaped hole.
Hoarding is a better addiction than alcohol....right?
Semi attached! That means any creepy crawlers will be shared!
Take up a hobby and take up a craft like art or sewing or building puzzles or gardening!
or working at a charity?
This is making me sick
