    Mark my words. Your channel and atg and hookgrip are doing more for this sport than probably never before. Weightlifting almost died two decades ago and while crossfit resuscitated it, you are the ones getting it moving again, carrying it out in the front for everyone to see just how much it really is worth.

      weightlifting is on it's knees really with massive doping bans of the best lifters, totaly stupid new weightclasses and banning some of them from the olmypics, not getting atg and hookgrip access to rio olmypics training ground only a selective journalist, not uploading full competitions from rio games unlike london 2012, stupid tokyo games qualification rules etc.

    Started watching Strongman competition many years ago, then Powerlifting, and just a few days ago, Olympic Weighlifting, and what can I say, this is top-notch. It feels different. It really is a professional sport. Serious athletes, teams, and countries are behind this sport, and I'm all in as well. Thanks for the content.

      there is a weightlifting documentary somewhere on youtube and the end quote was "weightlifting is the best sport on earth". this is quite literally the truest sentence about it. it requires many many years of training for a movement that takes 2 to 3 seconds.

    The reason why Tian Tao is worse in the snatch it because he can't fully hook grip the bar because of his small hands (I have the same problem). I heard it in a Chinese interview, which you can easily find on TH-cam.

      @@ethanbaird5058 I doubt it because the width of your grip is determined by how long your arms are and how wide you have to hold to make contact with your hip. When your hands are smaller the difficulty of the lift grows exponentially.

      @ethanbaird5058 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Playush i don’t disagree with anything you said. snatch grip width is determined by arm length and contact point primarily. however, there is still a margin for personal preference. the wider you grip the bar, the harder it is to hook grip it. (essentially why we are not talking about cleans) so he seems to be taking advantage of his narrower grip. it definitely is not a major factor in the width decision, but a factor nonetheless

    The most inspirational to me is the dedication to warmups and form training. I'd like to see the puffy muscled bodybuilders handle such heavy weights with such ease. 400 lbs squats are just part of the warmups. Yang Zhe is a BEAST - 550 lbs snatch grip deadlift like it was nothing. Amazing. UPDATE - I just saw another TH-cam video where they claim that some of those weight plates are fake. That WOULD account for the UNNATURAL ease that they are lifting some incredibly heavy poundages. I'm sure they're all world-class athletes but some of those squats and snatches just looked TOO easy, didn't they?

    Just a quick point, when comparing Lu's squat to powerlifting records you mentioned a 48 hr weigh-in. The federation you were using to compare records (IPF) actually uses a 2 hour weigh in. That said, athletes do still cut a decent amount of weight so the 83kg record holder likely walks around several kg heavier than this and is probably bigger than Lu. Which make's Lu's squat absolutely insane.

      Thats not an upright row, he's not using his shoulders as a primary mover. He is using the bend at the hips to produce momentum for the bar to travel upwards

    • @livestrong296
      @livestrong296 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's because that's a part of finishing the movement, which by now the brain has automated. If they started thinking every time whether they need to drop or not drop the barbell because it's empty or full, they will be interfering with their already developed focus.
      Plus they are professionals who have the best quality mats and barbells to drop without worrying about collaterals.

    Ages is but a number when you are druged out of your mind. Doesnt take away his achievements but age does mean something and it does something if you dont use gear. I do however follow the logic of dont make excuses just brcause of your age. However this fraze is mostly for the normies who do not train not for actual lifters. Age is real it has effects if you havent put your best foot forward dont point at your age as an excuse otherwise if you did no one will disagree that age is why you arent capable of lifting more cuz they see an aged beast passed his prime.
