    I was initially diagnosed with meniscus tear but after MRI, turns out to be bone marrow edema contusion. Quite confusing, but yup, now my 5th week starting to fix my walk after of several weeks of limping.

    Thanks for the information, Very helpful. I have had 4 key hole surgeries for a medial meniscus tear on the same knee since 2016. I have never worn a brace, but i think i will wear one especially for squatting down. Could you recommend one that i can wear under trousers. Thank you

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't have a recommendation for that - you will have to experiment but in my opinion, the ones that provide stability will only fit under very baggy trousers.

    Excellent channel, very informative. I have medial meniscus tear of my right knee, no ligament damage at all, but my main source of pain is a very small subchondral area where I have a small vertical fracture with some edema at top area of tibia, under medial meniscus. I am currently wearing a thin compression sleeve with a double hinged brace over my knee. Just finished up set of 3 gel shots over last few weeks. However, I still have primary pain coming from the fracture area. I know unloader braces are for Arthritis individuals, but would an unloader brace possibly help to relief pressure in this fracture/edema area, to offload the pressure a bit? Any "opinion" in this regard would be appreciated. Thanks

    What do you recommend after meniscus surgery for returning to sports?

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends - if your rehab has gone well and your physio is confident that you're able to do all the moves without issue, you may not need a brace. But if you still want some support, I would go for a soft one like this geni.us/sCjsdoS

    What about an osteotomy operation? What type of knee brace should I use? I still get some swollen sometimes.

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is likely best to check with your doctor what they think is best - they may have a very specific brace that they find is best. You might benefit from an unloader but only if the osteotomy is in a specific area.

    Does a partial medial meniscus root tear need a brace? If so, which type would work best, please?

    • @AyeBeeG

      Hinged brace for serious
      Soft brace for less serious

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on how unstable your knee feels. In most cases the soft braces are enough - I might go for a soft one with some supports on the sides. Like one of these: Dr. Brace: geni.us/tL7A2fm

    Hello and love your videos 👍 my question is I have a grade 1 medial meniscus tear I was feeling better after like 3 months, afterwards I started PT and my knee is in pain swollen so I stopped going to the PT bcuz I got bad again. So I wanted to ask should I start doing PT at another place and should I wait till the pain and swelling subside before I start again. Thank you in advance and you Rock!!!

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Glad you found the video useful! Here's how you can decide:
      1. As a physio it can be difficult to predict how an exercise will affect a patient - sometimes it can be 100% fine while they do it and then cause a flare-up and pain later which you really did not think would happen.
      2. If you told your physio about this flare-up and they just told you to continue the same exercises and it continued getting worse, then I would go somewhere else because the person should be adapting your plan to find what is right for you.
      3. But if you've not given them this feedback, then I would first go back there and give them the chance to adapt your plan and give you more tailored advice.

      I have meniscus tear n went through exactly the same situation. My experience says that if u r getting pain n swelling after physio exercises, it means you have to stop doing all exercises till the pain n swelling go away n then start off with gentle exercises. Basically the exercises r not apt for your current level of fitness.I suffered for 1.5 months with my physiotherapist .Change the physiotherapist n start off with gentle exercises

    • @rit20095
      @rit20095 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Also start off with lower no of repetition n hold.u have to increase it very gradually.Dont hasten the process or u will have pain n swelling

      It is usually OK to ease back into running once you've completed your rehab and your physio has told you that your knee has recovered enough to do so.
