Kell, nice campus..Silliman. But they have zombies there: Is there a story about this tree being haunted? I...don’t ...know....I....forgot. What is this? Le....che...plan. You hit upon great conversationalists.
All of the country's top universities would boast of offering quality education. Silliman is no different. But while it joins the ranks of prestigious Philippine universities, it is humbled by a gift of a location that bespeaks of the natural environment's complement to academic learning -- one feature that sets Silliman apart from the rest.
Please visit Central Philippine University in Iloilo City - the second American and first Baptist university in the country and Asia. It's the sister school of Silliman University - the both were founded by American Protestants.
Here's a trivia, the entire area of Silliman University is so large that it also includes 2 housing villages, a huge hospital, 70 hectare farm (separate from the College of Agriculture) and a 100 hectare part of an island in Masbate that the annual budget of Silliman is actually bigger compared to Dumaguete City's annual budget. That's a fact!
@@biancayuzon9457 The court did not find any any provable cause that there was a land scam. Most of the claimants are from the Generoso clan who were not even residents of this island.

"And the palm trees tall and stately, wave their branches in the breeze, stands a college we all honor, in our hearts without a peer, Silliman our Alma Mater, ever lovely ever dear, loyal will we be to Silliman, here's a cheer boys three, times three, Silliman our Alma Mater, Silliman beside the sea"
YEYYYYYY! Thanks for the tour Kell, you finally did it! Let me share some interesting facts: In 1979 SU’s Van Houweling Research Laboratory, produced a dog vaccine that gave a 3 year immunity from rabies making it the first and only laboratory to produce a rabies vaccine with long-term immunity in the whole of Southeast Asia. This was latter used by other counties in collaboration with WHO. The Luce Auditorium is named after the wife of Henry Luce III, elder son of Henry Luce who is the founder and editor-in-chief of Time magazine.
The perfect acacia tree is called the “Tree of Life” in the day and the “Tree of Death” at the night. And yes, it is said to be haunted because that’s where the prisoners were hanged. If you take a look at the Chanon Hall, near the acacia tree, it has holes on the walls because that’s where the Japanese soldiers poke spears from outside of the building. Inside the building are full of prisoners being tortured until they die. The remaining prisoners alive will be hanged on the Tree of Death. That’s the story I’ve heard about the acacia tree and Chanon Hall during the WWII. There are a lot of scary stories in Silliman University. The leche flan is made out of eggs, condensed milk and some dairy products with caramel sauce. Glad you enjoyed touring around Silliman University, Kell! 🥰❤️
I stayed in channon hall for 4years...there is a basement where those who died during Japanese occupation where thrown...the basement is already closed...

Thank you for featuring our dear Alma Mater, Silliman University. ♥️ Hope there’s part two! 🙂 Also, SU has a beautiful ball field, where soccer players (like me, back in the good ol days lol) train and in front of it, Silliman University Medical School + Institute of Rehabilitative Sciences, where I gained my Physical Therapy degree (unless it was moved) + Silliman University Medical Center, where I had few months of my clinical internship. Grateful to be part of SU. Indeed, one cannot spell SUccess without SU. ♥️🙏☺️✌🏼 Fun facts: 1. Uniform and dress code is not an issue to college students and that we are free to express ourselves e.g short + slippers, and I even went to school and took my exam with my PAJAMAS on because I had no time to change that time. I believe it is the only university in Philippines 🇵🇭 where it is allowed. Hope they did not change it. Justification : Silliman beside the sea. 😎 2. When I was there, I am not sure if it has still the same policy, most classes (except those pursuing medical related degrees) happen on Tuesdays to Fridays, since Mondays are for meeting for organizations. 3. Founders day on August 28 and on the week, it is so much fun. We used to have competitions among each department in sports, Miss Silliman and CHEERDANCE is the best competition. Also, alumni from all around the world visit and celebrate. 4. We have an amazing marching band and dance troupe too! Bonus just for fun: Try the balut and Bosing’s Tempura level 1-5 (graded according to it’s hotness 🌶) Hence, if you visit again, visit on the Founder’s week! :) Maybe you can join the parade or sit in some classes? hey kell, that's not actually your first time to eat leche flan, a staple ingredient of halo-halo that's placed right on top of the heap along with ube jam and/or ube ice cream. also, do find a way to get to CDO by the last weekend of nov. or first weekend of dec. to be able to join xavier university's school-wide festival where you can also take a quick historical tour of the main campus right in the heart of the city, with a beautiful chapel in the middle of it all. you'd be lucky to see it all still standing before everything gets torn down in favor of commercial development that seems to have been planned without thorough consultation with historical and heritage preservation authorities.
Now I have a better appreciation of the Silliman University campus, thanks to you Kell for putting so much creative effort to creating this informative vlog. I really enjoyed this vlog.

Eggs, leche flan is made of eggs and that did look luscious. Awesome tour of Silliman U. She's beautiful! Thanks!
Delishhhhh! 😍
I love this edition very much.
I love your University Vlogs!!
hey kell, that's not actually your first time to eat leche flan, a staple ingredient of halo-halo that's placed right on top of the heap along with ube jam and/or ube ice cream.
also, do find a way to get to CDO by the last weekend of nov. or first weekend of dec. to be able to join xavier university's school-wide festival where you can also take a quick historical tour of the main campus right in the heart of the city, with a beautiful chapel in the middle of it all. you'd be lucky to see it all still standing before everything gets torn down in favor of commercial development that seems to have been planned without thorough consultation with historical and heritage preservation authorities.
Ooh I remember that! 😁
Now I have a better appreciation of the Silliman University campus, thanks to you Kell for putting so much creative effort to creating this informative vlog. I really enjoyed this vlog.
thank you for this, kell!
Flying kell literally flying. 😁😁😁👍👍

That’s real cool dude, I may actually go to school there for senior high thx for the info, and also the masskara video ( being from Bacolod ) really liked it, because you see I’ve never attended the festival because my parents say it’s dangerous
There's also a Silliman College in the U.S.A if ia am not mistaken.

I love the 1950s vibe of the university. Must be wonderful in the summer. The environment is so conducive to studying. The students have this humble vibe and strength in them. Our country's future is secured having future citizens, professionals, *leaders* like them.
