If you would like to meet up with foreigners, Ground Zero Restaurant is the place to go. In the mornings, expats and retirees often gather here for breakfast, coffee, and conversation. As the day cools off, and the sun goes down. Rizal Boulevard Is where you’ll find stunning sunsets, various restaurants, and a lively atmosphere, making it a favorite destination for locals and visitors.
Ferry voyages from Dumaguete provide an excellent opportunity to explore the stunning islands and coastal destinations in the region. One of the most popular ferry routes is the trip to Siquijor Island, known for its enchanting beaches and mystical charm.

Guys: a million+ families in the PI live quite well on around $400/$500 a month. If a sole foreigner can't manage that on $700/$1000 a month, I have no sympathy. Just remember you live there and you're not on holiday. Do that and you'll be fine.
If you avoid women and bars it’s doable. but that’s the allure that drives foreigners from going there in the first place 🤣🤣 but with no pinay to shop, cook, wash your clothes, and show you the ropes, take you to immigration, fill out paperwork, go to mall to pay your bills, etc ,etc, you can get lost in the shuffle pretty easily.. if you plan on finding that young hottie expect your monthly expenses to shoot up a minimum of 1,000 dollars a month, maybe much more as you will be financially taking on her whole family 😊and stragglers
@@keith-kb1zlSo if a foreigner came to PH with a Soc Sec of $3520 a month along with approx $575 a month from IRAs, that wpuld be enough to live in a med size city like Cagayan De Oro?
I am Filipino living here in California and I can tell you, you will be fine living on $500 in Cagayan. Actually that's already a lot. But if you choose to live in Manila, everything is more expensive.
@@bhinbayoucity5691 More than enough.
@@keith-kb1zl Forget the visits to immigration. Just plonk that 10K in the bank and get the retirement visa. No more visits to immigration and worth every cent. Then you won't need some parasite and her family to show you the ropes.

@@gsomethingsomething2658 last year I made a video about your question
I'm 32, single. My goal is to pay off my house ASAP here in Southern California, and then once I do that, rent it out and live in the Philippines. That alone will make me ~$3,000 USD per month. Not to mention my other investments. I feel like I could live amazing there. I just love riding my bicycle, and wouldn't even need a motorbike or car. Would live an easy life and just ride my bike everyday and explore, I don't drink etc.

Very good video, It really boils down to the individual and self control. I always believed one could make it with a low amount. If it can be done in certain parts of Mexico, it can definitely be done in the Philippines. Great video.👍👍👍

I'm in Kentucky near Lexington and a Mexican immigrant here from 2 hours away from Guadalajara has 'family' living there on well below $1000/mo. ! -- Colombia too in rural areas can be $650 - $800 / mo. for a good life - IF - you can speak fluent Spanish. -- I would prefer English and the friendly people in the Philippines - but ideal weather can be had in the other 2 countries in several locations at about 5000 feet elevation !

Totally reasonable. I get so tired of hearing people say you can't make it there with less than 2k.
Because they are still mentally in a spending trance equals happiness 😂
Yeah, the majority of vloggers, always coming up with $1,500 Or 2000 a month, Or you will be suffering and not living, if that was the case, you might as well stay home, and don't move overseas, of you don't have the amount they are suggesting!!
It depends on your lifestyle. I have known foreigner-couples living in Manila quite comfortably on 1000 a month. If you want high class living, your condo alone may cost more than $3000 per month. 8-10 hour daily air-conditioning with fully automatic washing machine, electric stove. microwave may add $200 to the bill but some people (foreigner or local) have electric bills that ccsts aropund #2000 0per month.
A couple could live comfortably in major cities (Philippine standard) with $2,000 a month. But if you chose Bonifacio Global City for example, $2.000 "may" not be enough
@@AlphaWebSoluitionsagree. It depends on your lifestyle. For ordinary living , a single person will need $1000, no bars/clubs or gf. $2000 or more if you are fond of those last 3.

Filipino food is mostly not too good, but you can cook at home.
Been living here in PH for 12 years now with my wife and 2 kids. Kids go to a private school and our monthly expenses barely go over $1000. Half the time it's under $1000. It's about the lifestyle you choose. And no we don't live in some remote province or island. We live 40 mins away from Metro Manila. We go out to nice restos or parks 2 or 3 times a month. I can keep a budget under US $1000/mo in San Juan, La Union Ph. I have a modest pension of about $1300/mo so I actually get ahead a little each mo.
@KevinMullin-iz9bp, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment on your personal experience. I'm sure people will find it helpful.
My take on budgeting in the Phil circa 2023 based on my experience:
- Renting decent apartment/condo: 10k - 15K ($200-$300 USD)
- Electric: 4k - 8k or around $100 USD (depending on how much you run the AC units you have--get an inverted type if you can)
- Water: around 600 PHP or $12 USD
- Food: 15K or $300 - $1000 USD (depends on how "well" you want to eat, and if you are feeding other people, dogs, etc..)
- Renewing tourist visa: about 2000 PHP ($40 USD month) or 3500 every two months, plus you need to buy an Alien Registration Card once a year (around $75 USD or 3000 PHP)
- Health saving: 5000 or $100 USD - try and put some money in savings every month for emergencies or health care needs, dentist, etc..
- Transportation: 500 - 10K PHP or $10 - $200 USD - depends on how much you want to travel, and if you want to own a bike/car
I'm probably missing a few things, but I'd say $1000 USD is the BEAR minimum. It all depends on how much you want to live like a Westerner or a local. I'd say you need at least $2000 USD in passive income (or from working remotely) a month (after taxes) in order to live comfortably (i.e. like a Westerner) here.
Also add another $1000/mo if you plan on helping/supporting a Pinay and her family.
You say how well you eat but if you buy vegtables and eat at home healthy if wouldn't cost more than $200 a month. I know because I do it.
@@stephandevere2812 Only $200 a month? How much do you think it would be for somebody like me who's diet is only beef, salt, and water(carnivore diet)? I rather cook at home than eat out.
@@GreedisGood92 The Vikings tried that diet, but after losing all their teeth, they tried mixing it with vegetables.
@@Fissan_PoulsenNonsense. Many of us come from thousands of generations of living in the frozen north, where plants are simply not available but maybe one month/year at most. These folks not only have better teeth, but they lack heart disease etc that is all caused by excessive carbohydrate consumption.
@@Fissan_Poulsen That is nonsense. Vegetables do nothing for your teeth.
Be there many times,if you dont need to workout,or pool or bars or nice food or doctor, you will spend more ,but if you are really tight and squeaky maybe 1200 dollars
How long does it take for your stomach to get used to the food? I get sick whenever I eat the local food almost anywhere outside the US.
drink a little soda to kill the bacteria to avoid getting sick then as time passes your body adapts
Is cdo cheaper?
alex did not mention electric, water, or add in his medical costs
Awesome info. How much is it to rent/buy a motorcycle/moped
@BennyJSr., A used bike may be as little as $400 USD. A new scooter will be around $1,400 USD.
@@LivingOverseasTV Better to buy a new motorcycle. They tend to drive things into the ground a lot. You can still get one for around $1000 US new if all you need is a basic bike.
At night medical care it’s gotta be emergency room service and you only have to pay less than $200 without insurance? Try it in the States oh and the dreaded 3-8 hr wait, consider it a bargain.
Me and the wife have been living here for 4 years quite well for about $800 a month. We do have our own property and house built and paid for.
That keeps the accommodation costs down. But we also have a new Toyota that brings the cost up again. So yes, you can live on $800 or even less depending on where you choose to live.
Liar. Foreigners can't own property.
Hello I came across your page while searching for remote work to live in Philippines and I was wondering if you have any remote work me and my gf can get into even if we’re making below 1k a month , I was wanting to move so I could train martial arts to fight professionally and to also get away from the toxic lifestyle of where were living so I’m taking the leap but just need a way to make usd if possible please let me know it would be a blessing and we can set up a video call or I could send my email for you to get to know me more because I understand it'll be hard to make a decision under a youtube comment to see if we’re the right fit to work with you or help find work

How do you own property when foreigners aren't allowed.
Yeah, how did you buy a house, when thats illegal? And its near impossible to live on 800 a month. Especially for 2 people. You could spend more than that on 1 meal.
Dumaguete is a provincial city albeit, developed, and the cost o living is cheaper. In major cities, you still can live under $1000 if you live on the thrift side (but decently). A family of 4 can still live comfortably with $2000 a month within major cities (Philippine standard). Of course this excludes living in cosmopolitan cities and with western standards.

Does the philippine allow permanent residency for Americans? And how much does it cost to get it?
There are a few different permanent residence options, SRRV (retirement visa), 13A (if married to a local) 13 Quota (50 per country per year), but you can also easily stay 3 years straight as just a tourist. That 3-year count can easily be reset at any time with a quick exit and re-entry.

If one can cover these major source of expenses like rent + utilities, food, medical insurance and transpo then you are on top of everything. Everything else will be optional. Now if you like having a fun lifestyle like if you enjoy nightlife, malling and other recreation, you will need to be careful as these can be the main reason why you could spend more than your budget. $700 is a realistic budget but won't be advisable for the first few months living here and if you want luxurious way of living. You need to have an emergency fund too for unexpected events like accidents or you want to get our quickly. At $1000 you will be have a middle class to upper middle class lifestyle over there.
Lived in the PH for the first 20+ years of my life so that's for credibility.

There's no official foreigner's fee. But some doctors can try to scam you asking $10000 for dislocated bone in shoulder. Because some of them are renting rooms in clinics and work like a small business inside.
If you had a dislocates shoulder you dont go to doctor but instead find a Hilot which can do a massage and bobe realignment. They can also tell if you really need a doctor.Hilots are really good they are like a chiropractor but with traditional medicine practice.

how is crime and safety?
I don't have official crime statistics. I feel safe. Sometimes something happens, like everywhere else in the world. For example, the murder of the governor or there was a case of a crazy tramp attacking a local woman with a knife. I lived in a private suite at a hotel where my cleaning and laundry was done, they also ensured that a member of private security escorted me from the hospital to my apartment at night. As far as medical treatment, the costs add up quick if something serious happens like heart attacks, strokes, cancer - get a decent health insurance if you are older.

“Come back tomorrow to get stitched-up?” What a crack up. The best thing about the Philippines is if one has a medical emergency and you happen to arrive to the hospital within the golden hour, you will not suffer. Because one will need to pay for services before any intervention. By then, you’re dead. Unless, of course you’re Pacquiao. This is every hospital in the country and many hospitals outside the big city does not have a physician in the ER, they have to be called in (?).
Mongers and party animals will need a minimum of $2,000.00 USD, from what I’ve seen…
