    So beautiful to have this resource in preparing to date again after ending a 19 year relationship. It should be called how to win at love 💕

    Terri, your channel is like "Psychotherapy for Dummies" in the best way possible. I've read many self help/psychology books but the way you break everything down just clicks:) Keep up the good work!

    I could listen to you talk for hours! Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I wish everybody on this planet would see the part about ownership. If people started thinking about their relationship like that - lucky to be in a relationship with that person - I think a lot of relationships would be much happier. I look forward to your videos each week! 💛🌼💛

    Excellent advice, Terri!! Thank you for sharing this with us! I heard a story of a man (might have even been a pastor) and his wife had really bad asthma and would sometimes need him to get her inhaler. The one day they got into an argument and they went to bed mad. In the middle of the night, the man felt his wife tapping him, but he ignored it, assuming it had to do with the fight. The next day, she was still asleep when he left for work. He went through his day and began to feel bad and wanted to make her feel better. He got her flowers and by the time he got home, she was still in bed. Dead. She was apparently having an asthma attack the night before and was trying to get her inhaler and he had let his wife die because he went to bed angry. I absolutely agree!!

    Oh Terri, thank you SO very much for posting these videos for those of us who REALLY benefit from the beautiful voice and fantastic information. I only recently came across your videos and I assure you that the moment I found them...I'm completely hooked. This came at the most important time in my life. Feeling broken, lost and frustrated that the skills that are so needed to thrive as an individual were NEVER taught to me, too many of us. Thank you, thank YOU from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU! Peace, love and happiness....

    Basically, don't be a total jerk! (and actually be nice!)
    I feel these 20 rules apply to ALL relationships, with your mom, your kids, your friends.
    Don't criticize, don't blame, listen, let them have their dreams, be empathetic, say sorry! Don't be a jerk!

    LOL, point 20 was something my mother said often. Tried to explain that to my wife, bad move. Life is short you only get one go at it. No use holding bitterness on other people, let them go free in your heart. Still be careful with them, just let the bad emotions go.
    What's more funny, my wife said very horrible things about my mother to get a rise off me (I saw through it). I think it was because my mother saw through my wife, my mother was very discrete and would never say anything without me asking first (anything she thought was personal / advise). She passed away before I woke up, would have been good to have talked about it and let her know "The sleeper has awakened".

    Thank you so much. My partner has NDP and he doesn't like intimacy or sex. This has caused me lots of pain and after years of no affection I have had to seek a divorce. It's very painful but we can't go on like this.

    great info....never heard these tips....thank you......My ex and I had to break up because firstly, and this is hard to admit, he binge drinks and gets sloppy and staggering and mean as a drunk and his personality changes so much he is nothing like his sweet and smart personality when he is sober...so that was confusing as hell...like a jeckyll and hyde...also I did not respect him for that and I felt like he chose alcohol over me and over taking care of himself...but as an addict perhaps he has no choice....secondly he had no vision for what our future looks like...we had no shared couples vision together....I tried to talk to i'm about it but he was blank...I have to forgive myself for not knowing....I had terrible relationship models growing up....I never learned healthy relationships until now...I am learning now...terri cole, alanon, coda....I also have so much shame for not knowing better but how could I?....

    This guy accuses me of punishing him. He lives 7 hrs away, I very rarely get to see him and we usually text a fair bit. Sometimes talk on the phone.
    He is friends with his ex wife and keeps me a secret from her and everyone. He promised I could spend his bday with him, then 3 weeks before, he said he has to now spend it with his sister and ex. I can still come, he says, but I have to hide and wait for his return. So. I didn’t go. And he is really angry with me. Saying I am jealous and punishing. I ruined his birthday. But I think it’s disrespectful and showing a lack of priority of me…

    • @novalynn5837
      @novalynn5837 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel powerless in this relationship and have been waiting for a year, A YEAR in limbo, with false promises to move towards us while he begs for my patience. No progress. More distance on my part. But he says he feels stronger than ever.

    • @terri_cole
      @terri_cole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am witnessing you with so much compassion ❤️ It sounds like you might need to make a choice on whether you want to stay or not. It does not sound like you are punishing, either.
