If the building has a management company, they should be organising the insurance, unless your service agreement states otherwise. However, it's highly unlikely that they will cover you for emergencies within the flat (a leaking washing machine, for example) or contents. Take a look at your written agreement with the management company and if in any doubt, speak to an expert.
