    G'day mate, this is the most informative clip. I have a 110cc Chinese ATV that has had some starting issues for about a year now. I've tried finding some answers to it but nothing has helped. I went hunting and found this video. I then spent around $180 Australian to purchase all the tools you spoke about and I found the issue was compression and the kids can finally ride their buggy again. Thank you very much from our family to yours.

    I'm mechanically savy and never took on one of these chinese atvs or quads but watching your videos makes it so simple. Keep up the good work.
    Oh on a side note I picked up a hobby of fixing junked atvs and selling them for cheap for kids and in the process teach my kids a thing or two. Appreciate your videos. Many blessings.

      @PraskaBoysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have engine out of frame and in house. Top cover off and cam out. Fair amount of dark oil up top. Did compression test following your tutorial on here. 75. Pumped air in with a car compressor but didn't get air leaking from anywhere. May not have been powerful enough.

    As someone who's applied Honda's torque specs to the clone and snapped a couple bolts, I'd say look up the motor model number and see if you can find it's torque specs, because extracting a snapped bolt is a huge pain. Given I looked for hours for torque specs before using the Honda specs, it's still at least worth a little research.

      The motor has a chain tensioner. There is a 14mm bolt on the bottom of the engine next to your drain plug. If you remove that bolt there is a spring and plunder behind it. Once removed you can easily get the sprocket and chain on.

    One of the best videos on rebuild that I’ve ever watched. Totally got me excited to do mine. Wondering 1 thing. On the exhaust port, my assembly has a very thin and malleable piece of metal where the exhaust pipe marries into the assembly. Wondering a) how serviceable it is, b) there’s like a rubberish washer down in there that was coming off in chunks that I don’t see as part of any rebuild kits, c) if this is crucial to good performance to make sure this is right. I can probably get it back to round, but it’s so flimsy that any on and off of the exhaust will just mess it up.

    • @PraskaBoysGarage
      @PraskaBoysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I am not looking at it I can't tell you 100% this is it but rather a very strong guess. It is most likely a crushing gasket. It usually comes in the kits as a brass ring. It seals the exhaust to the port. You can buy a replacements for under $5 bucks shipped. Yes this is crucial that way you don't have an exhaust leak.

    That is one trick table with swiveling engine stand my good sir. Thanks for the details we (I) want. Personally, I appreciate how you cleaned and inspected the old parts versus replacing everything because it came in the kit. One thing I've been taught though is to only use gasket sealant on the outside aka the part you're taking off. Have you ever tried this method? What are your thoughts?

    Awesome, gonna be tearing into my kayo 150cc minigp this weekend. Spark plug says it's running lean. I richen it up a bit and starts bogging horribly. I left it like that for a track day though and just kept the RPM up so it wouldn't bog.
    Spark plug STILL saying running lean, so thinking the timing or valve clearance is off.

      I wonder if they make a jet kit for that ATV or maybe it would be better to upgrade to a Mikuni Carb, especially if you are taking it to a track. Good luck on solving the problem, and thanks for watching!

    Isn’t ignition timing spec 15 degrees BTDC on these things? I’ve noticed a T as well as an F on the flywheel, should cam sprocket be set when “F” on flywheel is visible in the viewport instead of the “T”?

    I bought 2 brand new Chinese dirt bikes. Within 5 hours of running, one got a bent intake valve. I replaced it, and within 1 week, the other bike got a bent intake valve which I am now replacing. What would cause this? Valve clearances too tight from the factory?

    very nice video, however by the time I buy valve kit, spring compressor and everything else I think id just buy the whole thing for $50 and save myself alot of time, but very good video for someone who has time and patience and more importantly that compression tool

      My engine stand is probably the most popular tool I have. I got it off eBay back in 2018, but the seller is hit and miss when he lists them. I am currently working with a guy who owns a CNC machine to start making them myself!

    Hello, I teach the Outdoor Powersports program(motorcycle, ATV & snowmobile repair) at Region 10 Technical High School in Brunswick, Maine and our first year students just watched up to the 17 minute mark. We have a few comments - 1st off, as the Instructor, I have 40+ years of experience in the Motorcycle trades and I'm a Certified Honda/Yamaha Factory Trained Technician. I have been teaching for 23 years now and I find youtube can be a great learning tool (not always in a positive way though). We noticed that while performing the leakdown test, you never verified if the piston was at TDC on the compression stroke or at valve overlap! When you remover the cam sprocket cover , I did see that the motor was at valve overlap as the camshaft timing marks were 180 degrees off - OOPPS!! You removed bolts that you said were 8mm but are actually 6mm (with a 1.00 thread pitch). Yes an 8mm wrench fits, but that is not the bolt size. You pried off a cover with a screwdriver (a no-no). You also refereed to the valve adjusting lock nuts as " 9mm bolts". And pretty sure that any engine with daylight coming past the valve seat will not even build up any compression let alone, 70 psi of compression. My guess is the piston ring end gap is beyond specs due to lack of proper air filter maintenance and that explains the massive oily/carbon buildup on the piston crown. We will continue to search the web for more videos that show us how-to(or not), thanks for your time, Bill Ross

      Bill, first let me say thank you for watching the video or at least 17 minutes of it. Unlike you, I am no professional and have never received any technical training to work on small engines. However the purpose for my video is to help others who are also in the same boat I am(not a mechanic). I wish we could all take our powersports to shops like the people you are teaching will work at some day, however the cost to repair these knockoff motors professionally is more than the entire replacement cost of the machine. I here your critiques and will look to improve the quality of my videos in the future. With your background and knowledge of powersports I would encourage you to film videos yourself. Please understand you wont get paid for these lessons you spend hours upon hours filming, editing and posting but you will get the enjoyment of teaching us the proper techniques. Thank you for your comment.
