  • When stripers follow the bunker into Raritan Bay, it can take a big bait to get their attention. One of the favorite techniques of Captain Rob Radlof is to fish large metal-lip swimmers. In this episode Rob shows Jimmy Fee the technique, and later, Jimmy visits Gary Soldati, maker of the Big Water Pike, to see how these large swimming plugs are made.

    Why not just use a reel with left hand retrieve instead of switching hands after every cast? Plus it’s easier to fight a fish with your stronger arm on the rod

    East coast fishing looks way more fun than west coast fishing and the stripers are way bigger in the east coast too.

    It’s videos like this that absolutely RUIN my local waters I’ve been fishing my whole life. Nothing but out of staters shoulder to shoulder on our beaches boats filling our rivers and bay with 0 regard for other boaters. I fucking hate what this channel and the fisherman magazine has done.

      @@smayway Thanks. I have the Mojo Inshore JIC711HMF paired with a Daiwa Lexa 300 that I use for flutter spoons. I was looking for a rod to throw those bigger plug ands was considering the JIS711HF but now I’ll to check into the JIC79XHMF. I was pretty sure that was a Tranx but unsure of the size.

    • @OnTheWaterMedia
      @OnTheWaterMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Andrew - thanks for watching! Alex covered it there. It was a beautiful setup for the big plugs, and I believe Rob said that's what he uses for the flutter spoons as well. I was initially a little nervous about backlashing and sending one of those difficult/impossible to replace plugs into the abyss, but the setup was so well balanced and dialed in that it was a breeze. As Alex said, Rob was involved in the development process for those rods, and helped craft them for his favorite techniques. They were a pleasure to fish. - Jimmy Fee

      Alex nailed it! The Mojo Inshore and Tranx Combo was a perfectly balanced setup for tossing the big plugs, and gave, as Rob said, better line control, and some extra power to set the hook on a bass taking a swipe at the big plug.
