I found out that for the clipping mask, the blank layer in between the gradient and the shape isn't necessary, I tried following your tutorial and dragging any color in the selected circle didn't make the gradient appear, but if you remove that blank layer and make the gradient a clipping mask directly above the circle it works. It must be a new update in Procreate, at any rate there is one step less to do it now.
Let me know here in the comment section what tutorials you would like me to make in the future! The one about making stylized characters is on its way! :) Cheers
Dolores Desroche you’re welcome! There are a few drawing tutorials that I’ve made and a Top 10 features for beginners on Procreate! I hope this helps, cheers!
This is so helpful because I am just sitting there trying to get the smudge tool to work and then I came across this video and it helps so much. Thank you 😊
Thak you!! This is very helpful!! I would like to know about 'paint bucket'.. For example, If I use the acrylic brush and then fill it, the color is always solid... Is it possible to fill in with the same brush you use the outlines???
You sir, are a GENIUS!!! I'm new to Procreate, and I never thought of doing this, so this is fantastic!! Thank you for the tip!! You just saved me a bunch of time! And I just subscribed!
I get as far as the clipping mask when trying to do the circle "trick". When I click on that I get selection screen not a white screen like you have. I followed the remaining steps like you show, but my circle is not appearing on the screen. Although the circle in not in the selection criteria. When I go to fill it with a color after I select the circle layer, nothing happens. I must be doing something wrong.
I think I figured it out. My layer 2 was active. When I hd that the circle had a the gradient effect. Great video. Hopefully someday they'll have this in Procreate. I'm so used to Photoshop's gradients
Can you please do a video on how to add text in comic using multiply layer ? How do you arrange text written randomly on a separate page over a drawn comic page? 🤔
Thank you! I just got one little question; why do you need an intermediate layer between gradients and the circle? I believe, It works equally perfect when the gradient is a clipping mask and a circle is just a circle, and there is nothing between them.
Hey really appreciate your video.... I’m rockn the new IPad Pro and wanted to make a new banner for my youtube channel. I needed gradients. Hopefully the same principal will work with blending a photo with a solid color. I’ll give it a try.... I guess if successful you might see my new banner up in an hour or so : ) Thanks again!
Try to follow step-by-step what I do in the video to make the first gradient, see if that works for you - remember the most important thing is to apply the gaussian blur onto the layer you would like for it to become a gradient, and then use your finger to drag the amount of blur at the top bar - I don't think that you can use the Apple pencil to drag the bar along. Hope this makes sense
This is frickin genious.... i always fiddle with airbrushes and opacity... never thought of doing it like this...!!
Awesome, I'm glad that I could help!
There’s a smudge tool that you can use, too!

Do you have a video on how to make gradients within a layer? Like in a character's hair? Or like a shiny pair of shoes?
This was so helpful. Thank you!

Thank you soooooo much
Thanks!
You did SOMETHING with the middle layers after selecting the circle but you didn't explain WHAT you did. Could you tell us what that step was? Thanks.
Same problem - I can’t get the “magic trick” to work

One would think a 15€ 2020 software would be able to provide gradients like wordart from 1995. apparently not…
Trying to guess accent... I'm with either Italian or Brazilian/Portuguese
Actually now i am about to throw my freaking ipad i did step by step doesnt work
way too much talking man, please keep it short and simple
This is way harder than other apps, kinda useless and hacky
