Honestly line tools should now just auto vector so up scaling isn’t necessary. It’s such an obvious and easy fix but things like adobe illustrator make it look way more complex than it has to be. Like companies just need to create vector brush packs #its2020
@@erikleypoldt8275 in spite of the assertion of the original poster, I'm not convinced it _is_ all that straightforward to add vector brushes to a raster-based app.
Vector capable software is wildly difficult to create from a development standpoint, and is largely limited by hardware. It's unfortunately not as simple as just "adding a tool", it often requires a ton of restructuring behind-the-scenes, sometimes to the point of creating a whole other copy of the software. Not to say that it's impossible or that other software is neccessarily better for having it, but changing and adding tools after the fact is very difficult.
Thanks for the tips! I’ve spent my entire digital art career using paint tool sai, and in the past year I switched to procreate, and honestly I haven’t been drawing as much because I knew sai like the back of my hand. It’s taking me a while to get used to how lineart and coloring works in procreate.
Basically a Technical Pensil brush with a sharp circle. I did it a couple of months ago, because I hated the blur on the regular Technical Pencil brush. Thanks for the bicubic tip!!
Trying out these tip on 6th gen ipad pro. The pixelation is still there just less pronounced but what I appreciate is the inking brush feels better than what I used before!

Is there a technique or calculator to work out which higher quality pixel size is best to work on? For example, if I want to print an 210mm x 255mm sized picture which is 2480 x 3012.. how do I determine a larger pixel size that is still high quality, but not so large that it doesn't allow many layers. Is 20% larger enough?
I’ve been having troubles with wanting a lot of layers but also wanting Crisp lines and 300 dpi and 2000x2000 ya can’t have both so I need to learn how to not use a lot of layers
This video is a godsend!!! I was just looking at the interpolation choices this week and wondering how to find out what they meant!!! Thank you for making this video. Canvas Size Examples card (at 2:08) has a typo, right? #2 Print should be 12" x 18" right? (It says 12" x 8"). 300dpi x 18" = 5400px. Just making sure that 300dpi really is the recommended dpi, not 450 which is what it would be if the print dimensions were 12"x8". Thank you for this video! I really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi! When I resize an illustration (make it smaller). Then I click on that layer again, and resize up (make it larger) it is suuuuper pixelated. Is there any way to avoid this?
Hi there, unfortunately no - Procreate is a raster program, meaning it doesn’t retain the pixel accuracy like a vector program does when scaling up and down elements. So the best way really is to make a backup copy of the layer you want to scale so you can always start from a source that haven’t been scaled down. It’s one way to minimize the amount the pixelation. The more you scale, the more pixelated your element will be. Good luck!
Hey great video! I still have some problems tho: when I rotate an object in my illustration the edges become super frayed and idk how to fixt that... does someone have an idea on how to fixt it? Thanks!
as far as I know there is no way to fix it, some are just trying to minimize the need of rotating or replacing... but if anyone knows any tip please share~

I am always really nervous about downloading “brushes” into procreate. So I haven’t done it. You mention at beginning of video you will show us how to create 2 brushes. I get confused in the walkthrough, you say NOT to select the + create brush? And to edit the settings of a current brush, correct? The brush you edit is an untitled (custom) brush… which stock brush should I use to start changing the settings. I wish procreate would just already have a canvas size and bush availble that will allow for smooth lines… hopefully someone sees this comment and can help me in right direction. Thank you
I’ve been using Procreate since Procreate 2 and its transform tools actually weren’t destructive until Procreate 4. It was a problem that, rather than properly address, they decided to add the algorithms as workarounds instead.
Thanks. What is recommended when drawing on an ipad? I just bought the M2 2022 iPad pro and I'm currently drawing on the glass screen. I heard certain protectors damage the pen? any links to some quality drawing screens?
How do you decide on a canvas size when you know the size of your end product? My usual end product is either A5 size (5.83" x 8.27") or a custom size of 3.5" x 4.43". I use a brush designed for doing line art, and on both of these canvases (set at 600 DPI) the edges are still pixelated and not crisp. Help please?
Wow! Very informative and SUPER easy to follow! I look up so many procreate tutorials and most of them tell you the basics instead of how to tackle little details and nuances like sizing and printing. THANK YOU!
Very useful video and thank you for making it. About the second brush, could you please tell me what the difference would be between that brush and calligraphy > monoline? It seems like they essentially do the same thing.

I’m fairly new to Pro create. My question is regarding the Color Profile. If I were to print in CMYK, the colors are far too washed out while painting on that profile. How could I go about working in the RGB mode and then converting it to a CMYK for print? Thanks.

Thank you for the tips, they are really helpful for beginners like me and you worded them well so their mostly easy to understand. I hope you can help me. I drew a very complicated drawing on the RGB canvas and I was very happy about how clear it looked, however when I tried to color it in bright colors (like this drawing is meant to be) my color wheel showed all the colors very dull. Is there any way I can fix this? I hate to think I’ve wasted days on this drawing and can’t color it brightly.
I upscaled an image with nearest neighbour and saved the project. Only noticed how bad the lines looked after I had saved. Is there anyway to fix this without redrawing the design? Thanks
This is something that always bothered me with the line art. I've been trying to make pics with maybe a regular wallpaper size, like 1280 x 1024. So to make this size, I really got to make a really big image, and then shrink it down?
Thanks so much for all the great information! All I have right now is an iPhone 8 and an iPad Mini 2 so I won’t be able to download your brushes. Do you think if I follow your instructions, I can make them in Procreate 4.3.9?
You should just give it a try downloading them and testing it out on Procreate 4.3 - they’re free anyway 👍✨ or yes, you could try to follow it on your side but the brush maker in procreate 4.3 will be missing some of those features you see in the video

I know 690px is really small but my images being bigger why are they pixelised when I start zooming ? If you go to the link in the description of this video and download the brushes and presets from my Gumroad page, you can add any value you like as a donation - it starts from zero but I can be anything you want, but please don’t go crazy! and let me just say thank you for your kind words! ✨🙏🏼✨
@@ghostpaper I dont know, why I see your answer just one year later!!! :( But now I got u and can finally donate and thank you again :D Love!!!!
Love your pencil skin. Where did you get it from and can it still charge on side of the ipad?
9:28 is when the brush section appears to start, just timestamping it for myself and anyone who needs it.
Cant figure out how to unzip a file on my ipad to get the brushes.... but good tutorial!
You'll need to download a program like "Unzip" from the AppStore and use that, similar to the way you would use 7-Zip or Winrar on your computer.
Thank you very much!! Your video is exactly what I was looking for a long long time. Helped me a lot!
I upscaled an image with nearest neighbour and saved the project. Only noticed how bad the lines looked after I had saved. Is there anyway to fix this without redrawing the design? Thanks
I’m so sorry, there really isn’t a way if you don’t have a backup copy of the illustration. Once you save, the history is gone 🙃
@@ghostpaperdamn lol thanks for the reply though
Your teaching style is excellent! 🌺
Was feeling frustrated with my pencil and realized thanks to your vid it was just the wrong canvas size. Thanks for the tips xx
Update: Just downloaded and used your custom pencils and loved em. Thanks!
Exactly what I needed. Thank you
This is something that always bothered me with the line art.
Ghost Paper Thanks so much, I’ll do that 👍🏻
The brushes are as smooth as silk ☺️
Hello I have to work for several projects in a little format 690px width I tried to import some psd that I previously did in photoshop or to copy final calque made from the square canva in procreate. I know 690px is really small but my images being bigger why are they pixelised when I start zooming ? Also at that canva size the brush such as monoline became to big even at minimum… I tryed to double the canva size but the brush is still to big
thank you so much man i was drawing my mother and it kept becoming pixely and i kept crying thank you so much this help so much
Great video!! I recently downloaded procreate and this video really helps! Also I Drew some 2048x2048 gif stickers but now need to downsize it to 240x240. Do you know why downsizing really damaged the quality? I just used the 'crop and resize' functionality
Hi!Are you lefty? If so how did you turn the procreate interface pls? Thanks 🖐
Thank you! 😮 I just subscribed, really High quality content and professional consideration. I really appreciate your tips and lesson on custom brushes.

I made the untapered brush exactly as you specified, but on my normal canvases they are extremely pixelated.
