  • 2004 2006 toyota sienna or 4x4 stuck in park reverse drive neutral transmission linkage cable repair how to drive it with the cable damage or you can go home and dont have to call the towing truck just move the cable in the engine all the way down to put it in park so you can turn it on, then while car is running move cable to drive or reverse it depends what gear you need to use, but engage emergency brake or have a helper to move cable n you hold the brake pedal.

    dorman 14797 is what I used as a bushing replacement. They're sold at most auto parts. Works well. I put the bushing on the shifter shaft first then with a little grease and not a lot of effort push on and snapped the cable loop onto the shifter shaft with bushing already in place.

    Thanks a lot!!!! Saved me a ton of money! No tow truck. No mechanic’s charges. If TH-cam was around when I was a youngster I may have become a decent mechanic. 🤔

    If you stop at 4:41 and just move the shifter all the way down you can shift down to 1st gear and see the shaft and reach your hand in and pop the cable back on only taking out the two parts beside the radio and ONE bolt and the black trim around the shift nob, and the shift nob. None of the tan trim has to come off. I was able to use 3 fingers and pop the cable back on and put in an E clip. I think the standard part could be installed the same way.

    Just completed this repair, im not sure how he got the center console to move so far away to get the clearance to get in there. I suppose i just wasnt willing to bend the plastic that much. I also just put a new bushing on, i didnt have a cotter pin handy, im sure if this one lasts half as long as the original itll be another 10 years before i need a new one.
    Also found it easier to put the bushing on the ring and the ring on the lever from the passengers seat.

    Gracias por lo ilustrativo,bendiciones-me hubiera gustado mostraras el kilometraje o millaje de esa toyota sienna- sé que no es una regla a los cuantos kilometros se daño la pieza, el empaque de goma,pero si te da una idea de cambiar o perforar con broca preventivamente , es un gran tutorial mi familia y nuestro bolsillo te lo agradecen infinitamente

    My 2006 Toyota sienna stopped accelerating on me on the highway. I cut it off then cut it back on and got me home but it has been stuck in park ever since, do you have any idea of what’s wrong?

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      probably same problem as tgis one, now if you move the shifter and it still showing it is in park then shifter cable might be off, thanks for sharing appreciate it.

    I tried to move my transmission linkage not workin how do you do it easy do you pull up or down it won’t go to park

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      all you do is move the neutral safety switch up or down when you hear a click that is already in another gear, some one should be in the steering wheel to let you know when you highlight the P or D or R and foot on the brake pedal at the same time. unless the device is rusty or broken.
