  • Hi everyone! In this video, I demonstrate how to work a "Hdc Tbl": Half double crochet through the back loop. This stitch creates a beautifully textured, slightly ribbed effect. Visually, it looks like a standard half double crochet stitch, which has a slightly taller and more compact appearance than a single crochet but shorter than a double crochet. But instead of inserting the hook under both loops at the top of the stitch, you insert it only under the back loop, leaving the front loop untouched. This creates a distinct horizontal ridge across the fabric. The texture appears as a series of raised lines running across the rows, giving it a subtle, ribbed look. The stitches lean slightly forward, creating a soft, flexible fabric with more elasticity than standard HDC. This technique is commonly used for ribbing, cuffs, brims, and textured details in crochet projects. I hope you find this tutorial helpful and happy crocheting!
