      @@TuulaMaaria I have just finished a thick double crochet blanket with thick sparkly white yarnspirations and when that ball was done I added another variegated colour. However I didn’t trust the magic knot so I tied this wool together 4 times really tight . I did it 4 times for added measure and your right I have ugly knots . I did 2 and pulled so tight but the wool did come apart in some. I’m not sure if it’s the wool ,but it definitely doesn’t appear to be really strong as it’s a thread in middle with the soft on outside of the wool . Now I have tons of knots I can’t cut out . There’s 9 thick knots and cut off tight that I can’t fix . Yikes 😬.

    This is a great idea. I'm just concerned that with repeat washing of things crocheted, it might start coming off.

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you know that the item will be washed often, use the yarn double longer than shown on the video.

    I'm confused now this works exactly, if you do this then couldn't you just pull it apart if someone pulls on either of the tails left behind?

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's no tails. After you have finished crocheting or knitting the double yarn part, you cut off the rest. The important thing is to double them up for long enough so there's no danger of them getting undone on their own at wash or use.

    thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial!! It has always bugged me to tie knots and cut off feet/yards of yarn in projects changing from one yarn to another.. with this we not only save the time it takes to stop and tie knots and weave in ends but little to no wasted yarn.. it's a win win in my book :D

  • @crystalalexander9359

    That is so cool! When I first learned to crochet I just tied the ends together. Then I learned the proper way to change yarn, but it was always so tedious because you have to be very very careful to cut the right piece of yarn and you also have to weave in the ends. This way is so much easier! Thank you!

    Doesn’t this make the parts where you join thicker?

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, that's why you woudn't use this for thick yarns. With finer yarns it doesn't show much, and also weaving in makes it thicker wherever you put the yarn tail.

    This is great, but I am using a bulky yarn right now and fear it won’t work since it’s so thick....and how are we sure it won’t pull out? Thanks.

    • @AlliesBeautyTips
      @AlliesBeautyTips 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      did you figure it out? im using bulky yarn too!

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This doesn't work for bulky yarn, makes too thick spots. You can either split the ends of the yarn and do it this way or what I normally do with bulky yarn, just finish it off the normal way using needle and thread.
      For knowing the yarns ends won't pull out, need to double them long enough, several stitches.
