TK8 Friday = Happiness. You packed a lot of very helpful tips in this one tutorial. All done with your great teaching style. Later today I will be trying to color grade some images using what I just learned.
Very nice tutorial, Dave. Question: Can you do more than one calculation on a given mask? ie In the color grading example where you first select a global highlights 1 mask and then subtract the background to keep only your subject, can you take it a step further and then subtract a darks mask from your subject before you apply your color grading to the highlights? Thank you!
TGIF should be TGITK8F. You cover a lot of possible uses for color grading and explain them well. Will definitely have to watch this multiple times as I’m still a newbie to the TK panels. Thanks Dave.
Hey, Dave ! I'm a loyal fan of yours but I had to give this one a D- for two reasons. One: way too much real estate dedicated to the subject while the space for the panel way too small. A 50-50 split would have been much easier to follow for those of us trying to get used to all the icons. Two: I also found the pace of your discussion of channels to be overly fast to the point where I had to repeat much of it in order to get the sequence of the steps down pat. And since the automatic selection tool failed to select all of my subject a little help on how to cope with that problem would have been appreciated too. Sorry for the negative comments but since I've always found your other tutorials to be so crystal clear I was surprised by this one. Slainte !
to replicate the exact colour grade over another image - do your colour grading. Open the properties panel for the underlying curve (the colour grading tool is only a method of manipulating a curve layer after all..) click the 3 tier 'hamburger' icon top right. select 'Save curve preset' give it a name and press save On your subsequent images, select your curve preset from the drop down list.

The TK8 is so powerful! Thank you Tony for making such a great plug-in and to Dave for showing us how to use it to its full potential.
Great job here - its a great plugin. The color grading thru masks help me a lot.

Bit by bit, you unfold the power of the TK8 panels; in this case Color Grading thru Masks... Super!!!
Great tutorial, its going to help me a lot with some image I took on my vacation :) I would love to see a full workflow on a portrait too.
Well done Dave great Friday.
You explain things clearly Dave and help many of us to use the TK panels to their full potential
Great work Dave…thank you for bringing the TK8 to life…!
Fantastic new tool !!!
I am using the color grading panel/wheel/tool to tone black & white images. Its very cool. Its the best tool I have come across for color grading
Many thanks for this GREAT tutorial, Dave. You brought insight to both color grading and the TK8 panel.
Great tutorial Dave. You taught us a lot in this video. Thank you.

I am pretty sure you can Jorge. You will probably need to click the Calculation button again because it goes away after you select "equals".
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thank you Dave.

No problem Bruce. I appreciate your comments.
How do I save the color grading recipe I’ve just created? Thanks
to replicate the exact colour grade over another image -
do your colour grading.
Open the properties panel for the underlying curve (the colour grading tool is only a method of manipulating a curve layer after all..)
click the 3 tier 'hamburger' icon top right.
select 'Save curve preset'
give it a name and press save
On your subsequent images, select your curve preset from the drop down list.
