    Happiness is TK Friday! Yes, the road maps at the beginning are very helpful, please keep using a road map ( when appropriate). You had a lot of tips in this tutorial, yet in you typically great teaching style, made complex goals into simple to follow steps. Thanks for another awesome tutorial!

    Dave, I love your videos. I have been struggling with the TK panels for years and then found you!! You explain every step so thoroughly, and leave nothing to guesswork. I finally feel like I have the hang of the panel and now I am starting to enjoy working with it. Keeps up the great work and I do appreciate the road maps. Just makes things clearer!! Thanks for the great work!

    Hey Dave, how's it going? What a wonderful TK Friday. The other day, I was using the TK8 panel on a street shot where my own body cast a shadowy silhouette. They're a couple of ways to eliminate that effect, but I decided to give the TK8 panel a shot by using precisely this tool you demonstrated brilliantly today. I used it for the first time without having the training you gave here, and it helped me eliminate the above-mentioned undesired effect. By the way, continue with the road map illustrations. I find them extremely useful. Thanks again Dave. Remarkable work!

    Dave - another great one. I liked how you laid out ahead of time what it was you were planning on doing to the entire photo before diving in and starting to make changes. I think having a game plan like this is well worth it and for me at least is not always easy to do. I also appreciated your demonstration of how to go can back to a previous layer on which you used the color grading tool to make additional changes by reusing the tool.

    David - this is a terrific video but I see it's 2 years old. I went into TK9 and was happy to see there's automatically a color repair layer (blank layer) just above the Color Blur layer. I can paint on that and it works great. However, I cannot open a blank layer and use the clone stamp to clone texture on a blank layer. I can work the texture layer directly on the texture layer that TK9 created. However, did something change in the two years since this video was created that won't allow texture cloning on a blank layer?

  • @chepo1956

    Hello Dave, I came back to this video to brush up on frequency separation. I noticed that when you used the texture layer, you used the clone stamp tool. Is it necessary to use cloning with the texture tool? What I mean is that with the color-blur layer, you used the brush tool in conjunction with the eye-dropper to select the lavender color. Would the same apply with the texture layer, or must one use the clone stamp tool with it exclusively?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  ปีที่แล้ว

      The texture layer was designed just for altering texture while the color blur layer was designed just for altering color. I find with texture layer the clone stamp tool is the most effective tool for correcting texture. I have not tried the spot healing tool or the patch tool but I believe they would also work on the texture layer but if they do I am not sure how effective they would be.

    Great Information Dave. The TK8 FSep action does it automatically account for 8 or 16 bit images? the FSep process is different depending on bit depth. Tk8 manual does not specify

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't say for sure. I will have to check with Tony Kuyper. I have used it on 8 and 16 bit images and it works fine.

    Hi Dave, I enjoyed the video and the use of the road maps. Question: why don't you label the layers you added to facilitate know what layer did what?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Richard. Good point. I usually do label the layers but I didn't in the video because of a time element. I should have mentioned it is a good idea to name the layers.

    Why don't you use another blank layer when your fixing the texture?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question Joel. Frequency Separation works on the Texture Layer only and the Clone Stamp Tool has to be set for Current Layer. If you use a Blank Pixel layer above the Texture Layer and set your Clone Stamp Tool For Current and below you will be cloning texture and color, which is not what you want. You only want to be cloning texture.
