I spent 3.5 weeks in Sri Lanka last December. It was a lifechanging experience for me. Your original Budgeteers series in Sri Lanka is what originally inspired me to go. I love it, and I can't wait to go back!
Brilliant, just brilliant. Love the idea of travelling by tuk tuk. Sri Lanka looks as if it is definitely going to be 'next level'. Already looking forward to the next vid 😁👍
I literally screamed when I saw you were back in Sri Lanka. This was probably my favorite Budgeteers series and I am so happy you can now experience driving the tuk tuk yourself. Question - how do you keep your valuables secure when you need to stop? Looks like the bags are just sat in the back compartment or are they actually locked?
Welcome BACK to Sri Lanka! I've been a fan long enough to remember your first time there, with the original TukTuk. I remember the scene of you helping to push start it! What a difference this time. So cool seeing the difference!
How fun! The added challenge of keeping the tuktuk running will be fun to watch. 😊 I also like the fact that you will be seeing and doing things that you didn't get to do when you were there with The Budgeteers! How cool!
I’m currently travelling around Sri Lanka and it’s an incredible country. I am in Kandy at the moment and travelling to Ella tomorrow. We Vlog everyday and visited (&rode) Elephants yesterday please check it out & show some appreciation
I really enjoyed watching the Budgeteers series on Sri Lanka, while being stuck at home during COVID. Can't wait to see your Next Level Adventure Series on Sri Lanka, which I'm sure will be awesome! 😊🙏
Loving the added challenge of the EV! Being an avid EV driver in the UK for the last 2 years, and with no intention of going back, I’d still be reluctant to go EV when on holiday at the moment, as the infrastructure isn’t quite there even in the likes of the UK. Using a ‘normal’ plug won’t pull more than 3kw per hour; it really needs a 7kw or 22kw charge port (and the relevant charging stations available!) in order I make it more useable imo. I’d also recommend using the battery % rather than the range (otherwise known as the guessometer!) or work with the assumption that the actual range is likely to be 70-80% of what it’s telling you
YESSSSSS PADDY!!!! Damn i've been missing these kinds of vlogs from you bro! You can even see the spark back in your eyes. Problem solving, unknown adventure, on the road with no solid plans, this is where you really shine 😀 I loved the episode, great production, great content and a happy Paddy, so good and so hyped for this series! 🙏🙏❤❤
Fantastic vid Paddy! I adored the Budgeteers’ Sri Lanka series and I’m so glad you’re back! It is such an incredible country and your video makes me wanna go back 😤
There's quite a good network of ev chargers around Sri Lanka. Just search for them on the map, not difficult to find. And there's a proper electric tuk built here called elactrateq. Will be on the market soon.
It’s not just electric TukTuks. I recently did a road trip through California in Rivian and it was a pain in the ass. So difficult to find charger that had a decent charge speed or that worked. They were a couple of situations where we got down to the vehicle only having 1 mile of charge because the two charge stations on route were both broken (and this is in CA that is considered a head of the curve with electrification). We are along way off successful electric vehicles.
So glad that you'r back with a new documentary ... I'm very excited about the new way of traveling and whether you can go to all places... because a tuk-tuk is less agile than a motorcycle.... I'm also curious how you organize the (hour-long) loading of the tuk-tuk 😉.... But most of all I'm looking forward to share these new adventures with you Paddy !
Gday Paddy. Sri lanka interests me as a fellow traveller. I climbed or walked up some extemely biggish steps up Mt Kinabulu in Eastern Malaysia back in the day. De ja vu seeing some footage of you climbing or walking up the mountain. I remember getting up the top of the mountain with my English girlfriend n we had the coldest shower imaginable up the top. Refreshing but ffffreezing cold...lol.
Hiya Paddy. Loved this from start to finish. Electric is great. But the infrastructure. Everywhere in the world. Just isn't there. Love your positivity. Great idea. Work it around visiting somewhere. And letting it charge. I Love the sounds of the storm. That doggie. Loved those rubs. Gorgeous sunset. Lovely video. Can not wait for the next one.
Hello Paddy D. you always fascinate me with your new adventures, this time /next level, it`s a brilliant travel compagnion, a Tuk Tuk ! Great Idea to travel around with it - i`m thrilled ! Wow ! 🤩I like Sri Lanka , Thanks Paddy, i`m excited and curious.....👍🙏💝
I have never been to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 so I’m really looking forward to watching this … Your next level adventures in beautiful Sri Lanka on your electric scooter this will be fun .
Thanks for another very informative video. You are engaging with the locals and get their help is absolutely fantastic. The Manager of the filling station was very generous and helpful during the recharging process. Special tanks to you for trying to pay for the charging & tempting to give him a tip was very noteworthy. It is very magnanimous of you to pay for what you received: as I said many SLs are quite generous and helpful. Thank you for highlighting the superb scenery, which I never have seen before. Great video & safe travels.
That Tuk Tuk as a rental ride is just something fresh and not the norm for many travellers. I love your idea for trying something new. Great video as always. 👍🏼
Great to have you back Paddy, the TukTuk reminds me of the milk floats in the UK when I was young! Can't believe the journeys you've been on since I started watching you at the start of your Thailand Provences tour several years ago, you are amazing 😊 and have come so far, going to love this one, stay safe
Hey Paddy, love from India and I know the ride with tuktuk we called it auto or rickshaw. It is going to be challenging for you. I enjoyed this video a lot and best of luck for the rest of the journey. When we watch your videos, we feel like you are a family member. I did a thailand trip last year with your videos and it was awesome..
You better make this a long series because i am dreaming away doing this while watching this. I even felt that hype the moment you drove out of Negombo. I have been in Sri Lanka in 2017 and still have great memories and want to return there someday and maybe this is the way.
Loved loved this Paddy! I am taking my 15 yr old son to Sri Lanka in March 2024…( from Oz) …we can’t wait! This was a wonderful episode , and I always love your fun approach and down to earth real approach ..Thank you! Take care ….
Congratulations Paddy on getting your license to drive the Tuk TUk. Todd and I are excited to watching this Next Level Adventue. We are two episodes behind however it gives us a opportunity to binge watch!! Thanks for the video Paddy👍
Just booked out tuktuk for February (not electric!). Watched your original Budgeteers one as well - so been wanting to do this for a while. Just back from Thailand, Cambodia and Laos where your VLOGs were really helpful too (not that we went on about it a lot but the kids got me a provinces of Thailand Next Level Adventures T-shirt)!
Absolutely fantastic video mate. Me and my cousin and my best pal are planned to go in August. I seen this and another video of a youtuber I follow and we had to book.. I'm now subscribed to the channel all the best on your journeys mate. 💙👊🏻
Interesting idea with the tuk tuk but possibly a hybrid version might be the way to go for longer journeys. Have fun in your travels Paddy and good luck.
I’m currently travelling around Sri Lanka and it’s an incredible country. I am in Kandy at the moment and travelling to Ella tomorrow. We Vlog everyday and visited (&rode) Elephants yesterday please check it out & show some appreciation
Paddy, what an awesome adventure trying an EV option - thank you ! What a beautiful country and people are beautiful! Definitely a must visit! Could you possibly add to a video what you carry and any dealings with gut issues if any after eating something that upsets your stomach? Than and hi from Australia 🇦🇺
This will be awesome. Has to be the best allround way to slow down experience travel, open to the elements but covered against bad weather, lots of storage witb stress factor of noisy engine removed. If it has a solar panel even better.
They should have given a plug that is easier to charge on the road. Also an heads-up that charge won't last as per iPad and that charging time is long. But then again they might not have tested for usage outside the city for long distance travel.
Did you visit the Orangatun orphanage in Sepilok in Sabah in Eastern Malaysia.. Classic place and amazing animals. The macaque s were aggro but the big orangatans super mellow.
You're a brave soul, Paddy!! Honestly, I don't know how you could say Tuk Tuk with a straight face!! 🙃 When you had charged it up to 70% and you said, "which, according to my half a day's experience, I've got enough charge to comfortably make it..." I had to laugh ☺️. Honestly, that could be a comedy skit. 🙃 Some really kind and friendly people in Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰 One small step against the big oil companies!! 👏 GREAT!! 👍
I’m currently travelling around Sri Lanka and it’s an incredible country. I am in Kandy at the moment and travelling to Ella tomorrow. We Vlog everyday and visited (&rode) Elephants yesterday please check it out & show some appreciation
I can't believe they didn't do a full-LED conversion for indicators and low-high beams. Costs peanuts and could probably add extra 2-3% power savings which in this situation could mean getting to the next charger.
From an environmental perspective- most of Sri Lanka electricity is thermal ( generated by coal or gas) so it is likely more friendly but not by that much. Will be interested to see is the hassle of electric is worth it from an environmental standpoint- so far it doesn’t seem to be. With a Tesla it has to be driven about 50k miles (or driven for six years)before it becomes it starts to pay dividends from an eco standpoint ( over a gas sedan)- wonder is tuck Tulsa rental knows the break even point for this model?
Heya Paddy! Passing along something I learned recently: sometimes cheap sunglasses can damage your eyes. They allow your pupils to open, and if they don't have UV protection you'd be letting more in. Protect those peepers mate! Cheers.
Hey there Paddy... Loving your new adventure... I was thinking TRON maybe an apt name for your buggy... Good luck with your travels.. Andy,Herefordshire, uk...
Hi, this is a converted tuktuk.. however there are couple of sri lankan companies now producing proper electric tuktuks. Hopefully by next year they will be freely available together with charging stations..
Just FYI Paddy; those 15amp round pin plugs are very British. And are still valid. They're covered by BS546, and come in three sizes, 15A, 5A and 2A. --paul
Finally a nice Asian nation like Sri Lanka on your travel list 🏝️👍 Please skip all the rubbish European countries …nobody needs to see.😂 I went to Sri Lanka in the 90s for a 2 weeks tour in a bus. They have a few EV charging stations like you mention dotted around the island, but MANY more are coming, certainly EV is the future!

Thanks for watching!
Yep me too our first vloggers we ever watched amazing
There are ev charges and online application in sri lanka for some main cities including Kurunegala

I Love the sounds of the storm.

Gorgeous sunset.
Lovely video. Can not wait for the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it, and the EV charging was an issue BUT I am so excited for it to grow and take over in the next 5 - 10 years!

What fun! It promises to be a good series - looking forward to more adventures in Sri Lanka. You really need a name for the TukTuk! Sparky?

Interesting idea with the tuk tuk but possibly a hybrid version might be the way to go for longer journeys.

That is the argument. Also hydrogen(from water ? From fossil fuel?)
oooooo I came from the link on the live stream😁 Thanks Paddy!!! I feel so special 😊

Hola Paddy! Excellent trip, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Paddy! What a fantastic experience! 💞💋
Proudly converted by vega innovations ❤
❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🏆Fantastic Paddy! So lush! 💞💋
The estimated range for an EV will vary also with wind, elevation changes, and weight of the vehicle.
And the charging stations ? In many countries extended range is the issue. Battery material is also a determinent
Hi, this is a converted tuktuk.. however there are couple of sri lankan companies now producing proper electric tuktuks. Hopefully by next year they will be freely available together with charging stations..
OK, you sold me on the electric tuktuk!!! Adding to my list and thank you for working out the kinks!! 😂
Awesome to hear that!
Great episode!
Whata great adventure you too x
Just FYI Paddy; those 15amp round pin plugs are very British. And are still valid. They're covered by BS546, and come in three sizes, 15A, 5A and 2A. --paul
My favourite video in awhile paddy ❤
