It’s important to note where we see sentient immobile furniture: The hallways to Yellow’s Sauna, the doorways at Blue’s Pool, and the comb used by Blue. The sweat the diamonds produce creates sentient life, as we saw with Steven’s sweat drop creating a pebble from rock. I believe the sentient furniture is nothing more than rock and minerals that came alive from the close proximity to steam and sweat. I think the pebbles, as an extension, are the most sentient rock/minerals on homeworld, as they can move around and work. This is likely a result of Pink’s unique powers of empathy. The walls are all very uniform, with the same cut and color gem. I doubt that the sauna, made in Era 2, would have such precious resources as a uniform, functional gemstones used as walls. I think we haven’t seen gem harvesting quite yet. I think the sentient furniture was little more than an accident. After all, why would Rose keep a statue of herself, secretly a trapped gemstone? That’s cruel, even by Rose-Villain standards. It’s very possible that she cried on the stone, making it come to life without her intention.

No this isn't gem harvesting. Those "gems" were brought to life from the diamonds fluids. While in the extraction room we can see that stevens sweat is pink, and yellow diamonds is yellow. This sweat was then collected by a drain, extracted from the diamonds. We can also see during the song familiar that steven has a pink tear, just like his sweat, that dropped onto the rocks, creating a living pebble. This leads me to believe that the diamonds fluids are able to give objects life. Since those walls/statues are so close to the steam and fluids all the time, this is probably why they have come to life. Way back, in an indirect kiss, we can see the rose statue bringing steven out of Rose's tears, while sure this could have been a hallucination, but it may also be that the rose statue was alive,always being in the Pinks fluids, and this would be foreshadowing. While sure, that is a horrible fate, I don't believe it was done as punishment. Then again I could be wrong.

The question is, what happens to Steven then? Will he be destroyed in the process just like how the mirror that imprisoned Lapis did?
@@winterwoods2625 why? Because at the time, Pearl saw Steven as an object that is inhibiting Pink from reforming. She probably cares more for Pink then than she would have for Steven. The only thing that stopped her was her acknowledgement of Pink's desire to birth Steven. This is only hypothetical of the outcome of removing a gem that is "harvested" into another object. Perhaps Steven would have a different outcome, that rather than shattering like Lapis' mirror, he would instead lose his gem powers, and that seems like a good closing scene for the series when his powers are no longer necessary.
What if the statue reaching out to Steven was his mother in his subconscious trying her best to reach out to her child. Like how you speculated that Steven could talk to rose/pink with his mind powers? Maybe she is watching this all unfold. At first un aware that she was still a part of Steven. But now realizing ‘Hey maybe I can still talk to him’. Perhaps Steven conveniently gaining roses memories was not just him tapping into his gem but perhaps his mother *giving* him those memories when the time was right. Great points about harvesting. I also wonder if the reasoning behind repurposing gems in this way serves several reasons: as alluded to, punishment for not performing to the expected standard, but also because Homeworld is low on resources. simply shattering or permanently bubbling gems is a waste of resources that have already been used in the creation of these gems, re-using them as sentient decorations or 'warnings' means that the diamonds still get use out of them without discarding them entirely. Which suggests, perhaps, that harvesting was introduced sometime during Era 2, after Pink's disappearance.
Every thing we see move has a gem in it. But it's legit horrifying to think that these gems can't move, talk, or walk, or have some liberty, and that's just their life now! They can't do anything, can't rebel, can't talk back to someone. If that's the case, then that's a whole lot worse than shattering.
I don't think that those gem statues we're gems that have been harvested. I think that they were accidentally brought to life from that weird diamond juice from the diamond bath. The only living statues we see are right outside the pool house. We even see Steven bring a pebel to life after the diamond bath.
GUYS! What if Pink Diamond was actually made wrong and a mistake, because she was created from one pink essence DROPLET! And that’s why she’s small, she should’ve been bigger if they used all of it, but maybe the pebbles were there messing around with it and made it drop only one droplet instead of all of it. Because that juice thing was glowing and there was clearly more of it, so what do they do with the remaining of it? They weren’t going to make multiple Pink Diamond. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I think the pebble gems were made specially to help comfort pink. Whenever pink was sad she could go to her room and cry and bring the pebble gems to life and they would try to cheer her up (also maybe that’s why they’re so cute)

This video was awesome but I think that some of the gems you mentioned have a purpose (the yellow talking wall gem and comb gem), they are not harvested, they are created to do that(the comb seems happy). But the other gems (on the statues and sculptures) are gems that have been harvested, they are punished for Something they did(they are inprisonned but can watch everything, like Lapis).
I wonder if gem harvesting is that simple to undo. Im scared and excited to find out how this goes. Maybe Steven will have to sit through a trial for a gem that gets sent to be harvested? 😮
Whats also pretty cool is that in the episode horror club when steven finds the gem in the light house he asks the gem. "Was the house like your body?" And I think that's pretty solid grounds for what gem harvesting entails.

I really think Pink had a Rose Quartz accomplice during the Rebellion. The Rose Quartz pretended to be Pink in her palanquin, while Pink disguised as Rose was out there battling with the Crystal Gems. As a Diamond, she would be stronger and had the ability to heal. I think maybe she's hidden in Lion's chest, or maybe that statue in An Indirect Kiss could be her.

i dont think this is harvesting. harvesting could be extracting the llife energy, light, and other non typical gem elements from the gem. to be re-used. the architecture to me is possibly gems made specificly to be architecture, that can shapeshift in order to become new facilities. say Yelllow wants to put a sauna somewhere else. she can have the current one shapeshift into something else and have some other building shapeshift into the sauna. can also be used as lookouts and door locks, because then the gem would only open for those aproved.
When I first saw those sentient architecture gems, it brought me back to season 1 where Pearl first pulled out the mirror and thought it was just some gem artifact/tool and then to Lapis' line of _"you three knew I was in there, did you even wonder who I used to be"_ when she got out, since it finally explained my slight confusion back then, seeing as how they probably wouldn't miss a gem as powerful as a Lazuli, and I doubt they didn't have at least _one_ on the side of the Crystal Gems back in the war.
i think gem harvesting is a thing because - like Peridot said - homeworld is running out of resources and "they just dont make gems like they used to." shattering the gems who disobeyed or werent up to standards would be a waste of resources so they harvest them instead and make use of them in a different way to slow down the dwinddling resources.

No matter how in/accurate what you mentioned in the video was (you’re at least on to something), I think it goes a lot deeper. A post I found pointed out that Yellow’s extraction chamber is new, and the walls are very animated, with fully functioning faces as well as being able to move their arms and hands. Meanwhile, Blue’s pool is rather old, having been there before Pink even got her colony, at least. And the gem(s) statues decorating the entrance to the pool are just as old, and the gem that focus was put on was only shown to blink, even her irises remaining still. Meaning time may also be a factor for the ‘decor’ gems, perhaps if they remain in that state long enough they’ll eventually become complete vegetables, bodies active and physical but their minds broken or dead. Side note: this makes me think of the gem from Serious Steven; it wasn’t JUST a gem, it had a little totem-like statue as part of it. That gem could’ve been like the walls; animated but trapped, until enough time passed to the point that the gem was just, stuck.
The real question though is what if homeworld gems has an incounter with earth gems that don't reformed? Would they try conversing with them or would they know the difference between homeworld gem and gems found on earth.

Being corrupted is bad, cuz you don't even know who you used to be, you basically aren't there anymore. But being "harvested" is far worse, cuz you are aware and trapped 100% of the time. This level of torture is evident in the ever so lingering trauma Lapis suffers

No this isn't gem harvesting. Those "gems" were brought to life from the diamonds fluids. While in the extraction room we can see that stevens sweat is pink, and yellow diamonds is yellow. This sweat was then collected by a drain, extracted from the diamonds. We can also see during the song familiar that steven has a pink tear, just like his sweat, that dropped onto the rocks, creating a living pebble. This leads me to believe that the diamonds fluids are able to give objects life. Since those walls/statues are so close to the steam and fluids all the time, this is probably why they have come to life. Way back, in an indirect kiss, we can see the rose statue bringing steven out of Rose's tears, while sure this could have been a hallucination, but it may also be that the rose statue was alive,always being in the Pinks fluids, and this would be foreshadowing. While sure, that is a horrible fate, I don't believe it was done as punishment. Then again I could be wrong.

Maybe this answers what Rose/Pink had to do to give Steven his powers, and if Pearl DID take Rose's/Pink's gem from Steven, then maybe she could really have come back.
The question is, what happens to Steven then? Will he be destroyed in the process just like how the mirror that imprisoned Lapis did?

@@winterwoods2625 why? Because at the time, Pearl saw Steven as an object that is inhibiting Pink from reforming. She probably cares more for Pink then than she would have for Steven. The only thing that stopped her was her acknowledgement of Pink's desire to birth Steven.
This is only hypothetical of the outcome of removing a gem that is "harvested" into another object.
Perhaps Steven would have a different outcome, that rather than shattering like Lapis' mirror, he would instead lose his gem powers, and that seems like a good closing scene for the series when his powers are no longer necessary.

What if the statue reaching out to Steven was his mother in his subconscious trying her best to reach out to her child. Like how you speculated that Steven could talk to rose/pink with his mind powers? Maybe she is watching this all unfold. At first un aware that she was still a part of Steven. But now realizing ‘Hey maybe I can still talk to him’. Perhaps Steven conveniently gaining roses memories was not just him tapping into his gem but perhaps his mother *giving* him those memories when the time was right. Not being able to talk to him because he was not fully able to tap into his mind powers! Just a theory. What do y’all think?
Great points about harvesting. I also wonder if the reasoning behind repurposing gems in this way serves several reasons: as alluded to, punishment for not performing to the expected standard, but also because Homeworld is low on resources. simply shattering or permanently bubbling gems is a waste of resources that have already been used in the creation of these gems, re-using them as sentient decorations or 'warnings' means that the diamonds still get use out of them without discarding them entirely. Which suggests, perhaps, that harvesting was introduced sometime during Era 2, after Pink's disappearance.
If sweat bought the pebbles to life. Does that mean that the healing tears brought the statue in roses garden to life?

Every thing we see move has a gem in it. But it's legit horrifying to think that these gems can't move, talk, or walk, or have some liberty, and that's just their life now! They can't do anything, can't rebel, can't talk back to someone. If that's the case, then that's a whole lot worse than shattering.
I don't think that those gem statues we're gems that have been harvested. I think that they were accidentally brought to life from that weird diamond juice from the diamond bath. The only living statues we see are right outside the pool house. We even see Steven bring a pebel to life after the diamond bath.

GUYS! What if Pink Diamond was actually made wrong and a mistake, because she was created from one pink essence DROPLET! And that’s why she’s small, she should’ve been bigger if they used all of it, but maybe the pebbles were there messing around with it and made it drop only one droplet instead of all of it. Because that juice thing was glowing and there was clearly more of it, so what do they do with the remaining of it? They weren’t going to make multiple Pink Diamond. 🤷♂️🤷♂️

I think the pebble gems were made specially to help comfort pink. Whenever pink was sad she could go to her room and cry and bring the pebble gems to life and they would try to cheer her up (also maybe that’s why they’re so cute)

This video was awesome but I think that some of the gems you mentioned have a purpose (the yellow talking wall gem and comb gem), they are not harvested, they are created to do that(the comb seems happy). But the other gems (on the statues and sculptures) are gems that have been harvested, they are punished for Something they did(they are inprisonned but can watch everything, like Lapis).

Whats also pretty cool is that in the episode horror club when steven finds the gem in the light house he asks the gem. "Was the house like your body?" And I think that's pretty solid grounds for what gem harvesting entails.

I really think Pink had a Rose Quartz accomplice during the Rebellion. The Rose Quartz pretended to be Pink in her palanquin, while Pink disguised as Rose was out there battling with the Crystal Gems. As a Diamond, she would be stronger and had the ability to heal. I think maybe she's hidden in Lion's chest, or maybe that statue in An Indirect Kiss could be her.
Maybe they are the gems that werent mentioned in the series?
I believe something is going to backfire white diamonds is going to send white version of Purple girl (I don't know her name I think she has a whip) to make sure Steven AKA pink diamond stays on Homeworld and destroys pink diamond leg ship

Well, looking at a statue of a fusion may b seen as sort of the same way we view art of nude human figures. It’s considered obscene to be seen like that but it’s considered high art if it appears in a painting or sculpture
Also, frybo, the gears in the episode "Friend Ship", the gem powering the pyramid, (possibly) the crystal heart, and even Pink Diamond's gem is technically being harvested to support Steven.
i dont think this is harvesting. harvesting could be extracting the llife energy, light, and other non typical gem elements from the gem. to be re-used.
the architecture to me is possibly gems made specificly to be architecture, that can shapeshift in order to become new facilities. say Yelllow wants to put a sauna somewhere else. she can have the current one shapeshift into something else and have some other building shapeshift into the sauna. can also be used as lookouts and door locks, because then the gem would only open for those aproved.
When I first saw those sentient architecture gems, it brought me back to season 1 where Pearl first pulled out the mirror and thought it was just some gem artifact/tool and then to Lapis' line of _"you three knew I was in there, did you even wonder who I used to be"_ when she got out, since it finally explained my slight confusion back then, seeing as how they probably wouldn't miss a gem as powerful as a Lazuli, and I doubt they didn't have at least _one_ on the side of the Crystal Gems back in the war.
Now... Steven's next mission should be saving all the harvested gems since corruption has been cured.

i think gem harvesting is a thing because - like Peridot said - homeworld is running out of resources and "they just dont make gems like they used to." shattering the gems who disobeyed or werent up to standards would be a waste of resources so they harvest them instead and make use of them in a different way to slow down the dwinddling resources.
This brings a whole new definition to "sit still, look pretty".
Topic idea: What if the sauna and pool are needed things to collect diamond juice? Are the injectors shooting diamond juice into the earth to make new gems?
Shattering would probably be a blessing to the harvested gems because just imagine being unable to move or do anything for eternity
The Wall Gems and Statue Gems all have there gems on their forehead! Maybe White Diamond has to do something with them? Maybe she creates living gems, and ones made to be like furniture.

We’ve been looking everywhere for what Gem Harvest could be, and it was in front of us, all this time.
I always thought that gem harvesting was when they grinded the gem up to make new gems, but now my opinion has changed. This is so much cooler!
The episode actually heavily implied that it was the diamonds "sweat" around them that caused them to become sentient considering home world is made out of rocks and any non organic material can become gem life apparently
Remember the one episode (Together Breakfast?) where Steven saw Garnet trying to burn the weird paper that had gems stuck in it? Maybe that was also a form of Harvesting...

You should do a video about pinks vanity. Like the room that Steven entered while singing familiar when he brought the pebble to life. You can see little pink gems in glass and in some stones
This is an interesting theory to come back too because at the time this make a lot of sense, but then in su future we just see one of the wall gems walking around still being a wall

Imagine Steven pulling one of the gems out only for it to be corrupted because they went insane from being imprisoned for so long
No matter how in/accurate what you mentioned in the video was (you’re at least on to something), I think it goes a lot deeper. A post I found pointed out that Yellow’s extraction chamber is new, and the walls are very animated, with fully functioning faces as well as being able to move their arms and hands. Meanwhile, Blue’s pool is rather old, having been there before Pink even got her colony, at least. And the gem(s) statues decorating the entrance to the pool are just as old, and the gem that focus was put on was only shown to blink, even her irises remaining still.
Meaning time may also be a factor for the ‘decor’ gems, perhaps if they remain in that state long enough they’ll eventually become complete vegetables, bodies active and physical but their minds broken or dead.
Side note: this makes me think of the gem from Serious Steven; it wasn’t JUST a gem, it had a little totem-like statue as part of it. That gem could’ve been like the walls; animated but trapped, until enough time passed to the point that the gem was just, stuck.
The real question though is what if homeworld gems has an incounter with earth gems that don't reformed? Would they try conversing with them or would they know the difference between homeworld gem and gems found on earth.
